Avatar: The Battle for the 4 Nations

It has been thousands of years since the battle between Aang and the Firelord and the world has progressed dramatically, allowing space travel but because of this, the role of becoming the avatar has spreaded throughout many worlds. 2 worlds are now fighting against each other; Overos and the 4 Nations. Overos' king, Nefirus has started to invade 4 Nations and now they are both at war. Overos has warriors of brutal nature but most of the 4 Nations' warriors use defensive techniques, except for the Firebenders. Many people call Overos, the new Ozai. The reason why he wants to invade the land is for resources. The world of Overos is very damp and the population has been living on biological food made from scientists but now resources are thinning. Nothing can be grown with the lack of sunlight and terrible crops. He also keeps a deep seated grudge for the leaders of the Four Nations, who called him an imbecile because of his reliance of technology and his over expansion of buildings for its people. Overos is a very small world, which is the size of the Earth Nation and the world has only 1 ocean, which reaches 200 km from one side of land to the other. It is one great piece of earth (like Pangaea).
His final reason is for his own gain. He wants to own the land like Ozai did. He wants to rule both worlds and conquer others.

Now, Nefirus is after the world of the Four Nations and now is the opportune moment for him because 14 years ago, the Avatar died of old age. Ever since then, he has began building his army and on the day of Sozin's Comet, he is now attacking The Four Nations. He has now attacked the Fire Nation's capital by surprise and after a mere few hours, Nefirus has throned himself the Firelord.

Overos' population contains people who came over to Overos from the 4 Nations because they wanted a new life. The 4 Nations is a rural world, while Overos focuses on technology. It's population is smaller than the 4 Nations but their armies are far more superior. The people who live in Overos are ruled under a "Hitler" like system. It is a very dark world and technology provides light during the long evenings. The people of Overos regret moving and they can't leave because the government doesn't allow them to. The soldiers in his armies fight for him because firstly, they are selected for "testing" but once they are "tested", their minds are controlled by their commanders and they "disappear".

The 4 Nations have never changed but land has been created, due to population booms. It has been 1000 years after all. Many people haven't changed. The palaces of all the nations have been intact. The biggest change is the forming of the New AirNation by Avatar Aang, one thousand years ago and have thrived among the new world they live on. There are now 5000 Air Benders in the world. Ever since Aang fought the Fire Lord, life in the world has been well and no wars have been fought but as technology evolutions grew, there was tension between the old lifestyle and the new lifestyle. An ancestor of Nefirus, Osmoda evolved space travel and the leaders of the world decided to bring people to the New World. People were excited because they hated the old way of living and they wanted instant rewards and powers and through technology, they were able to accomplish this. With all the positives from technology, many people (almost a third of the population of the Four Nations) moved to Overos. This was 100 years ago. The 2 worlds prospered for many years but as resources wore out in Overos, there was tension for the technological planet but before the current Avatar, Roshkan could do anything, he died.

Now, an airbender named Shinx is the new Avatar but is he ready to face his destiny of defending the 4 Nations?

    YouTube - Clint Mansell - Requiem for a Dream(Orchestral)

A ship of black and red hung above the skies of the Air City, Kataang, which blinded the sunlight. Electrical currents danced athe ship without the need of wings or engines. Suddenly darts of lightning from the air beast struck the city, causing fires to spur throughout the streets. People screamed and in under a minute, a majority of the city was in flames. Shinx, who was meditating with his chakra, felt a rage of flames surging towards him and as he turned, he sent a wave of air causing it to vanish. He looked at the destruction that was destroying the once great city. Tears ran down his eyes, as he grabbed his glider. Suddenly a hand stopped him.
"You cannot leave us!" his old master cried. "You have to help us!"
Shinx shook his head, as he looked at the inferno.
    "I'm not ready for this!"
He was stunned to see soldiers in metal framed suits with strong armed machinery attached to their arms. They were shooting at the innocent.
"You have to or the Air Nation will be finished once more"
"I JUST FOUND OUT I WAS THE AVATAR YESTERDAY!"
The blue arrow on his forehead sparked brightly and his eyes glowed brightly. He shoved his master away and thrusted the soldiers high up into the air. Suddenly from out of the blue, 80 soldiers surrounded him, coming from bright blue light.
    "FIRE!!!!"
The Airbender suddenly was pulverized with machine gun bullets. At first, the Avatar State's reactions protected himself with a dome made of ice but one shot made it through to his back. The strength in his eyes suddenly faded as the Avatar State dissolved away, unable to be reactivated. The unprepared 12-year-old boy fell to the ground, gasping for breath but as he closed his eyes, he heard a whirlwind whistling through his mind.

