The Dawn of Midnight: A co-authored story by KeyofHope777(Magilicudy) and Legendseeker.

    Chapter 1- The Beginning

It's funny how something as simple as the flap of a butterfly wing...
can change the fates of all creatures.

This is a very common and well thought out saying about time a space. But what about Dimentions?
A wise but foolish man once asked himself this very question. His name was Professor Theo and he once wrote that for every desision a man makes, a different life would have been made for that man. For every choice he could have taken there is annother life called a dimention that lives the way it would have had other desisoins been made. This was his classification of a Dimention.
He grew very facinated with the idea of this and he searched and studied far and wide to find out more about these other words all made of the same people but different lives. He never even thought of the danger that could have come from his discovaries... until it was too late.
One night while researching the true complexity of dementions with the use of an artifact called the Mirror of the Twilight. It was by total accident when he broke a shard off of the mirror and created a complete copy of the mirror but more powerful. This mirror was the door to all different dimentions: millions of different dimentions all connected to one mirror. It was only then did the professor realize the true danger behind his discovary and how if it got into the wrong hands that it could mean chaos and possible distruction for all of them. He tried to destroy his creation but it was too late. A dark and powerful godly being attacked the professor and killed him before stealing the mirror in the hopes of using it to enhance his own power. The goddesses interviened at the last moment and they took the mirror and locked the evil being away in a mortal body. They then took the mirror and named it the Mirror of the Midnight being the only artifact that could truly bring to pass darkness and mayhem throughout all of Hyrule in every different dimention.
Now, generations later that being has been through much and has made many new enemies and he will now seek the aid of the Mirror of Midnight once again. But this time for one reason: Revenge.

"Jacob!" someone called cheerfully through the crowd of music and people speaking. Jacob recognised her voice instantly and turned around to see Abby weaving through the crowd toward him, every step she took seemed like an effortless and beautiful dance to Jacob. She looked so perfect, he wondered if even the goddesses could compare to her Abby's beauty sometimes and especially tonight. She had really dressed up for tonight and as she got closer the distinct smell of jasmine entered his sences. He still felt nervous whenever she was around. "Hey Abby." he said with a grin.
Abby blushed a little as a new song started. "I was just wondering if you wanted to dance." she said, her sweet smile never left her expression and despite the fact that Jacob knew he wasn't that much of a dancer he took her hand and lead her out onto the floor anyway.

Menwhile, in the temple of Time three people in hoods stood in front of a massive door, their swords were drawn, ready for a fight. "Do you think that he will really come?" the one on the left asked.
"Do you really think all of us having the same dream was an accident?" Said the person standing on the left in a female voice.
"Ashei is quite right. He will come for the mirror. We have to protect it. That's what the goddesses were trying to tell us." said the tallest one standing in the center.
The one on the left nodded "I just hope it doesn't come down to fighting..." he took off his hood. Shad sighed "It just seems like if this was really this important Jacob or Link would have been called. Maybe even Queen Zelda..."
Ashei removed her hood as well but she didn't take her eyes off of the door where whoever it was they were waiting for would come. "It doesn't matter. Maybe Zelda, Link and Jacob are already busy with a more important mission. All I know is that I know what I saw and knowing what I know I couldn't just let this happen."
Auru nodded "This is what we have been waiting for is it not? A way to help protect Hyrule from evil."
Shad nodded and tightened his grip on his sword "You're right."
Suddenly a cold laugh echoed through the entire room. "You foolish children. It was so easy to fool you into comming here." Auru and the others all looked around but saw no sorce for the voice. "Who are you! Show yourself!" Ashei cried, remembering all of the skills her father taught her, she was ready to fight. But she wasn't expecting what happened next.
A man cloaked completely in black appeared behind Shad and before anyone could do anything about it ran his blade through his heart from behind. "Shad!" Ashei and Auru cried as their friend fell to his knees, clutching his chest in agony.
The man pulled his sword from Shad and then turned to Auru and Ashei "It would have been so much more difficult if one of your friends came to stop me. It's so much more fun when you can fool even the goddesses themselves to find prey instead of an actual challenge to guard the key to my revenge."
Auru glared and readied his sword "You will not pass us." he said firmly. Ashei nodded "And you will pay for what you have done to Shad." sheagreed as she suddenly charged forward and swung at him with her blade with all her might. The strange enemy feighted to the left and then kicked her aside. Ashei caught herself with her hands before she would have hit the wall and Auru attacked the strange enemy while he was distracted with Ashei. He managed to get a small scrape across his arm but this only angered the enemy and he grabbed Auru about the throat and threw him to the ground with one hand. Auru gasped for breath when the enemy let him go. Ashei tried a roundhouse kick to his head but the cloaked enemy grabbed her leg and threw her very hard. Ashei hit the wall with a crash and fell to the ground motionless. Auru was worried about her and Shad but he didn't have time to make sure they were ok. It was only him alone standing in the way of evil getting the Mirror of the Midnight now. Auru centered his emotions with a deep breath before he took a defensive stance and stood again in between the strange enemy and the door to the chamber of Midnight. "You will not pass." he repeated more firmly.
The stranger chuckled darkly and a strange red power appeared in the palm of his hand "Watch me." he said mockingly before he threw himself at Auru. Auru raised his sword to defend himself but the strange enemy brought up his hand covered in red magic against the steel of Auru's blade and the sword broke into shards which scattered about the ground at their feet.
Auru looked down at the destroyed remains of his sword and then back up into the blood red eyes of his apponent. 'I have failed' he thought to himself in despair 'and I have brought Ashei and Shad down with me...'
that was his last thoughts before the strange enemy brought the handle of his sword hard against the temple of Auru's head and Auru was knocked out and fell to the ground, his world faided to black.
Dark stood over the bodies of his three fallen enemies. He didn't know if they were alive or dead nor did he care. They were no threat to him and now that they weren't moving they were not in his way either. He stepped over Auru's body and put his blood stained sword away as he walked through the door and entered the Chamber of Midnight "My time is soon..." he thought to himself triumphantly.

    "Hey Link?..."
"Hmm?" Link lay on his back across the sun warmed grass at Farore Spring chewing absently on a sprout of grain. His brother, Celton sat next to him both of them carefree as they stared out into the horizon. To Celton he was glad that all of these adventures were finally over even now the thought of some of the things he had done even if it was for the sake of Hyrule haunted his dreams.
Link on the other hand was also glad that he and his family could finally live a happy normal life but there was part of him deep inside that felt like the adventures weren't over... not even close. He didn't say anything to Seya, Celton, or Destiny because he didn't want to worry them but still something didn't seem right to him.
Celton continued talking, oblivious to the insicurity that was raging in his brother's mind. "Do you ever think that maybe if Ganondorf hadn't have created Dark Link inside your heart then things would have been different?"
Link glared "What do you mean?"
Celton shrugged "Well... I dont know but thats why Destiny and I got dragged into this triforce fight is because you were being controlled by your dark side and.."
Link nodded and interrupted him "Yes I have thought about it too. That maybe The Village wouldn't have been burned down and that Harone would still be alive. Yes I have wondered what it would have been like." he said though he didn't seem that comfortable talking about it. He looked away "I've also considered how things would have changed if Ilia hadn't have moved away when we were children. Or if Zelda had been able to prove that Ganondorf killed her mother before it was too late." he shrugged "but you cant stay thinking about 'what ifs' too long because that only brings pain and regret."
Celton nodded "Yes... I suppose you're right." he said distantly.
Link could tell that his brother was upset so he changed the subject. He grinned "So have you asked Destiny out yet?" he asked playfully.
Celton looked shocked and alarmed "What?" he said, looking at his brother with wide eyes.
Link laughed "You really should get to stepping on that before someone else does bro."
Celton blushed a little and looked amused but impatient "Easy for YOU to say. You aren't the one who actally has to go through it."
Link winked "Yeah but it's not like I would be too scared to do it like you."
Celton laughed, "Hey!" He pushed Link back suddenly into the wather "Who is scared now." he said with a triumphant laugh as Link stood up caughing and shaking water out of his hair. Link laughed "You should be!" he said as he suddenly tackled Celton. The two brothers laughed as they wrestled across the grass, both trying to gain an advantage over the other. Celton picked up a stick under one of the trees and swung it at Link but Link had already seen Celton's idea and had also picked up a stick about the same size (size of swords duh) and the battle was on. Both of them taunting the other as they battled with wooden swords like they did long ago when they were children playing save the princess with Destiny.

Ashei woke up slowly, feeling very dizzy and her vision was blurry from the head damage she had taken. She sat up unsteadily and saw Shad and Auru laying on the ground still in front of her. Fearing the worst she first ran up to Shad "Shad..." she said breathlessly as she knelt next to her fallen friend. Shad looked up at her, looking weak and pale. Ashei knew that look that was on his face right now she saw it once before just before she watched her father die. "...A... ash..."
Tears wet Ashie's eyes "Shad Dont talk It will be ok I promise." she said as she looked around despeately for some way to heal him. If only Auru was conciuos or Telma was here. They would know what to do.
"Ashei listen to me." Shad said breathlessly. "He..." he had to caugh before he continued talking "He went in after the mirror. Ashei you're the only one that can stop him now. Hurry before he gets stronger with the power of the mirror. Call for help and take him by surprise before it's too late."
Ashei shook her head "Shad I'm not leaving you and Auru here." she said sorrowfully. "We dont have any other option." Shad said weakly. He gasped once more and then his body went limp, his vision faided away, the last thing he saw was the look of deturmination in Ashei's face as she stood and took up her sword.
Ashei looked down at the bairley living body of Shad "I will not fail you again." she said before she ran through the door of the Chamber of Midnight after the one who would hope to acquire it's power.

The song ended and Jacob took Abby's hand again and the two of them walked off of the floor. Abby pushed her hair away from her face. It was getting very hot and Jacob could tell she was uncomfotable. "Are you alright?" he asked her.
Abby nodded "I just need to get some fresh air." she said reassuringly.
Jacob nodded and the two of them walked outside together. Night was falling over the treetops and the stars seemed to shine even brighter than ever tonight. Jacob found he was hardly as worried about the darkness inside him or the journeys he still knew he had to come. All he could think about was how good it felt to walk hand in hand with Abby and to be able to look up at the stars with her while all those he loved and worked hard to protect were happy and safe inside.
"It's a really beautiful night. Sometimes when I look at those stars I think that well that someday everything here will be as bright and happy as those stars look through even the darkest of nights you know."
Jacob nodded "Yeah." he agreed absently, he put his arm around her waist and the two of them sat there on the railing of the fence and just looked up at the sky together. Jacob couldn't remember a time in the past few years that he had felt as happy and peaceful as now.

Queen Zelda paced in the throne room anxiously. Impa came up to her and put a hand on her sholder "Zelda please, tell me what's wrong."
Zelda shrugged "I dont know... I just feel like somethings wrong. Like there is a threat to Hyrule comming that I should have seen comming sooner."
Impa sighed "Just calm down please. You are going to give yourself a heart attack. I'm sure you would have recieved some warning if something was wrong right?"
Zelda paused but then shook her head "... I dont know Impa. I really hope you're right. But I just dont know..."

