Bring Back RPotW?

    It has been over a year(maybe 2) since the times of RPotW, I'm not even sure who all remembers it, I thought it was a pretty cool little competition that helped promote RP'ing and to encourage everybody to do better.

    With much thought, I think it's time to try and bring it back.



    What's RPotW?

    RPOTW, or Role Player of the Week, was a weekly competition started by Hope, Kairu(?), and Oathkeeper(Mr.&Mrs.Smith). Every week there was a different category such as best female character post, best romantic post, and it was the post for the week.

    When a category was decided and posted up members nominated posts for the competition, about half way through the week people would vote on the best post and the winner would be put into the RPOTW Hall of Fame.




    So with that being said, who would want to get this started back up again?

    i think it's a good idea even though i wasn't here during the time it was first extablished. i better better at my RP skills xD

    it would help every one improve easily please bring it back so that we can stop these Gothic emo temps with almost no efferent in it and lacking in abilities that they should post.

    Add a sense able/ Able to tell what's going on category, we need help there easily

    Actually it was all oath's idea if I remember correctly. Ky and I just took over the best we could aftershe left. But I wouldn't mind bringing it back. It was a pretty useful tool to help roleplayers and such but I think I like it better the way we had it when oath originally started it rather than when kairu and I took over. Taking posts from out of rps when nominating shows what people do in every day writing not when they are trying their hardest at a given topic. Possibly it will inspire people to try harder in every day posting if they know they are being watched and could get recognition for it? At least, that's why oath made it. But that's just my opinion. If you like it, take it. If not send it right back... and stuff.

    Yes. Bring this back so I have a chance to get the title once. I need to add it to my list of achievements.

    I'd love to see this back as well. It would give me a reason to hunt down RPs and read them to add my vote.

    EDIT: While we're at it, what about the WotW thread? It only got as far as the 3rd comp...

    I second this motion, for that same reason. :p

    In all seriousness though, this could prove to be a way of 'enticing' higher standards in everyone, especially the newer folks, in the way of posting (legitimate length -not composed chiefly of 'arghs' and 'grrs', sensibility to situation, etc).

    Considering the present format of it, I'd actually prefer it if that was what we had to do. I think it was like that for a short while, where they gave everyone a theme to work with, and everyone who wanted in on it just had to write a piece that was thematically relevant. The way it is right now almost seems like it banks partially on a person's luck of actually having a post that someone can interpret as fitting the given theme, and then being fortunate enough for someone to care enough to notice.

    I'd actually prefer the construction of a fresh post around the given theme, or otherwise, the way it was when people just submitted posts, and people decided who's carried the best effect.
