College Catastrophe

Discussion in 'Archive' started by spaghettimonsterlover, Nov 19, 2012.

  1. Lucey woke up, was the first daystill in a bit of a haze about the fact that today of college. She had taken a year off from school after gradguating high school. She performed in a small play called 'The Back Street Community' during her year long break. Other than that she hadnt really done anything. but today was different. she had somthing to do and purpose for doing it.

She wasnt really starting school today, but she was moving into her dorm room, and out of her parents house. "Lucey its time to get up!" her mother called up the stairs, but she was still asleep. After laying in the bed for another ten minutes, she decided that her mother was right and it was time to get up.

Lucey took a quick shower, then threw on some denim skinny jeans and a Royal Hoax T-shirt, she quickly curled her hair and clipped up her bangs so they would be out of her face. she grabbed her red flats and a box of decorations for her room. "Ok mom im ready, are you?"

"well it took you long enough. and yes now lets go." They got into her car, and began the three hour drive to her dorm.

Zac was in his dorm, with a root beer, and his computer, animating a cartoon. He didnt take a shower for the weekend because he was working on a animation project, and ordered pizzas to his dorm. He was really tired right now, and he could easily blow it soon.

College Life is a completely different life from the life before and the life after. It's a time in life in which people leave home move to a college that can act as a complete cultural mixing pot, and they start over. Knowledge from high school is used, yes, however some knowledge is just left behind as everything is new. New experiences, new people, new professors, new setting.

For those faithful readers out there, thank you, of course the A-Blog isn't going anywhere, but I am. I'm moving onto University of California to study English to enter the big world of journalism. It would not have been possible without this blog and without all you readers this blog would not be possible. How many of you out there are starting your new life today? Maybe some of you are going to the same University I'm attending. I'd love to hear your comments. Remember to like this on Facebook.

    Until Next Time,
    Alex

Alex hit the publish icon on her iPhone as she published the newest blog entry online. She looked outside the car window her two parents in the front.

"This is so exciting, Alex, we're so happy for you, though we'll miss you back at the Diner." Alex's father said. She smiled at his comment. Alex's family is quite large, they live on the outside of San Francisco in a very small town. They're living consisted of an old Diner, the Diner has run in the family since the early 1900's and has just been evolving more and more. Alex father's family are the owners and her father attended culinary school to offer the best taste of home on the road food possible. Alex's mom handles the home life and the business marketing end of it all. As for the servers, assistant chefs, dish boys, and hostess Alex's whole family was involved with that.

"Lex will work when she's home, right?" Alex looked behind her, the very large van stuffed with all her family. Alex was the youngest in the family so she got the job of being the hostess, she's been the hostess since she was 7. Her slightly older sister was now stuck being hostess until she came home.

Alex has eight brothers and sisters. The oldest in the family, Margaret, was the only chosen to attend college however the deal is she needs to chase a major that will help the Diner so her plan is to go for hospitality and return and open up a motel or inn. Next, the second oldest, Josh, is the assistant chef and he has attend the vo-tech schooling in high school for culinary the rest has been taught to him by their father. Next were the twin trouble makers, Drew and Andrew, the two identical twins are two peas in a pod. They are in charge of busing the tables they too also attended vo-tech but nothing culinary but actually construction work. They've managed to add on to the Diner with the help of friends, they're quite good at their craft, they will be going on to build the inn when Margaret returns. Next is Sophy, she acts as a manager of the restaurant, she's always been good at pleasing people and making people happy so it only felt right that if people were ever displeased which was practically never, she was the one to make it all better. Next is Anthony "Tony" he works as a server. He was supposed to be a bus boy but he felt the job was "disgusting, poor, and not his skill" Tony is also the gay boy of the family, they all love him anyways. Next is Kristina "Kris" she the top server despite Antony starting first, doing gymnastics in elementary school has gifted her with great balance that she can carry several plates at once and as student class president for her high school and overall popular girl in school, oddly, people came to see her so she got more practicing serving then. Lastly is Jessica, Jessica is pretty much the same age as Alex, born 11 months apart, they both graduated together as well. Jessica however her parents found as a better server than Alex, so Jessica became a server at 13. However prior to that Alex and her shared the role of hostess and that's what Jessica would be doing now, as well continuing to serve food.

