    The Next
    Prime Merlinian

My name is Merlyn Balthazar Stutler, I'm 15 years old. When I was a child my father and my godparents would tell me stories of sorcerers and magic. I was always fanatasized by these stories. I dreamed of one day becoming a great sorcereress like the ones in the stories they told me. When I turned 10 gave up that dream when my father disappeared. My godparents also completely dropped it and my godfather seemed to always be busy with something. Little did I know that dream of mine, to be a sorceress, would come back to hunt me.

Hello, you're probably wondering who I am. My name is Balthazar Blake, and I am a lot older than I look. To be exact I'm... I really am not sure, I've lost track. I am as you could probably guess, am a sorcerer. A sorcerer master if I will. I'm also an apprentice of Merlin the great wizard or sorcerer whichever you pick and I am the master of the last prime merlinian, David Stutler. I was suppose to die upon David discovering his true powers but I was brought back to life by David. I never told David this, but I never officially died. You see, in my little "sleep" I met with Merlin. He spoke to me explaining about the prime merlinian. Upon David discovering who he was, it awakens the sleeping blood inside him that runs from Merlin. You see David is a descent from Merlin himself. Anyways, Merlin explained to me that now all of the children if they realize they have powers running in them, the blood will just keep getting more powerful. Merlin told me I have to have the powers go to rest if it continues, the blood will get stronger the child will begin to be a danger of a threat or they will become a great threat. Due to this I told David not to tell his children not of their powers they have.

This has me sticking around when David and Becky have their first, and only child Merlyn, named after the great Merlin. I was worried that they may tell her and stuck around Veronica, my wife you can say, and I becoming her godparents. David promises to only fill her mind with false stories like every child, but to never tell her of her powers.

5 years ago, David disappeared. Veronica and I found traces of a dangerous sorcerer who escaped a long time ago. His name is Maxim Horvath. We're worried that he took him for revenge and that if he discovers about Merlyn, she will be in a great danger. Since then trying to hide it from Merlyn, I've taken in three apprentice, 3 of which she knows very well and attends school with them. We're training to go after Maxim, then I awoken to a gift, a gift from Merlin. A letter and a new dragon a little larger than the one David had. It explained about the next Prime Merlinian and possibly the last, and that this one will end the dark sorcerers, known as Morganian Sorcerers, once and for all.

I'm slightly worried and concerned for her safety but as she grows older I discover even without the dragon, she has been gaining some magical powers.

20 years after the last events of the Sorcerer's Apprentince(the year 2020).

Bells to a shop dinged as the door opened up. A man looked up from his organizaing of books. He was alone, his partner and his wife were out on a date so he was running the shop alone.

"I'm sorry, but we're close." The man said aloud. He stopped when he felt the presence of this person.

The man was a sorcerer, a very powerful sorcerer known as the Prime Merlinian. The person he sensced was a very dark evil sorcerer, a Morganian, but not just any Morganian. David felt frozen. Its been a long time since he used any magic.

"Ah, David though, I'm just here to pick up something." The man, David turned around coming face to face with a sort of chubby man carrying a fancy cane. The other man was grinning as he picked up hit hat off the desk on the table. Something that served as a reminder to David, his partner, and his wife, also all sorcerer/sorcereress, that their enemy escaped from them 20 years ago.

    "Horvath!" David quickly exclaimed.

"Hello David. I need to pick up my hat, and you." Horvath stated as he moved his cane to David's neck and performed the perisite spell which causes one's energy be given to the other but only making the other sorcerer or sorcereress unconcious.

Horvath grinned and both David and Horvath disappeared.

    An Hour Later...

Another man and a woman walked into the shop. He was David's partner and real owner of the shop.

"Hey David we're back." His wife called. The shop was quiet. Both the wife and her husband could feel the prescence, long gone, but still could feel it. They both exchange a glance and quickly walked towards the back of the store to the check out desk. To both their fears, the hat belonging to Horvath was gone.

"Horvath..." The man said angry. "Veronica, call Becky." The man told his wife, Veronica.

"Balthazar, what do you plan to do though?" Veronica asked worried. Balthazar knew he wouldn't be able to find Horvath. Knowing Horvath if they haven't seen him for 20 years until now. He turned to his wife.

"What Merlin did, I'll take in apprentices." Balthazar told her. Veronica nodded and hurried to the back room to call Becky, David's wife. Thoughts running in her mind though, what about Becky, is she safe? What about David's young 10 year old daughter?