Dark grinned as he heard footsteps behind him. "You're too slow little girl." he said as Ashei ran into the chamber. Dark was already standing on the altar of the mirror.
Ashei gasped as she saw the shards of the mirror of Midnight scattered about the ground. It's dark aura gathered into an orb that hovered slightly above the ground and then flew at Dark and into his chest. The Dark aura covered his body and Dark grinned triumphantly. "You have already lost." he said with a laugh as he shot a bolt of lightning at Ashei from his hand. Ashei dropped her sword and flew against the opposite wall. Her body slumped to the ground and Ashei tried to push herself up but she felt very weak. Dark walked toward her "Dont worry, I wont kill you. I have better plans for you. Go return home now and tell your dear queen that I have returned and tell her to tell Din, Nayru, and Farore that the true god of Hyrule is comming home."
he then used his magic to make her dissapear. Her unconsious body appeared again in Telmas Bar.

    Chapter 2: Intervention

"Okay, bye! Thank you for coming!” Telma said, waving at her last customers for the day. She was anxious to get them out of there. The Group was meeting up, and she didn’t want anyone over-hearing them.
She turned to walk from the door when a knock came. Telma opened the door back. “Listen. We’re closed. Now you have three seconds to…”
Rusl smiled. “What, I’m not welcomed anymore?”
Telma was surprised. “Rusl? Don’t you have a Dance to go look after?” she stepped aside to let Rusl enter. He stepped through the threshold, taking his cloak off. Outside, rain fell hard onto the city.
“Well, our dear Link is there. So I decided to come see the Group. See how you guys are handling Hyrule.” he sat down at a table while Telma went and got them drinks. When she sat back down with him, they started talking.
“It hasn’t really been any different,” Telma started. “We got something down at in the Gerudo Desert. Remember the Arbiters Tower?” Rusl nodded. “Well, it collapsed around a week ago. Just collapsed out of nowhere. There were signs of battle as well, but we couldn’t find any casualties.”
Rusl shook his head, then looked around the bar. “So where are the others?”
Telma took a drink. “Apparently, they went to check something at the Temple of Time. They wouldn’t tell me. But they should be back here soon.” Just then, a bright light flashed in the bar. Telma dropped her drink and Rusl jumped up, drawing his sword. When the light subsided, Telma saw Ashei lying on the floor. She was covered in blood and had a fearful look on her face.
“Ashei!” Rusl exclaimed, sheathing his sword and rushing to her side. He picked Ashei up into a sitting position. Telma grabbed some rags and began to clean her up.
“Gotta find Zelda. Gotta find Zelda. Gotta find Zelda.” she kept mumbling, her eyes darting left and right, searching for some invisible predator.
“Ashei, what’s wrong?” Rusl asked her. Ashei looked at him.
“Gotta find Zelda.” she just replied. Rusl helped her stand up and walked her over to a table.
“Telma, look over her. I’m going to go get Zelda and bring her over here. Maybe she can tell what is going on.” Telma nodded and sat down beside Ashei. What did you see Ashei?

    ***

“Come out and play!” Dark shouted, standing in the empty chamber. He was in the Sacred Realm, after the Goddess’. He felt wind sweep past him and he smiled.
“Farore. Nice to see you.” he commented, turning towards the Goddess of Courage. She had a faint green aura surrounding her, her dress swirling around her feet.
“Why are you here?” another voice said. Dark looked to the right to see Nayru appearing there.
“What? Can’t I come and see my favorite people in the world?” he asked sarcastically. Something blasted into his back. He straightened up and turned to find Din holding her arm out to him.
“Really Din? Is that necessary?” he laughed, drawing his sword.
“Listen Ka-” Dark sent a blast of magic at Din, causing her to teleport beside her sisters.
“Don’t call me that.” Dark whispered. He closed his eyes and focused his energy onto the Mirror inside of him. Darkness surrounded him, giving him strength. Dark smiled.
“Let it be known that on this day, Hyrule gains a true god.” he launched himself at the Goddess’. And the battle was on.

    ***

Celton laughed at his brother. “Link, it’s great having you back.”
Link looked over at his brother. They had just gotten done play-fighting, now they sat at the spring. “It feels great to be back.”
“Link! Celton!” a voice shouted. Celton turned his head to see Destiny come bounding out of the woods. “Hey! There’s a storm coming this way. We might want to head home.”
Link looked up at the sky. Sure enough, dark clouds were beginning to form around them. “Yeah. I guess you’re right Destiny.” Link commented, standing up. Lighting flashed, but it was a strange kind of lighting. It was red.
“Red lighting?” Celton asked, looking at Link, who shrugged. Another lighting strike came crashing into the earth, this time it was green.
“That’s weird.” Link said. Inside of him, he felt something strange tugging at his soul. He ignored it and turned to his brother and Destiny. “Let’s get out of here.”

    ***

“Hello queen.” Rusl said, bowing in front of Zelda. Zelda nodded her head.
“Rusl. It is great to see you.” Rusl stood up. He looked in a hurry. Impa, being ever so clever, made the excuse of going to get drinks so they could talk. When she walked out, Rusl turned to Zelda.
“Listen. Telma and I were in her bar, waiting on the rest of The Group when a light flashed. When it disappeared, Ashei was there with us. She was covered in blood and kept saying that she need to see you.”
Zelda looked worried. “Okay. Let’s go.
They walked up to the bar. When Zelda walked in, a glass came flying through the air and nearly hit Zelda in the head. She ducked it and it smashed against the wall.
“Ashei! Calm down!” Telma shouted. Ashei was up against the wall, fear in her eyes.
“I can’t! Don’t you see! He will kill me!” Ashei screamed. She had a broomstick in her hand.
Zelda slowly stepped forward. “Ashei. It’s me, Zelda. You needed to see me?” Ashei looked at Zelda, then began to cry.
“Please help me.” Ashei whispered. That one whisper put fear into Zelda’s heart. What kind of evil can put such fear into this brave woman’s heart?
“Ashei, I want to help you. But you need to tell me. What is it that is scaring you?” Ashei looked her in the eyes.
“His eyes. I looked into his eyes. Those blood red eyes.” Ashei collapsed to the floor and busted out crying. Zelda stopped and stared down at her. Blood red eyes… Oh no. Zelda turned to Rusl.
“Get me the fastest messenger you can find and bring him to me. Now.” Rusl nodded and went out the door.
If it is who I think it is, then may the Goddess’ help us all.

In Ordon, the older Link leaned against a tree, watching his son dance the night away.
“Hello mate.” someone said. Link turned his head to find Joey walking up to him.
“Hello Joey.” Link said, shaking his hand. Joey stood next to him.
“Listen Link. A messenger just arrived. Says he came from Castle Town.” Link looked at him.
“All the way from there? He would have had to run pretty fast.” Joey nodded.
“Apparently he did. He says Queen Zelda wishes to see you and Jacob immediately.” Link looked out at his son, dancing and having a good time.
“Can it wait until after the Dance?”
Joey thought it over. “Honestly mate, I have no clue. But you know how the Queen is.”
Link laughed. “That I do. Alright, I’ll get Jacob. Joey, can you go with? We could use an Honor Guard with us.”
Joey nodded. “Happy to mate.” Link walked over to Jacob.
“Jacob.” Link’s son turned to him. Link saw he was dancing with Abby. “Can I talk to you?” Jacob nodded and walked over with Link to the edge of the forest.
“Look, Zelda wants to see us. What for, I don’t know. But we gotta leave out now.”
    Jacob sighed. “Are you sure?”
“Joey says that a messenger ran all the way from Castle Town to get us. It must be important.” Jacob nodded.
“You’re right. We should go.” Above them, a storm gathered. The lighting emitting from it was green, red, and blue.

    ***

Farore slammed onto the ground, hard. Dark stood over her, his sword raised.
“You see!? Only the true god can rule over Hyrule. You’re just an excuse for one.” he brought his sword down, but it was blocked by Din’s power. Dark pushed it back at Din, causing her to slam into a pillar. He sent a ball of power at Din, which should have killed her.
Farore jumped in front of it. She managed to send some of it back at Dark, but took the hit for the rest of it. She fell to the ground as Dark was blasted back. He picked himself up.
“See you later.” he said, then teleported away. Farore looked up at her sisters, wounded. Her head collapsed on the ground.

    ***

They were almost home when Link felt the oddest thing. He felt as if his power was stripped from him. He fell to the ground on his knees. Celton turned around and ran back to his side.
    “Link!” he shouted.
In the other dimension, they were just about to leave when the older Link fell to the ground as well. His face was scrunched up in pain.
“Father!” Jacob shouted, rushing to his side. Link looked up at the sky.
“It feels like my power has been taken from me.” Jacob looked at Joey, who shrugged. Jacob looked back at his father.
    What could have done this?

    Chapter 3: Fading Courage

"Come on, Mate, lets get you home." He said as he reached down to help Link up. Link looked very pale and more weak than usual. Jacob nodded in agreement with Joey "Where is Zelda, Joey?"
Joey looked at Jacob "She was waiting by the bridge for us to come to her." he said.
Link spoke, his voice was strained slightly with pain, his teeth clenched together. "Whatever she came for must be important. We should go to her."
Joey shook his head "Are you crazy mate. You look like you're going to pass out right here and now. You're in no condition to travel."
Jacob nodded "He's right father." he said thoughtfully "But Zelda is."
he looked at Joey "Take father back home and I'll go get Zelda to come to us."
Jacob and Link nodded and they started walking back to the village, Link had to use Joey for support because he felt too weak to walk on his own.
Jacob didn't take the time to watch them leave. 'What could have done this?' he thought to himself as he took off running toward the bridge where Queen Zelda was waiting but something deep inside told him that he already knew the answer. He just really hoped he was wrong.