Then the ninth member of the family, Alex. The hard working individual she is she's always done her best to please however when it came to the restaurant business, Alex just isn't capable, she's not meant to do it, but she does it, everyday she'd take customer's to their tables tell them the daily special and at the end she would check them out. She occasionally would refill somebody's drink. Alex dealt with it, however she had one form of break when she was 9 and a journalist, a restaurant critic came to write a review for the restaurant. The critic was asking her different questions before she sat the critic down at her table. Though the critic was pleased by the answers and food to write a great review, the critic was more impressed by Alex's skills. So the summer when Alex was 10, the critic would stop three times a week at the diner, take Alex to her work, and teach Alex her craft. Alex was in love with it and when she told her parents her plan to go to college and then become a journalist in San Francisco her parents denied it from her and asked the critic to never speak to Alex again and quit putting false dreams in her head.

Alex though didn't give up, at just 12 she began writing in the school paper. At 13 she began a second job delivering newspapers before the restaurant open and would take the time to study each article in the paper. At 14 she submitted a weekly column, anonymously about life. At 15 she started her blog, the A-Blog. The A-Blog was successful and her parents didn't even know about it not until she was 17. Her parents demanded her to shut the down the 12,000 follower blog. Alex had to shut down her blog but there was no denying it existed when she was contacted by University of California. When that occurred the blog returned and her dream was even closer.

"She is coming home, right? I don't want to be stuck with her job." Jessica complained.

"You won't be stuck with it for long." Tony spoke out waving his arm around.

"Yes because we're going to have a baby host tables." Jessica said. Alex looked towards her mother shaking her head laying her hand on her pregnant tummy.

"Just be proud for your sister, she'll be able to refer back several new customers." Her mother said.

"Yeah, what she said." Alex father pepped in next. Alex's mother was always one for her to chase her dream her father was not so excited but Alex's mother was able to turn her goal to run away still make it where she was stuck at home even with her English degree.

"There's the exit!" Drew pointed out.

"Oi, get your arm out of my face!" Andrew pushed Drew's arm out of his face as they turned off the exit, the signing saying Santa Barbara.

Zander stretches wide and yawns. Slowly, his eyes begin to open, adjusting to the morning sun pouring through the dorm window. Nearby, was the sound of a hard-drive humming. "Dude seriously? Again with the cartoons?" he said as he grabbed some pants that were lying amok on his side of the room. "You know girls aren't into that! They just think it's gay" the last part was muffled as a shirt was placed over his head then falling down into place.

"And as the great Bon Jovi once said, its my life, and its now or never, cause I ain't gonna live forever," Zac said as a comeback, "Why don't you ever pick those clothes? They smell, they make the room smell, and people think we don't take care of it. And besides, I don't care about girls right now, I don't want to be around those college girls, they can be kinda scary,"

"I swear. You always say that!" Zander looks for his flip flops and only spots one. "And by now, you should know my clothes just need a good spritts" he grabs the cologne located on the dresser and sprays it all over. "You look like you need some" Zander squirts some in Zac's direction. "Wait a minute! Zacy's still in that awkward stage where he's not into girls" he laughs and mocks Zac giving him a slight nudge upon walking towards the door. "If you need me, I'll be in the lounge actually doing something important".

"AGH!!" Zac yelled as he got up from his chair and then grabbed a towel to clean his face, and then cleaned the key board in case some of the Colgane got on it. He then gave Zander a cold look, "Were you abused as a child or something?!" Zac asked as he went back to work,

"And I always quote that so you get annoyed, because you anno me, circle of life," Zac sated, and as the player walked out of the dorm, he muttered, "Dickhead,"

  8. When Lucey arrived at her dorm building, she was surprised about how big it was. With a reb brick structure and black roof, it had a classic charm to it. She stepped out of her car and got her stuff from the trunk. “Do you remember what room you have?” her mom asked

“Yes I’m on the third floor in room 32. But I never found out the name of my roommate. Can you grab that box that says ‘bed’ on it, please?” Lucey walked in expecting to see the same classic that was on the inside, but instead all the decorations and furniture was very modern, although it wasn’t completely clean, but not completely dirty: it was very nice. She looked for a staircase or an elevator but couldn’t find one. “Excuse me can you please direct to me to a stair case or an elevator.” She asked one of the girls sitting on the main room couch.

“You must be one of the 17 new people to this dorm right?!!!” the girl asked in excitement.

“Umm” She hesitated due to the surprise of the girl’s surprisingly high voice. “I guess I must be.” She said with a smile.

“Well hi. I’m Sky, and you are?” she said while reaching out her hand.