    5 Years Later...

A school bell rang as students were dismissed for summer vacation. One of the first ones out of New York's Public High School was a 15 year old girl. She ran down the stairs of the school a few people waving to her. She waved back but soon quickly started going down the street.

Her mom wanted her home early today, but like usual she wasn't going to head home, she was going to go to her two godparents shop. It's a magic shop containing "magical artifacts" that brings in a lot of different tourists. Though many locals come because they're all just crazy bizarre antiques.

She turned down an alley shortcut before coming up to the silent, quiet side street, one of few in New York City. Right in front of her godparents shop, Arcana Cabana, est. 1888. She was told by her godfather, Balthazar Blake that it was his grandfather, then it became his great uncle. She wasn't sure who really opened the shop, but she didn't care.

The shop had a dark feeling to it that Veronica did dress up some by having fake flowers in the vases in the glass window. She ran accross the street, Balthazar's old car, which surprised her of its age that it still works, it itself is an antique pratically a 100 years old. She walked up the stairs and opened the door the bell above the door ringing.

"Hello, welcome to the Arcana Cabana." The girl heard a woman announce and then come walking up behind a shelf. "Oh! Hello Lyn. School over?" The girl, Lyn's godmother, Veronica asked her. Lyn nodded.

"Yep, did the guys show up yet?" Lyn asked. The guys were employees who help around the shop, strangely them and her godfather, Balthazar, were always downstairs in the basement or upstairs in her godparents home something she found strange. (OOC: side note, the "guys" and employees" Lyn's referring to is the apprentinces. Seeing as none of the two apprentices so far are her age, she couldn't exactly have gone to school with them).

"I'm really not quite sure. I'll go see." Veronica said running over to the curtain leading to the back of the shop followed by Lyn. The back of the shop contained a bookshelf with many books on it, a desk with many papers, a computer that her father bought to keep a better track on things and that Lyn when coming to the shop used for homework. A couch, TV, and some other antiques waiting to be appraised of a price were in the back. There was a small set of stairs that led to a door than to more stairs to go to the basement. Veronica hurried down the stairs and opened the door some.

"Balthazar! Are you with the others?" Veronica called down. Lyn sat down on the couch hanging her messenger bag of empty folders on the coat rack. She sat down on the couch and heard a crash making her jump up.

"Yes!" Lyn heard her godfather call back. Lyn sighed. Everytime that the others and her godfather were upstairs or in the basement, crashes, a fire, a boom, or something ends up happening. It makes her wonder what's going on, but her godparents and even her mother forbid her of going downstairs to the basement. Upstairs she was allowed, she though seeing their home made her wonder where those explosions and stuff happen.

OOC: Apprentices can come in with maybe going upstairs or something

Kyle had sensed when Lyn had came in and he stood up and looked at Balthazar Blake and waited from his confirmation to go upstairs to meet her. Before Kyle got up the stair he could already tell that Lyn was a nice person from what he had heard about her from the others. Kyle then made his way upstair out of the basement go an meet Lyn. When Kyle got upstair he say Lyn and said "Hello I'm Kyle nice to meet you Lyn".Kyle then realized He had used a spell that made him read her minds. As he did the spell he stared at her in a weird way.

In some law-forsaken corner of NYC, probably a place in Harlem, a passe of young adults sauntered coolly down the street. The group was composed of tough looking Afro-Americans, almost all aged between 18 and 20. Everything about them, right down to the shoes on their feet, served as signs that they were, in any manner, the people in charge in that particular place. As they walked, the were silent, and gave off an air of "strictly business" to everyone that passed by them. Finally, their walked came to a halt in front of a three story house, one of those kinds in which small apartments were often crammed in, and huddled together in front of the steps leading up to a creaking, thin metal door.

From the midst of the group, which bore about ten people at that point, one person came out. Standing at no less than six foot five, this person was large, and bulky, like what one might expect from a body-builder. He was the first of the group to speak up. "You know why we here, yeah?" he asked the others in his foghorn like voice. All together, the passe murmured their affirmatives. "Good," the man continued. "It'll be the same way we done it last time, yeah? Boy goes in to warm the mothers up, and then we take 'em on surprise. Best way to go about it, as far as I can say... Where's the boy at?"

"Here," said another voice, higher pitched, and by that extension, not nearly as threatening as the first man's. From the passe, stepped a younger person, at least 17 years, but with the same composure as his older company. "I know how it go down," he said calmly. "I done this like a million times, T-Rex, you don't need to go over it every time like that, do you?"

"I suppose not," said T-Rex. "Still... just keep that head there on straight. These mothers ain't just playin' today, and today, we gotta have 'em down for the count. Can't afford any more screw ups. We run these streets, and we gonna show 'em that, yeah?'