    2 Years later

YouTube - Avatar OST 24- Tsungi Horn

The young air bender was lying in his dome of ice, unawakened for many years outside a water bending town, safe from danger. The Avatar was regaining power but he has not been awakened by another being. It has been 2 long years for the world of the Four Nations. The Air Nation, 2 years to this day was defeated by the Overians. Both the Fire Nation and the Air Nations have fell but the Earth Nation, the Water Nation and the Metal Benders have been able to fight against the catastrophic powers of the Overians. It has been a very tough battle and many warriors have fallen. The Overians, ever since the battle of Kataang, have been searching for the Avatar. This is the reason why Kataang was attacked because an inside spy found out that he was at the shrine of Kataang. The population of the New Airbenders have been drastically reduced and Shinx is one of 25 Airbenders still alive. They are now scattered across the world in hiding or helping fight against the war. The only thankful news from the past two years is that Ba Sing Sae has been taken back and a new wall has been formed but with new technology. It is now made of metal used from the ashes of the Overian ships. A few technicians have worked on this leftover technology and built up a great fortress against the enemy because they have changed the technology to turn into a magnet for electricity. This takes out their ship's power. This was only a week ago and now was the essential time for the Avatar to return.

(OOC: quick thing, Metalbending is just like a super-earthbending so any metalbenders would be earthbenders)

The room was very dark, save for a wall of fire at the far back. In the room was multiple pillars, each had a small torch though the main source of light was the wall of flames. At the center of the room was a long table with a world map on top of it. There were many people sitting around the table however all eyes were on the wall of fire. "Begin the report." A voice commanded, it sounded dark, malevolent with a hint of something many suspected was insanity. The men at the table looked at each other but then began speaking.

"We've quelled the last of the rebellions here in the Fire Nation. And the last remaining Air Nomads are either promising their obedience or are in hiding."
Another began as soon as the first started. "The Water Tribes are providing some resistance but they will not be able to resist us forever. But a more important matter is the Earth Kingdom. While the small villages are under our command, their capital Ba Sing Sei has managed to repel our warriors. We had control of the city but the rebellion suddenly showed up and in a surprise assault, they forced us out of the city and erected the old walls. The people then reinforced the walls with our own technology. We cannot conquer the city again without the full force of our armies. I suggest that-"

    "You lost the city?"
"What?" The general stuttered, "Yes, we lost it just last week."
The man behind the wall of fire stood up and snapped his fingers. A small gap n the flames formed and out walked Neferius. He looked down on the rest of all the generals as one would look upon a group of roaches. "You lost my city?!" The general immediately jumped up and flung himself down at Neferius' feet.
"Please my lord! I beg your forgiveness!" Neferius smiled, the other generals backed away out of fear.
"Rise." The groveling general stood up. "Take your seat." He bowed and turned to leave when suddenly Neferius whipped out his gun and brushed it through the fire behind him. Before anyone knew what had happened a gunshot rang through the air, and the general collapsed dead with a flaming hole in his chest. "You will all learn from his mistake. Do not lose my possessions. Now, when will the next resource transport return to Overos?"

    "Tomorrow sir."
"Good, send a messenger along with it. Bring me the mercenary, he's going to get his next job."

