The Key Bearer's Sleep

Euia gasped as she slipped past more from behind the palm tree. She could hear the waves lapping against the side of something.... something wooden. A ship? How come none of the villagers had noticed this?! She listened around nervously-- no one was in around, except for the girl and Ao.

She crept a little closer. Euia thought she heard something about being careful, but she couldn't be sure from this distance. Then she heard someone pouring water... perhaps the voice she had heard belonged to whoever it was?

Euia crept even more closer-- and snapped a twig beneath her foot. She froze.

 

"So there called Heartless. That makes sense." Jordan leaned against the wall.

 

Euia deftly leaped behind a large juniper bush and hid from view. Something about the way Ao had slipped away just to meet with this girl made Euia feel like this was a big secret she was intruding on.

But was Ao LEAVING? Both of them knew that there was no way to leave the island, people had tried before. But none of them had a ship that big, Euia thought grimly. What was Ao doing?!

 

"Divinity Islands...?" Euia whispered to herself in awe. The Divinity Islands were a legend Oiea used to tell her of, but of course nobody really believed they existed.

Euia stepped out into the clearing, and headed toward where she had heard the voices. She had to stop Ao! This was crazy-- nobody had ever left the Island of Rest!

"AO!" She called.

 

"Well I gotta go."

 

Euia noticed a change in the lapping against the ship. The ship was moving! It was sailing away! She ran forward into the water.

"AO!! COME BACK!!" She screamed.

 

Jordan walked out when he heard a loud roaring noise. He was following the sound to the shore, where he saw a ship with Ao in it and Euia, who was in the water. He said to himself, "What the hell....."

 

"No, no, no, no! You can't take her to another world, not now!" Jordan yelled.

 

"Ao, what's going on?!" Euia cried out. She clutched to the rope and held on tightly. The roar of the waves was blocking out all sound, but she heard a voice shout something from behind her, upon the shore. She recognized it to be Jordan's, and faced the shore.

"Jordan!" She shouted. "What's going on?! Where are Will and Oiea?!"

 

"There still inside! Drop down, it's not your time to go!"
