Kingdom Hearts: Missing Key to Guidance​

Prologue​

In Radiant Gardens, the sky was filled with clouds, signaling a storm was brewing. Leon, a resident there, stood outside of a small Moogle shop. “Looks like we’re going to have a storm,” he said coldly. A woman dressed as a ninja walked out of the Moogle shop. “Oh Squall, why do you look so gloom, we need the rain for the plants. Or do you want them to die?” asked the ninja. Leon scoffed and replied, “Stop calling me that, you know I don’t like it Yuffie. Besides, I know we need the rain, I just don’t like is all.”

Rain began to fall with heavy thuds as it hit the ground. Leon and Yuffie began to go inside where it was warm. Inside a girl dressed in pink awaited them with tea in her hand. “Heya Aerith, oooh tea,” said Yuffie in a greedy manner. Aerith smiled and gave Leon and Yuffie some tea. “I’m glad you two came in,” Aerith stated. “It was beginning to look bad outside.” Yuffie nodded in agreement.

A loud crash of thunder boomed through the world. The lights went out in the house as the group sat in darkness. Leon got up and said, “I’ll go get Cid to turn on the emergency back up generator.” He walked out the door and went to a shop nearby. He went in and saw a man yelling at his computer. “Dang it you darn computer! Why ain’t you workin?” Leon walked over and said, “What seems to be the problem Cid?” Cid turned to Leon and said, “Leon I ain’t seen nothing like it before, the whole world has gone down! We are stuck in the dark basically!”

Leon put his hand on his chin and began to think. “Hmmmm……..this storm couldn’t be the source for all this mess. Something must be goin-” Leon was cut off short when he heard a scream. He ran outside and saw hundreds of Heartless and Nobodies. “Heartless and Nobodies? What are they doing here?” Leon questioned. He drew his Gunblade from his back and attacked the Heartless and Nobodies. A heinous laugh came from behind Leon. Leon heard the laugh but reacted too slow. He turned around and was quickly forced back into the Heartless.

He looked up to see a hooded man. The man looked down at Leon and said, “Where is the Key Bearer?” Leon could hardly hear him but replied, “You mean Sora?” The man laughed and said, “Not that pathetic boy. The NEW Key Bearer.”

Chapter 1: Wake up Call​

It was 7:45 in the morning in Twilight Town. Children and teenagers were getting ready to go to school, for it was the first day. Everyone was getting ready, all except for two boys. Darius lay in his bed still asleep from a long night when his cell phone rang. He jumped up from surprise and saw his phone. He answered saying, “Uh…..hello?” From the other end of the phone came screaming from a teenage boy. “Dude, Darius, man I overslept! You’re at school right? Have I missed anything?” Darius looked around and realized he was still in his room. He screamed back, “No! Oh damn it, look; I’ll meet you at school Jordan.”

He hung up the phone and ran to his dresser. He heard his mother yelling up at him, “Darius if you’re late to school on the first day-” Darius yelled back, “Yeah I know, I’ll be grounded.” After finding something to wear he ran down the steps and ate his bacon and eggs as fast as he could. “Jesus Darius! You’re going to be late,” his mother said. Darius chuckled and said, “See ya mom.” He ran out the door and ran to school. After ten minutes he arrived just when the bell rang.

He sighed with relief as he just managed to make it in. As Darius made his way to class, Jordan caught up with him. “Hey Darius. Looks like we both made it, huh buddy,” Jordan said smiling. Darius looked at Jordan and said, “You were here this morning when you called me weren’t you?” Jordan smiled and said, “Well since you’re a straight A student, you couldn’t miss school now could you?” The two laughed as they proceeded to their class. The day went on with the two going to classes and switching to other classes. And soon it was lunch. The two meted each other at the lunch hall. Jordan would buy his lunch, which included a bologna sandwich, while Darius had brought his lunch, which included a turkey sandwich.

As they sat at an unoccupied table, they exchanged sandwiches and laughed. In the corner of Jordan’s eye, he saw two girls coming into the lunch hall. The girls stood on the opposite side of Jordan and Darius’ table. One girl asked, “Hey, can we sit here?” Before Darius could reply Jordan said, “It’s a free country.” The two girls sat down at the table. One girl reached her hand across the table to Jordan and said, “I’m Rachael.” Jordan shook her hand and replied, “I’m Jordan. Pleasure to meet ya.” The other girl shyly said to Darius, “I’m Jennifer.” Darius replied in a low tone, “Darius.”

Jordan paid no attention to Darius’ shyness and said to Rachael, “So, you guys new around here?” Before she could answer two large boys, in their senior year, walked over to the group. One of the boys had red hair and a scar on his arm, his name was Buster. The other was blonde and was a bit heavy like, his name was Barry. The two played football at the school and were considered to be the two biggest jerks in school. The two went to Rachael and Jennifer. Buster stood next to Jennifer and said, “Hey cutie, why you messing with these to losers?” Barry went to Rachael and said, “Yeah, you two could be hanging with us.”

