Kingdom Hearts: Daybreak (IC)

The streets of Moirich, the name for this realm that laid between Light and Darkness, were quiet. The people still mourning the death of their king and queen, who had promised them that both worlds could live in honest peace. This promise was only partially fulfilled as there was still tension between the two realms. But now, as tensions have begun to rise of the question as to who's responsible for the royal family's murder, this burden has been left on the shoulders of an 18 year old girl, who's innocence outweighs her non political views of the world. Little does she know, she's about to be thrown into the mix of something far beyond her world. A world whose doors are about to open right next door in her own back yard.



A small yawn escaped the mouth of Sophia as she slowly began to rise from her bed. Her legs lazily hung off of the side of her bed, her mind not fully together. While she knew she had to wake up, she very clearly did not want to get up. She rubbed her eyes slowly, she had cried herself to sleep again last night and the effects were showing. The only comfort she had was her friends staying in the castle with her, at her request.

They all slept in a room down the hallway, due to tight protection, and were there until she felt better about the situation she was in. Outside she could hear yelling, not having to get up and look to know that it was most likely another riot of sort.

Although this world was made for light and darkness to coexist, it had more recently become a realm where light and dark could do nothing more than fight and argue. Although to Sophia the realm in which they came from was irrelevant, day in and day out, she had to watch as individuals argued daily about politics and who's to blame for the death of the king and queen.

All of these thoughts racing through Sophia's head were slowly pushed back into the back of her mind. She wouldn't concentrate on any of that now. For now, she would concentrate on the most important task of all: getting out of bed.

And what was for breakfast.

 

Sophia laid back in her bed, pouting just a bit. If it were up to her, she would have rather just slept the day away. But she knew Deimos would not allow her to do so. Her best friend since as long as she could remember, she knew he wouldn't allow her to stay in bed all day in such a depressing fashion. So, after a brief moment of silence, Sophia finally managed to pull herself together and stand up, stretching out her arms and letting out a soft groan. "I guess Deimos," she mumbled out, rubbing her eyes.

Finally getting a look at Deimos, looking away as though she were undressed even though she was wearing a night gown, she smiled and hugged his arm happily. "Sleep well?"

 

Sophia smiled and took a step back from Deimos, a finger now firmly poking his chest as the princess gave a small smirk. "Oh, stop it you! I'll be fine as long as you're around! And don't be jealous if I decide to spend some time with my guests." She smiled and raised her arms out wide, as though she was gesturing to everyone in the castle, as she spoke, "I have a whooole bunch of people that want to talk to me and I can't wait."

As she started to give out a small giggle, she heard a voice erupt from the outside of her door.

"Sophie....I'm here."

Taken back at first, Sophia quickly recognized that familiar voice. After all, only one person called her Sophie. She opened the door and looked at Kousei with a cheerful smile as she replied, "And hello to you too Kousei!" She gave the taller boy a hug before stepping back, hands folded behind her back as she leaned forward to speak. "Are you ready for the brunch today? I know it's a bit early for your taste but Deimos thought it'd be safer to do an early feast to stay on the safer side of things."

 

Sophie, eyes bewildered by the high tension in the room, looked back and forth at the two men before giggling slightly. With her innocent personalit, she always figured the two were joking and never took the matter too seriously. She smiled and said to the pair, "Ok boys, you're both equally pretty so no need to argue." She turned her attention first to Kousei to reply to his previous question. "Umm...I think I should be good....I think the staff are handling all the final preparations now. Ooh! But you can wait for me right here until I changed. Is that alright?" She poked her head outside of the door, looking both ways as though checking to make sure the coast were clear. She came back in and put her hands on her hips and stood up straight, nose up. "And if anyone says anything about you, you just let them know that I said it was ok! I do have that sort of power after all!"

 

Sophia, smiling as Kousei, albeit not entirely willingly, agreed to wait for her outside. However, before she could say another word to him, Deimos shut and locked the door, his concern for her safety outweighing the friendly attitude of Sophia. While this would be an issue for some, Sophia had grown so accustomed to it that, at this point, it had become natural.

With his back to her, Deimos reminisced of the fateful night just a few short days ago, although Sophia could see it as though it had happened mere moments ago. Not wanting to feel the same pain she had been trying to withdraw herself from feeling these past couple of days, she simply laid her head against the back of Deimos, her hands pressed softly against his lower back. "Shhh," she said softly, rubbing his back now tenderly. "You keep blaming yourself for it and all that does is bring the bad memories. Mom always said that dwelling on the past for too long can change who we are, so we should look back on good memories. Besides, I'm sure you'll find out who did it and bring him to justice...Deimos."

After a few seconds of peaceful silence, Sophia hopped back and gave a hearty smile before beginning to piece together her outfit for the day. Thankfully, the staff managed to lay out her clothing the night before, knowing Sophia's poor fashion sense when it came to important functions. Not worrying about Deimos too much, Sophia picked up her clothes and went behind the dressing screen in the near corner, changing into her bright blue dress with only her silhouette showing through the screen.

 

Sophia cheerfully replied to Deimos' semi-optimistic reply, which was better than his recent attitude, "Good! And Deimos, you know I don't need any sort of armor." She stepped from behind the screen, wearing her bright blue dress, her golden hair covering the entirety of her upper back. She smiled and Deimos and pointed at the blue charm that seemed pinned to her dress near her neck and said, "As long as I have this I should be fine! Now...umm..." She looked around the room, seemingly having lost something. "Umm....now where did I put my Key...and my black bow..." She was often forgetful when it came to important things, even on this special day it was to be no exception.

 

Sophia stuck her tongue out at Deimos before taking her Key and bow. She tied the bow carefully in her hair and clipped her Key on her hip. After tugging on it a bit to make sure it was secured, she smiled happily at Deimos and nodded her head. "What would I do without you Deimos," she said, before giving her friend a quick peck on the cheek. Although the question was meant to be a joke, she honestly could not see herself without her guardian and friend. She thought the world of him and thought him to be one of the strongest individuals she knew, and knew he would never leave her side.

Now fully dressed and ready to go, she opened her door, and smiled once more at Deimos behind her. "Well, what are we waiting for!" She turned back around and began to skip happily down the hall, spotting Kousei close to the staircase leading into the hallway adjacent to the dining hall. Trying to be sneaky, she tip toed towards Kousei before sticking her head right above his. "Hey, don't tell me you're already asleep!"
