    Alright, some rules.

    1. Your submission must be your own work.

    2. Submissions must be private messaged to me by the due date, or they will be disqualified.

    3. Your submission must be related to the theme- if it is a task to include a certain phrase, the phrase must be in there, if you're supposed to write about a certain topic, you must do so, etc.

    4. Submissions should be around 1000 words. I won't automatically disqualify you if you go a little over, but try to keep it around there. If there are a lot of submissions, I want everyone to be able to devote enough time to really read all of the entries.

    5. Submissions will be posted as they are sent to me. I won't check for grammar or spelling, or anything like that.

    6. One entry per person.

    7. First place prize for now will be a rep, and having your work placed in the Hall of Fame. First place will also choose the next theme.

    8. Keep it PG-13.

I guess that's all I can think of for right now.

    ---

For this first contest, I'm going to play on the suggestion made by Overdose. The format is free- you can write a poem, a short story, a play, whatever you wish. And it can be about any topic you wish. But you must include mention of a red hairbrush.

The due date will be March 28, 2010, 11:59 pm Central time. This will give three weeks to get your submissions to me. Voting will begin March 29 and will last a week.

Comments should be made in the suggestion thread. I will reopen this thread when I am ready to post the entries for voting.

I do not think anyone else will enter in the next 10 minutes, so I am going ahead and opening the voting before I go to bed.

Please vote for the entry you think is the best, and explain why you chose that. Please take some time to consider and provide a meaningful reason for your choice. Is the plot handled well? Characters well written? Do you enjoy the style? Is the piece well organized? Whatever you can think of. I'm not looking for anyone to make a list of those things I mentioned above and check them off- I'm just trying to avoid spammier posts, and people voting for their friends and that sort of thing. >_<

I have done no editing- all I have done is check to make sure a red hairbrush was mentioned in each entry.

    Anyways, in no particular order...

    Entry 1

Again, I have done nothing but check for the hairbrush.

    Entry 2

And again, just checked for the brush. ^_^

That is all of the entries- thanks to everyone who contributed. VOTING IS NOW OPEN. You have until April 4 to get your votes in.

EDIT because I forgot to mention- please don't vote for yourselves. It should be a given, but it seems like every competition, someone will do it.

  6. Beloved

    Beloved Azure's Beloved

I vote for entry 2. It's so innocently written, and everyone loves a cheesy moment every once in a while. :p

I also vote for entry 2. It's a lighthearted and sweet little moment in these people's lives. The writing style was the most enjoyable for me to read through- I dunno, it kinda reminds me of something I'd find in a Chicken Soup for the Soul book, or something. ^_^

Honors would probably go to Entry 3. Really, there's something I like about all of the entries, but entry 2 jumped out at me from the first moment I read it.

  8. Keyblade Master Roxas

Keyblade Master Roxas Shake the Core.

I vote for entry number three. I really like the writing style. It reminded me of Romeo and Juliet for some weird reason. But I like how the red hair brush is in the poem. I like it a lot.

Congrats to the other contestants. ^_^

  9. EtherealSummoner

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

I like Entry number 3 better. I like how the person was able to use a red hairbrush to go along with the title. Entry 2 is good but for some reason, it don't really remind me of "A moment of rest" to me.

Well, I was hoping someone would vote to break this tie, but alas...

The winners are Shadow*91 with "A Moment of Rest" and Dark Riku with "Till Death Do Us Part"

    Congrats!