Jordan and Darius stood up. “Maybe because they got good judgment with boys,” Darius said. Barry walked over to Darius and shoved him to the ground saying, “Then they’ve never met men before.” Jordan rushed over to Barry and punched him in the nose. Buster ran over to Jordan in hopes to run him over but failed when Darius tripped him. In moments, the four began fighting. Jordan fought Buster while Darius fought Barry. But in an instance, a flash of light came from Darius’ hand when he punched Barry. Everyone just thought it was his watch shining in the light but Darius knew better. The same thing happened to Jordan when he punched Buster but with darkness. He had punched Buster in his chest so Buster collapsed onto the floor.

Darius and Jordan looked at each other and ran out the lunch hall. The two girls looked at the knocked out boys then ran after Darius and Jordan.

 

Chapter 2: Destiny Choosing​

Jordan and Darius ran into the empty computer lab. They were out of breath at that point so they both sat down on the ground. Jordan turned to Darius and said, “What the hell happened out there Darius?!” Darius yelled, “How the hell should I know? I know as much as you do at this point.” The two girls rushed in the room and saw the boys on the ground. Jennifer went next to Darius and asked, “Did they hurt you? Are you ok? What happened out there?” Darius just chuckled and said, “They didn’t hurt me too bad, I’ve been better, and I don’t know.”

Jordan stood up and said, “When I fought Buster, I had the urge to just kill him.” Rachael grabbed his arm and said, “C’mon, you shouldn’t be thinking like that.” Jordan sat back down and held the hand that had given Buster the deafening blow. He chuckled and said, “What do we do now?” The room grew silent. The two boys, who were trying to defend two innocent girls, are now in serious trouble.

Jordan got up and said, “Well Darius, let’s take our punishment like men!” Darius nodded and also got up. As the group proceeded to the door the lights in the building went out. “What the hell,” Jordan mumbled. Jennifer quickly clenched to Darius’ arm in hopes of protection. Jordan turned to the three and said, “No worries, it’s probably a maintenance problem.” Scraping sounds could be heard outside the door and the four quickly backed up. “Yup, maintenance problem alright,” Darius said in a sarcastic manner. Jordan looked at Darius then at the door.

Without seconds notice, Jordan kicked down the door. Jennifer almost screamed until she realized that nothing was there. “See? Nothing to worry abo-” Jordan was cut off when down the hall small black creatures appeared from the shadows. Jordan looked at them and whispered back to the group, “Darius get the girls out of here.” “But what about you,” was Darius’ reply? Jordan put his hand in his face and said, “No questions asked. Just go!” The shadow creatures scurried down the hallway towards the group.

Jordan kicked the first one he saw, making it go flying backwards. Jordan chuckled and said, “This is pretty easy!” But, to his surprise, the creature he previously attacked quickly got up and lunged itself at Jordan. It used its claws to scratch at Jordan’s chest. Jordan yelled in fear as he tried to force the creature off of him proving no avail. Darius ran over to Jordan and pushed the creature off of him. He helped Jordan up as the two grabbed the girls and ran down the hallway. “What the hell are those things,” Jordan yelled. Darius shook his head and said, “How the hell should I know?!” Suddenly, Rachael fell to the ground and the creatures quickly jumped onto her, trying to scratch at her heart.

The group turned around to see the creatures swarming on Rachael’s body. Jordan yelled out, “Rachael!” Without thinking about it Jordan ran toward the creatures at full speed while Darius screamed, “Jordan what are you doing?!” Jordan ignored him and continued to the creatures. A flash of light blinded everyone in the room. When the light disappeared, Jordan was wielding the Oblivion Keyblade. He looked at it for a brief second then muttered, “Cool……….” He looked at the creatures and then and the mysterious giant key before running towards the creatures and swinging the blade at them.

“Grrrrrrrr, time for you shadow beings to go back to where you came,” he yelled as he slashed the creatures. After defeating the creatures that were swarming on Rachael, Jordan helped her up and said, “Are you alright?” She smiled and replied, “Yeah.” Jordan nodded and said, “Then let’s get out of here.” The four turned around to see a hooded figure. “You’re with them aren’t you,” Jordan asked cautiously. The man laughed and said, “With them? Foolish boy, I CONTROL them.” In the blink of an eye the man threw Jordan to the wall hard. Jordan fell on the ground with a loud thud. Rachael ran over to him and cried, “Jordan!”

The man laughed and said to the near unconscious Jordan, “I’ve traveled a long way to find you Key Bearer.” Another flash of light appeared then disappeared. The man seemed confused although his face was still covered. He turned around to see Darius wielding the Kingdom Key. “What?! Two Key Bearers,” the man exclaimed. “I don’t know what that is, but don’t ever mess with my friends,” was Darius’ reply before using the blade to hit the man in the side. The man only backed up a little bit before laughing. “Do you two honestly believe you can’t defeat me,” he asked. Jordan got up and stood next to Darius. “Maybe not just them alone, but with some help we’ll defeat you,” exclaimed an unknown voice.

