Hey guys. Lately around the forum I have seen lots of people start to become more interested in GFX and wanting to become better.

If anyone has any questions, just post them here. I will make tutorials, direct you to tutorials, share general knowledge. If you want renders or C4D's I can take care of that as well. Just ask.

    When asking:
~Tell me what software you use.
    ~ Be specific.

What's the best way to put a character in front of a background and blend him or her in ?

I would suggest renders and blurring. WHat software do you use? I can help/explain more if I know that.

Okay I'll go with photoshop since that is what I am familiar with.

    1) Renders are great in order to put a character in front of a background. [A render is a picture that has everything around it cut out. See this link for examples of renders.Renders - Kingdom Hearts Insider You'll notice there is all white around the characters. When opened in photoshop, there will be a checkered board around them, signifying that the only imagery is the character its self. ]

    2) Layers. Layers. Layers. Be sure to layer things properly. Put your render on top.

    3) Smudge and blur. It would be good to duplicate a render a few times and smudge versions to create a fading effect. Some goes for blurring. For a good smudging tutorial click the link. A complete guide to smudging | Photoshop Signature Tutorials - Sigtutorials.com

    4) My personal favorite way to blend is through using a Gaussian blur. (Filters>Blur>Gaussian blur) on an applied image (image>apply image) and then to set it to the blend option soft light.
