I just finished studying this and I want to know everyone's thoughts.

It is arguably true that people who live in the United States have a highly bias view of the world, including that the U.S. is basically the high caliber country. People in the U.S. are very unopen to diversity regarding other countries, and could never imagine the way that other countries work (communism and dictatorship and things of that nature) because they are always painted to be evil while we hold up the flag of justice. Now most people here live in the U.S. from what I can tell, so I personally want your take on this, (but none of that "all people in the world are truely equal to everyone!!! because everyone has their own biases, so don't be that guy). Anyone who does not live in the U.S., if you read this, post what you think regarding this and how everyone in your country feels about the United States.

People are so strung-up over patriotism that you can't even truly say what you feel in the US without it being taboo (unless you 'say the right things.') Anything that puts down the government or American style of living will immediately be attacked by any 'freedom loving' patriots.

Just look at the Dixie Chicks.

I'd argue that statement is probably true of any country whose citizens are more or less content. The US tends to think of itself as the pinacle of civilization. Most Europeans whose opinions I've heard tend to think theat they're more civilized than we are.

As for other systems of government, most intellegent people will admit that communism on paper is a good thing. It just hasn't worked out all too well so far. And a dictatorship isn't exactly a good thing by anyone's definition. Face it, most dictators don't even call themselves dictators.

But that's not to say that people are just opposed to other systems. They're just ignorant and don't know of any others. In fact. most people in this country are ignorant of the system of government we operate under (we are not a democracy). They're probably even more ignorant of the systems of government our allies operate under, most likely either assuming that they are completely different, or exactly the same. When the truth of the matter is, neither of those statements is true.

^ That isn't ENTIRELY true, although more or less it is.

How much foreign Music or Traditions do we practice here in the U.S.? Ill take Japan as an example, In Japan they listen to a vast majority of English music and act very english. Over here SOME people listen to japanese music but not many. Also, i've never seen a family act any more japanese than the "take your shoes off in the house".

Though I live in the U.S., I think that the reason why everybody says were bad is because of the unique way we have grown throughout the years, and how fast we assumed the title of one of the most powerful nations in the world. Other nations had to wait hundreds of years of war and peace and changing forms of government, modifying government, it was just so hectic back then. And they won't recognize the U.S. (within their hearts) that the U.S. is so powerful, but we have also had our hard times as well.

I agree with that. People view the United States as evil because we quickly became one of the leading world powers, and find the way we live our lives here evil because we don't suffer what they suffer.

Well, the US has messed up bad in the past few years. While we aren't evil for having more luxuries than other places, I can't stand it when I see a celebrity walk out of there brand new stretch limo only to bitch and complain about the environment.

I hope everybody who does that dies. Seriously.

It depends on where you were raised. If you are used to being the pampered celebrity then thats just how you behave.

Well we've had a president that knows how to run a economy but not how to run a economy that needs LOTS of changes, like the war is costing so much money, then the housing market crashes (even though it was the president's fault anyway), OPEC spikes up gas prices to make a few extra bucks, and people in the U.S. just don't realize how much they have until its not there because their lifestyle is conditioned to where everything is there for them and all they have to do is work to get it. Yeah and its only because celebrities have such a highly strung out life, I really feel bad for them, they generally have no privacy so when they go home its like they are always having to do something indecent to make such a big deal so that when the paparazis want more the celebs don't give it to them.
