Hey fellow planeteers. I have a important question about KH Coded/ Re:Coded. In KH story as a whole, is this game a needed chapter to fully understand the entire series plotline? I was looking at a lot of features and footage to Re:Coded and personally i thought it looked pretty disappointing as a KH game. It looks like a severe downgrade from 358/2 days. I enjoyed every portable KH, (still have yet to play BBS of course) and i know its not gonna have as much to it as the console ones (which i like the most), but it looks way to dumbed down for its own good. Like, worse then CoM. Yeah, that's how i feel. I just hope i can avoid this one and still enjoy all the other ones.

I'll be honest, it doesnt have that much effect on the storyline. If you've been keeping up with KH news, the story's secret ending has already been ruined. The game itself is enjoyable and I personally liked it. However it isn't need for the story

AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS! Re:Coded was a pain in the ass for me and all I wanted to do is stop playing it during my playthrough. All you need to do is watch the secret ending and you'll save yourself 15 hours...

honestly, i think the game is really fun. the random battle types changing in different worlds give it a challenge. i didn't watch the secret ending and i dont plan on it till i beat the game. plus, it's finally a game that continues after KH 2. i still have yet to beat it. im in Castle Oblivion right now.

Most of the story is unimportant to the overall plotline, aside from the ending of the game and the secret video. however, as far as gameplay goes, I found it much more fun than Days. It might just be me, but the graphics seem better too.

The game doesn't dig a lot of pot holes, so it doesn't hurt the storyline.

But then again, you just need to watch the secret ending on YouTube to know something new about the storyline, so the game doesn't help it that much either...

    Okay, I'm at a loss.

The story forget about it. It's just a story in itself that doesn't highly impact the outcome at all. In my opinion comparing Coded and 358/2 Days; coded is better not saying that multiplayer, choice of characters, and the assortment of keyblades are a bad thing. The reason why is the story has similarities with the original games and a little twist of their own. The gameplay has the clock system which activates different abilities and you can use Overclock, which is like "Limits" on Days, except you don't have to wait for you points to be low to use it. Also a bonus is an Avatar menu which you collect Avatar clothes and accessories which ultimately unlock system sectors. So I would say it is a step above Days but has nothing on BBS.

Thanks everyone for your posts on this subject, however i think i may still need more opinions to really decide. Being the game is 30 or so that i don't want all that money to be wasted.

How about you just rent the game?

I don't like renting games that i cant just transfer my game saves to another source just in case i like it and i do want to buy it. Luckily 3DS can save to SD cards, but not DS sadly. Besides, renting games can be expensive especially when you don't have a game renting subscription service like gamefly, eh i use to have it but money runs short of course.
