Warlords of the Borders: War of the North

Leonardo clashed blades with one of the skilled soldiers in a large circle surrounded by his other troops. The soldier breathed hard and looked at him with eyes of determination. "Now, listen and pay attention all of you," he said charging at the soldier. As they clashed blades he spoke effortlessly, "In the heat of battle, you must understand the way your opponent moves within the very first swing of your blade. When this is done, you have truly," he sidestepped and disarmed the soldier and held the blade up at his throat, "defeated your opponent. Run through the quick draw techniques again! This time, try to understand what your opponent shall do next and victory shall be yours. If you are the one who has been disarmed, you shall do the runs again and again till you have won."

 

Robin was impressed, he knew how to use a blade, but how this King did it, he was impressed, he was doing things he had only seen once, and was never able to do. Maybe he would be able to get something out of this. He had his small hammer with him, he didn't want to get his blade hammer. This one was his fav. So he took the blade the king had gave him and was about to go out, then he saw the guy he was staying with. "Hey, so, this is the first day of training for you, and it's hard, i wouldn't go out there if I was you. I tried and was nearly dead tried." His friend said(his name is mike) "Well Mike, i think i will go out there right now. I need to learn the blade even more than i know now." He told him. Robin walked in the middle of the circle, he looked at the King,"We had one battle before, but that was with my hammer, this time it is with a blade, and i know how to use it." Robin said, he got ready, and the king talked again.

 

Leonardo looked onward as his lion walked up next to him and he petted him. He looked up at Robin, then at Mike and raised his hand. Mik got into his stance, preaparing to attack Robin. "Remember, the very first swing determines what you can get from your opponent. Begin!"

 

"FATHER!! FATHER!!" Delia started to run after him with two maidens behind her with several utensils. "*GASP* LOOK AT YOU! I TOLD YOU NOT TO WANDER OFF BY YOURSELF!!! You're hurt!!! See what I mean?! When will thy eyes will open to the violence that can crush my future and yours? Ladies! Help me take him to his bed! After we get him ready, we shall give him my newest creation, CHAI TEA!!! Princess Delia then started to prepare the beds while the maidens were draggoing Reeben to the bed, getting ready to heal his wounds. "PLease don't leave me. I don't want to suffer like my cousin. You're the only one dear to me..."

 

"Don't worry, my child." Reeron puffed out as he laid on the bed. He stopped to think for a while. His eyes then opened and looked at the princess with determination. "It.... were trolls." he then suddenly said.
"They suddenly targeted me. They were not just bandits or mercenaries, but trained killers. Assassins and the like"

 

Mike ran forward with his blade down to his side, Robin stood there with his sword up and ready. Mike slashed up and Robin put his foot down on the blade before it could reach him, it didn't cut his foot, because of the metal plates at the bottom of his boots. All of his foot wear had metal plates, they helped. Robin had his blade pointed to Mikes neck. "Is that all?" he asked.

 

Leonardo walked out into the center of the circle and clapped his hands. "That was very impressive, your elven speed causes your reflexes to be higher than most warriors, however." He pointed to his boot on the ground, he had made a dent in the ground from his movement, "If you wish to defeat your enemy by pure drawing of your blade, then you musn't move your planted feet. This goes for all of us. When are in the battlefield, we must be able to make crisp and precise movements!" He thought back to the first war he had witnessed with his father. It was skirmish between two warring factions of the Men of the North. His father troops were so disciplined and efficient in battle that the first line didn't lose a single troop. He wanted his soldiers to be the same way, but it would take a lot of work and guidance from him as a king to make it so.

"My league. I heard that you want to take over the lands of the mystical elves." "Correct. Lord Apollo, as the son of my late father who was killed by the wretched dwarves, I demand thee to kidnap the last heir of that majestic race. I heard that she is the only sole survivor. But let's take haste. Soon, we will rule the whole land. Once we have the Dark Elves join our side, we will then lead the attack on the Dwarves very soon. We shall make the trolls rend the earth that they walk on and make them fall into the deepest darkness. Lord Apollo, I thank you for being there for a good cause." "This wish I will grant you." Lord Apollo then turned around and walked out of the throne room, going in his secret basement hidden underground. There, villagers were tormented and were changed into monsters. "The fool. Now I can finally acquire me great power. Princess Solange. She carries so much power. I heard that the royal family has the power to hear nature. Soon, she will become my bride. Tis a shame as to how those she care fell. I shall be the god of this land!I'm the rightful person for it is destiny's will for me to dominate."He then head to the top of the tower several minutes later and made thunderbolts fall from his hands, signaling the next attack....

 

Sabim nodded to his fellow god and said in a wise and sage-like tone of voice, "Indeed it would seem that they would never survive. However, the gallantry of the two outshines even my own. Their hearts are strong and unbreakable. The one known as Leonardo however will achieve his goals no matter what. This is because he wants everything within Allansia to be unified under the same sky."

 

Robin was kinda shocked, his hair hide his ears, and he never said a thing about being half elf, how did he guess? He looked at King Leo, he asked him but only for him to hear,"How did you know i was half elf? I never told you, and i know you did not guess, what gave it away?" He asked him, he didn't want anybody to know, anybody who knows dies, but he had really never killed out of cold blood, he always had a reason, and he needed a good one at that. But how did he know?

 

Leonardo touched the arm of Robin and smiled. "The elven muscle is a lot less heavy than the human muscle, allowing you to naturally move faster without really needing the proper training. That was the main give away. The second one way the way you handled your hammer. The only race that uses the hammer in such a technique is the elven tribes. I am King, I must know these things," he said with a polite smile.

 

"I see, i always try to show my human side. Please dont say this to anybody. I would rather nobody know. You must know that there are a few of my kind, and we like to be kept hidden, elves and humans do not show kindness to us. Now i know i must not go so fast any more. i'll go more man speed than elf." He told the king. He walked back and up to Mike,"Hey, sorry to put you out like that, hope you aren't mad." He asked. "Man, i'm not mad, i'm never mad at losing, it's okay." Mike replied. Robin and Mike walked away. Robin bumped into a solider, "Sorry man my mistake." Robin told him, but he didn't care. He grabbed Robin and threw him inside the circle. He walked up to King leo and keeled, "My lord, let me spar against this new comer, show him how to use the blade." he asked him

 

Leonardo nodded to Mike and allowed them to spar. A general of his came up to him and bowed. "My king, our new scouts have approved the camp of the enemy outside the kingdom limits into a vacant valley outside of our borders. What do you want us to do?"

Leonardo, making a mental picture in his mind looked to his general and spoke, "Make three barricading fences out of thorned bushes and have our archers set up a defensive frontation on the eastern and western areas of the kingdom. The enemy will have to go through a hail of arrows and thorns in order to cross."

Reeron ginned warmly at the ground. He then slowly looked up. "How could i ever forget the day of birth of my own daughter?" he then said. He stood up, trying not to use too much energy, and hugged Delia warmly. "Stop worrying so much, child. I've been king for a long time now. I won't let my family suffer because of my faults..." He went quite for a while. "Besides.. i still haven't enjoyed your chai tea to the fullest yet, i'm not ready to die yet...

 

Leonardo nodded and waved goodbye to his still training soldiers and called for his horse. The same woman from before came to him with his horse and looked up at him with kind eyes. He smiled at her and put on his Yoroi helmet and mounted his black horse and looked at her and then at his kingdom and at his friend. "Robin will be joining us along with a small group of my bodyguards."