Kison slowly walked down the streets of Ba Sing Sei, he had been there for almost two years already, he blocked all thoughts of his village out of his mind, for fear of what might have happened to the people living there. The city had finally been taken back from the Overos rule, which was good for him. He was finally safe, at least for now. He didn't think he'd leave the city ever again, for fear of being captured or even killed. Rumors had been going around that someone found a strange looking iceberg in the colder areas. He didn't think much of it, apparently people were saying it was oddly shaped for an iceberg. Still, he didn't think much about the whole matter. No one got up close to the iceberg, people just saw it from a far distance while they were fishing or something, he didn't have many details.

A young man, late teens possibly early twenties, scurried off a large transport ship as soon as it landed. As his feet loudly struck the pavement as he ran, an ominous feeling of fear swept over him. The clouds in the sky were black as night. If one would look into the distance of the darkness, it would be impossible to tell where the world ended and the sky began... The young man picked up his pace, running faster now, more quickly. He knew he had to reach his destination quickly, otherwise there would be hel to pay; or worse. He stopped only a moment to look down at his instructions. He thought he had missed a turn, but it turned out he was on the right course. He knew it was never going to be easy finding who he was looking for, but he was also terrified at the thought of confronting him. After, all, the man had a higher body count than most cemetaries.

As the boy rounded a street corner he tripped in the darkness. Falling flat on his face, he quickly got up attempting to regain his composure. As he breathed heavily, the scent of burning ash caught his attention. he followed the scent to a dark back alley, and cautiously entered it. The boy opened up his instructions and read them aloud.

"Mercenary Kronos... Lord Neferius requests your presence at 4 Nations Fire Nation Capitol immediately. It is of the utmost importance, and as always, your compensation is in the Lord's hands at the moment. You will receive it when you complete the mission which he will breif to you when you arrive. I am to transport you back as soon as possible."

The boy rolled up the parchment of instructions, folded them inside his pocket, and waited for the Mercenaries response. Before he had time to react, something struck the boy in the side of the head. Blood began dripping down as he hit the pavement, and looked up to see what appeared to be a couple of thugs attempting to mug him. He had'nt even thought the crime rate was still so high on Overos. As the two closed in on him, he closed his eyes to avoid any unpleasantries. Then, a low rumbling sound was heard. Out of the darkness of the alley, a whip struck out and rapped around the neck of one of the thugs. The other gasped as the whip tied itself around his neck and then burst into flames.

The whip pulled back and, being red hot, melted right through his collar bone and proceeded to sever through his spinal chord. The whip retreated back into the darkness, and the thug's head rolled off his body onto the pavement, followed by his body collapsing on the boy. The boy shreiked to get out from under the decapitated thug, while the other remaining mugger clenched his fists. Another low rumbling was heard, and a ball of scarlet flames billowed from the alley and engulfed the thug in a pillar of swirling demise. After a few mere seconds, the pillar dissapated, and there was nothing left but ash and cinders. A large man appeared from the alleyway, whip at his side, and a look of pure enjoyment on his face.

As his gaze met the boy's, it turned to a frown. His voice was harsh and rugged. "You want me.... You got me.... Let's go now."

The two of them proceeded back to the transport without a problem and departed Overos.

"It's so nice to be rid of those Overos bastards." Teva said out loud. She was in her normal outfit of green and gold and had her spear slung across her back. As she walked the streets of the marketplace she could see how everyone was happy but still on edge. I guess it'll take more than a new wall to let everyone think they're safe. Guess we'll just have to get Neferius off the planet. Teva sighed but kept walking until she overheard a merchant talking.

"Hey did you hear? Rumor has it that one of the Water Tribes found the Avatar."

"What?" Teva said and walked over. The merchant eyed her suspiciously. "I'm not with Overos okay? Now what was that about the Avatar?"
The merchant still seemed a little suspicious but started talking as the other he was talking to left. "They say one of the Water Tribes might have found the Avatar."
"Wouldn't that be obvious though? I mean the last Avatar was Air and didn't he die? Next in the cycle is water so it would make sense if they have him."
"No, they say they found the Airbender. They say he didn't die and just got frozen from either his powers or the frigid waters. If this is true then we have another Aang incident."
"I guess so. Another frozen Ar Avatar appearing right when we need him most. That does sound like the Aang incident. Thanks for telling me." Teva gave the man a gold coin and started walking off. Could it be true? Did the old Air Avatar survive? And what happened to him anyways? Guess I won't know until more news shows up. I'm not about to leave Ba Sing Sei to go off on a possible false lead. I better go home and practice my bending, Overos isn't likely to leave us alone after we kicked them out.