"Farore please wake up." Nayru pleaded with her sister in vain. She and Din had tried everything to heal their sister for nearly a half hour but to no avail. Whatever the magic was that Dark had used to injure Farore in the first place was counteracting any magic that the other two tried to use to heal her.
Din shook her head hopelessly "As long as she is weakened so will be the Triforce of Courage." she said, devistated. Usually glowing Triforce symbol on the backs of all three of their right hands faided and the Courage symbol was hardly visible at all.
Nayru nodded and brushed a strand of green hair away from Farore's face. She was of course worried about her sister but the fate of Hyrule worried her the most. "Without the Triforce of Courage, our Hero of Light will get weaker as well."
Din growled and a surge of red energy shot from her eyes and crashed into the floor, leaving a crater. "We should have forseen this comming!"
Nayru nodded but she put a comforting hand on Din's sholder "Dark must have gained control of the Mirror of Midnight."
"Yes, well tell me something that ISN'T obvious sister!" Din said irritably as she stood up, picking Farore up from the ground and carrying her to her bed.
When she returned to the room that Nayru was in, she had calmed down a little. "I appologise Nayru. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that."
Nayru just shrugged, her mind was on other matters "Link can already feel the side effects of Farore's injury." she said. "In most of the dimentions he has lost his divine powers completely."
Din nodded "Yes I have senced it as well. There are only two dimentions that still have even a fragment of the power of Courage to protect them."
"Then it is those two dimentions that we must have faith in then."
"You aren't suggesting what I think you are are you?" Din said in astonishment.
Nayru shook her head solomly "It's our only hope. If Farore were conscious she would agree and you know it."
Din hesitated and looked away she could see no other option no matter how she looked at the situation.
She finally looked back at Nayru, "I hope you know what you're doing sister. The fates of all of Hyrule and the creatures within it are counting on your plan to work."
    ***
Seya looked out the back window of Link and Celton's house. The stormclouds outside were getting thicker and darker. She was beginning to worry about her friends when with a loud bang the front door flew open and Destiny walked in, drenched from the rain, she was followed closely by Celton who was half walking next to and half carrying a very weary and pale looking Link. Seya's eyes went wide with worry as her three rain drenced friends stumbled into the house and Destiny closed the door behind them. "Link!?"
Celton helped Link over to the couch and let him sit down there. Seya continued talking as she quickly made her way over to them. "What happened? Is he ok?"
Link's expression was distorted with pain but he had high tolerance to pain so he held himself together well enough. Celton explained as Seya sat down next to Link. "We dont know. The storm got really violent and then we saw red lighting and blue too. But then a really huge green lightning bolt struck and Link fell down."
Link shook his head, trying to clear his mind before he answered from his own point of view "It felt like... as if all my energy was taken from me and that's when I fell but even now as my energy is returning I feel as if something was taken from me.I dont feel as powerful as I once was."
    ***
Ilia and Abby exchanged worried glances. The dance had been forced to be cancled because the storm was just getting to rough outside. Joey and Link ran into their friends just as the dance was ending and they were all on their way back to Link's house. Now Link, Ilia, Abby, Joey, Bo, and Jena were all gathered in Links house. Bo and Jena looked very worried about their father but they said nothing, not wanting to increase the stress. Link had tried to stand as long as he could but he just felt too weak and Ilia had to lead him to the chair next to the window. They listened as Link explained the same thing that younger Link from the other dimention explained to his own family. "...I dont feel as strong as I once was. It's like theres something missing from my heart or like some part of who I am just faided away." he concluded speaking and Ilia took her husband's hand nervously. "Dont worry Link... I'm sure that Queen Zelda will know what's going on. Why else would she have come to see us?"
Joey nodded "She's right mate." he said encouragingly. Even Joey could feel that there was something terribly wrong. He felt a storm comming worse then the one that was currently raiging outside.
    ***
Queen Zelda was getting anxious 'What is taking them so long?' she thought to herself as she waited for Link, Joey, and Jacob to come. The storm was getting worse so Zelda used magic to block away the elements as well as she could.
Then she saw Jacob come running through the trees, soaked and looking very worried. "Jacob? Where are Joey and your father?" Jacob knelt before Zelda to show respect but they both knew that there was no time for the formalities so Jacob stood up instantaniously and said "Your Majesty something is wrong. We were on our way to come see you and then Father fell down. He's really weak all the sudden."
Queen Zelda's eyes got wide with disbelief and worry. "Jacob you must take me to him. Please."
    ***
Princess Zelda climbed onto the back of her horse while Impa held onto the reins. "Are you sure you want to do this Majesty?"
Zelda nodded "There is no other choice Impa. I have to speak with Link and Celton."
"And What do I tell your father when he inquires where I let his daughter get off to this time?" Impa asked, exhasparated.
Zelda shrugged, she would have been amused by this question if she had not just gotten the horrible feeling that something was terribly wrong. "Just tell him that I will be home soon and that I love him."
With that, she took the reins of her horse from Impa and took off into the dark and stormy Hyrule Field.
Impa looked up at the sky as Zelda dissapeared into the darkness and the rain of the stormy night. "Goddesses please protect her..." she pleaded in a silent prayer.
    ***
Destiny looked at Celton and Seya "I think I can do at least something to help him but I need some herbs from the forest. Celton do you think you can go into the forest and get me four deku nuts, a pumpkin leaf, and four bee larva?" Celton nodded, the storm was getting a little calmer outside but it didn't matter if it was stormy or not Link needed help. He walked to the door and Seya followed him. The two of them ran into the forest as quickly as possible to find the ingredients Destiny had asked for.
    ***
Jacob and Zelda entered Link's house and Zelda quickly knelt down at Link's side. But just as she feared, she could not feel the power of the Triforce of Courage in him. She looked at Jacob and Jacob nodded as if answering some unspoken question in the queen's eyes.
Link looked up "The Triforce is damaged isn't it?"
Zelda nodded "Which means someone went to the Goddesses themselves." she said. Those words made the blood of everyone in the room run cold. Who could have been powerful enough to enter the realm of the Goddesses of Hyrule? That was the question on all of their minds. Jacob seemed to know the answer though. Without a word he turned and started walking to the door. They all saw him leaving, "Jacob where are you going?" Ilia called after him but he didn't have the time to answer his mother. If it really was Dark who was doing this then he had to go to one of the temples and find out for himself.
He opened the door and walked outside.
"Hey mate wait up!" Joey called as he stood and ran after him. Jacob and Joey ran to the edge of the village and out into the woods

    Chapter 4: Revelations

“Jacob!” Joey said, grabbing Jacob by the arm. Jacob jerked it back and continued walking towards the Forest Temple. He was too into his thoughts to care what Joey was saying.
“Jacob, wait!” Joey stepped in front of him. He kept Jacob back. Joey looked into his eyes and saw hurt and determination in Jacob’s eyes. “You think it’s Dark, don’t you mate?”
Jacob looked out into the forest. “Maybe. I just don’t know right now Joey. It’s too much to find out. But maybe we can find out what’s going on if we go to a temple. Any temple.”
“Jacob, even if it is Dark, do you think we would have a chance against him? Somehow, the Triforce of Courage was destroyed.”
Jacob nodded. “So? Maybe we can fix it Joey.” he started walking past Joey, but Joey held him back.
“Fix it? Jacob, it’s the Triforce of Courage mate. Not just some little sword that broke in a fight.”
Jacob pushed him. “Joey, get out of my way!” he walked past Joey and kept walking down the pathway. Joey stopped and stared at Jacob. What is wrong with you Jacob?

    ***

Celton pushed aside some bushes, finding a stray deku nut. He smiled and picked it up. Hearing thunder, he looked up to find the different color thunder flashing through the air. It must have something to do with the Goddesses. he pushed that thought aside. What mattered to him was Link’s health.
“Are you having any luck yet Celton?” Seya asked. She walked over to him with a bunch of bee larva.
“I have enough deku nuts. What about your bee larva?”
Seya counted her larva. “I have enough as well. We just need the pumpkin leaf and we’re good.”
Celton nodded and turned to walk back to some bushes when he felt a feeling pass through the air. It seemed as if the very air itself was getting heavier and heavier with each lighting strike.
“Seya?” Seya turned to Celton. “What do you think happened to Link?”
Seya shook her head. “I couldn’t begin to tell you Celton. I wish I knew, but it just seems weird what happened.”
“Why didn’t happen to me or Destiny as well? We were standing next to Link as well.”
Seya turned towards Celton. “Celton, if I knew what had happened, I would tell you. But I can’t.” just then, a light flashed.

    ***

Jacob and Joey were about to reach the Forest Temple when a shout rang out towards them. They both turned to find Abby running up to them.
“Abby?!” Jacob said. “Get out of here!”
Abby caught up to them and took Jacob’s hand. “Jacob, I’m worried about you. You just took off like that. I needed to make sure you were okay”
“I’m fine.” Jacob said bluntly, a hint of anger in his voice. Abby looked at Joey, confused. Joey shook his head.
“I can’t begin to tell you right now Abby.” above them, the storm raged even more. Suddenly, two lighting strikes collided into the ground before them. One was blue, while the other was red. Jacob took Abby and pushed her to the ground just as more lighting stuck the ground. Then the red lighting struck Joey while the blue one struck blue one struck Jacob.
“Jacob!!” Abby screamed out as she watched him disappear. A light flashed, which blinded Abby. She closed her eyes in the pain. When she opened them, Jacob and Joey were gone.

    ***

Celton opened his eyes after the light disappeared. Nothing seemed to change, which confused him. Next to him, Seya picked herself up. Celton looked out into the forest.
“What was that?” he asked. Seya shrugged.
“I don’t know.” a rustle was heard behind them. Celton spun around and drew his sword.
“Who’s there?” Celton shouted. Seya slipped into the shadows behind him. Not an answer was heard. But Celton didn’t think that they were alone. Someone stepped out.
Celton couldn’t believe it. The man looked just like Link. Only he had gray eyes and his hair was darker. He looked just as surprised to see Celton.
“Father?” the man said. Celton drew back at that. Father? Just then, another rustle came from Celton’s right. He spun around to see another man jump out at him. Celton dropped down so the man flew over him. The Link look-alike stepped forward.
“Joey! Wait!” he said. The man named Joey turned around. Just then, Celton saw Seya run out of the bushes at Joey. He turned around and tripped Seya.
“Joey!” the Link look-alike ran forward and held Joey back.
Celton looked at them. “Who are you?”

    ***

“Who are you?” Link’s father asked. No, Jacob thought. That’s not my father. It couldn’t be.
Joey picked up his sword. “Well, who are you? And what are you doing in Ordon mate?” the girl looked at the boy, then back at Joey.
“What is Ordon? This is the Mi`hem Forest.” Jacob looked at Joey, confused.
“I’ve never heard of Mi`hem before.” just then, the mysterious storm flashed once again. Three lighting strikes flew from the sky, striking Jacob, Joey, and Celton. Everything went dark in Jacob’s world.

    ***

Jacob opened his eyes to find himself in a huge chamber. Beside him, Joey was stirring as well. He sat up and held his head.
“Ugh… Mate, what happened?” Joey said, looking over at Jacob. Jacob shrugged.
“Ow…” someone said beside him. Jacob looked over to find the boy who looked like his father beside him, moaning. Jacob stood and held his hand out to him.
“Need any help?” the boy looked up and took his hand. He brushed himself off and stared at Jacob.
“Who are you? You look just like Link.”
Jacob raised his eyebrows. “You mean you’re not Link?”
    “I’m Celton. Who are you?”
Jacob looked over at Joey, who shrugged. Jacob looked back at Celton. “Name's Jacob. This is Joey.”
Celton nodded at them. “So what is going on?”
“We’ll tell you what’s going on.” someone said. The three of them spun around to see two women walking up to them. They were both dressed in dresses. One of them had a red-ish aura on her, while the other had a blue-ish one.
“You look familiar.” Jacob said. The red one smiled.
“My name is Din. This is my sister, Nayru.” Jacob’s eyes widened. He kneeled down.
    “My dear Goddesses.” Din smiled.
“Rise Jacob. You have proven yourself through all your hard times.” Nayru walked over to Celton.
“Dear Celton. Joey. Jacob. We have need of you once again.”
    “Need of us?” Celton asked.
    Din nodded. “Follow us.”

