Does anyone else think that Dissidia is becoming the spiritual succesor to Smash Bros? now hear me out: several characters crossing over to meet eachother, ALL of their games with a common forefather, battling a great foe with some allies that were (or are) their enemies? I understand if no one shares my thoughts, but can u at least see where I'm coming from?

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

    well yes and no.

in Smash Bros, every game involved was made by nintendo(save for Snake and Sonic in Brawl but even then they had an extensive history with nintendo to begin with. Metal Gear got its start on a nintendo system and Sonic was not only Mario's primary competitor in platforming but most Sonic games nowadays are on nintendo systems first and formost.) anyways, every game involved was nintendo based. but then a story didn't appear until the third 1 and the gameplay is very unique in that ring outs are the focus and HP is the secondary concern.(it doesn't even have true HP unless you go to stamina mode but those are to short to matter)

in Dissidia, its similar that every game involved was made by Square but they take it further in that every game is from Final Fantasy, essentially the same series of games. also, its not entirely random like Smash Bros just being Nintendo's All Stars but rather each specific game had select chosen characters. sure some were fan favs and all stars(like Cloud and Sephiroth) but mot were not the first characters to come to mind from their respective games. also unlike Smash Bros whose story is pretty much crap just thrown in to have a story, Dissidia's story is well thought out and has a lot of depth.

so yeah, they're similar in idea and Dissidia was probably concieved to be a FF version of Smash but they're both vastly different and other than the obvious cross-over fighting, it's hard to find a lot to compare the two.

    You're a little wrong there.

Every game in SSB was PRODUCED (Distributed?) by nintendo at some point. Not made. Two different things.

again, what I meant was I felt like Dissidia is becoming the 'spiritual successor,' meaning not entirely the same thing, but yeah, ur points against my thought are sound
