Wage war. It wasn't a suggestion or command, rather a permanent way of life in that day and age over ten thousand years ago. Those with failing prowess--that is, if you claimed to be a Wingly--would be slaughtered mercilessly, even by their own kin. The options were very clear; do battle or die willingly.

Some lasted only a day. Others lived just long enough to bequeath a dream to an able set of ears.. sometimes there was only one ear left to offer. Wingly verus human; virage versus dragon. Wingly and human generals alike spoke the same language, the same laconic incantation of warfare to their veteran soldiers and vigorous participants. Life, purpose, meaning--all lost at the edge of a blade.

Virage and dragons were merely tools deployed as massive diversions or for full blown assults, and they, too, sustained immeasurable casualities to their races, for a war that wouldn't hold their names. The reality of dragons became legend and myth; virages simply faded from existance as a frivilous concept.

The dragoon warriors were the only heroes of their kind, able to extract and maintain draconic abilities and qualities from their allies. With exceptional control of the elements, they alone were able to lead the humans away from their oppression.

They took control of the Wingly law city, Zenebatos, first.

One by one the dragoons would capture each of the five Wingly cities until the simultaneous claiming of the magial city, Aglis and the captial, Kadessa, would render the humans as the elite race, thus banishing the Winglies to live amongst the shadows of the world.

    Not every Wingly, though.

    "Reborn and Redemption"

Reiku weirds two contemporary blades, each bearing a name and a secret. The amythest blade called Redemption symbolizes the imminent return of her fallen race, and is comprised several mixes of metal, including mythril and a rare raw material known as rainbow shell. It is most closely associated with the shadow element. The flame toned sword named Reborn is a reconstruction of the infamous Dragon Buster, the cryptic sword of the Winglies. Over a period of time the shattered pieces of the fabled sword were collected and merged with light filler material--mostly dragon remains--and thus Reborn was forged. It has no elemental properties persay, but is rumoured to be extremely effective against dragons and those of draconic nature.

    Name: Navilus Torsélli
    Age: 18
    Race: Al Bhed
    Homeland: Carson Forest

It was in the thick of a vivid woodscape, later dubbed Carson Forest, that Navilus Torselli came to be on one clear, starless night. Like all Al Bhed children from Carson, Navilus grew up far away from Yevon temples and in full awareness of Spira's disdain for those who coveted the forbidden machina; and yet, even when such small hands gently stroked the sleek, shiny machines that kept their tiny province functional, it felt completely natural.

The Carson colony was stabilized in the heart of the forest, and the village abodes and public establishments were crafted atop the leafy canopies like bird nests. A facile system of pulleys and platforms utilizing machina allowed villagers to easily reach their homes from the forest floor, where land would be leveled and small gardens of vegetables would be sewn. It was a simple life where prosperity was measured in happiness and kindness towards others. No one could ask to develop a more perfect utopia.

Sin incarnate: a physical interpretation of the word, the king of behemoths that reigned by fear, death and devastation. Sin did not exclude the Al Bhed's new world from its flight of terror, but they did not link it's genocidal tendencies to their own wrongdoings, as Yevon's teachings convinced the rest of Spira. Instead, they viewed it as a natural occurrence; Sin, the mutual enemy that kept humankind bound together against it, so that they could enjoy life more, together in companionship, before it is brought to an end.

It was a better pretense then Yevon's way.

The Carson settlement grew into a moderate-sized community in the thirteen years of Navilus' life. The grey-irised youth delved into a pleasant childhood, tinkering with scraps of machina, foraging for useful materials and aliment, offering an pair of inferior yet agile hands for odd jobs, and sometimes--though quite rarely--imagining what the world outside of their secluded wildwood was like. It was unknown to Navilus that such an opportunity would come too soon.

    Name: Rain Vaniër
    Age: 18
    Homeland: Leora, Gran Pulse
    Weapon: Gunblade

    C H A R A C T E R B I O G R A P H Y

Pulse, in the eyes of any Cocoon-borne, was the detestable lowlands of their pristine habitat, that spawned both man and beast unfit to walk before any fal’Cie. The vast fields, rolling hills, rivers, springs, caverns and mountain ranges, were all uncharted, untamed, and completely unattainable--a foreign concept to the power-wielding Primarch and his army.

To Rain, Pulse was a heaven on earth. She grew up strong and healthy alongside her younger sister, exploring the beautiful but dangerous outskirts of their home village. The sisters were orphaned at a very young age when a Pulse fal'Cie selected their mother and father for a mission that it deemed important. It was no secret to the villagers of Leora that once a l'Cie was chosen, two fates existed at two extremes--crystal, or C'ieth--regardless of the outcome, a l'Cie never returned. Unlike Cocoon, on Pulse, Pulse l'Cie were not hated nor feared, but instead, revered as great heroes charged by the fal'Cie personally with protecting and shaping Pulse.

As Rain approached adolescent years, frightening groups of armed men in uniforms swept across Pulse on mechanical steed and vehicles. They ravaged the land, slaughtered the wildlife, depleted natural resources, salvaged Pulse technology, and destroyed villages--homes--lives. The young girl came to recognize these terrors as PSICOM soldiers, and deep within her chest sparked a flame of enmity and contempt for Cocoon that could never be doused.

Leora had been blessed with many years of tranquility because of its natural barrier of mountain and forest. The villagers knew that this good fortune would not last forever and they would eventually be discovered by the PSICOM army, so they pleaded to their fal'Cie for a prolonged aegis. He responded promptly. Kathias had appeared before them in the midst of their village, and he would indubitably make one of them a l'Cie.

Rain had looked to each villager that day through sky blue optics and saw brittle bones, expectant mothers, and innocent children. Everyone already had their own personal focus imperative to the functionality of Leora. The girl, just days after her eighteenth birthday, stepped forward with a confident smile and no regrets. She would become Kathias' l'Cie, and bring justice and peace to the land--for her sister--for her parents--for Pulse.
