    Divine Magic

The story begins long ago, perhaps four billion years, when the world was created. The First god was named Sen Ventra, the god of nature on this world. He granted the Senz race power over natures great elements. Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. The second was named Rein (Ree- in), and was god over Light and Darkness. He granted the Reens race power over these elements, Light and Dark. The Third Goddess was named Seesa (sea - sah) who lorded over the core energy of life. She gave the Seace, (see - s) power over force, letting them tap into their auras to strengthen their bodies and work wonders with their inner energy.

How ever, peace did not last. A fight broke out among the gods, who in their greed wished to take the world for their own. A war was sparked that lasted for a hundred years. Battles raged across the three continents until finally, the gods grieved by the losses of their beloved people, decided to stop the fighting and live in peace once more. How-ever, it was not easy to stop the fighting and all the gods could do was sit in watch with sorrow as man destroyed itself.

Finally, a group of humans from all the races decided to end the war. They were called the Defd'e, and they worked to bring peace back to their fair home. When they had finally restored peace, a golden age began. But during the hundred years war, most of the histories were lost. The Defd'e, having complete their purpose, became the great Librarian Order, and began working to restore as much of the past as possible. Great libraries were constructed, and mage schools were created. These schools not only taught magic, but also medicine, reading and writing, as well as languages spoken by the various tribes of their world.

When a acolyte completed his/her studies, they were ranked with the title of Traveler Mage, and they were sent out to on vast journeys to recover lost text and legends that would give the librarians insight to the past. When their journey was complete, they became Sages, and began work in the libraries. Usually these Sages would build homes in the cities near the library they worked in, but on occasion a few Sages would live inside the library, devoting their lives to studying magic and history.

The story starts in the Mage Academy of Isenstar, a city located in the northern continent. Several mages have completed their studies, and now they begin their journey. But first, they have to make it to the graduation ceremony.

"Crap, I'm so gonna be late." Ben panted, as he turned a corner, almost knocking over a couple of seventh year students. "Sorry!" He yelled over his shoulder, then skidded around another corner. "Sen Ventra, why today of all days did i have to over sleep?" He turned another corner and slammed into another student. When he managed to get back up, he noticed it was Zuan. "Oh man. Sorry Zuan. I over slept."

(I think you meant Kuan there. . .)

"Out of my WAAAAaaaAAAAAY!" A shrill voice shrieked before a crashing noise was heard. The girl that the voice had belonged to had apparently tripped on an apple while on top of a hill, rolled down the hill, and plowed straight into a barrel filled with feathers. She was dressed in something that wasn't unlike a Qi Pao in style, and was a very light blue in color. And this girl was apparently stuck in the barrel now. She struggled for a moment, achieving nothing other than the barrel falling over. A creak echoed from it as Nadania sighed, "Can anybody help me out here? I'm in a hurry and I can't get out of this stupid barrel!"

"Here. Give me your hand." Sendo said as he knelt down. He was wearing a long sleeve shirt, colored a light tan. His pants were a darker shade, almost a dirt brown. On his hands were black leather gloves, the right having a blue lightning bolt etched into the back. Around his neck was a small silver amulet, a dragon carved into its silver metal. Stabbed into the ground next to him was a wooden staff, with a large blue diamond fixed into the top. Sendo's clear blue eyes and bright smile made him appear as some kind stranger. His shoulder length black hair hanged off the left side of his face, except for one stubborn lock which hung over his left eye. "We gotta hurry if we're gonna make it to graduation."

Gerik stood on a rooftop overlooking the location for the graduation ceremony. He was already in his traveling mage outfit. The only thing he was missing was the brown cloak with the traveling mage seal. That would be given during the ceremony. Gerik felt a gentle breeze blow through his hair. He smiled as he looked out to the horizion. "Finally. Freedom. Go wherever I wish. Nobody to tell me what to do." He moved towards a part of the rooftop, where he had gotten up from.

Nadania grabbed Sendo's hand and helped to pull herself out of the barrel. The girl then dusted herself of the feathers before turning to her savior and giving him a friendly hug. She blurted, "Thanks! You were in my History class. . . Sendo, right? Well, anyways, I gotta go! Bye!" then began running off before tripping and falling flat on her face. The clutzy girl got right back up on her feet called out, "I'm OKAY!" before continuing on her journey.

    (it's Sendo, Mog. no u)

"Always in a rush. She should take things a little slower." Sendo grabbed his staff and began walking towards the graduation hall. So today's finaly the day. I can't wait to start my journey. I wonder... I wonder if I'll find some details. About my past.

Z was walking into town for his graduation ceremony, he really didn't care if he was late or not. as he did he laughed at all the others running and falling just to get there. He had been walking the long way and looked up to the town clock and saw he was really going to be late, and if he was he might have to do another year of school, which he didn't want to do. He pulled the earth up and broke the particles into sand. As sand lay at his feet he made it lift him up and he flew on it. He knew some people would think he's a show off, but who cares?

