    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

    (Sludge Bomb, not Energy Ball)

The Sludge Bomb blocked most of the fire as Venusaur tried to back off. Either way it left with a burn on its left fore-leg. Damn, Venusaur got burned. Meaning I seriously can't wait any longer. I either win now or lose in a minute. "Sleep Powder and Sludge Bomb!" Jace shouted. Venusaur covered the field in green powder before launching a purple ball of slime.

    >I know. I said Energy Ball in case you were going to use it to get rid of the Flamethrower<

The powder coated Garchomp while the Sludge Bomb hit him directly. "Come on... Get poisoned." Alex muttered. Garchomp yawned. "Damn. Garchomp, Flamethrower before you fall asleep." Garchomp shot out another collumn of flame all around Venusaur. Once the flames stopped flowing, Garchomp fell down, asleep. "Pity Sorin doesn't allow us to use items either. But then again, that's what makes this a real battle." Alex sat down and crossed his legs. "If you don't finish off Garchomp while he's asleep, your loss is absolute."

The Flamethrower shoved Venusaur back and it barely stayed standing. He's right, but with Venusaur hurt like this... would we even stand a chance against Yanmega? Wait, against a sleeping foe... Yeah. "Venusaur return!" The grass pokemon was surprised as it was called back and Jace sent out Gallade. The fighting pokemon was clutching it's side as it came out. "Gallade, it's asleep so thi should be easy for you. Close Combat!" Jace yelled out as Gallade charged in and began slashing with it's blade arms.

Alex watched as Garchomp was continually hit. "Aren't you wishing Garchomp was Rock instead of Ground right now? If Garchomp was Rock, he'd be done for this fight. But he's still kicking." Alex remained sitting.

"That seems rather merciless. Just sitting there watching your Pokemon get hurt. He couldn't possibly know when Garchomp will wake up."

Sora couldn't believe it neither as Alex sat back.

"Honestly though, he seems to not care much about any of his pokemon. Not a good job when he returned them or anything!" Sora stated now thinking about how Alex was treating his pokemon. This made her angry, she could never treat any of her pokemon like that, through everything she's been through with them. Plus to get to being a master, after everything he's been through, surely enough he has feeling for his pokemon. She looked at Espeon. That would be a form of cheating if I tried to get Espeon to read Alex's mind, plus it's dangerous to do that on a human, plus that would require forgetting one of her current moves to use the tm mind reader. Anyways, Alex couldn't possibly be just sitting back and watching... could he? Is he planning something or does he not care? Sora thought to herself.

"Come on Jace, stay focus!" Sora stood up and yelled to the boy on the battle field.

Jace glanced over to Sora and Tom and smiled. "Not a problem!" he then turned his attention back to Gallade as it stopped hitting the Garchomp. Its covered in bruises now but is still sleeping peacefully. Definately have a chance now. I just wish Gallade had a super-effective attack. "Close Combat again!" Jace shouted. I can only hope that Garchomp goes straight from snoozing to knocked out, it's practically the only chance I have.

"That's enough sleeping Garchomp." Alex spoke as he stood up. "Use an Earthquake on the Gallade." Garchomp woke up and roared. Garchomp stomped on the ground, sending out another shockwave straight at Gallade. "You're alright, right?" The Garchomp nodded. "Need a breather?" Garchomp shook his head. "If you insist. You sure you want to stay until you faint?"

    "Not caring? Or complete trust?"

Too fast! Jace thought as the Garchomp woke up and knocked out Galade with an Earthquake. "Return. Go Venusaur." The red light of Gallade's return hadn't even vanished before Venusaur was out on the field. So I'm back to just Venusaur, and with him burned he won't last long. Gallade took a pounding but can still likely take some more. And then Yanmega. Well, I'm probably going to lose. So let's at least get rid of the last surprise this Garchomp holds. "Energy Ball!"

Alex sighed. "And here I was hoping to leave Garchomp's last move unknown. But might as well finish off Venusaur now. He's still got that Electivire though. But that'll be easy enough. Garchomp, use Earth Power." Garchomp roared. Right before the Energy Ball hit, the ground from underneath Venusaur exploded. The Energy Ball then hit Garchomp, causing him to faint. "That's alright. You fought well." Alex held out Garchomp's pokeball, returning the Pokemon. "Yanmega will finish the job." Alex brought out the Pokemon again.

