Hello all, its me the Z.

This rp is based off of a new writing series, which will probably only be posted by request, that I happen to be working on. It takes place in a time long ago when magic ran wild and free. At that time it was a peaceful thing, and difficult to wield. Alas, someone decided to mess with this magic and give it's various aspects some kind of physical form. Suddenly all hell broke lose. Spells became rogue and began hurting the people of the world. They moved across all of the European countries, and much of africa. All hope was lost until someone had an Idea.

One young lad had been drawing magic circles in his home, just for kicks, when a fire spell attacked his family. The drawing book that he had been using for the circles took on a glow, and suddenly absorbed the rogue spell before it could do much harm. The book only held the spell at bay for a week, and was then destroyed, but not before the circle that had sealed it had been redrawn. Now people had a deterrent, and another bright individual decided to take this one step further.

A young scholar, by name of Bale Jolson, had a theory. He proposed that since words gave something power, it also gave that same something a risk of being captured. If the right words are chosen, anything can be captured by them. So he gave a name to a series of empty books containing the circles known by then as the "Sealer". They were known as Wild Grimoires, and he founded an organization known simply as the Librarians. It was their duty to seek out as many rogue spells as they could, and seal them away in their books. Once a spell was sealed it was given a unsealing mantra for combative purposes against other spells, and a name to help bind the spell to the book until its master called it out. A new circle was created called the "Return", which forced any spell used from the book to return to the book once it was used. A final circle known as the "Enforcer" was also created to give the sealed spells more power. It came to a point were the only a way a captured spell could be freed would be for the book that contained it to be destroyed, or for the "Sealer" to be damaged or erased. Soon all but a choice few, the non violent spells, were sealed away.

Centuries have passed before a arsonist set the Great Library ablaze, thus freeing the multitude of spells. Once more people with a magical lineage are called forth to combat and seal away the spells. And that is were you guys come in.

I am trying out a few ideas on how to make it work, but have decided that only a good ol role play will give me real concrete results. The time period is set just before the industrial revolution. Each of us gain the following items upon entry to the roleplay,

A sack, you can pick what it looks like, with a special spell placed on it to reduce the weight of any items within it by over 75%.
A Wild Grimoire to capture spells with. They have been outfitted with a spell that shrinks them in size so they can be connected to a bracelet, knecklace, or keychain in order for them to be A. lighter and B. less conspicuous.
A rope, for going into caves, and 2 other things of your choosing that you feel may be needed to hunt down these spells.

You may create your own mantra and name for each spell captured. They all do very specific things so capturing a lot is key. The magic in the atmosphere allows us to use spells, so don't worry about energy. Its practically limitless, though a few places exist were magic is practically non existent. Enjoy the rp.

History: Sarah has lived her entire life on her father's large platation farm. She's from a very rich Virginia family. Her mother from a rich English family her father also from a rich English family but was born in the colonies(which then became states).

Sarah's grandfather was a well respected man in the American revolution, and good friends of George Washington, the current president of the United States of America.

Sarah's father also knows political figures and is good friends with Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin.

Sarah due to the family background of being a well respected rich Virginia family, she has been expected of things, she does not appreciate being respected of.

Sarah isn't like most colonial teens her age, in fact a lot of fellow women her age were already married, Sarah refused to get married. Sarah gave up on it. Now 17 years old her father is pestering her to marry and hooked her up with a boy from a very rich family.

Sarah though has been reading about a lot of magic that has been happening lately and around that time found a unique charm by the creek. She nevers leaves the charm alone, for good reason.

One day a spell appeared at her. It was then her charm appeared in her hand as a book. A man came and helped her. He explained things to her and she agreed to go and help the cause that he had taking it as the adventure of a lifetime.

She still lives at home but is planning to run away.

Personality: Sarah is a very outgoing adventurour young lady. She's not like more girls her age who stay at home working around the house and are matched up with a husband by their father. She travels the country learning new things, she is very wise and polite. She has a bit of a rough guy personality but can be lady like if she feels like it(which isn't very often). She is very friendly and is easily caught in the attention of many guys.

    Gear: compass, her grandfather's sword

Spell book: a charm(see image above)
when in book form, it's a navy blue book with silver desgin much like her charm on it.

Yes the book is correct as far as it's sealed form goes. What does it look like when it is in a normal form? And I meant the American Industrial Revolution.

So normal form would be not looking like a book( so an amulet) then sealed form would look like a book? Could you explain this a little better, this part confuses me and I'm sure others.

    Ok,

The Wild Grimoirs are books of magic designed to capture weakened spells. Each book comes with one spell of your choosing.

    The books have two forms,
The Sealed Form: Were the book shrunken down and looks more like a charm that would go on a necklace, braclet, or some other thing. It could be anything.

The Awakened Form: This is the books true form. Its the actual sized book from which you may cast your spells.

Spell casting (just cause I think you guys should know this stuff)

In order to cast a spell you need to have the target in mind, and the spell. When casting the pages of your book will flip by themselves as you state the intention of the spell.

