I remember seeing this when you posted and seeing that the Earth spot was open. I was debating whether or not I should grab it immediately since I do have a bit of a soft spot for earth based powers. But given that it is still open, may I take it?

That would be nice. I'll either edit this post or make another post, depending on if somebody else posts.

    Name: Haruka Campbell

    Age: 16

    Gender: Male

    Role: Corrupted by fear

    Appearance: [IMG]

    Alternative Appearance:

Personality: Extremely quiet and shy, never seeming to venture outside of his comfort zone, and often coming off as cold or distant to those who attempt to talk to him.

    Powers & Abilities:
Haruka possesses the ability to mold and control water in mass quantities, making it easy for him to cause floods or other sorts of hazards. While he can also bend small quantities of water, he has yet to master the intricacy of small portions, primarily using his underdeveloped powers to lash out in fear if he feels threatened or uncomfortable.

Skills: While his social skills are not particularly remarkable, he is fairly athletic, possessing a rather impressive amount of strength and speed for a boy of his build. Despite his strength; however, he prefers to avoid close combat, typically remaining aloof from his opponent and washing them out. He certainly is not useless, of course, and should his tactic of distance fail him, he's able to hold his own. He's not formally trained in combat, and will usually avoid it unless he feels it necessary, or if he feels cornered/threatened. Once again, though, should it come to blows, he is quite adept with the weapons he feels comfortable with.

Weapons/Items: Haruka prefers weapons that give him a good amount of range, sometimes a pole-arm, but most preferably, a trident. Short range weapons are far from his specialty, though he does often carry a knife.

Biography: Haruka was born into a relatively broken family. His father was a former American navy-man, who had moved full-time to Japan to marry Haruka's mother, a Japanese citizen. Unfortunately for him, his parents' marriage was on its last leg before he was even born, with his birth being a half-assed plan to solve the couple's problems. The solution proved temporary, and Haruka's parents split up when he was six years old.

Haruka had always felt different from the other kids. He looked different, he talked a bit different, and more than that was one more thing he could never quite put a name to. His poor home life only served to make matters worse; Haruka would often lock himself away in his room while his parents fought, trying to ignore it as best as a child could.

As if he didn't feel different enough, when his parents got divorced he moved in with his father, and, coming from a primarily english-speaking home, it became harder for him to learn the language. Furthermore, his father was never quite "all there," constantly prepping Haruka for a supposed "end of days."

Haruka was drilled on fitness and preparation/survival skills, and conditioned for all sorts of ridiculous situations. Though it put him in excellent shape, and kept his combat skills sharp, it only worsened his fledgling social skills, making things worse for him at school, where he found near constant ridicule from his class' bullies.

The only place Haruka found any comfort was in the water. Often his father would take him swimming, teaching him when he was a young boy. Haruka found true peace when he was alone in the water. Actually, it was during one of these instances that he finally put a label to his final difference.

Haruka was at the local pool, long past closing so that he could be alone, when a group of boys from his school showed up. Too enveloped in the stillness of the water, Haruka had no idea that the others had showed up. When he realized what was going on, he was terrified. The other boys began to insult and threaten Haruka, who began to panic. When they started to move towards him, and escape was most certainly not an option, Haruka's fear got the best of him, and he lashed out in a way he didn't know was possible. A wave hit the bullies, knocking them on their asses and letting Haruka flee before he could grasp what had happened. With his powers discovered, he began to develop them with every free second he had, making it his escape. The bullies were now too afraid to mess with him, and though his home life never improved, he had finally found something he could turn to.

(Haruka's is rather malleable, making his corruption rather simple. If he believes that he is doing the right thing, or if he's intimidated, he will use his powers to defend himself, even if that might not be what he's doing, in truth)

    Name: Asuna Nakiri
    Age: 17
    Gender: Female
    Role: Elemental Bearer – Earth

    Appearance: [IMG]

    Alternative Appearance:[IMG]

Personality: Asuna is firm and adamant. She tends to stay the same, rarely changing how she acts around people. Being somewhat of an introvert, she takes a bit to open up to people around her. While she is still fairly calm and unchanging when she opens up to people, the closer they are the more willing she is to show a less restrained side of her. Underneath her introversion lies a thirst for understanding and knowledge. Curious about the world around her, she harbors a strong desire to learn how things work.

