I will be right back on this but I cannot type a lot since I am at school but this is the debate that I want to bring up: Is judging right? Should judging be done at a particular time. How come there are so many people who kept on using the old phrase from the bible "Judge notso that you will not be judged?" I will be right back on this but now, I want all of you to argue on this. As for me, I already know my answer. I say that it is alright to judge but only if you judge righteously.

Factor that Brandon! Judging righteously? That's a load of crunched numbers! There is no Righteous judgement, there is only bad judgement. Nobody should be judged by character, appearance, or anything for that matter. You want to know someone, then get to know them! Don't listen to what others say about him or her, take initiative. Ask the person! Don't judge!

Judging people is wrong on many accounts. For one, it's unjust and completely prejudice. Two, the saying never judge a book by its cover comes in REAL deep here. Three, why would you want to judge someone anyway? It's wrong, and most of the time, harmful and politically incorrect. Most things people say are said out of spite. And I can use myself as an example of this... I lashed out at Destiny because of how she judged math. I used this judgement to make-up a false outlook and judgement of my own which was extremely far off. I misjudged her and I know now that what I said was wrong and completely irrelavent. It also went against what she and I had talked about not even an hour prior.

What I'm really trying to say is judgement is not a true outlook. Don't believe the shit other people tell you about a person, find out for yourself what the person is like. Righteous judgement is just a factored up way of saying "I'm judging you because God told me to." And that is a crock of shit if you ask me. So Brandon. To answer your question... No people should NEVER be judged. It's just not right, and it's just not fair.

XD Oh wow. You need to reevaluate on that. If there is no righteous judgement, then what do you call about the Judges who gives punishment to the criminals who do deserves to be punished? Hm... exactly.

First off, I am more heading towards as to what would happen with events and incidents. I am not talking about one first look (Although it is true that you cannot just go and assume they are something that they are not).

XD HAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Judging is not unjust and can never be prejudice if you actually get all of the facts first. Besides, I know that you too had judged too, especially when it comes to an incident and you decide as to who is doing what. Besides, judging/ to judge is, from the many versions of a lot of informative dictionaries:

Now what can be unjust about judging is if you just go and say "HE IS WRONG!" and you have no information from both sides. Who knows! One side may only heard one truth and the other side may be just lying and just want some attention. What can be righteous is when you find the facts (Not lies) and you make a careful opinion and conclusion as to what is right and what is wrong. XD And judging being prejudice? :p Those who do the one look and then form a wrong opinion about someone need to get their head out of the gutter. Oh yes! You may not be able to judge the book by it's cover but you can judge the book once you open it and read its contents. ;D Now THAT is "DEEP" and I made that up all by myself! Get the facts from the book/ read it for once and then pass a sentence as to whether it is alright or not.

Judging is not wrong. This is why you have courts, judges and juries and why you tend to have meetings when there are an incident that involves between two students at school. Now, the word that I have underlined: Harmful. Just how harmful is it when it is actually true that the person is guilty? Is it harmful or hurt them because they do not want to believe know that they are doing or are they just trying to have people believe their lies? Now, we do have lawyers who will back up the liar but that is their job and it can be politically "incorrect" when you make up a story/rumor on the person.

xD OH YAAAH! I definitely remember that after I reminded you as to who definitely has the power to ban your butt. ;D As I said before "Get your mind out of the gutter." Right now, you are trying to say that the Circumference of a circle equals to 2 times the radius when you went and left out the yummy fact called pi.

Uh huh. Say that to the judge; try saying that to the pastor when he is solving a dispute, try saying that to the leader of the United States. Try saying that to the principal of your own high school when he decides why the two of you were fighting and decide as to whether you deserve to have in-school, deserve a suspension or to have detention. Righteous judgement means "Based on what I am hearing from both sides, I draw to the conclusion that this side is wrong and this side is on the right or both sides is in the wrong because of this and that". And to counter your statement about judging is not fair:

"It is fair when you go and murder someone or go and bully someone and you deserve to have something handed to you for condemnation. ;D Don't do the crime if you cannot handle the time of the consequence."

    Judging people is so right!

I judge people, Sho judges people, Brandon judges people, and Bot judges people. It's all good!

@Sho. Judging is good! What if I say only bottom feeders like math? What is your opinion of me?

@Bot. Ah that's sad but judging isn't wrong as long as its not to persuade someone elses judgement.

@angel so what your saying is... if you saw someone in all black and neon colors. looking out of society, you would judge them?

Too bad that no one will avoid getting judged. That is a part of reality. Bullying shouldn't stem from it anyways. And as for everything else that you said after that...:confused::confused: Meh.

Point is. being judged is just pointless. its the persanality that matters.

Judging is not pointless. Judging people saves lives, judging people you can tell whether someone is lieing, judging people shows that your not ignorant or oblivious.

And I'll gladly accept the high five!

I'll probably be like "freak" and move on....It doesn't make me a bad person. Shoot, I'll wear all black and neon colors with them if I wanted too.

In my personal opinion I believe judging is the right thing to do based on the situation, after you have more facts about someone and something and believe you have a solid understanding of the who, what, when, where, how I believe it is your right to judge based on facts and your beliefs while on the other hand when you have no idea what the heck your talking about, judging is far from righteous and loses it's meaning as judgement and becomes empty criticism with any empty mind.

You can never have all the facts on a person! You can't fully know someone. So even if you don't know what the heck your talking about. It's okay to judge. Let's say there is this kid making a scene in a store wanting candy. The mom or dad buys the candy. I would say the parents are push overs and the kid is a spoiled brat when in fact the parent could have only spoiled that child for the first time.

Judging is needed and not needed. Let me break it down for you...

