So a few of you may know and a few I have on msn may be able to guess. My cell phone is not working. Yeah see it decided to go swimming in the storm drain at my grandparents lake. I got it back though and stuff.

I blew dried it for a whole day, it's been sitting in rice for going on a day and I threw away the battery(a new battery is coming in the mail).

So just so I know the water is good and gone, do you have any tips, plus since it did fall in a storm drain by the lake after the lake was over flowing it kind of smells like fish so I need away to get rid of teh smell besides my idea with spraying my body spray on it for who knows how long.

Basicly got any drying and smelling tips for a cell phone, please let me know, I'll be grateful. Thanks~ :D

Well considering im the girl who accidently put her mobile phone in the washing machine... I dunno >.<
But my memory card and sim card still worked :S

Depends on how the inside circuit part is, how damaged. till this day that phone still never worked. You might have to buy a new one

Well I haven't turned it on. The last time it was on was Sunday. I'm waiting for the new battery to come in I ordered yesterday. It should come in tomorrow or Thursday.

The problem is the contaminants in the water.

You can successfully dunk your celly in a tub of distilled water, and at the risk of short circuiting your battery (so with a possible replacement), it will work once you dry it.

The problem is, bodies of water have salts and minerals and such from eroding rocks...when you soak the water out of the cell phone, or the phone dries due to evaporation, the minerals may remain.

These will 'connect' random circuits on the little circuit board your cell phone has, and could cause undesired operation.

The only way to know for sure is to see if it works when your stuff comes. If it doesn't, you could probably disassemble the phone and thoroughly clean the circuitboard...but it's probably less hassle to just get a new one in that case.

Also your display (screen) might be damaged from something like that too, depending on the type. (If an LCD for instance gets water inside, then its delicate chemical makeup is altered and it won't work right).

Yeah sadly it was and LCD screen. The Voyager phone to be exact. I had a screen protector on it so I don't know. Accordong to verizon the only damage since it was fresh water(if not I think the catfish, blue gills, and stuff would have a hard time living) should be the battery and if the screen broke. I looked at it and not a scratch. I'll have to check the phone when the battery comes if not Verizons actually having an LG sale, by one LG phone get 4 free so this time I'll buy one voyager and get 4 to have in case it happens again :p. The only thing I'm worried about is the memory the rest I'll just buy a new phone. If I can though I prefer not even to do that.

^^Keep in mind that Fresh water doesn't mean 'no salt' it just means its level of salt is less than some amount for it to be declared undrinkable (and hence, "salt water").

Even your tap water has salt and other minerals like calcium in it...just not enough for it to be harmful.

    Hopefully there's no problem though.

My battery just came in, my phone works very well. Even the LCD screen works. It still smells kind of bad, but now instead of fish it sort of smells like rice.
