The White King

Will looked at him and shook his head. "Only since recently. They all started talking about the 'Tall Man' and the 'Operator'. They started talking about this and disappearing into the woods and then this. He was never this angry. I'm normally the one with the bad temper, and you know that for a fact." He breathed, watching his brother stride off as he looked over to Jason. "Anyway, I'm hungry. Wanna go get some food? We can ask her to come too." He said, nodding to Athena.

 

As Shuya walked he couldn't help but notice that the whoile town was almost completely silence, with all the old houses and closed shops it seemed like a ghost town to say the least. The fact that the streets were almost completely empty only added to the eerie feeling in Shuya's stomach coupled with the fact that he felt as if he was being watched didn't help so he decided to freerun to the nearest restaurant in order to keep his mind off all of that.

 

As Chaz and his friend approached his home, he had noticed his babysitter was standing in the doorway. "Matt so what do you want to do first?" The boy said as he took off his backpack and handed it to his babysitter when approaching her.

"Hi Cindy" He said after placing his backpack in her hand. Chaz then looked back at Matt. "You hungry?" Chaz asked curiously as he ran in the house and into the kitchen. Chaz looked around the large room filled with cabinets, multiple pans hanging from the ceiling, and a wine rack in the far wall away from the doorway.

 

Will smiled. "Cool, I know a good place in town. Give me a sec." He said, jogging a bit towards Athena. "Hey, Athena right? We were wondering if you wanted to come get a bite to eat with us. Have some friendly conversation too!" He called, looking back at Matt and mouthing the words 'I got this' as he turned back around. "Come on, my treat! I swear we don't bite. Well, Jason maybe. But I'm clean as a whistle!" He joked, waiting for the girl's response.

 

Athena was taken off guard for a moment. She never really talked to anyone, so for someone to approach her it was rather strange and she felt a bit sketchy about the situation. She hasn't spoken to anyone so no one really heard her speak, which made everything just a bit more worse. She looked over the boys shoulder and saw the same boy who was once in the shadows now stanging by the trees. She quickly shifted her gaze back to the other boy who was talking to her. "Uhh, I didn't c-catch your name." She said softly. Her voice was a bit high but not too high like the other preppy females at school, and her appearance didn't make it seem as if it were her voice. Maybe one of the reasons she never talked to anyone. She did have homework to get done and she hasn't remembered talking to these guys so why would they seem as if they were closer than close? People were acting weird now a days and she bet it had to do with the rumours-

She quickly shook the image from her head and waited on the boys reply.

 

Will jogged over, signalling for Jason to follow. "Sorry. Hi, my name's Will. I think we spoke once or twice in school. This is my buddy Jason. We're going to get some food and were wondering if you wanted to join. Maybe have some friendly conversation?" He asked, slowly rubbing the back of his head as he realized he had shoved his foot into his mouth for what seemed to be the millionth time. "Sorry, just noticed you were wandering off alone and that doesn't seem to be a good thing these days." He said, caring nature coming out.

 

Athena thought for a moment. She didn't normally eat and the rumours going around didn't really scare her that much, but of the thought of that crazy guy who was just around, it was one thing to be weary of.

Athena looked down shyly. "S-sure, I mean, I have nothing else better to do so..." Maybe it was good to have a bit of communication with people. Maybe thats what she was lacking now a days, just a bit of communication.

Athena raised her head again and her black, blue tinted hair falling over her right eye. She flipped it away casually and watched carefully to see if the boy that the other boy, now known as Will, motioned over, would actually join.

 

Will patted Jason on the back, grinning as he said the next part. "Alright then! Now that we've had our little introductions I say we head out. It's not far from here, only a few blocks." He said, eyeing their surroundings. The playground had gotten very quiet because they were now the only ones standing there. He shivered for a second before looking back at the girl and smiled before starting to walk off, motioning for her and Jason to follow.

Athena walked followed Will and waited for the other one known as Jason to follow. It shouldn't be bad mixing herself with other people, she was alone most of the time anyway and didn't want to seem like a freak, more less be called it anymore. So, if certain people saw her with other people, maybe they can calm their stories and leave her alone, because thats what the people now a days need, is a story.

Athena reached in her bag and pulled out her iPod, shutting off her music which she thought she had turned off before and wrapped up her headphones again, throwing it in her bag again. she walked a lot, so this was simply like walking from class to class. She found it more relaxing to walk then to be driven everywhere or to simply ride a back for that matter.

 

Chaz growled as he heard Matt's remark, then replied saying. "You know my Xbox is fixed,". Chaz only watched as Matt went through the cabinets looking for chips, as he always did when he came to visit. Chaz didn't care, at least he wasn't at home with his dreaded baby sitter Cindy.
Chaz looked at Matt and laughed as he watched him go through the cabinets. "Top left, you nitty." Chaz said still laughing humorously. Chaz had enjoyed the fact Matt was one of his friends, maybe even his only friend. He then turned around and ran to to his room, but before leaving the kitchen he said "I'll meet you upstairs in the game room".

When Chaz arrived in the game room he grabbed the television remote from off of the dresser and flicked on the television to some cartoons. Chaz usually sat in here and watched most of his cartoons because when he went to his room all the un-educational shows were blocked due to his parents wanting him not to watch cartoons before he went to sleep, they said to him that "It would rot his brains faster than a bitten fruit in the desert sun.".

 

"Well we could play Zombies on Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 2 but, you know your not that good with an xbox controller....so how's about Modern Warfare 3 on the playstation?" Chaz suggested. Chaz chuckled a bit before he walked over to his television stand which held his game console's in a panel under the flat screen television. Chaz then cut on his playstation 3 then inserted the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 disk. Chaz looked back at Matt before tossing him a clear playstation controller. He then picked up his classic grey controller and made his way back to his beanie bag.
"Matt we I've gotten way better since the last time we played online" Chaz said to Matt as he functioned his way through the games main menu to the online multi-player section.
"Sign in..."Chaz said impatiently.

 

Will looked over at Athena, boots scuffing on the concrete as he strode. "So, why is it you are so reclusive? I mean, We talked once or twice and you would never really look me in the face, just kinda look away and quietly talk until we were finished." He asked, kind of curious at how shy she was. But then he noticed that Jason was dragging behind a bit. He looked over at Jason, slowing a bit and putting his hand lightly on Athena's arm to slow her down. "Hey man, you ok? You seem kind of quiet today?" He asked Jason, eyes scanning the scenery.