Ex: The book in his hands began flipping as energy filled the air. " Book, Protect me from the spell before me."

Now the book knows what you want and so it will either pick the spell you had in mind or pick a better one.

Ex. Book flips to a spell, and the letters for the spell glow. "Shieldija Reinga!" The book releases a powerful light that takes the form of a barrier, blocking the incoming spell and casting it aside.

In this case Shieldija meant protect, and the book added some more power by adding the Reinga portion which strengthens that spell. If you wanted to reflect the spell would be lengthier.

Ex. The book opened and the pages turned as our hero faced down his foe, who had begun to cast a powerful fire spell. "Book, protect us from the spell and return its fire to its source." The books pages stopped flipping, and a line of words began to glow. "Shieldija Reinga Ostophren!" A barrier appeared before him, and returned the incoming spell straight back to its source.

Note the enhancer was still there. Its used solely for strengthening shield spells. You can make up your own words of course. In a perfect world I'd have a vocabulary list but that would make things to complicated I think.

By the way, enhancers come with the spell. They are just an optional portion of the spell mantra, though a spell without the complete mantra will not be as powerful. You sacrifice power for speed.

Also if you have no shield spells the book will do one of the following,

In the case were you have the opposing spells opposite, and you do NOT have a shield spell, it will activate that spell for use in the hopes of canceling your foes spell.

If you have only a few spells, and do NOT have a shield spell, the book will activate the strongest of the bunch to cancel the foes.

Finally, if you only have one spell the book will activate that no matter what you tell it to do, be it ask it to let you fly or dig a giant ass tunnel. Just remember that the book will still try to make the spell achieve the affect you want. That means if you do want to fly, but all you have is a fire spell, it will hit the ground and blow you into the sky. Ouch.\

    Ok, here's my guy.

    Name : Raven Solen
    Age: 24
    Gender: M
    Description:

Minus the cape and staff. He wears a white dress shirt around town, a black t shirt in the wilderness, and blue jeans all around. He wears hiking boots when outside of town, and normal shoes when he's in town.
History: Raven used to a be a scholar of sorts who's passions involved science, history, and mathematics. In fact, he was so absorbed in study that he never made friends, and certainly wouldn't know what to do with them if he had any.

At one point in time he was attacked by a rather angry fire spell. He survived the encounter thanks to a mysterious man holding a book, which had absorbed the spell. The man noticed something about Raven and asked him to join the secret society of spell users known as the Librarians. Raven said yes.

Since then he has traveled far and wide. He has completed one Wild Grimoir, and has now begun his second book.
Personality: Calm, aloof, and not very good with people.
Gear: Hiking boots and a sleeping bag.
    Spell book:
Awakened form: This latest book of his looks like a dusty old tome. In fact this book is one of the older ones, but got lost in the library at one point. It is a dirty brown with a tough spine. The pages are the only thing on it in perfect condition.
Sealed form: When not in use the book is as small as a dime, and rests on a length of cord around Ravens neck.

    ~ My Grimoire ~

Firisa Firin: A basic fire attack that releases a small ball of flame at the target.

Shilda Rildalga: A basic shield and weak shield spell.

I edit my post above and did further research to find that the time frame for this RP(if before the industrial revolution) would be colonial times to 1820, so basically from 1776-1820.

Try 1820 please. We don't want to be THAT old fashioned. We have cars and things by this point. Not colonies and old style muskets. Gag.

Edit: Sin give us a pic and more history and then we'll start.

Here are the various spells your book might come with. Pick one. And I am naming these spells with an incant cause they are so flipping basic I don't think you would mind.

Firisa (Fir- is - a): A basic fire attack. Fires a small ball of flame.

Iclena (Ick - len - a): A basic ice attack. Release a ice shard.

Winna (Win - na): A basic air attack. Fires a minor air ball.

Rodena (Roe - Den- a): A basic earth attack. Launches a nearby rock .

Also I shouldn't do this, but I guess I will be nice and add this spell right off the bat. You get this one along with the one you picked.

Shilda (Shil - da): A basic weak shield. Blocks various spells.

Enhancers are your choosing. Also try to keep track of your spells in your profiles. Yes I know that it sounds like a chore, but this way we know what you have and you can use any spell of your choosing. That's right, so long as you have the spell you can use it. None of this stocked spells and abilities business. Try to follow the template in my own profile.

One more thing, the spells you have get stronger with each spell you collect. At first your basic stuff will be weak, but they will get a lot stronger when you have more spells. They are also the fastest to use so don't immediately discard them for another spell.

Dawn if you don't mind I should be the one who met up with you and explained things. I wouldn't say anymore than what is in this ooc thread so it should be fine.

As for Sin, Dawn and I should probably meet you around the town. I would prefer in an engagement with another spell or a group of thugs, or something. I'll let you cue that in if you like.

I myself will probably be around town so no worries about were to find my guy. I got the rp up now.
