[Demo] Kingdom Hearts : Another Footstep

I was thinking about doing a Kingdom Hearts fangame. Now before I even start developing, please know a few notes. Some of the notes are incase Square Enix and Disney see this project

-Square Enix have a tendancy to shut down fangames. If I'm told to shut it down, it will be shut down. I also respect if Disney wish it shut down.
-Like with my Chrono Engine and Zelda fangame, I develop fangames to show my absolute love for the games. And in this case, for Disney films (I have 41 of the 48 Disney Classics!)
-Never will be commercial as it's a fangame. One of my policies on game making
-This ain't no Kingdom Hearts 3,4,whatever. In this fangame Im moving away from Sora, Donald,Goofy and the rest. Mainly because we know that there's a KH3. Hence I also won't be using Disney Classics with sequels (Lion King, Aladdin, etc)
-It's going to be a short game. A couple of Disney worlds. No more than 4 and no less than 3
-All KH characters and concepts belong Square Enix and all Disney Characters belong to Disney. @ Square Enix + Disney - We love KH!!! Keep making it forever! And also, like I've said, we'll respect you if you want this project shut down. Just send me a message if you want it shut down. Email's at the bottom.

Now onto my idea for the story

Few notes on the story​

The game will take place during the events of KH1. As I said, the game moves away from Sora and the gang. The game will revolve around another boy Naito (Japanese for Knight) who lives in Travis Town and at the beginning of the game sees Sora, Donald and Goofy fight off the Guard Armor. Amazed at the power of the Keyblade, the boy wants a Keyblade of his own and sets off to find one with the help of Cid who helps him by creating him a Gummi Ship.

That's pretty much what I have right now. In short, the game is about getting a Keyblade. Though I'm open to suggestions for story ideas. Providing Sora isn't the main character.

Now it wouldn't be a KH game without Disney worlds huh? Now as I said, no Disney films with sequels already in the KH series.

Robin Hood -> Sherwood Forest -> Robin Hood -> Sheriff of Nottingham -> Golden Arrow

Technical Stuff​

This is where it gets a bit tech. Not much but a bit techy. First off it can't be a 3D game as let's face it, one it would take years and two if it was SE and Disney may want a popular fangame shut down. So it'll be 2D but it'll resume having all the stuff that the KH games have just without 3D. Secondly, it'll be a Windows thing only as the software dev program I use will only work on Windows. Finally, I'll be using a screen res based on the main protagonist's size.

Copyright and Legal Stuff​

I take no credit for the game, the Disney worlds or the Kingdom Hearts series in general. No-one could ever take credit for Disney or Square Enix as their work is too great and anyone who'd try is a fool. I hope that both of the companies understand this and let this fangame grow. Though we understand and respect Disney's or Square Enix's choice of requesting it shut down. In fact here's my email if SE or Disney you are reading this and want it shut down kingtetiro@gmail.com. I hope this tribute to the wonderous world of Kingdom Hearts lives on or dies but gives SE ideas for other disney worlds.

In short, all Kingdom Hearts and Disney concepts, designs, characters etc remain copyright of their respective owners. This game is not affiliated with the Kingdom Hearts series in anyway.

Hey guys sorry for the delay in putting a demo up. Anyway, demo 0.1 has been released. The point in this release is for people to get to grips with the engine. Like I've said, the controls are listed by pressing F1 ingame. The download link's in the first post. Enjoy! Next demo will have a heartless.

 

Here's a little tip. Press F4 to go fullscreen. I may do a couple more worlds. Just means I need to do a bit more jiggery pokery. I was thinking one of the following (As you return to the worlds and as there are 4 bosses per world). There are actually 4 disney world but the last one is a spoiler towards the ending.

Yup and Im working hard on the stats. The enemies will be growing in difficulty on a steady curve. The strongest non-boss enemy will only be able to slay the player in 9 hits. It'll allow players to take on hordes

 

Three days past and I have got a demo update. This time, you can fight Soldier and Shadow heartless but neither you or the enemy will win yet (I tend to leave dying til the actual demo otherwise its annoying for me). Also, alot more has been done for the area including the start of the bottom left corner. Just re-download and you'll have the new version

Another bit of news is that I've asked one of my composers to make some unique songs for the game. Two of which are remakes of "Why Should I Worry" and "Streets of Gold" from Oliver and Company. Go the composer!

Also, I'm coming to the point where I need to stop working on this game unless the problem in this topic can be solved

As you can't level up yet without pressing a button. Not much fun if you can cheat to Level 100.

Second to last, as you can see there is a poll. This poll will decide the 4th Disney World and has been dumbed down to 4 options. Pick your fave and hope it wins!

Finally, the next demo won't be in the New York City. Instead, it will be in the Station of Awakening. And yes, that's where the game will start (Either that or Traverse Town with after 5 mins going to the SoA)

Anyway, that's all the updates and news for now until the next demo! Toodle pip! *Puts on a Professor Layton type hat and walks out the door*

 

In the past couple of days I have been hard at work working on the Station of Awakening graphics. I designed them a bit different to the one Sora,Roxas and Ventus go to seeing as they are all of same keyblade and heart(ish). Whilst Naito's Station has the usual top, the sides are bare due to his heart being in doubt and undecided.

Anyway, I really need people to vote in the poll. So if you guys who read this new update can do that I'd appreciate it

 

Providing Square Enix and Disney don't shut it down, yeh. It's exclusively for this site.