    ***

“As you know, us Goddesses descended upon Hyrule and created what you three think of Hyrule as it is now. I, Nayru, and Farore did what we could to make Hyrule perfect. But we were not the only ones to have our sights on what was Hyrule.
“But before we can tell you of that person, we must tell you of another person. A professor by the name of Theo. He found alternate realities of Hyrule, and desired to create a way through them. He came across the Mirror of Twilight. Then, he managed to break a piece from the Mirror, and used it to create what is called the Mirror of Midnight.
“But something happened. His creation was found. By the one person who desired Hyrule for his own. His name, as you know of it, is Dark. He viewed us as a threat to his plans and attempted to destroy Hyrule. We sealed him away, hoping he wouldn’t come back. But he managed to find The Mirror of Midnight. He killed Theo and tried turning the power of the Mirror on us. We managed to find where it was hidden and take it from him. Then we trapped Dark in a mortal body, to have him die out.”
Jacob shook his head. “It didn’t work. He’s still alive.”
Nayru nodded and followed off where Din had left off. “That he is. He had found a way to go through generations of the mortal body we put him in. Now he is back, and he has the Mirror.” They reached a room and walked through the door. The first thing Jacob noticed was the bed. Farore laid on it, in a deep sleep.
“He came after us and attempted to kill us. But Farore managed to hold him back. At the price of her own health.”
Joey’s eyes widened. “That’s why Link grew weak! Farore gave him strength through the Triforce of Courage. With her unconscious, he lost his strength.”
At the sound of her name, Farore slowly opened her eyes. Din walked over to her sister.
“Dear sister. How are you feeling?”
Farore looked at Din. “So weak. The Hero…”
Nayru placed her hand on Farore’s forehead. “Sleep peacefully sister. We shall take care of you.” Farore closed her eyes.
Nayru turned to the three. “This is where you come in. Jacob. Joey. You two took on Dark and managed to defeat him. We could use your help.” she then turned to Celton. “Celton. You have proved yourself by helping save the Hero. Your skills will be of use to us.”
Din walked over to them and handed them all crystals. “In these crystals, there are special powers.” she handed a blue one to Celton. “In this one, you will have the power to heal any injury.” she handed a green one to Joey. “Joey. With this crystal, you will have the power to teleport you and anybody with you to any place, time, or dimension.” finally, she turned to Jacob and handed him a red one. “Jacob, you will have the most important responsibility. You will have the power to see evil in its true form and have the power to see into the future.”
Jacob took the crystal. He instantly felt something surge through him. Power that he never knew existed.
“Not so fast.” someone said. Jacob spun around to see Dark walk into the room. He smiled at Jacob.
“Hello boy. How have you been?” Jacob scowled.
“What have you done?!” Dark laughed.
“Just shown what a true god is.” he blasted magic at them. Jacob held his hands up, but the darkness passed by him. He lowered his arms to see Dark smiling.
“The right to be a god…” Dark chuckled. “That right, is now mine.” he snapped his fingers and teleported away. Jacob couldn’t help but to think, Do we really stand a chance?

    Chapter 5:... Awkward

Celton looked between the two goddesses, to Farore, to Jacob's stunned face as Dark disappeared. As he took the crystal a surge of energy seemed to shoot it's way through him but after Dark disappeared he felt something else also make it's way into his heart. He looked down at the crystal in his hand and nearly dropped it out of pure shock as he saw that it had been tainted. It's once pure bright white surface was now covered with a dark aura.
Joey and Jacob also noticed the differences in the crystals. "Something tells me that wasn't supposed to happen mate." Joey said kind of sarcastically as he looked at Nayru and Din.
Din looked angered and Nayru worried. Nayru was the one to answer "No, you are right Joey. This wasn't supposed to happen." she looked to Din. "He couldn't take the powers away so what did he do?"
Din nodded "He tainted your powers." She could feel the difference in the crystals already. They were Din's own creation so she could tell that they were wrong. "He put selfish desire into them and made each time you use them a risk to your lives. Jacob, you can no longer see evil or see the future without losing a little of yourself along the way. Every vision of the future you see is now a risk of losing the memories of your past forever and every time you look into the dark realm it is a chance that you will lose the light within you. Joey, you can still transport yourself between time and dimentions but you can only take one with you and no other and the farther you travel the more of your own energy you will use. Be careful not to transport yourself too far or you will die in the effort. Celton..." Celton already had a guess what Din was about to say "...Yours may be one of the most dangerous physically. Every time you heal annother you take their pain apon yourself and I mean every pain they have at the time wether it be physical, spiritual, or mental." Celton nodded and all three of them looked even less sure than they did before that they stood a chance against Dark now. Nayru said "You three must realize he knows what we're planning and he will try everything in his power to stop you before you get powerful enough to pose a threat to him."
"Wait a moment mate. If he wants to stop us before we can stop him why didn't he just kill us now instead of just messing with your gifts?"
Din answered this question "Because he cant... not yet."
Jacob glared, "What does that mean? He could attack you here, couldn't he?"
Nayru nodded "Yes, but Farore injured him on our last encounter. He is weakened for now, but it wont last long."
Din added spitefully "Yes, and Dark enjoys playing with his enemies anyway. He enjoys a challenge so why kill you before his game has begun?"
Naryu did not answer her sisters retorical question. Instead, she looked to Jacob, Celton, and Joey "Your first task is to go to Kakariko and find the Shaman named Renado. I'm sure all three of you have at least heard that name if you have not worked with him before."
Jacob especially recognized that name. Like a knife the memory of Renado's death struck strongly into his heart. Din continued where her sister had left off, "Jacob, Joey you are in a new world now. Some of the faces you will see will not match the memories you have of them. Beware of your own memories for they will decieve you."
Jacob nodded "We understand." In truth he was worried now more than ever that they truly could make a difference against Dark.
Nayru smiled a little, looking at the grave expressions on the faces on the three mortals. "Despair not, young heros." she said gently. "We would not give you this task if we didn't think you could succeed. The fate of all dimentions and lives of Hyrule now rest on you Jacob, Celton, and Joey. Dont let us down." With that, the two goddesses disappeared along with the vision of their home. The forest appeared around them. Joey sighed "We got our work cut out for us on this one mate." he said to Celton and Jacob.
    ***
Seya came running back into the house just after the rain stopped. She looked afraid and confused. Destiny and Link looked up as she came farther into the house. "Seya?" Destiny said "What's wrong?"
"Where's Celton?" Link added when he didn't see his brother follow Seya into the house.
Seya was winded from running the whole way back "He... we were attacked sort of by some strangers in the forest and then all the sudden Celton and the two strangers dissapeared. I dont know why." she said, alarmed and paniced "I looked everywhere but there was no sign of him."
Destiny was stunned "First Link gets sick and now this!?" she said. "What on earth is going on?"
Link tried to stand up "Only one way to find out." he was saying but Destiny and Seya pushed him back down. "Would you stop trying to get up?" Destiny said irritably. "You're hurt and last time you tried to walk to the door you passed out!"
Link glared "My brother is out there somewhere, Destiny. Do you want me to just stay here and do nothing?"
Seya shook her head "Of course were not asking you to do that Link. Just let us go and you stay here. We dont want you to get hurt any more than you already are..."
Just then all three of them were interrupted when the door flew open and Celton walked in, followed by two strange men. One of them resembled Link so strongly that Destiny's and Link's mouths flew open in shock. The only difference was that the stranger looked older and had silver eyes and darker hair than Link. The other stranger had dark hair that almost hung over his eyes. He looked a little taller than the other two, and his blue eyes darted about the others in the room, always searching.
"Celton!" Destiny said as she ran over to Celton and hugged him.
Celton realized that Seya must have told her and Link what happened. He felt guilty for worrying her and he hugged her back, holding her close for a moment before he let her go and pulled back.
Link was having a little trouble taking his eyes off of the one that looked exactly like him. Link and Jacob just stared at eachother with freaked out looks on their faces. Seya glared "Why did you bring them home with you Celton?" she said looking very untrusting at Joey and Jacob.
"Destiny, Seya, Link, this is Joey and Jacob. Joey, Jacob, this is Destiny, Seya, and my brother Link."
Destiny smiled a little though she still looked a little worried. "Seya you said that you were attacked by strangers in the woods. Not Link's evil twin." she said sarcasticly.
Celton smiled a little "They aren't exactly twins..." he said ackwardly.
"Why does he look like me then?" Link asked.
Jacob looked at his father from a different dimention and then looked at Joey who shrugged. "He looks younger than you! Now thats gotta be weird mate, having your dad younger than you."
Link, Destiny, and Seya all looked at Celton, Joey, and Jacob with their mouths agape. Finally Link cleared his throat and looked at the three "Ok, I think the three of you have some explaining to do."
    ***
Later, everyone was now sitting in the front room of Link and Celton's house. Link looked thoughtful "Ok, so let me get this straight then. What happened in the forest happened because Farore got hurt, An evil psycho is running around through these... what are they called again?"
    "Dimentions." Jacob answered.
"...Right. You three got called on a mission from the goddesses to stop this Dark person, and you all have to go see Renado. Did I miss anything?"
Destiny laughed "Like the fact that Jacob is your son from another dimention?" she said.
Link and Jacob still looked a little freaked out by that and both of them looked away ackwardly "Oh, of course. How could I forget that?" Link said sarcasticly.
Destiny shook her head and looked at Celton "I thought all of your little adventures were over?" she said.
Celton shrugged and stood up "Well apparently not."
Jacob stood up, he wasn't in the mood to sit around any longer. "We should go." he said to Celton and Joey.
Joey nodded and stood up as well "The longer Dark is out there the stronger he's going to get mate."
Celton looked at Link "The only reason we came back here is because I need to get the horses and to borrow your sword."
Link nodded, he picked up the Master sword from the floor by the wall and handed it to Celton "Good luck Bro." he said. Celton shiethed the sword and then looked at Jacob and Joey "Let's go."
Destiny gave Celton one more hug "You promise you'll come home without me having to come find you this time?" she asked him.
Celton smiled a little at some memory deep in his mind. "I promise." he whispered before he waved to Link and Seya.
Jacob, Joey, and Celton walked to the door and Jacob was the last to walk outside. Just at the door he turned around and looked at Link Seya and Destiny. "I guess I'll see you around..." he wasn't sure if he was supposed to call him 'dad' or 'Link'.
"Jacob! Come on mate we're back here." he heard Joey call from somewhere toward the back of the house. Grateful for an excuse to leave, he turned and ran toward Celton and Joey. As he got closer to them he tried to transform into his lion form but nothing happened. He stopped short and tried again but still nothing. He still remained human.
Joey looked at the expression on Jacob's face and glared "You ok mate?"
Jacob thought about telling Joey that he couldn't transform anymore but then he shrugged. 'They DID tell me things would be different here.' he thought to himself as he answered Joey. "No. I'm fine." he said shortly.
Celton nodded "Ok, I dont know if it's the same in your dimention but Kakariko isn't that far away on foot or on horseback. Which way do you guys want to travel?"
Joey shrugged "Same with us but horseback would still be faster."
Jacob nodded in agreement "Besides who knows where else we'll need to go after Kakariko."
Celton agreed "You have a point." With that, he walked a little ways into the forest. Jacob and Joey exchanged looks, wondering if they were supposed to follow him or not. Celton returned only moments later carrying the reins of three horses behind him. He handed Joey the reins of an older looking black horse "This is Brattor. He use to belong to my friend and mentor. He's pretty old but still one of the fastest I know of."
Epona looked between Jacob and Celton and grunted irritably. Celton laughed "I know. I'm still getting use to it too." he said as he patted Epona's neck before climbing onto her sattle. He looked back at Jacob and Joey "You still gotta admit Link's reaction when we told him who Jacob is was hilarious."
"Speak for yourself." Jacob said with a half smile as he climbed onto the sattle of the third horse. He already knew it's name because in his dimention it belonged to Rusl.
Celton shrugged "Before we start this little adventure I just have one question. Din said you two have faced Dark before. So how bad is this situatoin Really?"
Jacob answered "Like Joey said before, we deffinately have our work cut out for us this time."
"Great." Celton said sarcasticly before the three of them rode on toward Kakariko.

