I also recall a story about whether or not his hair was turning gray.

I like the way you said this here, and I agree. But even so, I still think it is important that we have the right to be able to protest in this way if we wish.

If he truly believed in what America stands for, he'd never have started this in the first place, because he would have recognized other people's rights to practice whatever religion they want. But he probably only believes in all that when it is convenient for him.

I am glad he decided not to go through with this, at least for now, even though his decision did destroy the tiny bit of respect I had for him for sticking with his beliefs, even in the face of extreme unpopularity.

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

eh... i'm still a little angry with him.
normally i wouldn't agree with book burning cause like Requim said, we're just killing ideas. but to publically say he was going to do it despite the backlash, well now i want him to do it just to prove he can do it without any harm coming to him. but then he backed down, gave into the fear and everything.

if he wasn't going to do it then he never should have said he would.

I say he should have just done it if he was going to. I mean nobody says you cant burn a holy book. So ppl shouldnt be so mad. I mean freedom of religion says you can believe in whatever, so dont get mad when someone dont believe in yours.

Well, there's an incredible rudeness in burning someone else's religious book, and it's no wonder people got offended. If you don't believe in that religion, fine. No one is making you. But if you're going to be so disrespectful about it, you deserve to have people pissed of at you. Yes, we have the freedom to act this way if we please, and I'm glad we do. But it kills me that this guy went through the motions, got the media attention, already angered so many people, and then wussed out on it like a coward. At least have the strength to stand up for what you believe in.

Hardly. Like anyone wanting to bomb this country can't find another reason to do it. This man backing down did nothing but prove that he doesn't stand by his convictions.

Well, I live in New York City, and the whole protest on Ground Zero and the Mosque is pissing me off. I can't get to class on time because I get stop and get ask for an interview and people are in my way dammit when I am in a rush. My opinion is, do what ever you want. People need to learn and let go of the past. Come on now, 9/11 happen like years ago, it is time to move forward. Forgive and Forget. Like seriously? If Freedom of Religion is sooo fucking important, then what is the big deal of building a Mosque, and it is not even near Ground Zero. It is like 6 blocks away. Like, "OMG, they are going to bomb us." Um, no. It is a religious complex just like a church, temple, and other place of worship.

And burning the Bible or Quran or even the flag. It is your right. Your first amendment. Other countries can do it too. And plus it is just a book with words. Time to go burn Twilight.

Really don't care as to what happens now. Everything has calmed down now and no one is talking about it anymore so I am hoping that everyone did moved on. . =D YAAY! Let us go and burn the Twilight Sagas. Boo to the vampires and perverted wolves.

Lol. I agree on the twilight part.

While yes it was his right to burn those books, and he didn't because you all think he was afraid, well consider this.

Pastors can be removed from their churches by a no confidence vote by the people of that church. They may have told him "Don't do it or your out on your butt."

Anyways I don't like the fact people burn our flag, but burning the quaran is just sinking as low as they are. Can't we stand for our freedom of religion and show respect to the muslims who don't practice their faith in a radical way? Perhaps you guys haven't considered the fact that it's not just the terrorists who are getting stepped on, but the majority of muslims who are N-O-T radicals.

THANK YOU THANK YOU! You have backed me up. That was one of the main reasons as to why burning the quran shouldn't be burnt. Thank God for mercy and Grace.

oO Its a moot point now though. Also I just found out that he apparently got a car for backing off. I guess greed was the prime motivator here.

XD. Though to be fair, the Twilight Saga is an endless source of amusement, though most of it is unintentional.

I think there are plenty of people who are either uneducated, or just don't care, and lump all muslims into that radical, suicide bomber category. And I think for some of them, you could wave evidence to the contrary in their faces all day long, and they'd still believe the worst about all muslims.

I haven't been keeping updated on this Ground Zero/mosque business, but I have to say that I can't see what the big deal is. But then again, with all due respect to the people who died or lost loved ones on Sept. 11, I've been tired of hearing about it for years now. Time to start moving on.

I don't have a whole lot more to say on the subject, since I don't believe that Pastor Whatshisname has come forward to say the burning is back on or anything. I still think he was a coward for not sticking with his original intentions, no matter his reason for backing down, but I suppose it was for the best.

Tch. I suppose I can't say that I'm surprised that greed won out, and surprisingly, I respect him a wee bit more if he just sold out, rather than wussed out.