Sterotypical Judging, Bullying, Teasing, etc.=Bad Judging=Not needed: This judging as we all try so hard to eliminate needs to be gone, however it will not. I'm going to refer to the bible, and explain this scientifically as well. Brandon your quote from the bible refers to this type of judging. "Judge notso that you will not be judged" means that people should not judge somebody so they won't be judge that way. It's like you tease somebody to make yourself look like the tough one so you do not get judge the way you're judging that particular person.

Judging in the bible, when speaking about this, is bad, it is a sin. We put others of the same kind down and we classify them terribly, it makes so many lives horrible. However as a sin is a sin it cannot be stopped. This something can be viewed as a natural occurrence, with not only our species but all species. For instance, wolves only the strongest can be the alpha, and though they fight somehow the alpha always remains the alpha, the omega is the weakest but what test does the omega go through to be proven the weakest?

I know this teacher at school, he is against bullying particularly teasing and stereotyping. He however completely unaware of this does the very thing he's against. If it be about a particular student who doesn't do his work or that one teacher who is not allowing a student to work on a project for his class or to come down and hang up posters. He stereotypes and judges others completely unaware he does this.

Criminal Judge, Law Enforcer: So just the other day we had a guest speaker in one of my classes come in and speak to my sociology class about the way the law is judged and how punishment is served now a days in court. I was surprised, but at the same time not surprised to see that there are several cases where people go straight to serving jail time and paying a large amount of money without going to court meanwhile there are cases where a court hearing needs to be held for people you know committed a crime.

For instance the state of New York was the example he used, has it where if you own an unlicensed gun, you had to go serve 5 years in jail, and pay this huge fine. You had no court hearing or a chance to fight against it. He didn't go any further about this, but I look at this and I find it ridiculous for that. Number one, what if it's a poor guy and he lives in a poor unsafe area of New York City with his wife and two kids. The family can barely support themselves and risk every night there apartment being broken into, the husband murdered, the wife and daughter raped and sons murdered. How are they going to defend themselves, by having that gun they have added safety, but they can't afford to buy food so they're not going to spend the money on a gun license. Next example a father may have just lost his young son in war. His son owns a gun that he now owns. He never going to use the gun, but it was his son's treasured gun so he's not going to get rid of it, why pay for the gun license if it's not being used and is maybe sitting on display?

I could think of several more examples, but those are just some. In the state of New York however, murder and rape and kidnapping criminals get a court hearing, and they could be guilty and known to be guilty such as video surveillance, however they get a chance to fight against the judge. How fair is it to the poor man owning an un-license gun has to go to jail without a chance to speak against it where as the murderer caught on camera shooting a man gets the chance to fight against it?

Also judges(or rather now in the U.S., jury deciding the judgement) are needed in helping to punish criminals. They may not be police officers, but they are defending the streets by giving a life sentence to the murderer.

Self-Judgement, Gut, Heart/Mind/Soul- Self judgement is very important, it allows us to judge what's good and what's bad, what's safe and what's not, what to do and what not to do. Without it the whole world would be in ruin as we harmed ourselves and others, bad and good things stop seizing and became complete chaos, and we wouldn't know how to save our world.

There are several more forms of judgement, some good some bad, it all depends. These three reading your first post is what strikes me as being the most important forms of judgement.

Why not break down this whole right/wrong thing, for the lulz.

First off, I'm gonna go ahead and post my conclusion first. Each of you are only human. If you wish, go ahead and judge. If you don't wish to judge, then don't. Although (Again, for the lulz) I might as well point out to all of you who are saying judging is wrong that the moment you come up with an opinion about what I am saying, each and every one of you will have judged me and my opinion.

Anyways, the question of this thread (Is judging right) is too broad to properly debate. First off, right how? The action itself? Doing it just because we can? What if you judge somebody, and good or bad you do nothing with your judgement? If we are to ask if judging is right, first there needs to be something established that explains what is meant by right. Morally, ethically, etc.

Secondly (And a swerve towards a more philosophical question), is anything right or wrong? To be honest, I'm going to lean more towards no (Also, to whomever may try to debate this point, do not bring religion into it. I am talking about humans alone and nothing else). We only deem something right or wrong because something in our lives influenced us to make such a decision. But in a scenario such as this (Again, is judging right), who is to say that either argument is right? For those of you who say judging is wrong; what makes your opinion right? And for those of you who say judging is right; same question. If you're going to take something that humans do every damn day (And trust me, you do judge every day), can you really deem it right or wrong? Judging is second nature to a person. Saying that judging is right or wrong is like saying breathing is right or wrong. It is neither and instead it is simply something we do. You can make your own decision to control these things (Judging and breathing), but once you forget to make your own decision your body will automatically do it.

So, again, you're all human. Judge if you want to, don't judge if you don't want to.

Actually, if you read the bible more and actually go beyond the " Judge not, that ye yourself shall not be judged", you would actually know that God expects his people(Those of God Jesus Christ) to judge and that judging CANNOT be a sin if you judge righteously but there are guidelines for one to judge Nicole. I can actually give you evidence:

I agree with everything Desert Warrior says, especially:

    XD

Everyone judges. Sometimes people may take in all the facts before doing so and sometimes they may jump to conclusions, but they still do it. To be honest, I don't see how it is possible to truly not judge. So in that case, I don't see how it matters if it is right or wrong. I don't think people can really stop doing it.

And possibly I should add more to my post, but really, DW just summed it right up for me.

*facepalm summoner* that part of it going against the judgement he's referring to. The last one would be that judgement.

And as I said pretty much the samething as DW but gave examples of different ones, you can't stop judgement, it's part of human nature.
