The entire world is in state of panic. Unexplained events have taken place; huge craters forming inside the earth, buildings catching on fire, tornadoes forming in parts of the world and taking thousands of lives, tidal waves crashing into coastal cities and so and so on. This has caused an increase in the number of suicide cases, people aren’t waiting around to see what happens. People are going on saying it’s the end of the world, that god has forsaken them. But the truth is that the Kanja have been disguising themselves as humans using masks to go all around the world to cause chaos and destruction. The celestial castle in the sky is home to the gods. This is the place where you eat, sleep, study, train, and watch over your loved ones from the watch tower. You are an apprenticed or a Minarai. You are one of the few humans who can see and defeat the Kanja.Your purpose for being chosen is to defeat the Kanja, stop the elemental disasters that are breaking out all over the world, stop any and all threat that cross the divine path of the Celestial ones and to ultimately put an end to the demons.

I jumped from my second story balcony as it exploded. I landed on the ground with a quick roll to avoid causing any harm to myself. The grass was wet underneath my feet probably due to the fact that it had just rained not even an hour ago. I looked up at my window and there stood two men of equal height glaring down at me. Their faces held malice as the reflection of the orange flames danced in their eyes. The man on my right raised his hands at me and I instinctively knew what was coming next. I dodged to my left as I heard the tiny crackle of lightning gather in his hands, unleash and hit the ground. The ground shook and the backlash force of the strike forced me to my hands and knees. I turned around and the spot where I just stood was in a smoldering miniaturized crater. I tried getting up but there was a huge jabbing pain in my left leg. I looked at it and most of the skin on the leg had been taken off, parts of the bone were showing and I was bleeding profusely. There was no way I would be running away anytime soon.

I guess I didn’t get as far as I thought I did. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard the tiny crackle of lightning. I rolled on my sides to the right hoping it would give me enough momentum to get out the way but again I was hit. My left shoulder became singed.

I cried out. The pain was almost unbearable. Who are these guys and what’s so important about me that they would try to kill me?

I tried putting pieces together, fragments of memories from anything that I may have done hoping that they would form some kind of picture or clue as to who would do any of this but nothing came to mind. Everything was too jumbled up between me trying to focus through the pain and fighting the tempting yet nerve-racking urge to slip into the world of the afterlife.
I heard a thud and then what felt like an earthquake. I turned on my good side, what was left of it anyway, and saw that the two of them were walking towards me. I tried backing away but with the wet grass underneath me, the smell of my burning skin, the exhaustion from losing so much blood, it was all too much and I just laid there desperately trying to grasp at a plan but it was too late. They were already standing over me, hands aimed, ready to strike. In one last attempt I tried pleading with them.

“Please, stop this. What did I do to deserve dying?” I asked. They didn’t reply. “Please, why me?” tears began falling from my eyes, blurring my vision. Once again they did not answer. “Plea-“,I was cut off as the second man who up until this point hadn’t done anything pulled out a gun and shot me in the stomach. I started to scream but my voice caught in my throat as he continued to put bullets into my body; my arms, my legs, my shoulders, my chest and yet somehow I was still alive but I quickly realized it was by their choice. When he stopped I was breathing hard and constantly slipping in between consciousness and unconsciousness.

“Enough, mistress wants her dead not tortured.” The man who spoke was the one with the lightning ability. I slowly turned my head towards him and tried speaking to him with my eyes but he looked away and all I heard was the crackle of lightning and then everything went black.

Alexis woke up gasping for air and her breathing only getting worse. It probably didn’t help that she was lying underneath 2 layers of blankets. She sat up, tore the blankets from her body and threw them onto the ground. Attempting to regain her control she waited and after about five minutes she had calmed down and cooled off. Alexis then swung her legs over the edge of the bed and glanced to the right at the clock on her nightstand. It read 4 o’ clock in the morning.

Great, let’s add this to my growing collection of restless nights.

Alexis stood up and walked to the entrance of her room and flipped the switch which turned the light on for the ceiling fan. She glanced around the room, making sure everything was as she left it before heading for the bathroom. Going down a narrow hall and turning into the second door on her right she quickly reached her destination. Flipping the switch she relaxed just a little as her eyes were greeted with the comfort of the bare white walls. Well they weren’t completely white; they had a hint of light blue mixed into it but no one really caught that so why point it out. She slowly walked into the bathroom and approached the square-shaped mirror onher left. For a few minutes all she did was look into the mirror and examine her reflection; just taking in her appearance.

Long black hair that fell past the shoulders and to the middle of her back, near flawless skin that reminded one of sweet white chocolate, black eyes that seemed to hold an untold story of mystery and pain and beneath those eyes were small bags beginning to form from a lack of sleep.

Letting out a loud sigh she turned around and began stripping out of her nightclothes and started the shower. She closed the walk-in door and welcomed the hot water against her now bone chilling skin. A sigh of relief escaped her lips when she started to wash her hair. And just she began to relax her thoughts started to wander to all the craziness that continued to plague her mind.

For the past two months now, I’ve been haunted by the same two men. They hunt me down, torture me and then kill me. It’s in that same order every time but the locations are always somewhere different. For example, I died at school, the mall, my former friends house, in the park outside an elementary school, in the subway and so and so on. It’s like the dreams…no nightmares are telling me that my death could occur anywhere at any time. But besides the constant attack of the nightmares, nothing out of the ordinary has happened. But this has made my paranoia go up significantly and I can’t do anything but put on a smile in front my peers. It‘d just get complicated if they started asking questions and I didn’t or couldn’t give them the answers. And on top of that, im powerless in these dreams. Whats up with that? Usually the dreamer has complete control but its the complete opposite for me.

Alexis put her hair under the shower head and started rinsing. I cant stand not having any powers or being able to put up a fight. Not only is it humilating but it makes me feel like a complete weakling. Once done with her hair she but it in a mini bun and started on washing her body. I should probably talk to Lorelei about this. Maybe she'll have an answer or at least some advice.

Feeling somewhat satisfied with her first course of action, she turned off the shower, grabbed the two towels hanging on the rack beside it and wrapped it around her body and hair. Alexis walked back towards her room and quickly got dressed and made her way out the door to the library where Lorelei liked to spend her time but not before grabbing an apple out of the fruit bowl on her kitchen counter and taking a huge bite out ot it.

 

Alexis jumped/ran down two flights of stairs before making a left turn at a sudden corner. She then continued till she ended up outside which led into several areas of the castle. She went through the training fields, the garden, passed by various buildings that housed the other students and even stopped to look up at the towering watch tower. It was a breathtaking sight no matter how many times anyone saw it. Turning her gaze from the tower she bagan jogging and quickly fell back into her even pace and allowed the cool morning air to splash refreshness against her face. Alexis enjoyed her jogs across the castle grounds. It along with the wisdom of the gods were few of the things on her list that enabled her to really relax. She started to drift into a distant memory but was snatched from it when she noticed she was returning indoors.
Slowing her pace down, she turned a corner on her right and waved at some of the new students. It was always nice seeing new faces. They were always easy to replace since other students thought it was cool to go up aganist a kanja unprepared. Alexis waved the thought away before it brought other random unneccesary thoughts. She climbed a flight of stairs and was surprised when she found a student standing outside the library.

She continued walking towards the door and she got close enough to the point where the boy noticed her. Alexis waved to him and began an unavoidable conversation. "Hey, What's up?"
