Living In Fiction: Where Would You Call Home?

    A topic that has come up between myself and various circles of friends in the past, and one that I find quite entertaining to discuss, is what fictional setting/world/universe we would opt to live in if we had that choice. It's generally genuinely interesting to hear about what worlds people would consider living in; as much so is hearing the reasoning behind their choice.

    So, people of KHPlanet. If you could choose to live in any fictional world, which would it be? Whether it be that of a game, novel, comic, anime, TV series or movie; whether fantasy, science fiction or a more realistic setting. Be sure to explain your choice, and feel free to comment on/discuss the choices of others.

    To get the ball rolling, my choice (and shamelessly so):

    It may seem like a childish choice (unless you take some of the darker takes on the series into account), but for me, it was an honest choice between Pokemon or Digimon. In either event, the inspiring factors boiled down to: the companionship of a substantially intelligent animal-type companion, and the incitement of living within a world where real life and adventure are pretty much a hand-in-hand thing, or at least, the latter isn't too far of a leap from the former. Both present worlds in which the excitement of going on a journey isn't gratuitously hampered by the danger of the constant threat of death, as it would be in other franchises. Either one would seem a balanced line of the thrill of adventure with a slightly more lighthearted, and not necessarily life-threatening prospect.

    However, at the end of the day, Pokemon had to win out. I opt for the world of Pokemon over that of Digimon on two major counts: first and foremost, that, while less adept for human conversation, Pokemon can be kept in somewhat large quantities; in my mind, it'd be like having a completely self-owned animal shelter, and the bond with them would be no less substantial than the more linguistically sufficient Digital Monsters. On the other count, it comes down to the fact that in the Pokemon world, Pokemon and having said Pokemon is more a fact of life; pretty much everyone in that world, after a certain age, has at least one Pokemon to call their own. The world of Pokemon is, between the two, the one where the very elements that make it a unique place to live, are accessible on a wide scale, rather than reserved for a select few.

    Well as obvious and cliche as it would sound, I would love to live in the Kingdom Hearts Universe. ONLY IF I WAS A KEYBLADE WIELDER THOUGH. ;w;

    I've always loved the idea of travelling to different places that are out of my own comfort zone, like foriegn places or places out in the middle of nowhere. Pokemon doesn't really reflect it that much because as vast as the pokemon world is, it's very similar to our own world structure. With Kingdom Hearts, you're visiting different worlds. Places that are so unique from the last. I think a lot more comes from Kingdom Hearts that I would enjoy, even if Pokemon is super tempting with raising different animals to become the best.

    There are a lot of universes I'd enjoy being a part of, but most of them only if I were special- to use Dion's example, what's the point of being in the KH universe if you're just cannon fodder for heartless? And I don't think I'm especially inclined to be special.

    But if I had to choose one, I think I'd want to live in a Disney animated universe- where for the most part, average people are content with their lots, bad guys get what's coming to them, and anyone can get their happily-ever-afters. Also magic. Shrek's universe would be pretty cool too. Same sort of deal. XD

    Hmm. Any universe huh? I know!

    I'll probably think of a better one later, but I like the idea of a virtual AI that can do practically anything that you tell it. Then collecting cards or chips or whatever it is these days and battling would be equally as enjoyable. Or maybe actually becoming a "Megaman" would be cooler! Living together with machines and such, saving the world.
