    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

    Plot
There is a special league, unknown to the rest of the world. Only champions know of it, and only they can decide if someone is worthy of the challenge. This secret league is only for the strongest. Those that accept the invitation are usually never seen again. The ones who don't usually regret it for the rest of their lives; you are only invited once. Many rumors surround this league; it's evil, they steal your pokemon, there is no league. But there is a league, a place where the strongest unite to beat down the challengers sent to them.

    Guess what? You've been invited...

    Story
Three trainers have just proved their worth to the champions of their respective regions and were given the chance to head to a place known only as the Masters Lair. Each of the three is the strongest of their region and are excited about the new battles that await them. However the Masters Lair is not for the weak. Can these three survive the challenge?

    Characters
    Kanto/Johto Trainer - Sora Nameu - Destiny
Hoenn Trainer - Tom Senju - Desert Warrior
Sinnoh Trainer - Jace Bento - GrandShadow

Headmaster - Sorin Revane - GrandShadow
Master 1 - Erasi Infernus - The Storm
    Master 2 - Draco Lietojas - Destiny
    Master 3 - Jack Tatara - dualblade
Master 4 - Alex Taylor - Desert Warrior

The sun was shining as the silver boat cut through the waves. Only a few people were on it, in fact only three of them were passangers. A boy with black and green clothes walked over to the front of the boat and smiled. His brown hair flew back from the wind and he looked down to see a few water pokemon racing the boat. His hand went down to a pokeball before he shook his head and backed off. "Another time Jace. Another time." He said to himself. As he turned back to the boat he looked at the other two passengers; a girl close to is age and a guy that looked to be close to his twenties. Jace stayed smiling as he put his hands behind his head.

He was recently named Sinnoh Champion but once he was told of the Masters he quit his position as Champion so that he could run off to face these supposedly invincable trainers. The other two had similar stories, he knew that much since only Champions and a few select others even knew the place wasn't a rumor. As Jace waited to arrive he figured he'd get to know the other two that were going to be challenging the Lair as well. He walked up between the two and loudly said, "Hi, my name's Jace. So who're you two?"

A young girl sat on a bench against the control room. She faced the front of the boat brushing her hand against her pokemon who laid in her lap enjoying the sea breeze. She closed her eyes wanting to bring all her pokemon out for some free time but decided against it since she did it when it was just her and her good friend Kami, a young boat captain who owned a yaht. Kami was incharged of taking the young girl between two regions she was champion of.

The girl heard a fellow boy, Jace introduce himself. She opened her eyes and smiled.

"I'm Sora, I'm from Johto and Kanto." She told him.

"Tom." He answered. He chuckled to himself. "I see that Pokemon talent today is getting younger and younger. But then again, I would've been on this boat a few years ago. Except I would... How should I say it? I would do some extra traveling. Actually, I might've left Hoenn and never became Champion. Oh, but listen to me rattle on. What about yourselves? The Champions of the Indigo Plateau and Sinnoh. What are the Elite Four like there? I hear they're tough. Wasn't Red once the Champion in Kanto? And Cynthia the Champion of Sinnoh. I heard they were once the strongest trainers in all the land."

"Cynthia? Man her Garchomp sure gave me a tough time. Knocked out two of my team with a single attack each. But I managed to beat her. And the Elite Four wasn't much, I think the hardest was either the fire user or the ground user." Jace explained. Jace looked back at the front of the ship, he still couldn't see where they were going to. He sighed but then turned back to the other two and jabbed his thumb behind him. "So what have you guys heard about these 'Masters'? I heard there invincable, sounds fun don't it?"

"For both Kanto and Johto for the Indigo Plateu to beat it, it was very difficult, but I didn't have much difficulty, people say I get that from my father who was champion way back when of Johto and Kanto himself before he disppeared, I never met him. I got to face off against Red though. He was a challenge but Espeon pulled through for me, now he and I are good friends, in fact he's covering for me so I could come to this challenge." Sora explained to him.

Tom looked to the side, seeing land appearing in the distance. "I suppose we're almost there. Best of luck to the both of you. By the way, do either of you know how the battles will work out? Will we draw straws or something and then wait for each person to finish? Or are we able to watch each battle. Then again, that would leave the first person at a disadvantage."

    On the island....

Alex sat down at the docks, looking out at the ocean. He had a walkie talkie in his hand. He spoke into it. "Looks like our challengers are almost here. Are you guys gonna come down or am I the only one to welcome them?"

An old man quietly limped forward, one step at a time. His cane bending from the amount of weight and stress he was causing it with each step. His feet shuffled lazily along, dragging against the ground every few moments that he took a step. His breathe was a heavy wheezing, and his breathe turned to blue mist in the icy cold air of the island. This was Erasi, the final Master before the Grandmaster of the Lair. However, having been kept secret from civilization and having never been reached, noone knew who he was without proper introduction. To the three young trainers getting off the boat, he may as well be a lowly servant hermit of the Masters. And that was exactly the role he intended to play.