Kison continued walking down the street with his head down "Could it really be the avatar maybe? He disappeared 2 years ago, it couldn't be..But the way things are going now, we could use the avatar on our side.. " He thought. Then he accidentally bumped into a man "Oh i'm terribly sorry, i wasn't looking." Kison said, he began walking again, he slowly glanced back and saw that the man was still looking at him, for some reason, Kison thought he has seen that face before. A long time ago, but he couldn't remember.

He walked up to one of the merchants "Excuse me..But do you know who that man is by any chance?" Kison asked as he pointed at the man he had bumped into while trying not to let the man notice he was pointing at him.
"Yeah, he's a retired soldier, came a few weeks ago."
Kison nodded "Thanks." He started walking again. He looked at the man one more time, he noticed a scar on his right cheek, Kison then knew he had seen him somewhere, he remembered the scar.

A young women sat in a boat as it drifted. She came to a stop at a rather large glacier. She jumped out and tied her boat to a piece of ice sticking out of the ground. The girl sighed and looked around. Today she was determined to do it, she was going to create a glacier. She has been training for a very long time.

Her name was Kairi, she was 14 years old. Pratically an orphan. Her father went off to fight when she was 6, her village was attacked and her mother was taken hostage when she was 8. For a long time she relied on her grandmother raising her until finally when her grandmother died the year before. She was all alone, the village was filled with just women and young boys, any boy 12 years or older had left to go fight to save the world. Kairi's village thankfully was hidden away, it's not even much of a village but rather a large area in a cave with some small huts built.

Kairi stood facing the large open water space in front of her and sighed. She slowly moved her arms and feet and stood in sort of a fighting stance towards the ocean. She sighed once more. "Just focus, you can do this Kairi, don't lose train of thought..." She said as she move her hands and opened her eyes. She moved her arms and hands back and fourth infront of her as waves started to pick up. She kept doing it. She couldn't do it and sighed.

After a while she sat down leaning against the large glacier. She looked up in the distance at the iceberg. It appeared awhile back, Kairi was probably 12 or 13. Nobody ever went to it because there's so many rumours about it. One of them being that the iceberg is cursed, another is the avatar made it to protect the water nation, no rumour was ever sure though. She smiled and stood up and jumped in the boat and started rowing back to the village. She glanced one last time at the iceberg. For the many times she's been here, she's never approached it, no one really has.

Kairi wanted to be a brave warrior and nodded. She quickly ran along the icy beach as many penguins hung around. She quickly ran up to the closes part of the iceberg in the distance. It was a pretty sight. She smiled as her eyes glistened from the setting sun shiny on the iceberg itself. "It's so pretty." Kairi said. "Kairi!" Kairi turned around recognizing a female voice. It was one of the woman from the village. "Dinner is done, if you don't hurry back, you won't get any." The woman told her. "Alright, I'll head back soon." Kairi told the woman. The woman nodded and ran off. She looked back at the iceberg.

Kairi smiled and looked at it. She took a step forward and stopped feeling the ice under her shift. "Woah!" She yelled out as she fell down the ice broke off. She looked back at the ice. She quickly got up and went to jump back, but couldn't the ice shifted to much. There was nothing she could do, if she made waves it could flip her over and she would freeze.

Kairi turned around and thought about pulling out her bow and an arrow. She quickly did attatching rope to the arrow and shot it hoping to pull herself back in. she missed though. Off in the distance Kairi could hear a storm coming and the waves were begining to pick up. She held on tight to the iceberg. She turned around and looked at the iceberg as flashes of lightning were in the sky.