    Chapter 6: The Crystal

They rode for the rest of the day, stopping only to rest. The next morning, the trio reached Kakariko. Celton got off his horse and tied the reins to a post. Jacob looked out into the little town.
“This Kakariko looks a lot different from ours.” he commented to Joey, who had also gotten off his horse.
Joey looked at Jacob, then at the village. “That it is mate. I wonder if there are any of the same people there?” Jacob shrugged.
“Well, even if there isn’t, everyone here is still friendly.” Celton replied, walking over to them. When they were ready, Jacob stopped them.
“Maybe we should test our powers out real quick. Just to make sure we have them right.” they each looked at each other, wondering who would be the first to volunteer. Joey stepped forward.
“I will. What should I do mate?” Jacob looked around, then pointed at a ridge.
“There. See if you can teleport there.” Joey closed his eyes. He disappeared with a pop. The next second, he was on the ridge, looking down upon Jacob and Celton.
“It works!” he shouted. Then, he teleported next to the other two. “Although, it tires me out.”
Celton looked at Joey. “It seems that you will have to limit your teleports. Jacob, would you like to go next?” Jacob nodded. He closed his eyes. After a few seconds, he opened them up again.
    “Well mate?” Joey asked.
Jacob looked over at Joey. “I tried looking into the future, and it worked. But now I feel as if I forgot something. Something important.”
“Maybe something from your past?” Joey offered. Jacob shrugged, then looked at Celton.
“How should we test yours?” Celton thought about it, then shrugged.
“Wait.” Joey said. He drew his knife. “I’ll make a small cut on me. And you heal it mate.”
“Are you sure Joey?” Joey nodded, then pricked himself on his arm. A spot of blood came oozing out. Celton placed his hand on it and closed his eyes. When he removed his hand, the cut was gone. But it was on Celton as well.
“Well, at least we know what they work. Now I think we should go meet up with Renado.”

    ***

Celton showed them the way to Renado’s shack. When they reached it, they saw Renado sitting in his garden. He looked up and saw them, and waved.
Celton and Joey walked over to him, but noticed that Jacob stayed still. Joey walked back to him.
“Everything okay mate?” Jacob looked at him, and nodded. But Joey knew that from the look in his eye that something was bothering Jacob. They walked back to Celton.
“Renado, I want you to meet Jacob and Joey.” Renado looked at Joey and nodded to him, then at Jacob and frowned.
“Why does he look like Link, Celton?”
“It’s a long story Renado. Can we go in and talk?”
Renado nodded. “Please, come in. Come in.” Renado led them into his house. They sat at the table.
“Renado.” Celton started, but Jacob interrupted him.
“Wait. I have to say something.” Puzzled, Celton looked at Joey who shrugged. Jacob ignored them both and turned to Renado.
“Renado. I just want to say. I’m sorry.”
Renado looked confused as well. “Sorry for what?”
Jacob sighed. “Me and Joey, my friend, are from another dimension. You are there as well. But… Something happened to you.” Joey’s eyes widened at that.
“I… I killed you. In our dimension, I was on the run from something. And I came across you. And what I was running from killed you.”
Renado didn’t comment, as neither did Celton or Joey. Jacob hung his head. “I never meant for it to happen. I did terrible things during that time. I have always wanted to take it back, so much. I just feel that this may be my only chance to.”
Renado nodded. “Your apology is accepted, even if it is not meant for exactly me. Now,” he turned to Celton. “What brings you here? And why did he say that your friends are from other dimensions?”
Celton told him the story of Dark going after the Goddesses, of Farore’s injury, of both Link’s losing their power, and of their mission to defeat Dark and heal Farore. Renado didn’t interrupt the whole time.
“So,” when Celton got finished talking. “You need my help to defeat this ‘Dark’ and help all dimensions from being killed?” they nodded. “Well, from what you told me, there is not much I can do. I will give you as much assistance as I can.”
He got up and picked out a book. Bringing it back to the table, he set it down. “Now, from what you told me of Dark, he sounds like the God of Darkness. Kaiden.”
“Kaiden?” Jacob inquired. That name sounds so familiar.
Renado nodded. “Yes, Kaiden. He was created around the same time as the Goddesses. Legend speaks of him as being as powerful as the Goddesses themselves. He disappeared around the time Hyrule was created, and has not been seen since. Until now.”
He pushed the book towards the trio. Jacob looked at it. On the page was a picture. It was a man. Only, to Jacob, the man wasn’t exactly the kind of man you would expect to see. Even in the book, Kaiden gave off an evil presence.
“Now, as it goes, you cannot truly defeat him. Only the power of the Goddesses can truly kill him. However, there is a way to capture him and contain him. There is a crystal. The Midnight Crystal. It holds powers beyond anything any mortal has seen. No one knows where it is hidden. Only that a select few can wield it.”
“Is there a clue to it?” Joey asked, looking over the book.
“Yes. The Midnight Crystal lies in the Heart of Worlds and can only be retrieved at the Dawn of Midnight.”
“That is the clue Renado?” Celton asked, making a mental note to remember the saying.
Renado nodded. “Yes it is. You must decipher it and find the Crystal. But you will need some help sword-wise.”
Celton held out The Guardian Soul. Jacob held up the Master Sword. Joey looked at his sword and frowned.
“All I have is my regular sword!” he exclaimed. He picked up his sword and threw it to the side.
Renado smiled. “I do have a sword for you. I found it a while back and figured it would be good to keep just in case.” Renado walked over to a chest and opened it. He pulled out a big sword and handed it to Joey. Joey unsheathed it and stared in wonder.
The sword he held was a majestic one. It was as if two pieces of brightly colored metal came together and formed an all powerful sword in the shape on DNA. It seemed to float in Joey’s hand.
“What is it?” Joey asked, still staring at the sword.
“That, I do believe, is Fierce Diety’s sword. The Double Helix.” Joey spun around.
“Are you serious?!” Celton and Jacob looked at the sword in surprise. Renado laughed and nodded.
“Yes, I’m being serious. You may use it. I feel it will come in handy for you.” Joey fumbled with the strap to get it on. When he finally did, he kept staring at it.
“I do believe we got what we needed.” Jacob said. He stood up out of the chair and shook Renado’s hand.
    “Thank you.”
“Your welcome my boy.” Jacob looked at Joey and Celton.
We just might win after all.