"Yeah T-Rex," said the boy. "I know it. You think I don't but I do. They ain't gonna have this block when we done with 'em." With that, the boy walked through the front door, scaling up to third, and uppermost floor of the house, followed, with impressively light footing, by his gang...

No less then twenty minutes later, the gang paraded out of the house, the boy at the front of their march, both triumphant, and a bit confused. He looked at his hands, for a moment. Then, he felt back to the 9mm glock in his back pocket. He hadn't once put his finger to the trigger the whole time he was up in the apartment. Still, he had managed to kill two people. His hands ached and twinged with a slight electric shock. He was close to dwelling on the matter, when one of his gangmates gave him a one armed embrace over his shoulders.

"Damn Ryaan!" the gangmate said. "I can't believe you sometimes. You like, standin' there all cool and what. Next minute we know, you got two mothahs on their backs, down and all. We ain't even got half a chance to put out a round on 'em the way you took care of it all."

"I ain't done nothing, Deron," the boy named Ryaan said. "I don't know what happened, but I ain't nothing back there to kill them mothahs. They just, died."

"Anything you gotta tell yourself Ry," Deron said joyously. "You gonna be the talk of the brothahs tonight mang!"

Kai calmly stepped up each step of the staircase until he reached the ground floor. His cloak covered his hair and eyes, but his nose twitched in the air for a split second. "Lyn." He thought to himself. To an apprentice like him, her presence was astounding. Such an amazing quantity of raw power flood out of her, if he concentrated he could see the waves of her energy flowing out, but he tried not to, just in case she suspected anything. Besides, it doesn't look good for a 19 year old like him to be transfixed on a girl four years younger than him.

He then turned his glare to his "Wizard Jewellery" as his tutor and the other apprentices called it, he didn't like the sound of that, but he couldn't come up with anything better. He called it "His Cross" for two reasons.

    1) As previously stated, he didn't like the name "Wizard Jewellery."
    and
    2) He couldn't reveal to anyone, especially Lyn, that he was a wizard.

He turned into the store and sat down on the closest seat to him, it was an old green couch, rather tatty if he was to be honest, but it was comfortable and that's what mattered the most to him. It was rare that he sat on something comfortable, so it was rather a relief.

He took a quick glance at Lyn, and quickly said,"Yo." out of respect more than anything else.

Baltazar looked at his two apprentices and glanced down the stairs waiting for the third one to come up.

"So how was busness today?" Lyn asked. It was summertime meaning the busist time of the year with tourists. Balthazar glanced over at Vironica.

"It was very good today." Veronica stated. Lyn nodded and looked towards the stairs.

"Isn't James here today?" She asked. James was the apprentices closest in age to her, also her closest friend. Veronica nodded looking towards Balthazar.

"Yes, have you been home yet, Lyn?" Balthazar obviously knowing Becky wanted her at home. He crossed his arms looking at her. Lyn smiled nervously. "You know your mom wanted you home. Plus the boys and I have some busness to take care of still." Lyn rolled her eyes.

"Every time I'm expected home, you and the guys got work to do." Lyn stated. Balthazar shrugged and turned towards the desk fixing a cup of coffee. Lyn rolled her eyes. "Besides, it's a Friday, my mom's not going to be home after 4 because of her radio show." Lyn pointed out.

"I'll go call Becky." Veronica stated stepping out of the back room. "Oh, Balthazar, there's something you have to come look at too." Veronica state with a sort of different tone. Balthazar glanced at the others in the room.

"Stay here." He stated. Lyn nodded and looked towards the two boys.

Balthazar stepped out in the front Becky standing there.

"There was another fire today." Becky crossed her arms. Veronica looked towards Balthazar.

"Balthazar, you recieved that letter, I think you should at least see if Merlyn is one." Veronica told him.

"Maybe, I don't know how I'd go about doing it. Oh Lyn your father was kidnapped by an evil sorcerer and you can save him because you're a sorcereress oh yeah the evil sorcerer is a morganian and you have the power to put an end to all Morganians. I can't do that." Balthazar stated.Veronica and Becky both exchanged a quick glance and looked back at him.

"Please, the fact she has magic powers now, what will it be like with the charm or whatever." Becky stated. "I don't have magic powers, but I can tell this can't be good letting a powerful sorcereress, who has powers without their charm, jewelry, whatever, not knowing how to control it." Becky stated. "Plus if she can save Dave..." Becky stated. Balthazar sighed and nodded.

