Fate

"Sounds good to me!" Angelous replied, cracking his knuckles. "Oh and Damon, I like to meddle in the elements. Gives me a bit of a.." he hesitated for effect, "fiery temper!" He shot a flame at Damon, which fell 5 inches short of his head, and singed his eyelashes.

"Oops, sorry about that." Angelous laughed, not feeling particularly sorry whatsoever, but rather overcome at how funny that had been.

 

"Fine by me." Gerik said. "Just wanted the group's input. Just to see how you'd react."



Zion and Gamlin went back to the classroom. "Myre, Myles, and Zephyr. You guys are with me and Gamlin." Zion saw that Gerik was already with his group. "Oooookkkkaaaayyy... We've got the choice between two different E ranked missions. No fighting involved. Just some shopping."

 

"I'm sure it's fine." Zion said. "Both of these missions are just learning exercises. Teaching us how to buy stuff. Sounds stupid, I know. And I suppose it's better for us to take thesecond one anyways. In order for us to get better weapons, we need to buy them. Gerik's weapon is different. He wields a Gunblade." Zion started to explain. "Nobody in the world actually sells a stronger version of a Gunblade. Instead, Gunblade wielders need to collect certain parts. Once they have those parts, and enought money, they can go to a special shop where they use those parts and upgrade the Gunblade, making it stronger."

 

"Of course. We just gotta stop at Deicius' office first to confirm the mission taking place." Gerik and Zion said at the same time.

"Can't wait for better missions to become available." Gerik said. "Then we actually get to fight. Last year, all the fighting missions I did involved fighting monsters. Good practice. Although some of them... They become difficult to kill."

>Does Deicius give them money to buy the items?<

 

Gerik followed Yuuya, making sure the other two members of his group were following him.

"Yeah. That's Gerik for ya. Always wanting to hurry up and start whatever adventure he believes is waiting for him." Zion started walking to Deicius' office with the group. "Just try going on a mission by yourself with him. I remember this one time. After we had been here for about half a year. He dragged me along on to a D rank mission. So it was just him and me going. He had overestimated the mission. As it turns out, that mission was a C rank mission by mistake. We had to be rescured from a group of monsters. In fact, it was Deicius who rescued us. When he realized there had been a mistake ranking the mission, he went to get us as fast as he could. Safe to say, Gerik made sure to look through all the details of all the missions he chose afterwards. I think that mistake actually did some good for him. He knows to not rush into things. He's actually grown alot in the one year we've been here."

 

So they were going to the shop. It was just like doing the freaking groceries. And this was how people started out? The greatest and most famous of fighters, essentially being shop assistants? Pathetic... Angelous doubted it very strongly.

"Guess I'll just follow you guys, after all, it can't be that hard to buy some stuff, unless the shopkeeper is blind, deaf and half-troll."

 

Zion thought about an answer for Myre. "Hmm... To become a Battler varies for people. Usually it takes 3 to 4 years. But there are some students who are so exceptional that they become Battlers in half the usual time. And I think it depends on your class too. Some classes are easier to become Battlers. Beastmasters, for examples, are one of the more difficult classes. To be one, you need to have some kind of special connection with animals. Without having that connection, you'd have to take a much longer time here. The Academy would send you through classes that teach you to develop that connection. I suppose that's why the Beastmaster class is one of the smallest classes here."



"We're doing the mission to learn some of the basics." Gerik said to Angelous. "You guys haven't done any fight training, so Deicius won't let any of us go on a fighting mission. And odds are, there's probably some secret objective included in this mission. Like teamwork or something. Don't ask me how. Deicius likes to throw curveballs like that at us. 'Expect the unexpected' or something like that. Something required to become a Battler."

 

Myles listened to their conversation intently as he followed them, and didn't speak a word as he minded where he was going. Being prone to falling, and all that. Of course, he finally felt the need to interject. "Yeah. . . I think the next to least used class is Jester. But that's only because you hafta be good at cracking witty remarks at your opponent."

 

"Yes sir." Gerik answered. "We have decided on the mission. The first one sir. Purchasing five ethers. We are ready to begin now."


"They probably talk to animals all the time." Zion said to Myre. "Last year, there was this one guy. He was a Beastmaster. He graduated that year. His room was kinda wierd. It didn't seem to be a room. He had removed an outer wall or something. So he basically slept outside. That way, his wolf was able to sleep next to him. Like a bit warm blanket."

 

Damon walked over to Deicius as Zephyr goofed around and socialized during class.

"Mr. Instructor... Sir, Deicius- Sir?" Damon said hesitantly trying to understand what to call Deicius, "Umm... Well, I was wondering if I was to be put on a mission, or ermm... something. And if so, was was also kinda wondering what team I'd be on, and err, yeah..." Damon stuttered, really shy.

There was no need to be hesitant around Deicius, but Damon wasn't used to asking questions, but finding them out on his own- and that in this case wouldn't work.

"S-S-Sir?" Damon gulped.

 

Damon gasped and looked down at his shoes, his face flushing up in embarrassment if that was true.

"Oh well... I guess that would be a logical possibility... but I did---" Damon then remember Angelous. He was the weird guy who snatched his notebook to admire his dumb doodle. Damon then looked back up at Deicius.

"OH. Err... well, sh-should I go check with him?"