    Chapter 7: Evil Among Us

"So do you have any clue where we should begin looking for this, Midnight Crystal mate?" Joey asked Renado as he put his new blade away.
Renado shrugged "It's been handed down by the Royal Family for centuries. You might ask Princess Zelda of Hyrule Castle Town about it." He sugested. Celton nodded "I thought you might say as much." he said. "Besides even if Zelda doesn't know where it is, she may have some advice for where to begin looking."
"Princess? You mean Zelda isn't queen yet?" Jacob said, he didn't know why this suprised him so much. Possibly because for as long as he could remember Zelda was the only true ruler the kingdom had.
Celton laughed "No but she's far wiser than her father. The only thing that keeps her off the throne now is age."
Renado smiled a little "The three of you should be off. If what you told me is true then you three have quite a job on your hands and a long journey at that."
"He's right." Jacob said to Celton and Joey. "We should get moving if we're going to get to Hyrule Castle Town by nightfall."
"Thanks again for the sword mate." Joey called back as the three of them made their way to the door.
"No problem my boy. Good luck, all of you." Renado answered as Celton, Jacob, and Joey left Renado's house. Renado closed the door behind them. Now that they were gone the smile on his face faided "May the goddesses protect us all." he whispered.
Jacob, Celton and Joey walked to their horses and then rode out of town. Back in Hyrule feild Joey said "So the plan is we go to Hyrule Castle Town, find Qu... Princess Zelda and see if she knows where the Midnight Crystal is right?"
"Yup." Joey and Celton answered at the same time.
"So, what if she doesn't have it and she doesn't know where it is mate?" Joey said. "What then?"
All three of them seemed stumped by that question. After a moment Celton spoke up "I know Zelda must at least know a clue as to where it is. And if she doesn't... then we're just going to have to cross that bridge when we get to it. There's no point in worrying about 'what if' just yet."
"You got a point there mate." Joey answered thoughtfully.
    ***
Seya took a plate of food to Link. He took it with a grateful smile and Seya sat down next to him "How are you feeling?" she asked him.
Link sighed "I'm fine but I can tell that Farores condition isn't getting any better. It's just confusing to me how it seems the only power I had came from the triforce? Am I really this weak on my own?"
Seya shook her head "of course not! But think about it Link, the triforce was a part of you as well as a part of Farore. When she was injured so was it and therefore so were you. It's not the lack of the power of the triforce that weakens you it is that the three of you are all linked into one. I do have this belief that whenever you are hurt Farore feels your pain as well as well. It's a balance between the divine, living, and nonliving."
Link shook his head "...I'm just not so sure anymore Seya. I"m worried about Celton and Jacob and Joey but I cant even get up and walk to that door without falling over much less lift up a sword to help them..."
    ***
"...I'm supposed to be the Hero of light. But some hero I am when I watched my own son walk into danger and not do anything to help him."
Ilia shook her head "This isn't your fault Link." she said sternly. "Abby said she saw them struck by blue and red lightning. Doesn't that mean it was sent of the Goddesses? Maybe it just isn't your turn to save Hyrule this time. It's up to Jacob and Joey this time."
Link nodded "You're right as usual, Ilia."
Ilia smiled and kissed Link on the cheek before she stood up "You should get some rest. I'm going to get started on dinner." She walked out of the room.
Link looked out the window Good luck wherever you are Jacob.
    ***
Zelda rode her horse to the edge of the forest but for some reason it refused to walk any farther. She urged him forward but all she got was bucked off. "How come I'm always the one to get thrown off the horseback?" she said as she stood up, rubbing a sore spot on the back of her head she had hit when she fell.
"Well fine." she said calmly to her horse "If you're too scared to go in then I guess I'll have to walk from here." with that, she walked through the trees and up the path to Farore Spring but as she walked through the bushes to get there she stopped abruptly, a gasp of suprise escaped her lips. Every little soul of plantlife from the largest tree to the smallest blade of grass was black and dying. "Oh my goodness..." Zelda whispered as she walked forward to the once holy clearing. Even the spring, once clear and beautiful seemed to be effected by Farore's ijury. It was Black and frozen all the way to the bottom. The very air of the forest had changed. Everything seemed lifeless and cold without the presence of Farore. "Is this really how everything will become if Dark takes power?"
She shook her head "I dont have time to worry about this... I have to find Link and Celton."
    ***
Impa was just leaving the castle gates to go for a walk when she heard the sound of hoofprints getting louder. She turned in the direction of the sound to see three men riding toward her. She recognised Link and Celton but she did not know who the third rider was. She walked toward them and Celton stopped in front of her, the other two stopped as well. "Link? Celton? What are you two doing way up here?... wait a moment you aren't Link are you? Celton what's going on?"
Celton climbed off of his horse and nodded reassuringly to Impa "Impa This is Jacob and this is Joey. You're right, Jacob isn't Link. Please dont ask why he looks like my brother it's a really long story that I would rather not repeat until we can see Zelda. Can you take us to her?"
Impa shook her head "No, Zelda left about a night ago to the forest to find you. She kept on telling me she's been having dreams about Hyrule again and about some sort of stone. She spared no time to tell me all of the details."
"Well theres one way to find out mate. I can go get her." Joey said. All eyes turned on Joey.
Celton looked a little skeptical "The forest is a day and a half ride from here. That kind of a teleportaton could kill you." he said.
"Do you have a better idea mate?" Joey answered. "It's either that or waste a day of riding to the forest while Dark gets more powerful." he pointed out.
"Joey's right." Jacob said "Just be careful Joey."
"We'll wait for you right here." Celton added.
"Wish me luck mate." Joey said before he dissapeared.
Suddenly, Jacob's hand flew to the hilt of the Master Sword "Impa, hurry back to the castle."
Celton and Impa looked at Jacob questioningly "Jacob are you alright?" Celton said cautiously.
Jacob shook his head "Theres something evil near... I can feel it."
"And you are right." someone said from a distance behind them.
Impa, Celton, and Jacob turned to see Dark standing on the top of the Gate to Hyrule Castle Town looking down on his enemies with a triumphant grin. "Ironic isn't it that your friend asked for luck when it was really you who needs good luck right now boy."
Celton and Jacob drew their swords. "Why do you stand all the way up there?" Celton called to Dark "Are you too afraid to stand where we can reach you?"
Dark chuckled darkly and ignored his comment "See, I cant have the two of you or your friend finding the Midnight Crystal so this is where your road must end." He disappeared.
Jacob and Celton looked around to try to find where he might have gone and Impa backed away toward the gates of the castle.
"Can you sence where he is?" Celton whispered to Jacob.
Jacob shook his head "Shh... I'm trying to do that but you're interrupting me." he whispered back. He closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on the power Din gave him to sence evil. He suddenly turned around and swung his blade, it almost looked like he was swinging his blade right at Celton's head. Celton ducked just in time, Jacobs sword seemed to have struck some invisible wall only inches from where Celton's head was before he ducked.
Dark became visible again "Good work. Your powers are growing." he said mockingly as he lunged at Jacob with his sword in a stab straight at Jacob's heart. Jacob dodged to the right with only seconds to spare and Celton brought his sword down at Dark's arm where it was exposed to stab Jacob. Dark brought his sword back just in time to block Celton's attack. Celton and Dark were then caught in a deadlock, both of them pushing their blades against the others but Dark was stronger than Celton and the sharp edges of the swords inched their way closer to Celtons face by the second. Jacob intervined, throwing himself at Dark and pushing him away from Celton but Dark had already forseen this move and he grabbed Jacob's wrist with one fluid motion almost too quick to be seen. He twisted Jacob's hand behind his back, Jacob cried out in pain as his arm made a sick snapping sound and Dark kicked him in the back of the head, Jacob fell over forward.
"Jacob!" Celton cried as he ran over to help Jacob but Dark used Celton's distraction to slash his blade out to his neck. Celton had to roll on the ground to evade the attack.
"You and your friends were foolish to think you stood any kind of a chance against a god." Dark chuckled as he advanced on Celton.
    ***
Zelda almost reached Me`hem Village when a strange man appeared in front of her with a metallic pop sound. "Princess Zelda. I Know you have absolutely no reason to trust me but my name is Joey and I'm a friend of Celton's." he explained. "Celton sent me to get you because we really need your help." he held out his hand to her. "Just take my hand and I'll take you to them."
Zelda hesitated 'How do I know I can trust him...?' he thought to herself cautiously.
    ***
Jacob's right arm was rendered completely useless. He feared that Dark broke it but he highly hoped that that wasn't the case. He groaned as he stood up, seeing Dark advance on Celton, ready to deal a lethal blow. He threw himself at Dark slashing his sword at his chest with all the strength he had.
Dark was caught off guard by the attack. He managed to dodge the blow enough to keep him alive but Jacob's sword still slashed across his sholder. Dark cried out in rage and pain and kicked Jacob in the face. Celton slashed out his own sword at the same time as Dark kicked and his sword came in contact with Dark's back. Dark turned around and backhanded Celton across the face hard enough that Celton was send flying off of his feet and to the ground.
"Enough!" Dark screamed angrily. His hands glowed with power. "It's time to end this!" He shot a lethal ray of energy at both Jacob and Celton. Celton and Jacob both stepped back and raised their hands over their eyes, the light of the attack made them both turn their faces away.
'Is this really the end?' Jacob thought.
'I'm sorry... Destiny. I failed you. was running through Celton's mind.
Just then Celton and Jacob heard a voice that made them both look up. "Hey Dark!" Joey called as he threw himself at dark and knocked him aside. Zelda appeared between Celton and Jacob, and Dark. She held out her hand and the attack he had sent to them reflected back to Dark. Dark took the full force of the attack and flew back, hitting the boarder wall of Hyrule Castle Town with a loud crash that cracked the very foundation of the wall.
Dark stood up very quickly but it was obvious that he had been hurt by the attack, he was bleeding from the wounds that Jacob, Joey, and Celton had inflicted.
"This is not the end." he threatened the three of them.
"Dont you dare run away!" Joey screamed. He ran at Dark with his sword drawn but Dark only disappeared. His laugh echoed to all four of them after Dark was gone.
Jacob and Celton both moved to stand up, both of them a little shacky. Jacob graned and favored his injured arm. "Jacob!?" Joey and Celton ran over to Jacob and Joey offered his hand to help Jacob up "Are you alright mate?"
Jacob nodded "Yeah It's just my arm. Dark hurt it somehow."
"It's lucky you two showed up when you did. Jacob and I would have been goners." Celton said.
Joey nodded "No arguments there mate."
Zelda stepped forward and examined Jacobs arm "It looks like he broke it."
"Maybe I can heal it." Celton offered.
Jacob shook his head "What help would that do? It would only move the injury to you."
Zelda sighed "Come inside. Hurry. I'll have Impa take a better look at all three of your injuries. She's an expert healer."
Celton nodded "She's right. Lead the way your magesty."
Zelda nodded and the three of them walked to the doors of the castle where Impa stood waiting.

    Chapter 8: Dark Intentions

They led Jacob into Impa’s study. Impa sat the boy down and started feeling his arm. Jacob grunted in pain as Impa popped his arm back into place. Then she mixed some herbs together and had him take them. All the while, Celton, Joey, and Zelda stood outside the door. Celton told Zelda everything that was going on.
“Hmmm… The Midnight Crystal… It sounds so familiar. I think I have read of it before. Let’s go check the library.” they walked into the library and Zelda pulled down a bunch of books. Her and Celton started reading them while Joey stood there, looking lost.
“Um, Joey?” Celton said. Joey looked at him. “You’re supposed to pick up a book and read it.”
Joey shuffled his feet and looked at the ground. He mumbled something.
    “What was that?” Zelda asked.
“I can’t read!” Joey said. Celton raised his eyebrows.
“Really?” Celton asked, putting his book down. Joey nodded.
“Well, that’s okay. We’ll just do what we can right now.” Celton said. Just then, Jacob and Impa walked in. Jacob’s arm was in a sling and he looked mad.
“Jacob!” Celton exclaimed. He stood up and walked over to him. “I wish I could help out.”
Jacob shook his head. “No. We need to make sure you are okay. I’ll be fine Celton. I promise.” he walked over to the table. “So what are we doing here?”
“Trying to find out about the Midnight Crystal.” Impa, who was about to walk out the room, stopped and turned around.
“Did you say… The Midnight Crystal?” they nodded. Impa went white.
“Please. I beg of you. Stop your search for the Crystal.” Jacob looked at her.
“We can’t. We need that Crystal.” Jacob explained to Zelda and Impa about Dark, Farore’s injury, and the dimensions.
“So you and Joey are both from different dimensions? And there, Jacob is the son of Link?” Zelda inquired. Jacob nodded. “Wow. Talk about identity crisis.” Everyone laughed except for Impa. She looked grave.
“Impa? What is it?” Zelda asked, worried.
“I know of the Midnight Crystal. The Royal Family gave the responsibility of protecting the Crystal to my family. We have watched over it for a long time.”
Jacob jumped up excitedly. “So you know where the Crystal is?”
Impa shook her head. “No, I don’t know the exact location.” Jacob cried out in rage and threw a book across the room.
“Why did the Goddesses choose us!?” he said. Joey stood up and grabbed his shoulder.
“Calm down mate.” Jacob looked him in the eyes and sighed.
“You’re right. Sorry guys. I guess I lost it.” Jacob sat down. He looked over at Impa.
“Please tell me there is at least a clue you have to the Crystal. My fathers life is at stake. Celton’s brothers life is at stake. Everyone’s life is at stake.”
Impa stared at him. “Well, it’s not exactly a clue. But it has been said that the Hero’s opposite could find the Crystal.” her and Zelda looked over at Celton.
“The Hero’s opposite?” Joey said, confused. “The Hero was light, so his opposite would be…”
“Dark.” Jacob whispered. “His opposite would be Dark Link.” Jacob stood up. “So if we can find Dark Link, then we can get him to find the Midnight Crystal!” he smiled.
“It’s not as simple as that.” Celton said. Joey and Jacob looked at him.
    “What do you meant mate?”
Celton stood up. “What I mean is, what makes you think we can even find Dark Link? There’s a reason he has been considered Ganondorf’s right hand man and assassin. He’s impossible to find.”
“Celton, you know that’s not true!” Zelda exclaimed. Celton gave her a cold look.
“Wait, I think we’re missing out on something mate.” Joey said, eyeing Jacob. Celton sighed.
A bang was heard just outside the door. One of the guards came rushing in.
“Moblins! We need to get you to safety mistresses!” he was shocked to find Joey, Jacob, and Celton in the room.
“Go!” Celton shouted and drew the Goddesses sword. “Get them out of here! We’ll hold the Moblins off!” Impa and Zelda took off. Joey looked at Jacob.
    “Go with them mate!”
Jacob shook his head. “I can’t do that. My place is with you three.”
Celton turned to him. “Look, we need you. And you’re not exactly in the right condition to fight.”
Jacob growled at Celton. “I will not allow you to lecture me.” suddenly, Jacob had a distant look pass over him.
Joey stepped between them. “Mate, just go. We can handle ourselves.” Jacob finally nodded and ran out the door after Zelda and Impa. Joey turned towards Celton.
“Come on. Let’s get to the gates.” he took Celton’s arm and teleported away.

