Pornagraphy

Well, depending on one's definition of porn, I can say I've never actually seen any...but of course, I have, if you consider any of the following pornographic:

-An Anatomy Textbook
-Nude Female Artforms
-Some cartoon nudity thrown into a few internet flash videos



In addition, I was tricked into watching about 10 seconds of pornography by a friend of mine (who knew I don't really watch the stuff). I myself am big on the Legend of Zelda series, so what he did was he downloaded a porn, cut out a clip of a particularly graphic part, and named the video something like "Legend_of_Zelda_-_New_Glitches_2008.avi." He then sent it to me over MSN. (That wasn't the title, but it gives an idea of the sort of thing he did)

Being gullible, I opened it...and immediately closed it, rather embarrassed. I had my volume down, thankfully.

But yeah, besides that...I've actually never really seen any porn. Doesn't interest me the most.

 

yeah i only llook at porn when I am really bored but I dont think we should ban it it gives people some really damn good paying jobs

 

Not my cup of tea, but at the same time what harm does it do? Unless you still believe that that kind of activity makes you blind. Some people see it as unethical, undignified, etc. etc. etc., but I don't see a problem so long as they keep it to themself.

 

so long as people are not FORCED into it i see no reason to ban it. And the government does check on the site to make sure.

 

why ban a vent for some men who can't get any.... enough said there. Some say that it is degrading, yet still these are the same people who hate their bodies and therefore probably hate the people who are showing them off. But people are making a living out of this and why destroy their livelihood via banning it?

 

Should be your choice to watch it. It shouldn't be made illegal simply because some groups of people find it immoral or "not right."

 

But that is the number one argument against many issues, namely abortion and gay marriage, so it really can't apply.

 

So you would rather someone rule your life? Thats why our country rocks. Power to the People. I can't say, "Zenrot can't have Ice Cream because I find it immoral", but i can say, "Zenrot can't have ice cream cause he's LACTOSE INTOLERANT!!!" See? Not that he IS lacotse intolerant, but that's an example of how we work.

 

This is not my kettle of fish but I might as well add my two cents. I do not find it wrong,I do however find the fact that these people can and sometimes do exploit foreign people.An american (or in my case English) women knows how much she should be payed (the certain shoot might be worth lets say $12*.) She will get her money.Now lets say a chinese women comes over to the country.She does not know how much this same shot is worth,she will get alot less.

Apart from that niggly little problem that I'm sure many buisness people do I beleive it is not wrong.Some people want it,and if it were banned all those subjects of shots that can do nothing else would be rather buggered.

*yes I know this is not realuistic but I was just using an example.

Put simply, I hate porn. I can't stand that fact that it exists. But when you look at it from a "rights" point of view, porn should never be banned. Period. I mean, people do make a living from this stuff, and though I don't like it, and I find it somewhat degrading, people have the right to choose what they wanna do.

And Damoz is right, why cut off a vent for men who lack the ability to woo. Or even the ability to find a hooker. No offence there, but its the truth. If that's all you're capable of finding, more power to ya. . .but you won't see me touchin' it.

 

My riposte was directed at people in general. I figured any one finding it immoral and who want it to be banned who read this should see my words directed at them. No offence was meant to you by anything i said Zenrot. I believe we can all see were this is going. It looks like everyone is for it save for one guy. Yet those that voted no for it should start typing. Come on guys, i came here for something fun, i need multiple people against me, not just Zenrot. Speak yo minds.

WTF ever man. If you want to look up porn, then do it. If you want to me moral, be moral. If you're against porn, don't go looking for it and don't do it. If you want to get naked in front of a camera, more power to ya. Just don't go pointing fingers at others because of what they do and don't do because you don't know their lives or backgrounds ok.
In my oppinion, it's gross and really slutty on both the viewer and the subject's counts wether they are male or female. But there are some who can't get money any other way because of either not getting the right job to begin with or not knowing the right way to go about it. You won't see me looking it up on the internet and you most deffinately wont see me on any porn websites or magazenes but I won't judge those who do it either.

 

Zenrot's correct, and here's why:

There exists a person (or people) who think murder is acceptable. They may be psychopaths, I'm certainly not one of these people...but still, granted they exist right?

Look at the population of the Earth WITHOUT these people. But this is just a group of people! So why should murder be made illegal because one group finds it immoral? It's infringing on the rights of these other people to express themselves.

We all know murder should be illegal...but if murder's illegal but porn isn't (simply based on Figure's reasoning), it's a double standard.

Then you can adjust further to say that the majority of people decide what goes...but then who knows? Maybe the majority of people do think porn is immoral. I mean it doesn't seem like it on here, but this isn't exactly an adequate representation of the population. (I personally know 1 (possibly 2) people who watch porn but hate themselves for it...haha. So even though someone may watch porn, they may still consider it immoral).


In short, the needs of a specific group are (like it or not) at the heart of everything. Politicians try to adequately represent as many groups as they can, ethics commitees represent the needs of 'inferior groups' (in the sense that they cannot defend themselves), and so forth.

i'm with worbs cuz I mean porn! really you guys? a billion other things to debate about but.......PORN?!?!?!?!

 

This is a decent debate in my opinion. Porn by some is seen as art form, others its a way to make a living. If you don't like porn don't watch it, but those who are involved in it agree to what happens to them whether it be a donkey punch or plain sex. If its the legal form of porn then its fine.
I don't understand why people feel they have the right to judge other peoples way of lives and want to 'ban' it. How are these girls / guys / directors supposed to make a living with little to no education?