“I’m Lucey Demski. It’s nice to meet you.” She w=reached out and shook sky’s hand. “So where are the stairs or elevators?”

“Oh rights. They are right over here” Sky walked directed Lucey and her mother through the main lounge room, to the back of the building, where there was an elevator. She pushed the button to call for it. “So what floor are you on?”

“3. In room 32. But I don’t know who my roommate is. You wouldn’t happen to know would you?” The elevator appeared, and sky pushed the big button with a three on it.

“Sorry no, I just know that there are 17 new people coming to the dorm this year. Also, there are a few things you should know. First of all there are a few rules for the dorm made by the college, and then there a couple not-so-strict rules made by the people who live in it. Number one. Entering or exiting the building in between the hours of 1 am and 5am is not allowed unless u have special permission by the dorm managers. Number two. You can have girls spend the night in your room, but guys are not allowed to spend the night. Number three. After midnight and until 7 am it is ‘quiet time’. And those are really the only strict rules set up by the college. And the rules by everyone else are pretty chill. Just no extremely loud music unless there is a building party, clean-up after yourself, only eat your own food, and don’t be mean. Really we are all pretty chill. Also there are rooms that are boy dorms; they just aren’t allowed to spend the night in your room. Anyway this is your floor, and I’m sure you can find your own room. So I guess I’ll see you later.

Lucey and her mother stepped out of the elevator “Goodbye.’ Lucey’s mom said to her. “Well she was really nice. I’m sure if you ever have any trouble you could probably turn to her for advice.”

“Mom I’m not 11 anymore. I can handle my own life.” After that there was an awkward pause “Oh look here is 32” she opened the door hoping to find a roommate, but the room was empty, there was one large window in the middle of the room, two beds, two desks, two chairs, two closets, and two dressers. All made of plastic. “Well this is kinda cute.” Lucey thought out loud. “Mom, thank you so much for driving me here. But I’d really like to get unpacked.

“I get it. I get it. It’s time for me to leave. I just want you to know that I love you. And if you need me or dad for anything, we are just 3 hours away.” She gave her daughter a large embrace.

“I love you too mom.” With that her mother kissed her cheek and walked out, closing the door behind her. After a few moments of standing there alone Lucey decided that she wasn’t going to unpack instead she was going to head down to the lounge, and find some people to chill with…and maybe someone cute.

Alexis walked into the college building. It was of great size and her heart quickened with each passing step. Not that she was worried or scared, but that this was a new start and she could already feel the rage building up inside her from the other shrieking females. She rolled her eyes behind her Ariel red bangs and flipped her jet black hair before heading down a hallway she thought her dorm room was down.

Looking up and down the hallway, looking at door signs and numbers and her small map, she was able to find her room. She slipped the card-which was known as the room key- and slipped inside the room. Once inside she started to set up her side accordingly. She propped up black lace curtains over the window. She set up one of her black candelabras on the table next to her bed. She quickly unraveled her black sheets and comforter and flowed them out gently over the mattress. Next she added the top blanket with the red lace. She sighed and began to put her clothes into the drawers. Once done, she slipped on her Black Veil Brides hoodie over her black tank top and walked out of the room, her side bag on her shoulder.

She wore her hair parted to one side, obviously her Ariel red bangs drifting over her face. She just got her industrial piercing so she had to clip her hair back away from her right ear, which was a pain also. She also wore her Devil Star dangling earrings and her Batman gauges she got at Hot Topic. They weren't really big, but it was sort of noticeable when she wasn't wearing them. She also wore a black Spider ring on her right hand to reference a book she was madly in love with. Currently she is reading the series over for the ninth time, the series never gets old.

Through the hallway, he went then around the corner and down a flight of stairs. The dorm had multiple ins and outs, as for the lounge. It was pretty massive. Kids of the dorm usually chilled here, mostly for the chatter other times for an open spaced environment, or just to do homework. For Zander, the lounge was a perfect opportunity to pick up chicks. 'And boy' was there plenty of them. Located in the center right was a high counter and there seated were three girls ripe for the picking. Zander approached them. There was a blond, a brunette, and a red-head. "Hey!" he showed off a cute smile. The three turned in their stools to speak to him.

    "Hey!"

    "Well Hello!"

    "Hi!"

