Dealing with a sunken RP

Just wondering if any of the RP Legends on this site have any advice for reviving sunken RPs?

I've made characters for other peoples' RPs, I've tried making my own RP, and nothing seems to take. I'm afraid if I bump my topic, the double posting police will come and be all "STOP DOUBLE POSTING!"

It's not that I'm impatient or that I didn't put enough effort into my characters / RP... I think I posted more background info than most topics... but I just, I dunno. I've seen this enough times to know it won't get off the ground if I just leave it...1 Day ago turns to 1 Week ago, turns to 1 Month ago and beyond.

I suppose I can't do anything about anyone else's RP, but in my own RP it seems like it lacks interest? A few people posted saying they will complete their profiles later but haven't checked in the meantime...how do I avoid excessive cases of this?

It just seems like I'm doing something wrong, since it's so consistent (ie. everything I post in zombifies, haha)...and frankly I have better things to do with my time than sit here and watch a dead RP, just praying someone will look at it haha.

    Any advice?

Yea. read my thread, failures. I think it'll tell you why there are dead rp's. Me & Ninjy was at it, but I don't mind reviving a dying rp.

I suppose I should correct myself.

It's not so much that the RP has been dead for a long time, I moreso want it to keep from getting to the point where it's declared dead. I've tried everything, I've prescribed the storyline, I've been intentionally vague to allow for more interactive story-telling (Maybe I'm just cursed or something)...I've even tried telling people they can do whatever they want...

Just hoping someone can give me some advice...and if not, I suppose I'll quit while I'm behind S:

Well for yours, I suppose the only thing to do is advertise it in you signature. And PM people. And PM whomever said they would fill out a profile but haven't yet.

PMing isn't considered hassling? I was under the impression it would annoy people.

You sure it isn't 'bad etiquette' and/or selfish?

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

well if you continue to bug them then yeah but one little PM would fine. i've done that on other sites and gotten a reply saying they forgot or something then in a few minutes they'd go post what they said. one PM would be ok.

PS: i kinda didn't like the story idea or i would've joined yours.

What didn't you like, if you don't mind my asking?

Actually, it's not that it didn't have it, I just left it open to the participants to decide.

I don't know. Personally, I hate PMing people about RPs.

Well technically no one really does. It always feels like I'm harassing people about it so I usually leave it to Amy to PM people about RPs unless it has to come from me but this kinda isn't about that subject oops we're getting off topic.

Anyway there really is nothing one can do about it sometimes. If you let people with short attention spans join your RP then chances are your RP is going to die. What I find most useful is to keep people's interest in it. Advertise it in your siggy or avy, make a vid about it, get the guts to actually PM people about it (I know it sucks but sometimes you have to), etc... the options are endless.

Sometimes RPs just dont work on specific forums. I know I've tried the same RP on two different forums and one forum took it better than the other did. I've learned to put some of my more good vs. evil rps here and my more emo or deep plots on Quizilla and my more random RPs on Theocarina. It's just the conflicting personalities of what users join what forum. Maybe if it didn't work here, try it on a different RP forum.

And of course there is always the option to let it die and then reset it.

To add to Hope, if your trhead dies do not bump, there is one and only one way mods(or at least me) will look away from a bump and it's f you have a strong reason for leaving teh site a while such as vacation, accident or graduation, so on. You must PM moderators(usually I handle a lot of stuff here in RP, so best guess to PM is probaly me if not Oath or Kairu will do fine as well) explaining why you're going to bump the thread and have a good reason. Wait for the green light from us though.

Should we just have a limit as to how many rp's that we can be in or just have a reply from someone that they is not interested in the rp anymore than to just keep on trying to keep on trying so hard to make a rp come right back from two to four weeks? That would be better I think than to just dealing with it so much. I don't mind bringing back a rp or getting a pm about a rp. Also, I think that from what Hope says is true too. Some rp's is better on another site than here.

Well it should be up to the RP creator if he or she wants to keep it alive to Pm everyone about the RP. As for the limit, you can be in as many RP's as you want, however if you know you can't handle it don't sign up for so many.