    >I ain't waiting on Zhy any more. I'll just pretend his character can't talk at the moment.<

After apologizing to a bemused Kuan, Ben headed off again. Soon he was able to see the great doors that lead to the hall of memories. He put on a spurt of speed and just barely made it in time for his ceremony. He drew a calming breath, smoothed out his red hair (his hair is actually red, not purple. I just noticed), then walked inside. Before him was his old teacher, Sage Raidu. "Hello master." Ben said in surprise. "Why are you here? I thought the head master conducted this event." "Indeed my son, he does." He said in a wispy voice. "But since I had been with you since your early days, I thought you would wish for a friend to wish you luck, and be present. I understand your parents couldn't make it." Ben looked down at his feet. "We both know why that is. They abandoned me to this school, robbing me of any knowledge of a mothers embrace, or a fathers teachings." Raidu also sighed sadly. "They didn't abandon you child. They were but poor people who wished something better for you. That was the wish of your father before they were forced to leave the city." Ben looked up in surprise. "Why wasn't I told of this?" He asked suddenly overcome with rage. "Why did no one see fit to tell me about my parents!" He lifted his hand up and blasted a nearby vase with a ball of flame. Raidu raised his eyebrow, and Ben began trying to get his composure. "Sorry. I know wielders of flame shouldn't lose their temper." "And yet, you are most justified. It was the wish of your parents to leave you in the dark so you wouldn't try to find them until you were fully trained. The head master will conduct your ceremony, and you will be elevated from Acolyte to Traveler Mage. After this, you may search for them, for we do not restrict the traveler magi in their movements unless a incredibly good reason comes up were we must direct them to a location." Ben sat down in a nearby chair, and stared at the floor again. "Sorry, master Raidu." Raidu walked out from behind the table which contained several robes and books for the mages that would graduate today. "Don't worry. You will find what your heart seeks. There is no doubt you will be a fine mage. I have never trained a better pupil." Ben smiled. "I must attend to some things before the ceremony starts. After that I will return. Perhaps you can meditate on your temper?" He suggested with a twinkle in his eye, then left.

This day begins the rest of my life. A new age of teetering upon the line between life and death, I suppose.

Kuan ambled through the corridors of what would soon, no longer be his home, clad in the traditional, ceremonial robes of the mages. On this day, he would be admitted into the ranks of those mages who had graduated from the school, and upon his release, immediately begin his quest as a traveler. His path, unlike many of the other mages he had spoken with, was not firmly set for his travel. He would be winging it, like anyone who had any sense in them. When it came down to the bear matter, traveling was meant to be unplanned, and unannounced. The mage, in Kuan’s opinion, should be one that came upon a place with no prior announcements, nor any hint of coming. Under these same pretenses, he believed, a mage should depart form a place, leaving no trace, other than his good will, upon the area, and the people.

As he rounded a corner, his mind wrapped around how much his travels would reveal about his world, he found himself unexpectedly pushed over, seeing the ceiling above him, and a clamoring hand trying to push its body back up. A quick, flustered voice uttered an apology, and a fellow mage dashed off to prepare himself for the graduation ceremonies. Kuan only caught sight of this person from behind, but knew just as well of whom he was. His name, as Kuan recalled, was Ben Cross, a fire wielder. He had often had his run-ins with Ben in the past, one time, he had even broken into a fight with him. There was no real reason for these tensions; they simply existed without cause, which oft perplexed the necromancer to no end. Luckily, the fire-wielder had not lost much temper today. In fact, he had hardly even noticed whom it was that he had run into.

    What an odd person.

As Sendo walked into the room, his mind was racing with thoughts about his future. Aside from the normal search for knowledge, we are allowed to do as we wish. But what I'll be doing is searching for knowledge, just not the knowledge I'm supposed to find. I finally have an excuse to find out about me. about why I can't remember or why I have this amulet. Hopefully I'll find my answers soon. He stopped as he noticed another acolyte in the room. "Oh, hi. I have you in one of my classes. Your name is... Ven, right?"

Gerik landed on the ground, near the ladder he had gotten up to the roof from. He looked around. The ceremony was gonna start soon. "What to do first?" Gerik wondered to himself. "I can go wherever. And yet, I don't know what to do with this freedom. There was that one thing I asked a professor. What happens to mages who go rogue? If there were some specific type of history to find, that'd probably be it. I should ask Raidu again. After the ceremony."

As Z landed on stage, he seemed to be the first on there already, he was surprised, most of the time he was always late. He closed his eyes and with his earth ability he sensed anybody the was walking, he felt many people he knew coming here. He stopped and thought about the the last day he talked to his teacher, he asked how can someone ever see a god? The teacher had told him nobody has seen them so far as long as he knew. That's was also the day he found an ancient book, a book that anybody would kill for, as he read he learned more and more of the old age, and about the gods, with a 5000 paged book, it would take awhlie to read.

"Hey guys." Ben said, stepping onto the stage himself. "This will be great. No one is more free than the traveler magi. One long adventure." Ben was a romantic sometimes. He didn't give much thought to the hard life ahead of him, but even if he did, he would be more than ready for the task set before him. He could be level headed sometimes.

