Name: Kayla McKenna

Personalty: The mask of masculinity is nothing lost in Kayla's demeanor. She displays an outward 'toughness' that most of her same-gender peers frequently find unsettling sticking to a more stoic and reserved nature emotionally. It's not out of shyness or being mean that creates this front, but the sake of a level of control unlike that of even most boys at that age. It's just not difficult to rattle Kayla's cage to bring her to words or blows (though some people assume that of something did, she'd get more than one good bit in). She speaks in a calm, alto voice, absent, to the frustration of others, of any obvious tones of expression.

Yet behind her drumset, this controlled facade meets with a revealing ferocity. Performance breaks her from her typically placidity and dryness, unveiling the more colorful, demanding spirit beneath the mask. Yet still, this power is as well within her control as it would before any sixteen-year-old performer, resulting in a controlled sort of aggression and an accurate sense of when to go all-out and when to hold back. Frequently asked about this disparity, she calmly replies to inquiries with a simple statement: "I just let my drums do the talking."

Biography: Kay was raised in what some might call an "unconventional" household. Her mother was the second wife of her father, whose first wife had passed away about two years before Kayla was born. As it so happened, her father had three boys from his previous marriage. Kayla would grow up with a strong 'traditional' male influence perpetuated by her father and half-brothers. While she got glancing feminine influences from her mother's drive to "raise a girl," there was little chance of that being a fully realistic prospect. Kayla's childhood was filled with playful roughhousing and the old chestnuts of "suck it up," and "tough it out," and "take it like a man." All of these stuck and developed a quick sense of keeping a calm, undramatic head on her shoulders.

As it also happened, the family into which she was born was filled out the window with musically (and theatrically) inclined young men. All three of her half-brothers were into music; the eldest was enamored deeply in string instruments, while the younger two were diehard percussionist like their father. With the latter two around more often through her life due to their age, Kayla took to them as her role models. She too hold of her first drumstick at age five along side the youngest of her three brothers, and kept pace with him throughout their lessons and well into their preteens, at which point they both found their own outlets through garage bands.

Kayla latched onto a young band in her neighborhood that went by the name "Scram," which mostly emulated and covered hard rock and punk material from the 70s, 80s and 90s for the public to hear while seeking out a more modern style for their more original, long-term goals in solitude. However, Scram eventually suffered from internal artistic disagreement. Each member had uniquely different visions for what they wanted in their sound. Eventually, things boiled over and one year ago the band members decided to split up and seek out ways to accommodate their stylistic preferences. Like her former bandmates, Kayla went out in search for a new group to perform with.

Personality:
Krystal is a free spirit, never letting anything get her down. Though she deals with bullies on a regular basis, she goes about her days cheerfully and without incident. She's well known for hiding her emotions, and also for being an openly bisexual(though she prefers girls) girl, proudly announcing it to anyone she meets. She's always smiling, even when she's being picked on, or hurt, but her internal walls are beginning to crack. She releases all her pent up emotions through song, playing the Bass Guitar and singing her heart out to anybody and everybody who will listen.

She's also a very touchy-feely person, not caring who she grabs or fondles in public, and she does these kinds of things often. Krystal's dream is to find a girl(or boy if all else fails) who can protect her, and love her for who she is. But she's hidden those feelings away, only occasionally letting some of them out through her lyrics.

Biography:
Born Krystal Alexandria Gjemn, Krystal was raised by her father, as her mother died after giving birth. They lived in a small house, and growing up, she learned to see the good things in life over the bad, mastering the ability to hide her true feelings away and putting up a permanent mask of happiness. Singing was Krystal's escape, she started by just singing in the bath at age six, but by age ten she was singing anywhere and everywhere she went. While she received praise for her voice, she never truly pursued a career in singing and songwriting, and instead continued to go to school to get better, and find somewhere she could truly express herself.

It was her father who taught her how to play the Bass when she was nine, and at thirteen years old, she managed to save enough to buy her own. She soon discovered that she could turn her hidden feelings into lyrics, and let them out when she sang. It was this realization that led her to begin writing her own songs. It wasn't easy, and she never sang the songs she wrote publically, or at all for that matter, instead, she hid them away, until one day when she could truly, openly, express herself through her music...

And that brought her to the door leading to the K-ON Music Group... This may be her one and only chance, and she'd never forgive herself if she passed it up(not like she had much of a choice anyway) so with that thought in mind, Krystal had opened the door to what would hopefully be her freedom...
