Hmm.. Well I suppose that's one way to go about linking it.

Because you don't act on bravery and let your fears consume you -e.g. doubt and what have you- you become depressed.

On the other hand if you act on that bravery but still fail, you can still get sad even though you acted on your bravery. Now you can have a fear of repeating the same mistake, among other things.

But Hope Will Stall That When It Happens, Give You Hope That You Know Not To Make That Same Mistake, Or Do That Again.

As I stated before hope is an illusion in many cases. In this case it's subject to doubt.

    explain that, dont get it.

If you have an irreversible/incurable cancer. The doctors tell you you are going to die, but you don't give up hope. You can do what ever you like -e.g. pray for help from God or w.e.- invest money into research -assuming you have that money- or just live out your days as if nothings wrong.

In the end you still die.

That would be hope as an illusion.

In the case you've given me hope is subject to doubt. You could hope all you want that you don't fail again, but some where in the back of your mind it lingers there. The fear of failing. The knowledge of what will come when you do.

OK THEN, IF NOT HOPE, THEN acceptance, you understand what is going to happen, and you greet it, and that would be aka calmness.

In order to accept something first we must not fear it. Unfortunately as humans we have a tendency to fear what we don't know. If you saw the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still -the recent one- you would see that was evident. Other ways to show this are during times when people were throwing out scientific ideas about the creation of man, or the orbit of the earth vs. the orbit of the sun. Both ideas were shunned and treated as heresy because they were different yet perfectly understandable. People didn't want the earth to revolve around the sun because that would mean the earth wasn't the center of the universe and that man was truly not important, which would eventually -after a still long list- bring us back to fear.

Now when we get to the point where we can over come our fear, we begin to accept things, but that doesn't mean our nature -or instinct- accepts it. If your instincts tell you to run from what it views as a dangerous scenario but your logic say is not, what do you follow? You knowledge -though few go with their gut.

In the end your body still realizes the stress and sets in motion chemical reactions that trigger fear.

man, cant kill you,(best debate i've had) ok then. but yes fear is something we human have, but is it fear when you know whats coming, that you understand what's going to happen, a good exaplme is knowing, that knew movie, he new and understood, but he tryed to do something and he new he was going to die, at the end you see many people fearing for there lives, but a couple standing there knowing they wehere goign to die.

Do you mean The Knowing? I saw that movie. However the realization of death, and accepting it does not abolish fear. It simply means you have come to the realization that nothing will change that. We know that the race will live on, but we also see the effects of fear as people turn to the streets and riot. They are going to die and they throw caution to the wind, doing what ever they feel like. This is another effect from fear. The realization that you will die and the sudden attitude "Fuck it I'll do what I want" is -again- driven from fear.

cant say anything bout that, but if you are faced witha lion, and the only way to get away form him is to fight, is that fear if you do?

Hmm.. Well given you have the knowledge of what the animal is and that from basic observation you gather it has sharp claws and teeth -so it eats meat- it has four legs which means it's faster than you who only has two.

Fighting the lion I wouldn't say that's facing your fears. Without the proper tools to fend of the lion you're going to die. You just choose which way to go because you essentially become a cornered wolf as it were. Most people would run due to the chemical reaction from the fight or flight system every human has. If you stay and fight thought.. It'd be quicker death because you wouldn't drag yourself out and then die because the lion caught up to you.

Given that I believe life does actually have a purpose...I don't believe fear drives us.

I believe there is a path for each person...and we can be thrown from this path bygusts of wind. When we are corrupted by feelings of, for instance, fear, we make decisions which may not be ideal for us.

I think human beings are drawn to something...some higher purpose.

    -----------------

Hope need not be an illusion either...you used the example of a cancer patient's decay. They 'hope' and 'pray.' Certainly if someone prays to avoid death, then they are simply deluding themselves...but it does not mean that is the only thing to hope for in that situation.

An afterlife seems like a common hope at a time like that...of which we have no idea whether they deluded themselves or not.

Or what about the 'hope' that the rest of their life is meaningful? Again...we don't know if they deluded themselves.

Hope is not the expectation of something...just because whatever it is they hoped for didn't come to pass, doesn't mean they were 'duped' or jipped out of something. Hope gives strength in dire times...

But hope and happiness may indeed also be 'corruptions' which knock you off of 'the path.'

so why is there religoin? why are there myths?why are there things that make people be higher than others in a sesne? why???

Myths are usually loosely based off of truths. People tend to hear a story and repeat it differently. Ever play the telephone game?

One person picks a phrase in their head. (Oh and you need a good size amount of people. Enough so that you have two teams lined up facing each other.) That person whispers the phrase into the ear of their team mate next to them. Then he/she passes the phrase they heard to the next. And this goes all the way until both teams finished. At the end the last person(s) who received the message say the message out loud and have it confirmed weather what they say is or is not the original message. Typically though some where along the line someone messes up the message and pass along an entirely different one by accident or out -possible- spite.