The three girls had stopped their conversion upon Zander's greeting and apparently liked what they saw. "You know, I usually sit here so I hope you wouldn't mind me sitting next to you!" his comment was directed at the blond. "No, your fine!" "No...I mean, your not fine! NO NO NO your fine but..." ["What she means is. It's okay!"] the brunette replied covering the mouth of the blond. "Sorry about my friend" she continued. "No worries I think it's cute!" When those words left Zander's mouth the blond started to blush. "Soooo, What's your name?" the red-head asked leaning on the counter. "Zander! It's sweet right? "Yeah very!" she replied glazingly. "I'm Tiffany! She points at the brunette beside her. "This is Loren!" then the blond. "And Clover!" "Ah, Clover! Beautiful and Lucky!" he let out a light chuckle looking down and back up again. The girls were stoopified by how cute and nice Zander was. Tiffany's phone started to ring. She quickly showed it to Loren. "Damn" Loren mumbled with a sigh under her breathe. "I'm sorry! We completely forgot that we were suppose to meet up with some other girls!" Clover spoke. "Can we umm..." ["Sure!"] Zander said taking out his phone exchanging numbers with each of the girls. "Tomorrow! Same time same place" he said jokingly as they walked off.

    "Maybe!" Tiffany turned around smiling.

    "Bye!" Loren waved.

"Bye! Zander!" Clover said very happily.

  11. Lucey got out of the elevator and looked around to find someone to chat whith. Immedeatley no one caught her eye, but she soon saw a guy sitting alone at the bar messing with his phone. Lucey looked at him for a moment and thought they he looked pretty cute, and thought that it would be fun to go up and talk to him.

"Hi. Im Lucey. I saw you sitting by your self and I wanted to come say hi so that you wern't lonely." Lucey smiled at him and sat down at the stool next to him and brushed her colorful hair out of her face. so whats your name?

Unsuspectingly, a girl sat directly beside him. "Hi. Im Lucey. I saw you sitting by your self and I wanted to come say hi so that you weren't lonely." she said. "It does get lonely here. I just need to meet that right person so I won't be so lonely!" he looked over to her. She was beautiful. There was just something about girls who had "bangs", that made them so attractive. "So whats your name?" she went on to say as her multi-colored hair was quickly brushed away from her eyes with a swipe of the hand. "It's Zander! Hmm....So, I've heard there were suppose to be 17 new students coming to the dorms. I hope that I run into one especially if she's cute!" he smiles at Lucey.

Zac had decided to get out of his dorm to go get something to eat, only to find new students. He noticed some girls and quickly went off to find some place to eat. But all his luck, he had to walk pass Zander and some girl. Hopefully, he didnt notice...

Alexis walked into the "lounge area." She kept to herself finding a chair to land on so she could play a few games on her iPod before she went off into the the school finding all her classes so she knew where they were even at. It was quiet chatty, and normally Alexis would have hated that, but something just seemed different about today than it did any other day.

As she walked by a few groups she over heard a few lines in conversation.

"Man, he is so gorgeous!" A blond girl shrieked to a brunette holding her phone to her chest.

She was obviously star struck over some guy she had just met, and her other two friends seemed to be annoyed by her sudden behavior, but nodded and smiled at her. Stealing the good few seconds for an eye roll.

It wasn't until she saw a guy and a girl sitting at the bar area. She had colorful like hair and she was stunningly beautiful. But Alexis tried not to get herself down already this year with the other, obviously, better looking females. She would soon realize her grades to suffer and her motivation running low, so she sighed and told herself how amazingly awesome she was.

She walked to an actual lounge section and sat on one of the chair. It was rather comfy, but she sat gently and with manner. Obviously her appearance would get people thinking she were a trouble maker, and she was, if you got on her bad side, but she hope maybe she could try differently this year and to actually make her family proud.

When Alexis sat on the chair she put her jet black hair into a mess bun and let a few strands of it fall on the right side of her face as her Ariel red bangs flowed over her left shoulder. She slid out her white iPhone from her Black Veil Brides hoodie and unlocked it, slipping her left headphone and turning on her music low. She decided it would be good to check her Facebook, but then again, she didn't feel the need to, as she were surely to find people egging her on to do bad things. Thats probably the main drawback in hanging with the wrong crowd, whenever you try to do good things, the group brings you back to the bad where you once were. Well this time, Alexis was going to try with all her might to do good.

But ... it might be a difficult challenge.

