well was wondering would it be a good idea to put before you send pms like tags or notes at the top that say dont send ads or invites to other sites or something cause a lot of new ppl do that and i was wondering if there was a way to tell them if they dont read the rules.

another thing was would it be a good idea to have a link type of thread to places that have kh info casue some ppl ask were it's at and i dont know how to make links so thought it would be good idea if there was something that had links to different sites that we look on for like interviews or something like that, maybe?

    you guys get it?

They would do it anyway. If someone doesn't read the rules that doesn't already know them it's their own fault. And usually they just register that they could advertise some sites.

Don't know what others might think about this but it's the same to me since it wouldn't stop anyway.

Sadly, there is nothing in the FAQ about not advertising, but people should still read the rules in the introduction forum.

First thing before you post, is read the rules. Its in the agreement shizz when you register. If you dont follow them... i'll hunt you down.

Sadly, I never found the rules until 5 days AFTER I joined.

But I agree with noz here. Take erolsz for example. For those who do not know who that was, was a member who joined only to PM and VM everyone about their site and never post.
    I like seeing 2 steps.

    1. Member Advertises> Name and Shame> Infraction/Warning
    2. Member Continues Advertising> Banned

if the first thing a new member does is advertise they should be banned imediatly. Its obvious what they joined for.

    How about one of those...

Though you are probably right, I may be too naive about these things.

in that situation I would just remove the link.

But in recent cases new members have joined and PM'ed me asking to join certain sites. Obviously I forwarded the message to an admin and I was shocked to still see them allowed to post.

that has happened to me too, they pm me about some site and i try to tell them your not supposed to do that, so i was wondering if there was some system that could tell them not to do this.

But they would do it anyway.

maybe make it 25 posts before u can pm or vm someone?

That would be a better idea than the original in this topic. But would that be possible to those kind of adjustments?

very easy thing to do, make a member group with restricted access. same way you become an eliete with 1000 posts

that could work maybe they wouldn't have to be vms but pms that would be good and they do think they'll see pms. plus they wouldn't want to stay on this site for that long.

I don't think it would work - they'd just spam up one thread - it'd only take 1 minute to post the same thing 25 times, and then do it before a mod could do anything. Is it really that necessary to eliminate this? Admittedly I have received only two since I joined, but I've fallen in love with that magic little 'delete' button see? ^^

much easier for a mod to stop a topic spammer / bot than someone advertising a forum via PM.

More than half dont get reported and cant be seen by the majority of staff members. A topic would only arise if someone was insanely stupid or if it were a bot.

Bots only lurk in dead forums, this forum aint dead.