He hobbled up, clicking the ground every other step with his walking stick, and approached a young boy with a walkie talkie in his hand.

"Ahh... Young man.... You must, be..." He wheezed heavily, "One of those fine trainers... Come to challenge... The Master's Lair..."

    Erasi smiled.

"I wish you... The best... Of luck... Gather your friends please... I am supposed to lead you to the Lair..."

Erasi coughed heavily. The icy midnight air was giving his ancient body a beating.

"Har har Erasi." Alex scoffed. "I may be the newest master here, but you know who I am." He pointed to the boat that was getting closer. "The trainers who're here to challenge us are over there. They haven't quite arrived yet. And will you please take your medicine? That cough of yours creeps me out."

    Back on the boat....

Tom looked out to the island. They were just about to land. He could see two people talking on the docks. One of them was extremely old, and the other was much younger. "How nice. Looks like they've got a little greeting party to meet us."

"Alex, just send them my best wishes, I'm training right now, not like they will meet me anyways." A man in his late 30's talked into a walkie as he stood high up on a cliff. The spot where he stood was bare and waves were crashing up high. He turned and saw his pokemon beating up rocks and defeating them. The man turned to a cloak figure and smiled.

"Please go check our new champions, tell me how well they will survive and their battle tactics." The man stated to the cloack figure. The cloack figure nodded and took off in a sprint before the man turned back and looked out into the sea seeing the boat with the young new champions on it.

Sora looked at Tom. She shook her head and shrug.

"I don't know, I'm used to the challenge though, so I'm willing to go first if it's needed." Sora told him. She closed her eyes and could feel the atmosphere change as they approached the island, the waves confirmed it as well, the closer they got to the island, the rougher the waves were.

Sora felt espeon jump off her lap. She headed to the front of the boat and looked towards the docks and saw two people. A young one and an old man. 'Could they be masters?' She thought to herself. She kind of had a feeling about them both, some sort of strength in them. Sora looked at her espeon looking somewhere else up on the cliff. She followed her eyes in the path of Espeon's and saw a man standing there and looking down at them. She had a strong feeling about him too. She saw the man turn around, his coat/cape swung behind him in the wind as he walked out of view. Sora stood there surprised as they approached the dock. She could see the two figures in a much better view now.

"This is it..." She stated, she clamped both of her hands into fists down at her side.

"Greet them on your own. They'll never reach me anyways." Sorin was watching video clips from the last battle he actually had out of boredom. It was dated as a year ago. As Sorin watched he felt a major longing to fight again. While he wanted the other masters to lose, he didn't want them to just give up. If a battle was too short then it wasn't worth having. Sadly this meant few ever reached him. Sorin decided though he wanted to see who was arriving and turned off his video before turning on the cameras that were all over the island. After a couple changes he found the one watching the docks. Alex and Erasi were already there. Sorin sighed and hoped one of the newcomers would reach him.

As soon as the boat landed Jace grabbed a bag that he left in his cabin and ran back out. He didn't want to miss anything. Just from the docks it was easy to see that there was a large forest and mountain in the background. Jace looked at the two waiting and was smiling, wondering if they were just servents or if they were masters. As the boat was anchored and the passangers were dissmissed Jace ran off and stopped at the two people waiting. "Hiya, names Jace. Champion of Sinnoh. Who're you and when do I get to battle?"

Slowly Sora made her way to the deck Espeon right by her as she stepped out onto the deck. She looked at the two people standing there. She didn't say anything, but still many people knew about her, just not her new battle teachnique she trained so hard back in Johto.

"Sora, I'm champion of the Johto and Kanto, the champion of Indigo Plateu." Sora stated keeping her composure and making herself appear serious. Espeon sat looking up at the two people.

"I'll be down there in a minute, not like there is anything else to do here."Jack said into his walkie before clipping it onto his pants. He was out for a walk with his Absol trying to stave off his boredom. He almost never got to fight the new trainers and those he did were almost always weak kids."Really, you have to wonder how these brats beat the Champions sometimes."He said out loud, his Absol shaking its head in response.

"Well girl, lets go head over.Maybe we'll have some real challengers this time."Jack said before breaking into a jog,Absol easily keeping up with him as they approached the dock."Looks like they already arrived."

"Sure thing." Alex spoke into the walkie talkie. "And you are obviously the Champion of Hoenn." He pointed to Tom. Tom nodded. Alex cleared his throat. "Okay. Welcome to the Master's Lair. My name is Alex and this gentleman here is named Erasi. He is a servant to the Masters." Alex turned his head to look at the main portion of the island. He could see Jack coming down to the group. "And back there, that's Jack. We are here to guide you to the Master's Lair. You may already be aware of what goes on in the Master's Lair, but I am to also give you a formal explanation. The Master's Lair is similar to your Elite Four. There are four Masters for you each to battle. All four have different strategies and are the best trainers in the world. In each battle you shall be tested in your skill, your determination, and your patience. If you fail these tests, you shall not win your battles. If, by some luck, you manage to defeat all four Masters... Well that will be explained if you first defeat the four Masters. Follow us to the Master's Lair."