    Powers & Abilities:
As the bearer of the earth element, Asuna has control over earth. Rocks, dirt, things one would think of when considering the earth element. With the right amount of creativity, even something like changing the physical state of a rock would be possible. The earth element does have another side to it that others wouldn't normally consider. Because the earth is the source of life, with many myths focused on life emerging from the earth, Asuna's elemental powers give her control over growing plants and even being able to turn living objects to stone. The way she currently is without any sort of training, Asuna is only able to control rocks. The firmer the rock is (An actual rock compared to a chunk of dirt), the greater that control is.
    Skills:
Asuna excels in problem related things such as science. Outside of any sort of educational type skills, Asuna is fairly knowledgeable about outdoor type things such as camping.
    Weapons/Items:
Long sword and gauntlet. The sword appears to be longer than she is tall, though fortunately it can be shortened if need be. The gauntlet is her shield, able to block and withstand attacks from weapons.

Biography: The child of a scientist and a librarian, Asuna was raised to wonder about the world around her. Why the sky is blue, how the sun works, magnets. She questioned everything and frustrated grown adults on more than one occasion when she wasn't satisfied with the answers she received. When she was still young her family went on weekend camping trips. These are some of Asuna's fondest childhood memories. During these trips she could explore and go on adventures to her heart's content. She learned the ins and outs of camping and even some survival skills. Asuna probably learned how to tie more knots than anybody she knows.

As she got older, it seemed like she started to talk less and buried herself in books more. This started to worry Asuna's parents when it was found out that she was accepted to Seji Academy. They were standard parent fears. Their own daughter going away to a boarding school where she didn't know anybody. In their eyes, Asuna had a bit of trouble making friends and instead preferred to read whatever books she had on hand. If she was more outgoing, perhaps they wouldn't have this fear. As a sort of attempt to get Asuna to become more outgoing and open, her family took her on those weekend camping trips again. Asuna didn't care about that though. She was happy to go on these trips again. While she wasn't ever really unhappy, going on these trips caused her to be the absolute happiest she had been for some time.

It was in preparation of one of these trips where a strange event happened to Asuna. Walking home from school one day she decided to take a shortcut through a playground in the neighborhood. Walking across the sandpit she tripped and fell flat on her face. While trying to get back up, Asuna felt a tug on her leg. It felt like she was being pulled by something. Panicking, she turned to look what her foot got caught in. Her heart froze and her breathing stopped when she laid eyes upon the cause of her fall. Reaching out from the sand, a hand and an obscured face were starting to come out. While she couldn't see the face too well, the eyes were unmistakable. They weren't quite human. After what felt like several minutes, a scream finally escaped her lips. Asuna struggled to break free, kicking the hand that had a grip on her leg. Just as it seemed as though she would break free, another hand reached out from the sand, grabbing her other leg. Feeling her body being pulled by whatever it was that grabbed her, she panicked more and more. The sun was still up. Where were the residents? Why was she all alone? Continuing to struggle, Asuna felt the hard cover of one of her text books. With no other options left to her, Asuna grabbed the text book and used that as an impromptu weapon. "Let go of me!" She screamed, swinging with all her might.

With that last scream, her legs were freed. Quickly pulling herself away, Asuna spared one last look at her assailant. It reached out for her, this time appearing to be reaching out for help. Instead of actively going for her, it seemed to be struggling with something. Asuna watched as her attacker looked to be dragged into the sandpit. Not wanting to risk this happening again Asuna quickly grabbed her things and ran home, only stopping once she felt the adrenaline wear off. While she had difficulty sleeping that night, the camping trip she went on the next day helped to take her mind off this event.

Returning home from the camping trip, her family was welcomed by an odd news report. During the weekend it was discovered that the playground Asuna was attacked in was swallowed up by a sinkhole. Unsure what exactly happened the day she was attacked, Asuna mentioned to her family that she was there on that playground the day before they went camping. Before she could comment on the strange events that occurred her parents talked about how lucky she was that she had left the playground before it fell into the sinkhole. She decided not to bring up the subject again.