"Venusaur!" Jace shouted as the attack hit. When Yanmega came out, Jace gave it one look before looking at his starter. The grass type was still up but Jace knew that wouldn't last. One attack to launch, if he waslucky and manage to fire it off before the Yanmega outsped everything. Jace knew his choice was obvious. "Return Venusaur. I give."

"Not a bad fight." Alex spoke as he returned Yanmega. "Remember. Here on this island, there is no shame in surrendering. I'm hoping that the most important thing I have taught you in this fight is understanding your limits. I'm actually the weakest Master here, and probably the most merciful. If, by some chance, you can get to some of the stronger Masters, you need to know when enough is enough. Like that old man warned you before: You may lose more than just a Pokemon battle here. I will let your Pokemon live, but other Masters may not feel the same way. Remember this when you battle me again." Alex turned to Tom. "And we'll be battling tomorrow." Alex then walked off the arena, towards the cliffside. He opened up the door there and entered, locking the door behind him.

Sora couldn't believe it. She smiled and headed down towards the field followed by Espeon.

"Your pokemon alright?" She asked him. She watched Alex walk off. He sure is a mysterious fighter. She looked back at Jace. "Lets get out of her and back to the pokemon center and heal up. There's a battle coming up tomorrow for both Tom and I and a possible rematch for you. We better get well rested." Sora said picking up Espeon.

Jace had a somber look on his face as Alex spoke. But when Sora came up he quickly hid it behind a smile. "Yeah, besides; that fight was awesome. Even if I lost, it was still fun." Jace said. He looked back to where Alex had left beforewalking to the center to get his pokemon healed up.

Sorin watched them leave with a sigh. "Weak, and here I was hoping I might get a challange. Sinnoh is out, let's see how the Indigo and Hoenn champions fair tomorrow. I'm sure you found that match interesting, Erasi." Sorin said as he spun his chair around to face the top Master who was behind him. Erasi had watched with him because Sorin had invited him. The two were alike in the scarcity of challenges, mostly because the other three were too powerful for their own good. Sorin took a glance back at the screens of the island before asking a question. "So, which do you think will actually make it the farthest? Judging just from the Sinnoh champions strength of course."

Erasi studied the head of his Charizard cane while rubbing his hand over it lightly.

"That was... An interesting match, to say the least. Judging from his power... I am honestly not sure what to say. I have an eerie feeling Alex is in for a surprise the next time those two fight."

Erasi glanced over and noticed the look on Sorin's face of slight confusion.

"Well, perhaps it is just my age and experience to have this sort of insight but, that boy will go far. That battle was a good one... But both he AND his pokemon were holding back... I could feel it."

Erasi grinned a moment as if in anticipation of such a challenger.

"As for the other two Champions, the only things I can say of them is if the girl gets past the first three masters, that Espeon could spell trouble for both of us. It is unbelievably strong. As far as the other young man goes, Tom I believe, I have no precise readings on him yet... Except for one thing..."

A sly smile drew itself across both his and his Charizard's face. "Tyrannus and I could smell his fear from here."

"The only thing that looked like holding back to me was returning pokemon before they were beten to keep them safe." Sorin replied. "And as for fear, I recall you said that about me when I first came here. Whether true or false, you know as well as I; fear is not weakness. It's strength." Sorin looke back at his screens and began to speak again. "Espeon, I can see the threat to your team but why do you say mine? Only one has a type disadvantage to Psychic, though that doesn't exclude it's moves. Besides, I've defeated Espeon's before. What makes you say that would harm my team?"

"Your pokemon need rest. They'll be a hundred percent tomorrow, I promise."
"Thanks Nurse Joy." Jace said as he walked away to his room. Once inside he closed the door and laid down on the bed. I lost, how long has it been since I lost? A few months? Yeah, a trainer in Veilstone challanged and beat my team. That was a while ago, I sill only had four pokemon on my team. But that loss was nothing compared to this. Wow, Alex is tough. I've gotta think up a plan. I don't want to strike out on the weakest. That would be embarassing. I'm representing Sinnoh here, I can't be the first knocked out of the challange. Well, I've got two battles to watch and come up with a plan. And then I can watch the next master battle those two so I guess at the very least nothing will really shock me. But still, Alex coms first. How am I going to stop him before his speed gets me?

"Come now Sorin, there was no insult meant... I do not doubt the boy has power, in fact I hope he does progress... You and I have been starved of battles for long enough. Fear is indeed a strength, but only if used wisely. Fear when misused in the slightest can make or break the world for someone."

    Erasi sighed as he grinned.

