Anybody on here a fan of TVD? It'd be nice to see if anyone shares this similar interest.

If you aren't familiar with this show, it's basically about 2 brothers who share a love interest with a mortal girl. Now, before anyone asks, no. This is nothing like twilight. Not even comparable. This show was based off the books by L. G. Smith dating back to 1991. I have yet to read these books but that's another topic in another thread. This subject strays so far from Twilight because it's more than the basic "Vampire + Werewolf". The overall story line and emotion you receive from this show is strong. Character development is amazing as well. I have been a fan of this show since it first aired back in 2009. Unfortunately, it just had it's series finale and it was the most emotional and beautiful ending to the show.

If you are familiar with this show, I'd like to hear what your favorite episode is. Even the character.

If you aren't familiar, I strongly suggest you try it out and watch it. You won't regret it.

You've started something that you can't come back from.

I don't think its a good show. I haven't seen the last season yet. I've only continued to watch it only because I invested so much into the series. Like literally their is no type of character development at all if there is. It's very little. For the longest, they've been vying for the same girl. Stefan and Damon are constantly switching from bad to good. Arbitrary characters who are introduced, die whereas main character come to the brink of death but then miraculously survive. The villains suck. Yes, Silas, I mean you. They screwed Elena by making her a vampire. What the heck?

Bonnie has a strong character development. I can't exactly say much considering I don't know where you left off of. Last season meaning season 7 or Season 8. Season 7 I wasn't a fan of that much. Mainly because it was all "boohoo" for Elena, and yes that does get annoying over the course of Season 7/8 is the mention of Elena every 5 seconds. Damon actually had a really good character development. That doesn't really get shown until the latter of Season 8. Slightly on the season 7 finale, however. The off and on of all the main character dying and coming back does get annoying. Like are they dead, are they alive? Oh she really did die? Eh, I had more of an emotional impact the first time she "died". Yaknow? And the main plot of this series, as stated by JP, was the fact this was a love triangle, so of course that is always going to present within the series.

Yeah, Bonnie probably has the best character development. I forget exactly but when her and Damon were trapped in some alternate dimension. You actually got to see the two of them interact and get along which was definitely lacking. Probably, the only genuine character development, I can remember. I also felt they had to try hard to keep Bonnie relevant since she was a single witch surrounded by vampires hence her being given Expression and becoming the Anchor; just trying to fit her into the story arc.

Hmm. I'd have to check what season I'm on, but the story arc surrounding "The Other Side" was ridiculous. It sounds nice to have characters return, but I expect that from something like Supernatural where death is a complete illusion. I just think it was poorly implemented. The fact that main characters were leaving the show also didn't do TVD any good. It also stopped being a love triangle for a while now. I feel the Originals are doing better than their TVD counterpart even though its almost as bad.

I wish you were more farther along! Damon also showed a really good development, however that doesn't show until later seasons which is unfortunate. I think the only people who needed to stop being apart of the show were the Donovans. They were very much irrelevant until season 8. Which of course was a last minute throw in because there were more of a nuisance to have around than actually adding to the story line. You should catch up, I feel we would actually have some really good conversations around these shows. :)

I am actually re-watching TVD right now. Almost forgot just how bad the first few seasons were. As the show progressed and got a bit bigger than the love triangle stuff, it got better in my opinion. It definitely has it's high and low points in my opinion. Overall I do think it's a good show, though.
It wouldn't be right to discuss TVD character development without mentioning Caroline Forbes. She's definitely one of my favorite characters. Up there with her are Damon, Alaric, Rebecca, and SOMETIMES Bonnie. I straight up hate her in season two when her actions straight up lead to the death of one of my favorite characters and then she blames Damon for the whole thing. >.> Sometimes her self righteousness is very poorly written and makes her look like kind of a hypocrite. But her well written episodes are amazing.

Caroline was definitely a major character to develop over the seasons. I never liked her in early season pre-vampire. And it took me a bit to actually like her post-vampire. She isn't one of my most favorite characters but she is a strong character.

I actually never liked Bonnie up until Season 7 with her and Enzo. Only then did I actually like her character and think she deserved a better ending than the one she got.