Pillars of stone began erupting every time Teva moved her feet or arms. The strange thing was, Teva was blindfolded. She kept doing various moves with her arms and legs as the pillars kept forming. Suddenly she jumped onto the pillars and then started practicing her moves again. This time though rather than pillars forming, stone from the pillars branched out making a thin walkway for her. She continued this until she suddenly pulled her spear from her back. Teva began twirling it around leaping from foothold to foothold, keeping perfect balance as she did. After training for some time Teva jumped down. With a stamp of her foot against the ground all the risen stone fell, once more becoming a flat field again. "That's enough training with the earth today."
Teva walked over to a large metal plate hanging on the wall. "Let's try this. Teva concentrated and with a yell she punched the metal. All she got was a dent in it. Teva pulled off her blindfold and looked at the metal. "Damn. I was supposed to make it wrap around my arm, but instead I just get a dent. Metalbending is hard." Teva sighed but then smiled. "Still, my Earthbending skill should be enough for now."

Neferius was walking down a hall with at least three different people following him. "Send the alpha squad to lay siege to the Northern Water Tribe. Send the beta squad to deal with the Southern. Then divert the rest in half with the first half keeping the conquered lands under control. While the other half is to take some of our greatest tanks and reclaim my Earth capital!" The people behind him all nodded and rushed off as Neferius continued to his royal chambers.

A voice cackled loudly over the intercom stating: "Attention passengers, we have reached the 4 Nations and have arrived in the capitol city of the Fire Nation. Please exit the transport and enjoy your stay."

Kronos's eyes snapped open glowing the same vivid scarlet color as of his Fire Bending. He stood to his full height and left the transport, along with the messenger who escorted him. He knew his way around the Fire Nation's capitol; It was, after all, his home. He valiantly strode into the main hall of the Royal Palace of the Fire Lord. He sneered at the arcane statue designs of the old Fire Lord's and great defenders of the Fire Nation. As he passed the final statue, he paused a moment and looked back. It laid a small dent to his pride to see there was no statue of his ancestor, Prince Zuko, in the palace. It dissappointed him to see such blatent disregard for his bloodline. Still, he could do nothing to change it. Yet.

Kronos ascended the winding staircases, taking careful note of what he saw. The palace was infested with politicians. He caught small glimpses of their conversations with eachother, hearing about how some planned to push for more power, while others were looking towards a more peaceful solution. Ehhhh..... This pig headed idealists will be the downfall of us all... He thought to himself. He continued down the halls towards the Royal Chambers. As he walked, he noticed a large group of people rushing past him. Ambassadors? He thought to himself. He continued walking until he reached his destination and noticed Neferius approaching his Royal Chambers.

It appeared Neferius was contemplating strategy, and, in the typical Mercenary custom, it was always better to not make your presence known until neccessary. He simply slithered up to Neferius behind him. Kronos knew Neferius could feel his presence, all he came near to could. His Fire-Bending prowess was nearly unparralleled... And as such, his body was always exuding heat.

Neferius saw Kronos coming up from his peripheral vision and ignored him at first. It wasn't until the flaming mercenary came close that Neferius stopped. "You will take three steps back before I have my soldiers freeze you solid." Neferius ordered. He couldn't stand it when people came too close to him, especially when they made him feel either too hot or too cold. Neferius liked a middling temperature best which is why he chose the Fire Nation as his capital and not Ba Sing Sei. The earth city was surrounded by desert, far to hot. The Fire nation however had a cooling wind from the surrounding ocean keeping it the perfect temperate for Neferius. "Now Kronos, I have a mission for you. Your pay will be the same as always and like always, I'm not setting any restrictions. You are to go with my tank division and got to Ba Sing Sei. Once there, get my army inside the metal walls. Do that and you will be paid." Neferius turned to head into his chambers but paused for a moment and added something without turning around to say it. "Once yo get my army in the city, you are free to do what you wish with the populace. Have a nice week long trip Kronos." Neferius added the last bit in a mocking tone as he walked into his chambers and slammed the door shut.

