    Final Fantasy: Lords of War

    Chapter 1

I watched as a dark blob began to slowly march towards us. That blob was the army of Craus and there dark blue uniforms. There seemed to be about one thousand men to engage our army. We had an army of, eh, approximately three people. I looked at my two best friends beside me, Kane and Arelina. We were the most skilled fighter of mankind, there were other races that had stronger fighters than us, but the army of Craus was a human army. Craus is an ancient city known for its great power and our mission was to kill every single one of their soldiers, even if it meant risking our own lives. That day things went terribly wrong.
“You guys ready for this?” Kane said not even glancing at me or Arelina. He had a good build, and was very strong. He had short spiky brown hair.
“Yeah, I mean we took down that army of five thousand the other week didn’t we? So, we can definitely handle these guys.” I replied glancing at Arelina. She just nodded and continued to stare down the oncoming army. We waited a few more minutes in silence, when the opposing army was close enough that I could clearly see their faces. We all looked at each other, their army and mine, and then it was full steam ahead. I watched as Kane took the first moves, gracefully gliding into the sea of soldiers. The soldiers began to charge at Kane all at once.
“Arelina, gimme’ the knives!” I said to her as I began to run into the mob. She tossed two knives through the air. I caught them cleanly and looked at the forthcoming soldiers. I glanced at Kane who had just taken out several soldiers with one sweep of his pole arm. I looked back at my opponents. As one ran at me I slid under his legs stabbing his calf. I whipped around and sliced his back. One down, nine hundred and ninety-nine more to go. I looked aver at Arelina who gracefully let arrows fly through enemies. The raging war went on for several more minutes the Army of Craus’ numbers were quickly depleting.
After I had my knives kicked out of my hands I fled to the nearby woods. As I bolted between trees I noticed a group of Craus soldiers who were armed with guns. I darted into a small cave to avoid them seeing me. Unfortunately they stopped right above the cave and I could hear them talking and shuffling their items around.
“We should go after the big guy, he seems to be one of the biggest threat, ehh?” one of the soldiers stated. Based on the shuffling and other murmurs there seemed to be about five soldiers on the roof of the cave. I shoved my hand into the darkness feeling around for a weapon of some sort. My hand felt the thick branch of a pine tree. I wielded the branch with both hands, and began to slowly inch my way out of the cave, I slowly and as quietly scrambled up the ledge to where the soldiers were sitting. I looked through a clearing and saw Kane. He had been surrounded by a group of gunmen as well. I watched in pain as he stood no chance and was quickly gunned down.
“Kane!” I said a little too loudly.
“Did’ya hear that?” one of soldiers said. I began to quickly scramble down the wall. I watched as their faces peeped over the ledge along with their guns, the weapons quickly pointed at me.
“Freeze!” another one said. I made one small slip, and they unloaded. I get to several times in the shoulder, I then fell what seemed like several minutes to the ground. My back hit the rocky floor of the forest, and my spine crunched as I began to spit up blood. Right before I blacked out, I watched Arelina make the same mistake as I had made by charging into the group of enemies.

    Chapter 2
I woke to find myself looking at the dimly lit ceiling of a jail cell. I quickly sat up, just to double over in pain just as quick as I had sat up. My spine felt as if it were on fire.
“Are you okay?” said Kane’s familiar voice.
“Does it seem like I am?” I retorted putting my hands on my back. I then came to my senses and for the first time truly realized that we were in a jail cell.
“Wait! What happened?” I said recalling the image of Arelina running into the group of soldiers, “Wait… never mind. I remember it now…”
“Yeah, it was pretty ugly…” Arelina stated. I looked at her arm where she had been shot. The wound looked deep and I wondered if the bullet was still in her arm.
“Is it still in you?” I asked.
    “What?”
“The bullet.” I said. She looked down at where she had been shot and just nodded. Then a few moments later there was a quiet yet rapid tap on the door.
“Your dinner is here.” said the voice of a guard. Kane got up and accepted the plate through a small opening in the wall. There were no bars in the cell, just large metal walls, so you couldn’t see them and they couldn’t see you.
    “Anything else?” the guard asked.
“Yeah can we have a glass of water?” Kane asked. The guard stuck his hand through the opening. Then, Kane did the unexpected. He grabbed the guards arm and began pulling. The guard did scream in pain, but I guess he was the only jail guard, so no one heard him. Eventually it seemed as if the guard had passed out. Kane reached through the slot and felt the guard.
“Keys!” he exclaimed. He pulled them off the guards belt loop. He felt his way around to the lock and the door was open in a matter of seconds. The only problem was, I couldn’t walk.

    Chapter 2 (Cont'd)
“Ah great, now what?” I complained.
“Well, I guess I’ll just have to carry you.” Kane said lifting me with both arms, “Here you take this. While we are escaping, shoot anyone who tries to stop us. Got it?” He handed me a hand gun from the guard’s belt. With that he began running through the corridor of jail cells, when Arelina had a brilliant idea.
“Wait!” she exclaimed, stopping in her tracks, “What if we let all these other prisoners out? We would have a better chance of escaping in all the confusion!” Kane nodded his head in agreement and handed Arelina the keys. She unlocked every cell and soon the corridors were bustling with prisoners.
“Alright! Alright!” shouted Kane of the roar of the many prisoners, “Well, there isn’t much of a plan guys. But, mainly were all gonna run out and once, and find a way to escape. Sound good?”
Obviously it did, seeing as all the prisoner’s charged out of the room, looking for something to beat any guards with if one stood in their way. Before I knew it, Kane was running with me held loosely in his arms. I cocked the pistol and got ready for what was ahead.
