I haven't successfully produce something from photoshop that could be considered as signage, but when I was used to it I was really good. Anyway, enough of the nostalgia, I can provide you with the necessary material and hopefully you can figure it out on your own.

I can't be much help than that I'm afraid.

Sorry for throwing all this on you, but I'm sure with all this, you should be heading into the right direction of the graphic art world. If you need more stuff, just google the necessary things.

Pro Tip : Get the real photoshop. A 30 day trial isn't going to get you anywhere.

^ That. By the time you start feeling comfortable with the program, your time will be up.

deviantART is a good place to look for tutorials.

Probably the best advice I can give is to just keep practicing at it. Your first attempts will be sucky, but if you keep experimenting, you'll improve. And try to find stocks of higher quality. If you start with an image that's in poor shape, you'll have a harder time making something that looks good.

I think I just used the default photoshop brushes (and maybe a c4d render or two) to make that. It really wasn't difficult at all.

Nah, a month? I don't think it'll take that long for you to get the hang of it.

I was reading the "An Intro to Signature Making " and it said i can also use a program called Gimp as well to make sigs. So i looked around and found that i had that program already on my computer. So could i use that instead of getting photoshop?

Yeah, GIMP is a free alternative to Photoshop. Though the difference between GIMP and Photoshop are enormous.
