Using little on some ocassion is okay, but the usage of too much is not a great idea.....

    Kyuu your worst nightmare.

This is what I think. I don't use makeup, and I'm the only girl on my class who doesn't. Because of that some girls in my school think I'm strange! I just don't get it.
In my opinion it's ok to makeup if you want, except you use it too much.
I know I'd look prettier if I used makeup, but the outer beauty isn't that important for me.

I don't think your strange!:) Your awesome and everyone should treat you in an awesome way. We're alike, just being the only ones that don't wear make up in the class, they think we're weird. But that's no bother.:)

Glad to hear that Kyuuketsuki. :)

Think about it...if you found 30 people who didn't wear make up, and stuck one person with them who does...do you think they're continue wearing it? Eventually they wouldn't... it's a standard psychology paradigm.

They did a study like this:

Take 10 people, 9 of them are 'in on it.' Make the actual subject (remaining person) go last. Hold up a card with a colour on it, let's say it's blue. Have the first 9 people (who are in on it) say with absolute confidence that the card is red.

It's very, very likely, that the 10th person will say it's red also...even though they know it's blue. They may be like "Hmm, maybe I saw it wrong" but whatever the reason is, human beings don't trust their own behaviour and instead rely on others for feedback. It's just how we are.

Of course psychology isn't perfect and only measures trends, but that's how the typical person behaves.

Your example of psychological trends is a good example, but it also depends on the independent variable used in the experiment. Colour on piece of card is very different to someones habit of wearing makeup.

I think using her is fair, cause she is based of Paris Hilton, who is what he is describing

Although London is based on Paris, further into the series she then learns how to be average. This is where similarities with Paris end.

Actually in this case, the cards are a 'dummy variable' and not an independent variable:

The independent variable is whether or not the other 9 people are in the room.

The problem is, psychology measures general trends, and a person may very well defy all psychology...so it certainly can't be a perfect science.

So then you've got to take your beef up with psychology :D (don't worry, I do it all the time...it's got lots of 'grey areas'). In my opinion at least...it's less socially acceptable to deliberately answer a question wrong (and look like you don't know your colours) than it is to wear makeup. They both accomplish the same thing: fitting in.

That's when correlational research comes into play. If wearing makeup and picking the wrong colour have the same underlying cause (social acceptance), then it's valid (at least according to psychology) to make the connection.

    ----------------

Aside: There are plenty of other social acceptance trends and studies done, and for all I know they did a study with makeup (there are a buttload of bored psychologists after all xD). But "Social Psychology" is itself, an area of study...definitely open to skepticism. I'm by no means an expert, I never actually 'took' psychology, and merely sat in on the lectures for interest.
