Avatar Book 4

Will ran down the stairs of his house, pulling a boot on. He then grabbed a sword from the corner. He was supposed to help Aang today. "Dang it, I'm probably late!" He said, strapping the sword on. He hugged his mom, grabbed a loaf of bread for breakfst and lunch, and ran out the house. He saw Aang in the square. He jumped to the banister and slid down it, using water bending to balance himself. He landed in front of Aang and the student. "Morning Aang." He said, brushing his wet hair out of his face.

 

Miku was going down the stairs and saw her teacher the airbender, Aang.

"Morning." Miku said to him.

"Snow again today, it's little this time." Miku said. She soon saw Will come running over. He greeted Aang like every morning.

 

Aidan was currently in the throne room playing a game of Shogi with Iroh.Ever since Zuko left,Iroh had been in charge and he had been charged with gaurding him.He enjoyed these times as he was able to exercise his mind through the games that Iroh liked to play.He usually lost,but it was still something he looked forward to.He currently had only two pawns,a knight,and his king left,while Iroh had both rooks,a bishop,three pawns,and his king left.

 

Iroh said, "Imagine, when you're become Fire Lord, and you're in this situation. What would you do?" He waiting for Aidan to make his move and looked to beautiful flower outside the Throne room. Then he drank his jasmine tea.

 

"I'm good, and ready for what ever today will be, so what is the lesson today?" Miku asked. She went and brushed some snowflakes out of her hair with her hand. She looked up at the sky as it seemed the snow was coming down harder and harder. She looked back at Aang and Will.

 

Will shrugged, straightening the sword strap. "I'm just here to help Aang. You said I can, right?" He asked Aang. He flicked his fingers out of force of habit, causing the flakes at his feet spin a bit and make a cyclone up to his hand.

 

"Hmm."Was his only verbal answer.He was in a tough spot,and if this was war,the wrong move would destroy everything he had worked for.The right move,though,could allow him to win.The knight was like him,willing to sacrifice all for the cause.The king like Zuko,the one who must be protected.But what of the pawns?Unless...he moved his knight into a vulnerable position,baiting an attack from the bishop.

 

Suddenly when Iroh looked to Aidan's move, he spitted out his tea. And said, "Sorry, Aidan." Then he concentrated to think what is his next move. He can't believe Aidan would do that. Suddenly he know better strategy, and didn't attacked the Knight.

 

Aidan was surprised he didnt attack,but took it as a good omen for him.He moved his pawn,reaching the final space and it became a queen.'the avatar reborn'He thought to himself as to what the queen was to him.He rested his hand,waiting for Iroh's counter.

 

Will grinned. "But I know waterbending, what about that?" He said, unconsiously causing the cyclone to surround his arm. He then realized it and clutched his fist, causing the cyclone of snow to turn to ice around his shoulder to the ground.

 

"Check Mate." said Iroh when he used his next turn. He make Aidan's king surrounded with pawns. "Better strategy than last time, Aidan." he praised Aidan for becoming more wise than before. "I think you should be next new general, Aidan."said Iroh

 

Aidan blushed briefly at the compliments."Thanks you Iroh-san.I would hope to become one so I may be of more help in the coming battles."The resistance was growing more bold each passing day,and they needed to be ready.He started to collect the peices.They had been quiet since Zuko left,which surprised him.He wasnt sure if that was good or bad.

 

Will nodded. "True..." He said, shattering the ice. Sokka ran down, sword hanging loose. "Aang, I'm here!" He shouted, hopping over a pot. He reached the stairs and tripped, falling down the stairs. "I gotcha Sokka!" Will said, turning his hand and catching Sikka with water. Sokka stood and shook off the water. "Thanks Will." He panted, walking slowly down the stairs.

 

Sokka shrugged. "The stairs are icy!" He said. Will was trying to hide his laughter. Sokka turned. "Will, stop laughing! You probably caused the ice!" Will's jaw dropped. "No, I didn't!" The pair started to argue.

 

Just as Aidan finished putting away the last piece,and explosion rocked the palace."What the!"He said as he got up and ran to a window.Below he saw a large fire,and many fire bending soldiers fighting against the resistance.Damn!It didnt last long.Iroh-san,we must get you to safety!"He said returning to Iroh,grabbing his sword on the way.