"Cheerful as ever, my Lord...." Kronos grumbled as he walked off to the outer palace walls. He never traveled in a group, and he wasnt about to start. He told the General of Neferius' Tank division to meet him at the southern wall entrance of Ba Sing Sei. Kronos preferred to travel on Horseback, and began his long journey towards the Earth kingdom, his horse's hoofprints leaving molten tracks in the sand as he galloped towards his destination.

Not before long, Kairi was being thrown all over the water and a giant wave picked up and threw her off. She was in the cold frozen water now and shivering as she felt her body smack up against an iceberg. She quickly grabbed hold of the iceberg and looked up at it realising it was the Avatar iceberg. Lightning flashed behind her as she looked at it. Surprising for an iceberg, the iceberg was very warm. More waves crashed up and caused Kairi to loose her grip and fall in the water. She quickly swam back to the top and grabbed hold of the iceberg again as the storm raged. Hail was falling down. "Help! Somebody!" Kairi yelled. It was pointless though, no one from her village would hear her.

Kairi looked back at the iceberg, her cold body shivering. She noticed a flat platform and quickly climbed up, bit couldn't more waves came and caused her to just fall, over and over. She got back to the top and got an idea. She closed her eyes and focused hard and moved her hand upward sending her body up into the air. She quickly grabbed hold of the platform and climbed on it. By this time she was out of breathe. She noticed her left arm sleeve was cut along with her arm. All she could do was hold her arm against her and hope the bleeding would stop.

Suddenly a beam of light shot up into the sky and the shards of ice exploded like fireworks. A boy stepped out of it with his arrow glowing blue.
"Save the world" a voice spoke. Shinx looked at a ghost like figure, who looked familiar. It was Avatar Aang. He was the spirit who saved Shinx from a terrible fate and sealed him in the iceberg, consealed from danger. Aang, with a wink, disappeared and revealed a 14 year old girl, looking down at her injury, shivering. The storm ceased as Shinx, kindly took her shoulder.
"Hey, are you OK?" he asked,

Quickly Kairi jumped up and looked at the boy. 'He was in the ice?! Could he?' Kairi thought to herself and look at the boy. "yeah... just a little cold and minor cut, nothing that can't heal." Kairi said looking at the boy. She was confused and turned around looking at the land mass. "Kairi!" A voice called. It was the same woman from before. "Kairi!? Where are you?!" There were a bunch of people looking for her. She looked at the boy confused. "Who are you?" Kairi asked him.

Kison was up against a wall when he looked up and saw a man pass by who was wearing a very dark robe. For some reason Kison didn't like the look of the man, he slowly started walking to follow the man at a distance to see where he was going, Kison felt it was his duty to watch out for any Overos spies. Maybe he found one, but he had no way of finding out. He continued to follow the man at a distance while walking casually, making sure the man didn't see him. He noticed they were leaving the marketplace "Where is he taking me...Should i even be following him, there are a lot of shady characters around here who don't pose any threat to the city, maybe it's just me, but he stands out in a crowd, he's wearing a dark robe, i saw his eyes they aren't even a natural color..." Kison thought to himself.

Kison could tell if someone was different, he'd seen people like this all over. Most people who dress that way aren't normal, either that or they just like black..But he still didn't have a very good feeling about this guy

Kronos rode on for what seemed like an eternity. The sands of the desert were harsh, and unforgiving. He kept on riding, not looking back, not taking any time to stop for water or food. His destination was certain, and he wanted to make haste. There was no rest for the weary; and in the name of victory, there was no rest for the mercenary.

Shinx stepped back, almost tripping on a bound of ice. He brushed his hair away, revealing the blue arrow.
"I am the Avatar and I lived in Kataang. I'm an airbender"
To prove himself, he pushed the water, beside them with a pulse of wind. He grabbed his bright blue staff.
    "The Overians attacked the city.....and....."
He suddenly remembered. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CITY!!!
"How long have I been here? What happened to Kataang?"