Z looked over at Ben, he never really knew him that well, had a class with him but with everyone else, he didn't talk to him that much. An occasionally high or how you doing thing but never a conversation. Z turned to Ben to take a full look at him and sat down. He didn't really care to talk to him so he just looked towards the people coming in and sitting, to bad he didn't have anyone to come see him. As he turned around he saw another person coming, "Lezardus" he thought.

Lezardus started to make his way towards the stage with a couple of books in his hands. He was starting to get embarrassed as his mom was cheering for him. As he was walking, he stood next to Ben & looked at him. Not saying anything, he just sat down in one of the chairs while looking at the sky. Some of the necromancers was laughing at him in a corner, plotting something for him but it didn't bother him.

Nadania stepped onto the stage, apparently free from mishap, brushing down her hair from her first accident du jour. The girl walked over to where most of the other Reens were, and took a seat. However, she came one inch too far in front of the seat and missed it entirely, falling backwards and hitting her head on the chair. She felt a bump start growing where the aching spot was and she sighed. "Aii. . . nothing is going right today." Nadania muttered as a small light appeared on the forefinger of her left hand. She moved this finger to the spot where the swelling was, and it immediately went to normal. The ditz hopped up onto her seat, continuing, "Well, I suppose that it's a good thing that I'm a Reen then."

"What is taking the head master so frigging long?" Ben asked the world at large. Not only was the head master late, but Ben was starting to feel a need to leave. He needed to move on, so why was this taking so long?

Sendo slowly made his way to his seat. He kept to himself mostly, an occasional smile or wave to a friend. As he sat down he wondered exactly how the ceremony played out. The Acolytes weren't allowed to watch because of classes so Sendo had never seen one before. And the graduates always left before Sondo could ask how it went so he was really in the dark. He wondered if there would be some special magic or if some secret would be revealed. In any case, Sendo waited patiently for it to begin.

    >Ok. Lets get the head master in this. I'll post a few words on "being careful" and "wisdom" and we can get going. As of now, no more apps for travelers will accepted.<

Finally, Headmaster Bartholomew entered the room. "Will all the graduates please stand?" He asked. Everyone stood. He mounted the podium they were on, and turned to face the small audience. "Thank you all for being here today. Because I am sure that our magi wish to start their journeys already, I will try to keep this brief." He looked at every mage's face, one after the other before continuing. "The people you see before you, although young, are now considered men in our eyes. They have shown themselves to be brave and resourceful. We would not let them leave if they were not ready. Now i say this because i know a few parents are here. I will not pretend that this journey is an easy one. Sometimes a Traveler Mage dies in this journey. How-ever, right now, i believe they will all be successful on the road ahead. It will be long, full of hardship, and pain. But it will also be full of joy and happiness. May these new traveler Magi find the hidden history we long for. May their quests be successful. I will now present them with the trappings of their new trade." He turned to face them. "First, the cloak of the traveler mage. Though you may enter many battles, this will never rip or tear, and it will defend you from the spells of your enemies, though you should still be cautious. You can still be injured, but the cloak will mend itself." He gave a cloak to each mage. "Next, the books of the traveler mage. These pages are blank, but will one day be powerful sagas of your travels. They may be thick, but these can never wear you down." He hands them all a book. "Next, the pack of the mage. This will contain all the tools you require for your magics, and they will also hold any scrolls or books you find that pretain to our history. This will also, never wear you down." He hands them all a satchel, which they immediatly put their books in. "And now, finally, i grant you all this." He pulls out several necklaces. Each has the crest of each mages family and race. "These will allow you to summon help from another mage. You need but only hold the crest in your hand. They will also boost your magic abilities to allow you greater strength. I now declare you traveler magi. May your quests be filled with good fortune. Go forth with my blessing." With that, everyone has graduated.

It has been several hours since the graduation ceremony. All mages have to make their final good byes to friends and family. Ben came from far away, so he has no family. He does have a loved one though. A young woman, Kara. They are both sitting outside. Ben is leaning on a tree, and Kara is leaning on him. Both are looking at the full moon in the sky. Neither have to say anything. It would make the coming seperation harder. "I'll visit." Ben simply states. "I know." She replies.

...And so tomorrow morn, I depart to begin my journey. To find the history of the world, and hopefully mine as well.
Sendo finished writing the sentence before closing his book. He had written his first entry, filled with his hopes and fears for the journey he would begin, in the hopes that if anyone were to ever one day study Sendo the mage, they would understand his point of view. He had already checked everything that was given to him; the book he just wrote in, the bag filled with items yet charmed to feel as light as a feather, and the cloak. He had already tested it by zapping a small corner with a lightning bolt only to have it repair itself in a minute. However he did feel it was a bit plain so using the little sewing skill he had he added a hood to it, as well as a small blue lightning bolt around the neck claspe. Tomorrow... tomorrow, everything will change. I just hope... just hope it's for the better.