    ***

Jacob ran down the hallways after Zelda. He couldn’t believe what he had seen. So that’s what he was keeping from us. Jacob needed to reunite with them fast.
He turned a corner and was tackled by a Moblin. He discarded the sling and drew his sword. Pain shot up his arm but he ignored it as he knocked the Moblins weapon aside and stabbed it. It disappeared instantly. He took off back down the hallway.
After a few minutes, he ran into them. “Jacob!” Zelda exclaimed. Impa looked at his arm.
“You should not have taken that sling off.”
“I don’t care about that sling.” he said, looking over at Zelda. “How long have you known?”
    Zelda was confused. “Known what?”
“About Celton. How long have you known about Celton?!” Impa stepped in front of him.
“We’ve known for a while. Why do you care?”
Jacob eyed her. “Because it could be a problem for us.”
“You heard what I said earlier.” Jacob stepped closer.
“It’s bad enough we have one dark being running around. We don’t need another!”
Zelda held him hand. “Listen Jacob. Celton isn’t what you think he is. You have to trust us. Celton is a good person.”
Jacob sighed. “Look, I’m going to get you two out of here. Then I’m heading back to them.”

    ***

Joey and Celton landed just outside the gate. A Moblin turned towards them and cried out. Joey drew Double Helix and cut its head off. Celton jumped forward and took out another Moblin.
Soon, Hyrule Guards came out to help. They started driving the Moblins back slowly. Celton smiled. This could work. Suddenly, the guard beside him fell to the ground, dead. Celton looked around and saw Dark standing there, smiling.
“Dark!” Celton dashed forward and swung his sword. Dark rolled out of the way and punched Celton in the stomach. Celton felt his breath get knocked out of him and he fell to the ground. Dark stood over him.
“How does it feel to be weak?” he blasted Celton with dark energy. “How does the darkness feel?” Celton passed out, hearing Dark’s laughter.

    ***

Joey saw Celton fall to the ground. “Celton!!” he screamed. Joey teleported beside him and held his sword out. Dark eyed him.
“Impressive sword.” Dark brought his sword down on Joey’s. Joey pushed it aside and kicked out at Dark. Dark disappeared and Joey saw him on the gates once again.
“I can reach you Dark!” Joey shouted and teleported beside Dark. Dark stabbed at Joey, but Joey blocked it and swung his sword. Dark teleported once again, this time by the tree line. Joey teleported as well, but fell to his knees when he got there.
Dark smiled. “Looks like you’re running low on energy my boy.” he swung at Joey, who was barely able to dodge it. Dark kicked him and Joey fell to the ground. Dark kneeled next to him.
“You are weak. Just like your father. “Joey struggled to get up. Dark backed up from him.
“Shut… up…” Joey said. He ran at Dark, but Dark tripped him. Joey fell to the ground, his sword tumbling from his hands. Laying there, Joey felt vulnerable. He’s right. I am weak.
Dark stood beside Joey. “Do not fear. I will let you live. For now.” Dark turned and disappeared. Joey stared at the spot where he last was.
    Jacob… Celton… Whitney…

    ***

Jacob came running out of the Castle, sword ready to fight. He expected to find Moblins. What he didn’t expect to see was Hyrule Guards picking up their dead. And Celton lying on the ground.
“Celton!” Jacob shouted. He dashed forward and picked his partner up. Celton’s eyes slowly opened.
“Jacob… Where’s Joey?” he asked, slowly standing up.
Jacob looked around. “I don’t know.” a guard came running up.
“Sir! Someone is laying out by the tree line. We don’t know who it is.” Jacob looked at Celton, eyes wide with fear.
“Oh no…” he ran out the gate as fast as he could. Please let Joey be okay… Please let Joey be okay… They reached the body to find that it was Joey. He was unconscious.
Jacob picked him up. “Come on. We’ll take him to the Castle. We need to talk.”

    Chapter 9: Reflection in Shadows

Impa healed Celton to the best of her ability and then checked on Jacobs arm before she sent the two of them out of her study so she could work on Joey. Joey was in pretty bad shape to be honest but it was nothing Impa couldn't fix with her hearbs. Zelda sat on the window sill as she watched Impa work. She could hear Jacob and Celton talking outside but she couldn't understand what words they were saying through the thick castle walls. "...Impa?" she said with a sigh.
Impa was a little preocupied cutting up Dryadd Leaves at the moment so she was only half listening to the princess. "Yes princess?"
Zelda paused, listening to Celton's and Jacobs voices. She could tell it was Jacob speaking at the moment. She could tell by the tone on his voice that they were either arguing quietly or discussing how to take action next. "How did Jacob know?"
Impa frowned, "About what, Zelda?" she asked as she poured the herbs into a cup and set them on the bedside table.
"About..." she looked down at Joey, making sure he was still unconcious and couldn't hear her and then she looked back at Impa "...about Celton?"
Impa shrugged "I dont know. Honestly, I've wondered about it too. My only guess is that he has some ability to see that sort of thing. Perhaps Din and Nayru granted him that power."
Zelda nodded "... do you think that's what they are discussing in there?"
Impa looked suprised and turned around to face Zelda "Zelda, you aren't eves dropping again, are you?" she said scoldingly.
Zelda shook her head "No, of course not. I learned my lesson from last time I got caught doing that. But you saw how troubled Jacob looked about it."
Impa shrugged and turned around to Joey again as she answered Zelda "Yes, well, that would be the normal reaction to what Jacob saw. But Celton is also pretty good with his words when he wants to be. You'll see. Everything's going to be fine."
Zelda shrugged "I hope you're right Impa..."
Just then Joey moaned slightly and sat up, "Argh..." he groaned "What happene..." He was suddenly alert as he remembered the last events of the day before he lost conciousness "Dark! Celton!" he said, alarmed as he reached for his sword.
Zelda stood up and walked over to him. She rested her hand on his to prevent him from drawing Double Helix "Shhh... It's okay. Joey, your safe now. So are Celton and Jacob. The Moblins were defeated and Dark left without a trace."
Joey calmed down and took his hand off of the handle of his sword. "Yeah... the coward is getting pretty good at running away without a trace lately mate." he said gruffly as he tried to stand up. Impa pushed him back down. "Not so fast. You took a pretty bad beating out there. Just drink this." she picked up the cup she had put the herbs in earlier and haned it to Joey.
Joey made an unwilling face as he looked down at the fowl smelling green liquid in the cup. He looked back at Impa and then glared. He took the herbs before he had a chance to change his mind. It tasted more horrible than Joey had expected but only seconds later he didn't feel as sore or hurt as he had before. Acutally, he felt a lot better. He smiled "Thanks mate." he said as he stood up, this time Impa didn't stop him. He could hear Jacob and Celton in the other room. "Can I go now?" he asked Impa with an arched eyebrow.
Impa smiled a little "We should all go."
Zelda nodded "We still need to discuss the Midnight Crystal."
    ***
Jacob glared. "You could have at least told us before now." he said to Celton.
Celton leaned against the wall with his arms folded. He looked away from Jacob. "Look, I dont have to explain myself to you okay?" he said darkly.
Jacob ignored his comment, "How do I know Joey and I can trust you at all?"
Celton's gaze snapped from the window to Jacob, he looked furious which was rare sight on Celton. He stepped away from the wall and looked at Jacob square in the eyes "I dont know. Maybe Renado should have asked you the same question." he said darkly.
Jacob drew a breath to answer him but was interrupted when the door opened. Both boys looked to the door to see Joey walk in followed by Impa and Zelda.
Joey saw the looks on both Jacob's and Celton's faces and felt a little awkward "Woa... are we interrupting mate?" he asked.
Immetiately both Celton and Jacob calmed down and smiled at least half way. "Nope." Celton said shortly as he leaned against the wall again, crossing his arms across his chest.
Jacob nodded "We were just discussing what to do next. Impa what were you saying about the Midnight Crystal?"
Impa sighed "I was hoping you three would just forget it. Men have lost their lives in search of the crystal."
Jacob nodded "We understand but it may be the only chance to having an advantage over Dark."
Celton added "And we stand a better chance of survival while we search for it if you help us out a little."
Impa sighed and finally gave in. "Like I said earlier, it was given to my family to protect and so my family has done for nearly three generations. But it's not like we just keep it with us all the time. The Crystal is hidden and has been for many years. It's possible that there is no one left alive that knows where it is anymore."
Joey hung his head "So how are we supposed to find it now if no one knows where it is?"
Impa shot Celton and Zelda a hesitant glance before she answered, "Like the clue said, the opposite of the hero can find the Midnight Crystal. None in my family know where the Crystal is but Dark Link was also destined to be able to find the Crystal."
Celton frowned and looked at Impa "But why Dark Link?" he asked suddenly.
Joey nodded in agreement and said "If the Midnight Crystal is so powerful then why would they put the knowlege on where to find it in the hands of Ganondorf's most trusted assasin? I dont know if Ganondorf is the same in your dimension but he was pretty power hungry where we're from mate."
Celton scoffed and looked at Joey "Same here. But just because Dark Link was Ganondorf's Assasin doesn't mean he didn't have his own life and responsibilities to worry about."
Jacob looked at Celton "Oh really? Then why dont you enlighten us, Celton?" he asked with an arched eyebrow.
Celton shot him an annoyed look and then looked at Impa. "You're sure that theres no other way to find the crystal without using Dark Link's expertise?"
Impa shook her head "Sorry Celton I dont know any other way. To find the Crystal is a high cost for you... just as much as your friends. Are you still sure you want to go through with this?"
Celton hesitated before he looked at Jacob and Celton, they both nodded. "We dont have any other choice." Jacob said.
Joey looked a little lost. 'Why were Jacob and Celton arguing earlier? Whats going on...?' he thought to himself anxiously.
Celton nodded and walked over to the window.
Zelda looked a little worried but she spoke up anyway, "Then you should probaby introduce yourself to your friends."
Celton laughed sarcasticly, "Well the surprise was already ruined for Jacob but why not for Joey's sake." When he turned around to face the group again his eyes were not blue anymore. There irises of his eyes were a very dead black. "My name is Celton, and in the language of an ancient shadow tribe called the Midnight Children that name is translated to 'Dark Reflection'."
Zelda sighed and looked away. She hadn't heard Celton call himself that since the defeat of Ganondorf.
Celton ignored Zelda's reaction and then finished speaking, "I am Dark Link."
Joey's jaw dropped. Jacob however didn't look suprised at all.