With that being said, a Gummi ship came crashing through the school. A mouse and a boy came out of the Gummi ship. Before the hooded man could respond to the action, the mouse hopped into the air and engaged in combat with the man. “Sora, get these kids out of here,” the mouse exclaimed. Sora replied, “But your majesty!” “I’ll hold him off, just go,” the mouse replied. The mouse moved his right hand back then snapped it forward. And when that happened a Keyblade appeared in his hand. “Whoa,” Jordan said, chuckling a bit.

Sora began to get the group of four kids in the ship and quickly took off, leaving the royal mouse and the hooded man to do combat.

Chapter 3: The Missing Key​

Sora had commandeered the Gummi ship, due to Goofy and Donald’s absence. There was silence on the ship. Jordan laid on a seat, still a bit injured from the attack of the hooded man. While Darius sat next to Jennifer, holding her hand in an attempt to comfort her. After about ten minutes of absolute silence Jordan finally said, “Um ok, first off who are you? Second, what the hell happened back there? Some little black things attack us, I get a giant key, some weird guy attacks me, my friend over here gets a giant key, then you and an abnormal sized mouse come and HE’S got a giant key!”

Sora just replied, “Wow you’re impatient. Ok then, I’m Sora. And your names would be?” Rachael replied, “I’m Rachael, the girl in the dress is Jennifer, the quiet boy is Darius, and the boy you’ve just spoken to is Jordan.” Sora smiled and said, “Pleasure to meet you four. What was your second question again?” Sora thought about it for a few seconds before saying, “Oh yeah I remember now! Hmmmm, how should I put this? Well, the creatures that attacked you are called Heartless, that “abnormal sized mouse” is King Mickey, and the guy who attacked you is-” He was interrupted when Darius said, “What about these giant keys? What are they? And what are Heartless?”

Sora sighed deeply. “It’s a long story.” Darius smirked and said, “I got time.” Sora sighed once more and said, “Fine. Heartless are creatures that form from the darkness in people’s hearts. Once the heart leaves the body, a Heartless is formed. As for your “giant keys” they are called Keyblades. The Keyblade chooses a wielder due to their heart. If someone had a heart with a lot of light in it, they might be chosen like I was.” There was long silence in the room. “Well where is your Keyblade then,” asked Jordan. Sora went silent.
“It’s here,” he said soft spoken. “Well where,” Darius asked now impatient. Sora set the ship to auto pilot, turned around to Darius and said, “You have it.” Darius looked shocked. “M-m-me? How do I have your Keyblade?” Sora replied, “The king says it’s because the Keyblade has to shift momentarily in order for us to find the key.” Jordan summoned his Keyblade and said, “Here it is!” Sora shook his head, “No Jordan, this key is a lot more important.” Sora turned his seat back around a commanded the ship again. Rachael turned to Jordan and said, “What is that guy talking about?” Jordan shrugged and said, “I don’t know, but wherever he’s taking us might have some answers.”

Moments later, the ship landed in a big open courtyard with large hedges. Behind the courtyard lied a large castle. “Whoa,” Darius said in disbelief. “Welcome to the king’s castle,” Sora exclaimed. “I guess he isn’t just an abnormal sized mouse after all,” Jordan muttered. Sora led the group to the castle where two figures stood in front of the entrance. “Donald, Goofy,” Sora yelled in a happy tone. The two saw their friend approaching and said in unison, “Sora!” The three ran towards each other and hugged. “Donald and Goofy, this is Jordan, Darius, Jennifer, and Rachael,” Sora said. Donald and Goofy again spoke in unison, “Hello Jordan, Darius, Jennifer, and Rachael!” Darius and Jordan both just ignored the reunion and walked into the castle.

The two walked down a hallway until they noticed large doors to their right. “Dare we,” Jordan asked. “Let’s,” Darius replied. They opened a smaller door on the large doors and went inside. They had entered another hallway like room but with a throne at the end. Jordan ran over to the throne and sat on it as Darius just laughed as he walked down the hallway. “Nice huh? Suits me pretty well,” Jordan said. Darius laughed and said, “Oh great king! Hahaha!” Jordan put his hands on the arms of the throne and felt a switch. Unknowingly to Darius, he pressed the switch making the throne move a bit backwards.

“What the hell did you do Jordan,” Darius asked. “I found some secret steps that’s what,” Jordan said. The two boys looked down at where the throne originally was and saw a secret staircase leading somewhere to a lower level. Darius walked down the steps which leaded in Jordan following him. As the reached the lower level they saw a large glowing orb like thing sitting in the middle of the room like a crystal ball. “That thing is beautiful,” Darius said. “What is it,” Jordan asked.

A mysterious voice came from behind the two saying, “The Cornerstone of Light. It will help us find the key foolish boys.”