Name: Original name unknown, referred to often as "Yurei"

Age: Unknown, appears 16 or 17

Gender: Male, though he has appeared female before

    Role: Corrupted by greed

    Appearance: [IMG]
    (Much wider, crazier eyes)

    Alternative Appearance: [IMG]

    Personality:
Absolutely insane, he is hungry for power and release from the bonds that hold him. He seeks only for his own gain, and will not hesitate to screw over his allies for his own benefit. with no known friends or relatives, he has no interest in his own life, or the lives of others.

    Powers & Abilities:
Yurei possesses the abilities to warp time to an extent, as well as a technical immortality. This will be further explained in his bio, but while he technically can be killed, it's a complicated process given his origins.

Time has an odd relation with the elements of nature, bringing trees to their tallest height, but also bringing them to the ground. Making fires blaze their brightest, as well as bringing them to ash. Because of this, he can become either a perfect aid, or a catastrophic enemy to bearers of elemental powers.

Skills: None to speak of, outside of his obvious powers, aside from the extreme intimidation factor he wields, as well as his ability to take a hit. His strength and agility depend on the form he takes, though they never surpass typical human limits regardless of how he chooses to look.

Weapons/Items: A worn short sword, as well as a tell-tale gauntlet of intricately designed gold.
(This, but not quite up to the elbow, and no plating on the palm or fingers)

Biography: Though his origins are a bit muddled, folk-lore from various cultures point back to some kind of ruler from far into the past. As he aged, he became terrified with the inescapable end of his reign, and made a pact with dark forces to keep him from ever having to hang up his crown.

In this deal, he gained immortality, the ability to live forever, as well as the powers to warp time as he saw fit (to a certain extent). Unfortunately, there were strings attached, and while he would go one to live forever, he was doomed to an eternity on hell as well as on earth.

His Earthly soul became bound to whatever form he saw fit (human or otherwise, but nothing mythical or imaginary), while his immortal soul became tied to hell. His entire existence became one of agony, with half of his consciousness in constant torment, tearing him between two realities.

Because of this, it is hard for him to harness his powers without his absolute focus, and the bizarre experience of having his conscious split into two has driven him completely insane. He fights with a short sword, with a style of close-quarters, frenzied hacking, and no regard to his mortal form. He does; however, posses a gorgeously carved, golden gauntlet, that appears on every form he takes, permanently marking him. He may try to conceal it, and while it is always shaped perfectly to the forearm of the form he takes, its shape makes it hard to hid. There is no way to destroy it, as that would release him from his bonds, so it makes an excellent shield from enemy attacks. Though he is immortal, he is easily killed, as odd as it may seem. His earthly form is, well, earthly, and even though the fires of hell have made it almost impossible to feel pain, fatal blows will kill him, and wounds will slow him down, regardless of whether or not he notices.

When he dies, he is briefly sent to a sort of limbo, where he re-materializes in a way he sees fit, before being sent off, having only slight control over where he lands. While he can usually get the general area of where he means to go, focusing on it for a long period of time is so difficult, he can only manage to get near it, often not even within walking distance.

At this point, Yurei has no empathy for any kind of life, never caring who has to die to permit his success. Seeking to be released from his eternal bond, and simply die as he had denied so long ago, he will ally himself with anyone (and do anything) to ensure that he is relieved of his curse.

Yurei is a potentially powerful friend, but a tremendously risky being to join forces with.

The character is well written. But I am still weary of its premise, mainly in where I would go about fitting it into the relations between the elements themselves. It's mainly a personal/philosophical quandary in which I find myself in regards to the character, and my own standard of avoiding 'time' as a element of substance (as I see it as more an element of perception supported by the interactions between said elements of substance). It's just hard to find a place for Yurie within the direction that I've already got in mind for the RP.

Pretty much anything, depending on what sort of character you're thinking of. Telekinesis, super strength if you so desired, etc.

Not necessarily. It can be, but doesn't have to be.