"Alas, that Espeon holds no advantages over my team whatsoever typewise... But you and I both know that type advantage is not the only thing that wins battles. Strategy and raw power are also important keys to victory, and I can feel more power in that Espeon than I have felt in a long time. The connection between that pokemon and its master is nearly flawless. It is even comprable to my attatchment to Tyrannus here."

The massive Charizard grumbled at Erasi.

"You know its true, Tyrannus, stop bellyaching."

Tyrannus let out a low growl and rolled over onto its other side and continued to snooze.

Erasi turned his attention back to Sorin. "What I am saying is, not only is that pokemon incredibly strong compared to others, but it shares an incredibly powerful connection with its trainer. Mark my words, type advantage or not, that Espeon could spell trouble for whomever gets in its path. Their is fighting with strength, fighting with skill, and fighting with flare. Many trainers possess one or two of those, but few ever gain the technique of fighting with heart... And that is where true power comes into play. That girl and that Espeon share that technique."

"Many trainers do, it's especially common among trainers with pokemon like Espeon; where their evolution is dependant on a strong bond. Still, I get your point. Well, since nothing else will be happening today, I'm going to go sleep. See you tomorrow Erasi." Sorin said as he shut down the moniters. He got up and headed out of the room. A few minutes later and he was at his bedroom, inside was a large bed as well as six pokemon. All of them looked when Sorin came in and the grandmaster gave a slight smile. "If we're lucky, you'll soon have a challenge."

Sora entered her room and closed the door. She sighed and grabbed her pokeballs.

"Come on out guys." Sora called as the pokeballs flew into the air. She smiled at all of them as they smiled back. "Sorry I didn't let you guys out sooner. A busy day. Here's a late night snack to make up for all of it." She told them getting out six dishes of pokemon food.

Sora sat down at the desk and pulled out a notebook and wrote down the events of the day. She finished and turned to her pokemon. Some were already asleep. Charizard had managed to get out on the balcony. Quilava was asleep in the corner by luxray. Sceptile stood by the doorway leading out to the balcony. Piplup managed to fall asleep on the small lounge chair in the room. Espeon stayed awake.

Sora walked over to the bed and pet espeon before crawlingin bed and espeon settled down next to her in bed.

"Good night guys..." sora managed to mumble before falling asleep.

Draco and Lucario watched the champions return back to the center from in the distance. He turned and looked at Lucario.

"we should probably get some rest ourselves. We have some training to do in the morning." Draco spoke to Lucario who nodded and appeared to frown.

Erasi stretched as he and Tyrannus made there way down the stone steps deep into the heart of the island beneath the mountain. The temperature began to rise as the continued to descend, until finally they came upon Erasi's secret room; deep under the mountain. As his footsteps echoed throughout the burning cavern, he came upon a large iron door. Erasi walked up to the door and entered a few digits on the keypad. The door creaked open to reveal a volcanic cavern coated in magma and molten rock, along with sporting a pokemon battling gym stage.

Erasi grinned as he waled in. He whistled only once. After that, sounds were able to be heard in the cavern and deep in the magma itself. A screech was heard as a flying pokemon soared from the depths of the cave and landed itself in front of Erasi. The old man chuckled as he patted its head. A few other pokemon also made their way onto the battlefield, including some pokemon who appeared to emerge from the lava itself. A loud roar was heard as a dragonic pokemon soared down from the stalagmite area of the cavern and landed with its full weight on the gym floor near the other four pokemon.

"Alright boys..." Erasi chuckled as he spoke, "It's time to train.... We have a challenge coming in a few days..."

Tom was sitting at a desk, the room somewhat dark. He had a pencil and paper in front of him, doing random scribbles. "Can't match that speed. Who to start with? Here's his Pokemon. And here's mine. Which one has the greatest chance against any single Pokemon?"

Alex went into his room, his Pokemon fully healed. "Should I let loose tomorrow? Or wait for Jace's next match before not holding back? Hard to tell."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All three trainers returned to Alex's area. The arena was completely repaired, as if there wasn't a battle yesterday. Alex was already there, waiting for them. "If there's a bright side, you didn't turn tail and run."

"Of course not. There are several things I won't give up on. Challenging you and the other Masters is one of those things. You ready to begin?"

"Of course. Send out your Pokemon."

"Way ahead of you." Tom spoke as he tossed a pokeball. "Let's go, Porygon-Z." The digital Pokemon appeared from the pokeball.

"I guess I'm gonna have to be predictable at first. Let's go, Alakazam." Alex sent out his Pokemon. Their battle began.