"So what did you two do today?" Lyn asked bored and noticing the way Kyle was staring at her. She stood up and moved towards the counter and put her bag on it and glanced back at him seeing him still staring at her. She shifted her weight.

James took his time as he walked up the stairs. When he came through the basement doorway he was rubbing his eye with one hand and scratching his head with the other. "Oh. Hey Lyn" James said as he if hadn't known she was coming. He stopped scratching his head rubbing his eye and yawned. "So what you been up to lately Lyn?" James asked her out of curiosity. James then took at seat on the chair in front of him and smirked at Lyn.

Kyle noticed Lyn looking at him and immediately stopped the spell."That was close"Kyle thought to himself. "Well James slept all day while took my time trying to master a.....Karate technique I saw" Kyle said covering up what he truly wanted to stay. Kyle look at James after he had spoken and then went to take a seat next to him. Kyle then began very silent because he had almost exposed his secret of being a sorcerer.

    Balthazar sighed.

"I'll go take a vote with who would be her fellow apprentice." Balthazar stated. "Hey Lyn your mom's here." Balthazar called out getting a head shake from Veronica.

"Nothing much." Lyn shrugged grabbing an apple. "And things will never change with you will it, sleepy head." Lyn teased before hearing her name. She walked out the door to see her mom standing there.

"Oh! Hey mom, sorry about not coming home, I didn't want to waste my subway pass, you know getting to probably hang out with all my friends all summer, I'll need all the sub way passes I can get." Lyn lied. Truth is, besides the three boys who worked in the shop, and even then, she didn't have any friends. Lyn is smart and clumsy, a trait she shares with her father. All the guys made fun of her because of it. She's also a tomboy and so all the girls don't hang out with her because of that. Then the few kids who did accept her, she just never felt a strong friendly bond with them or they never wanted to do anything.

Her mother rolled her eyes while Veronica glanced back at Balthazar which told Lyn one thing.

"You're a terrible liar, Merlyn, just like-" Balthazar started before Ln cut him off.

"Just like my dad, yeah I know." Lyn stated crossing her arms.

"Anyways, Lyn. I was going to call off work today to celebrate an early birthday for you because I'll be away on your birthday." Lyn's mom, Becky, told her. Lyn crossed her arms. Every year her radio station sent her on this huge trip to meet with other radio star hosts. "The radio station though said I can't miss today that all my days off were used up already." Becky explained. During the week her mother was depressed about her father and when Lyn had a terrible week of being blamed for a fire in the girl's bathroom, for making the water fountain "leak", and several other reasons.

"That's fine, I guess I'll be here with Balthazar and Veronica, right?" She asked. She loved the shop, she won't lie. Each item even if the story Balthazar told her about them were false, they were still unique to imagine the stories.

Veronica nodded and said goodbye to Becky before she left to go to work.

Balthazar walked into the back room and locked the door behind him. He sighed and waved his hand in the air signaling for the three boys to follow him downstairs.

He slowly went downstairs and turned underneither the stairs being held up by a brick wall. He waved his hand infront of the brick wall as a small opening appeared. Slowly he reached in and pulled out a small box.

"All three of you know why I brought you in and made you my apprentices. For one, none of you seemed to do ok on your own, and two because of Horvath kidnapping my other apprentice, powerful sorcerer, and the prime merlinian. Well unaware by all three of you, I had a surprise visit in my dreams one night and awoken with a letter and a box explaining everything discussed in the dream from Merlin himself. In this box is a dragon awaiting to choose it's own master. Much like your own charm to awaken your powers, this one is similar to that of the prime merlinian and works like the prime merlinian's. This one will finally put an end to all Morganians, our prime enemy." Balthazar explained. "Merlin also told who its master is, this is why I'm telling all of you is would you like a new apprentice brought in?" Balthazar asked.

"And yes, you all already know her-" Balthazar stated hoping to not reveal who it was but regretted saying her knowing they'd all know who now.

Kyle smiled and nodded. He then looked at his dragon bracelet and his smile quickly changed to a frown. Kyle began to think about his parents and started to get teary-eyed. He then wipped his eyes and covered up his bracelet with his sleeve. He then looked at the other hoping they hadn't seen his moment.

Kyle stared at the ground trying to hold in the tears.

James looked at Kyle while he began getting teary-eyed then turned his head. "Yeah I think it's ok if she's ready to take on the responsibility of being a sorcerer. James looked at Kyle again then at Balthazar. "So since that's two out of three I'm guessing you have a new apprentice." James said with a smirk on his face.