Erasi grinned. His cheesy rotting yellow teeth nearly blinded the newcoming trainers. He cleared his throat with a harsh cough to interrupt Alex's speech.

"Ahem..." Erasi belched punctually, " I feel that I should release to all of you the dangers of the Masters Lari... There is more at stake here than a mere pokemon battle... You shall find that some of the Masters you face here are not as... Forgiving... As others.... Beware trainers, as you have taken your first steps onto this island, you have also taken your first steps off the map... With some of your competitors here, you may lose more than just a pokemon battle... You may lose your life as well..."

Erasi's grimace perked up into a smile as he rattled his stick on the ground a few times and chimed, "Follow us up to the Lair now please, the Masters have been expecting you..."

Erasi turned and began trudging up the steps towards the Lair.

"Wow. You guys must not mess around here. Can't wait!" Jace said as he followed the two of them. They walked through a forest path until they came upon a large building. They went on and Jace noticed a Nurse Joy off to one side tending to a few pokemon.

"That's the center for you guys and off over there are the rooms at which you'll be staying." Jace turned around to see another guy walk in behind them. "Each of you may make one challenge a day, and only to the master rank you're at. You eah start at four and go up with each victory."
    "Who're you?"
"My name is Sorin. Here, each of you get one of these." Sorin tossed each of them a small wallet. Jace opened his up to see only four empty slots. "Each master gives you a seal of victory which you put here when you win. The final master explains what you do with the completed book if you beat him."
"So when can we make our first challenge and where do we go?" Jace asked. It was obvious he cared little for patience. Sorin sighed.
"Tomorrow. And ask Nurse Joy, she'll give you a map. Each master has there own area in which to battle, and a couple have different rules than a normal battle. In your free time, you can explore the island and do as you wish but you are to leave the masters alone. Decide among yourselves on an order too; each master only gets one challenge a day." Sorin walked up by Erasi and Alex and whispered that he got bored. He was about to walk off but Jace had one more question.
"How many chances do we get?"
    "Two per master."

Erasi chuckled a harsh laugh and raspily retorted, "That is... If you are lucky enough to make it through the first try alive... Heheheh..." Erasi turned and walked off with his collegues.

"And so it begins..." He whispered greedily.

"Don't count me out." Alex said to Erasi. He spoke so the other trainers wouldn't hear him. "You're the last for them to fight. They've gotta get through me before anybody else. I'll push them to their limits. If they survive that, they you can have hope that they will reach you."

"Okay. I'm gonna go put my stuff in my room. After that, we can decide who battles who." Tom spoke. Before he moved to the room, he turned to Sorin. "Hey. Umm... Do we get to watch each other's battles? Or do we have to wait someplace else?"

Jack just yawned after Erasi forebidding prediction."Boring!Really old man,can you do anything without it involving some sort of terrifying end?"He said with his right hand over his mouth to stifle another yawn.Absol just shook her head at both of them and lightly headbutted her trainer."Alright, alright,I get it.Respect my elders and all that."He said before patting the Absol's head. She just glared at him before looking at the three new trainers, including the only other pokemon among them.

Erasi gave a glance to Alex, "Of course they will be lucky if they ge through you. You may be the newest of us, but you are damned good, and I mean that. But if they are able to surpass you, then they may actually have some potential... Which Jack or myself will quite quickly crush the life out of, I assure you that..."

At the same time, Erasi chuckled at Jack's comment, and smiled at the Absol near them.

As he studied its features, Erasi turned to Jack with a wisened look in his eyes, "No Jack... You do not understand... They must realize that all good things die over time... Nothing is immoral, and nothing lasts forever... Everything comes to an end eventually... Even stars burn out..."

"No. Otherwise you get an advantage. No master can watch the other masters, just as no challanger can watch other challengers." Sorin said before walking off. Jace waited to see if they were going to say anything else but when they didn't he rushed off and grabbed a room. The first thing he noticed was how simple it was. It was a bed and table in a pure white room with a video phone and a transporter device for pokemon. I guess that's incase we want to make a switch. Well I won't use it, thats for sure. As Jace ser his stuff down on the table he headed back. He went to the Nurse Joy and asked for a map, she just smiled and handed him a small booklet of about five pages.
The first page mostly welcomed them to the Lair. The second page went on about the rules that Sorin and the others said. It also mentioned a rule they didn't: Items are forbiddon in the battles. The third said that there were powerful wild pokemon on the island but no shops so if you didn't bring spare pokeballs then you couldn't catch anything. The fourth and fifth pages were a large in-detail map of the island. Jace studied it carefully.

The building they were in was at the exact center of the island. Behind it was a large mountain, about two hundred yards south of it was the docks the arrived at. Jace looked over everything and also noticed that there were free battlegrounds about fifty yards to the west of the building. Jace grinned just thinking about the possibilites.

(OOC: each character with a Master gets to choose where their personal arena is as well as the arena style and if they want it to be double or single battle rules. since DW has Master 4, he chooses first.)