  15. Lucey giggled after he said 'if she's cute'. "Well, I happen to be one of those 17. So i take it that this is not your first year?" Lucey got up off her stool and leaned slightly on her right leg. "If so, would you mind showing me around. Other than the lounge and my room im not sure where anything is." Lucey smiled at the thought of them becoming friends. She loved being social with people, and having fun. And supposedly college was a time for having lots of fun with lots of different people. "So would you mind showing me around?"

"Really, you don't say" he jokingly acted surprise at the statement of Lucey being new. "Well, Kind of! I took a few courses here over the summer but yes. I will most definitely take you out around the school. "So, let's....[Zacy!] Zander shouted interrupting him-self. Zac had just passed by. Zander loved to call Zac out just for the heck of it. For some odd reason, it gave him pleasure to aggravate his room-mate. And what great timing it was, he was talking to a girl. Zac was always 'scary' of girls. "Lucey, that's my roommate. Zacy!" he smiled.

    "Zacy!"

Zac backed up and saw Zander and the girl, "H-hello, I'm Zac and I should be leaving now," Zac said as he turned around, but then quickly tripped. He got up and saw the two and gave an awkward smile, "Hehehe. I'll get going now,"

Alexis looked up when someone screamed out to another person, she was hoping that there were going to be a fight, but then again, she didn't feel the need to stick around to watch another brawl in a school. She saw a guy fall to the ground and at first she thought that other guy had pushed him, but she quickly noticed that he tripped. She chuckled a bit, but feeling really bad for embarrassing himself in front of a hell of a lot of people.

Some standby-ers, laughed and some giggled to themselves. So, this is how college is going to be.. Alexis thought to herself. It was stupid how mean people can be now, but then she looked at herself and she thought she was mean herself, but no one knew her here, so it would be easier to change her ways and be a better person, all-in-all.

Alexis thought to herself to see if the boy who fell was alright, but then again, he could have been mean and she didn't feel like having to be laughed at also. She looked at him, and then quickly drew her attention back to her iPod when she thought he was going to look back at her, she didn't want to already seem like a freak. As if her appearance didn't already ruin it.

  19. "Oh. Hi" Lucey said to 'zacy'. "Well he seems interesting" Lucey told Zander in a confused manor. "Well, so do alot of people here but, whatever." Lucey said after looking around and seeing all the different people. Lucey turned back to Zander and noticed that he had very pretty eyes, and very big eyes at that. "So, um. Do you stay in this building to or are you just hanging out here?" She wasn't really sure how to keep the convorsation going so she just went with that.

Soon Alex arrived and they pulled in front of her dorm building. As her very large family got out they all helped beginning to carry in her stuff. She was the first to walk into the building. The first room was a basic sitting room with an office. Alex made her way over to the office picking up her room key. Room 31-A.

Her family made their way upstairs to the correct room. The building was split with two wings. The A rooms were for girls the B rooms were boys. When Alex and her family got up to the third floor Alex took a second as they moved to the A wing to look in the large lounge area as several students sat around. Alex took note also of a small conference room and a decent kitchen.

"I found it!" Alex's mother exclaimed as Alex fought through her family to the door inserting the key. She pushed open the door and looked inside the room.

The room was quite large. There were two very large closets right when you walked in with additional drawers and cabinet space. She walked in and took note of two beds against the walls, two desks against the walls and two drawers. She turned and looked to the right side and noticed her roommate had already arrived and moved in. But that wasn't it and she knew what was coming.

"Oh sweet little Alex is rooming with a goth emo chick!" Her one older brother, Drew, joked teasing her.

"Oh be quiet I'm sure she's very nice." Sophy, her older sister said. Alex smiled but she was a little concerned on who her roommate may be. She shook her head though.

"Never Judge a Book by their Cover..." Something she's said several times through out her blog. Her parents dropped off all of her stuff and began to help set up.

Once the room was set up, Alex and her family stood back to look at it. Her striped color comforter laid on her bed with a white fleece blanket at the foot of her bed. Above her head board she had a bulletin board with photos she took and with her friends. It was a very modern theme she had going on for it but however against the all black on the other side, it wasn't too flowing. But she didn't quite care, she would figure out a way to tie it in.

"Alright sweetheart, we're going to hit the road." Alex's father said as Alex said good bye to all of her family. She looked back in her room and smiled. She walked over to the window looking outside at the amazing view of the ocean and beach not too far away. She was here, finally here attending college and soon she would fulfill her dream as a writer.

Alex lastly stepped out of her room and headed towards the lounge.
