I'm not Athiest, far from it, so dont worry about it. I believe in God, haha. So yeah, dont worry about it, and I'm sure Toph is ok with it too. Everyone judges eachother.

I know that you're not atheist Roxas. I would never say that. I know that you believe in God. I can tell. When you post your replies, I can tell you that have a really high belief, like you are trying to ascend to an arch angel or something.

Lol, I couldn't help myself from interfering- too many years as a mod laying the smackdown on folks. ^_^

Yeah, don't worry about it. The comment I made wasn't purely directed to you, either. Reading through the last few pages, I've noticed a lot of assumptions and lack of understanding. It's definitely true that everyone judges each other. The trick is to still be respectful and show some tact.

@Mythril: Out of curiousity, and of course you don't have to answer, is there an established religion that you believe in, or are you sort of coming up with your own beliefs from various things you've picked up in research?

Has anyone read the work of Epicurus, the ancient greek philosopher? He wrote something on the problem of evil that I found interesting.

    Any comments?

haha, i'll take that as a compliment, but i'm not egotistical, so no, i'm not trying to be an arch angel.
i'm not a kid and oh look at Toph's post, I was right. Toph seems like a good and fair person, she wouldn't get mad at something so small. So don't pat me on the head like your above me. I really don't like it when people do that.

    haha

I am caught inbetween religions sort of, no there is no religion that i 100% agree with or would want to belong to. Judaism seems interesting, but maybe to dogmatic. Buddhism is too metaphorical and peaceful. Zoroastrianism is practically dead. And Hindu's culture is a little insane. So I stick with my own beliefs, I go to church here and there, not so much to learn, but to remind myself why I am the way I am. To remind myself of the hate. Its all very complicated, and I know that going to church to hate it seems kinda sinful...right? But its what drives me forward to search for the truth.

I believe in some of the Apocraphitical books of the Bible (aka Book of Enoch, Book of Noah, ect.), Zoroastrianism, and some elements of Hinduism and Budhism (reincarnation and karma).
Yes, he was interesting but a little bit Athiest. I dont believe in his theories, but he was a questioner, and I like how he portrays God in the sense that he shows the hypocrosy of many religion's gods. I like those who question. Because those who question get all the more closer to the answer compaired with those who don't question at all. Logically it makes perfect sense...right?

And? This is a debate thread.

I haven't read much at all by him, but I stumbled across the quote I posted above while searching for something else. I like that he asks this question, because when I think about God, the existence of evil is something that has bugged me. I have read some people who say that the answer to E's question is that God allows evil in order to grant us the gift of free will.

I know I just posted because Christianity is not a religion.

Saying Christianity isn't a religion is like saying Islam isn't a religion because there are the Shi'ites and the Shah. (I believe that's the two. . .) Your statement has no meaning.

Well, I believe it was free will that lead to evil. Evil exists, its all around us. Thats my view.

    Huh?

As defined by Clifford Geertz (Religion as a Cultural System, 1973.

How can you say Christianity doesn't fit this?

so if there wasn't evil, then we would not have free will and be mindless puppet's for him to do his bidding to? is that what your implying Toph? and god granted us free will so we would not be lead around like dogs and we could live lie him minus the godly powers, and if free will leads to evil then it should lead to good as well. a quote from a saying a i heard, if you can walk down one road, then you can surely walk down the other.

Christianity isn't a religion, it is a lifestyle, the way you live your life.

So the bible is just a book that guides you how to jog?

I don;t understand what you mean by that.

Then re-do your thesis. If Christianity is just a life-style amongst the religions, how in the hell it has 2.1 billion adherents who claim it as their primary religion and path of faith?

Anybody can claim to be a Christian, but living the life is what really matters.

I don't still see anything that proves your original thesis to be the truth, that Christianity is not a religion amongst others. It may only be your opinion, but that's a very odd thing to say that so-thought religion would not be what all of us have thought for a loooong time now.

Christianity may cause change something to someone's lifestyles, but the religion itself is not only creating a faithul lifestyle, it consist of the faith itself and believing in something that a man hasn't proven right for centuries.

Still, it's a bold thing to say that it isn't a religion.