    Chapter 10: Dark Lineage

Joey looked over at Jacob, mouth still open. “Did you know this mate?”
Jacob shrugged. “Not until recently. I found out before the Moblins attacked. That power that Din gave me.” Jacob turned his head to Celton. “How did you find out?”
Celton said, “A while back. I won’t go into details because of how much time we may have.” his eyes turned back to their clear blue, but Jacob could still see a hint of darkness in them. He’s like me.
“Well,” Zelda cut in. “Now you know Celton. Maybe you guys should head out.”
Jacob nodded. “She’s right. We should leave.” they walked out of the castle into the gate yard. There, the trio stood with Zelda.
“We have one problem mate.” Joey cut in.
    “What?”
“We still don’t know where the Midnight Crystal is. Where can the Heart of Worlds be?”
Zelda tilted her head, like she was thinking. “I’ve heard mention of that before. But I can’t think of where.”
Celton looked up at the sky. “I’m sure we can find it. It’s like what the Goddesses said. They wouldn’t choose us for this if we weren’t capable enough.”
Zelda hugged Celton. “Be careful.” she then turned to Jacob and Joey. “Tell the other Zelda not to worry so much.”
Jacob sighed. “She has a lot of reason to, coming from me.” Zelda waved and walked back to the castle.
“Well,” Joey said. “What should we do?” they all looked at each other, knowing one way to find out.
“I’ll see what the future can show me.” Jacob said, closing his eyes. He drew power from the crystal that Din had given him, feeling it envelop him. Dear Goddesses, show me what our future holds. Images began dancing inside Jacob’s head.
A dark crystal circling in the air… Dark lifting his sword up, laughing… Joey dangling from an edge, a dark whirlpool under him. He lets go…
“JOEY!” Jacob screamed in his mind. Another image forced its way to him. A dark temple sitting in the mountains. Jacob knew what was inside.
    “The Midnight Crystal…”
He opened his eyes to find himself looking up at the sky. Joey and Celton were looking down at him.
“Are you okay mate?” Joey asked, holding his hand to Jacob. Jacob grabbed it and pulled himself up.
    “Yeah. I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” Celton asked. “You look pale.”
Jacob nodded. Joey looked at him. “What did you see?” Jacob looked at his friend.
“I saw many things. I won’t say what they are. But I think I know where the Crystal is.”
Joey and Celton grew excited. “Really? Where is it?”
“Jacob turned to look up at the mountains. “Have either of you ever heard of the Shadow Temple?”

    ***

In Jacob’s dimension, Queen Zelda was sitting in her study when she got a weird feeling. Just as she stood up, a loud pop penetrated her ears and she saw Jacob and Joey in her study.
“Jacob! Joey! What are you…” Joey held up his hand.
“You talk to her mate. I have to get Celton.” he closed his eyes and the next second, Joey was gone. Jacob walked over to her.
“Queen Zelda. We need your help.” he pleaded.
“What do you mean?” just then, another pop sounded and Joey was back. But someone was with him. Someone who looked oddly like…
“Link?! I thought you were hurt?” Zelda exclaimed. But upon a second look, Zelda saw that it wasn’t Link.
“Zelda, this is Celton. He’s from another dimension.” Zelda turned to him.
“Dimensions? And how did you three get in here?” Jacob sighed and told Zelda about everything that was going on. Zelda fell into her chair.
“Dear Goddesses…” Zelda whispered. Jacob kneeled in front of her.
“Zelda,” she looked up. “We need to know. Where is the Shadow Temple?” Zelda’s breath caught in her throat.
“How do you know about the Shadow Temple?”
“Because that’s where the Midnight Crystal is. And we need it to trap Dark. You remember Dark.” It wasn’t a question.
“I remember Dark.” Zelda replied. She stood up and pulled out a map of Hyrule. Laying it out on the table, she pointed out Death Mountains.
“If your vision is correct, then the Shadow Temple will be here. But it is inaccessible. There is no pathway up there.”
Joey looked at them. “I can get up there. And we need Celton to get the Midnight Crystal. So that would mean…” he trailed off.
Jacob picked up where Joey left off. “That would mean that I have to stay here.”
Celton looked at Jacob. “Are you sure?”
Jacob nodded. “I’m sure. Look, you know where Death Mountain is. Go there and you should find it. Celton, if just looking for it doesn’t work, you know what to do.”
Celton frowned, and nodded gravely. “Just be careful Jacob. Dark may come to attack you. And we won’t be here for you.”
Jacob laughed and smiled at his friend. “I’m pretty sure I can take on my own darkness. Now, go. I’ll try to learn what I can about Dark and the Crystal.”
Joey grabbed Celton’s shoulder. “You ready mate?” Celton nodded and closed his eyes just as they disappeared into thin air. Jacob looked at where his friends disappeared.
Good luck friends. You will need it.

    ***

Celton opened his eyes to find himself looking down on Hyrule from a mountain top. He stepped forward and almost fell over if Joey hadn’t grabbed him.
“Thanks Joey.” Joey nodded and sat down.
“That wore me out mate. Let’s stay here for a bit to rest, then head out.” Celton looked out into the mountains. Somehow, he could feel the Temple drawing him. Hopefully, they wouldn’t have any trouble finding it.
“Mate.” Celton turned his head to see Joey standing up. He pointed out into the sky. “Look.”
Celton looked out to find storm clouds gathering all over Hyrule. He could hear thunder booming in the distance, but something about that thunder made Celton shiver.
“It must have something to do with Dark. We need that Crystal, and fast.”
Joey nodded and looked out with Celton. “Do you have an idea where it is?”
Celton called up Dark Link and spread his sense of being out over the mountains. He felt drawn east, so he pointed exactly where he was drawn to. Joey took his hand and they teleported.

    ***

Jacob sat down at the library and began searching all the books he could. As much as he searched, he couldn’t find out anything about the Midnight Crystal or Kaiden. After a few hours, he closed another book in frustration.
“I didn’t think it would be this hard to find something about Kaiden.” he said to himself.
“Kaiden?” a voice said behind him. Jacob spun around to find Impa behind him. He was shocked. In Celton’s dimension, Impa looked as old as he was, maybe a little older than him. In this dimension, she was older than his dad.
“Yeah. Kaiden. Do you know who he is?”
Impa nodded gravely and sat down next to Jacob. “That I do. I know more about him then I care to.”
Jacob was intrigued. “Can you tell me about him?”
Impa sighed and looked hesitant. “I could. But I must tell you young Jacob. What I have to say may never make you look at yourself the same.”
Jacob nodded at her showing that he understood, so she started. “As you may know, Kaiden is the God of Darkness. He was created around the same time as the Goddesses. While they sought to bring peace to what was Hyrule back then, Kaiden only sought destruction. So he tried to kill the Goddesses using what is known as the Mirror of Midnight. But the Goddesses managed to prevail and locked Kaiden away in a mortal body to live out the last of his days.”
Jacob nodded. “I already know all of this.”
“Well, as you may also know, Kaiden learned to pass his soul, what little of one he had, down through the generation of the mortal he had come to be trapped in. A part of him got free during the Imprisoning War. You may know this.” Jacob was confused.
    “What do you mean?”
Impa looked out the window, then back at Jacob. “What I am about tell you, are you sure you want to hear it?” Jacob nodded. “The body that Kaiden was trapped in… is your ancestor. The piece of Kaiden that got free during the Imprisoning War was Dark Link.”
“Wait. You mean…” Jacob’s eyes went wide. Impa nodded.
“Kaiden was trapped in your lineage, Jacob. He is more like you than you ever knew.”

    ***

Celton and Joey stared in awe at the entrance to the Shadow Temple. The very air surrounding it seemed to burden the hero’s with a certain thickness. Celton looked over at Joey.
    “Are you ready Joey?”
Joey looked over at him. “Ready when you are mate.” they started walking towards the entrance when Celton stopped. “Mate, are you alright?”
Celton blinked. His eyes went from their bright blue to very dark, lifeless eyes. He stared at Joey with empty eyes. “Yes. I am fine. Let’s go.” he started walking into the temple. Joey stood back, afraid.
    What is wrong with him?

    Chapter 11: The Forgotten Path

Celton and Joey stepped into the Shadow Temple to find that it was locked by a pair of large black doors. Celton shook his head, trying to stay focused. He knew being this close to the dark was dangerous for him and it was also dangerous for Joey if is darker half took control. His eyes returned to their normal color and Celton held his palm to the door, there was a soft clicking sound and then the two gates swung open wath a loud rumble of steal against stone.
Joey and Celton walked inside and walked into the center of a very large room. The door closed automatically behind them. The two of them took a few cautious steps inside. Celton stopped suddenly. Joey ended up taking three more steps before he realized Celton had stopped and he turned around "Hey... you ok mate?" he asked. Celton was looking around with an unreadable expresson on his face.
He didn't answer immediately which made Joey kind of uneasy. "Celton?" he said again. Celton took his attention off of the room and back onto Joey. "Oh... sorry." he said distantly.
"Are you alright mate?" Joey said again. "We dont have to go any farther for a moment if you need to stop."
Celton shook his head "It's not that... it's just that I feel like I've been here before."
Joey shook his head "I doubt it mate. This place isn't exactly your dimension anymore."
Celton shrugged "Well tehcnically part of me wasn't born in my own dimention." he pointed out. He shook his head "Nevermind... it's probably nothing I just feel a kind of sence of Deja Vu when I look around here."
Joey nodded "We should get going mate."
The two of them walked firther into the temple.
    ****
Jacob sighed "Well I guess that explains a lot." he said though he frowned. Impa sighed "I'm sorry Jacob."
Jacob shook his head "I... just need some time to think." he said as he stood up and walked outside. Night was falling outside, he ignored the storm clouds. He heard a dark chuckle behind him, quickly drawing the Master Sword Jacob whirrled around to see Dark standing behind him, leaning against the wall with his arms folded. "Difficult, isn't it? Knowing that we aren't so different after all."
Jacob shook his head "I'm nothing like you." he said darkly.
Dark laughed "Are you really so sure about that?" he stood up straight and pulled his sword out just in time to block an attack from Jacob. He kicked Jacob in the chest sending him staggering back again. "You've killed innocent people, you've caused a near disaster through Hyrule. You just need to face the facts, Jacob. The only true 'hero' in your little group is Joey. Evil runs in your family."
"You're wrong!" Jacob said as he threw himself at Dark again, his blade raised to kill.
Dark was taken by suprise by the attack and only barely managed to dodge it, rolling across the grass. He stood up with inhuman speed and attacked Jacob. The two of them exchanged blows and blocks at lethal speed, neither of them going even a little easy on the other. "Enough!" Dark screamed suddenly. Lightning appeared in the sky and the wind picked up very fast and hard right at Jacob. Jacob was blown off his feet and hit the ground hard. He looked up at Dark, thinking that this was the end. But Dark only grinned, "You want proof? I'm sure Dark Link would be willing to provide it."
Jacob stood up, picking up the master sword he ran at Dark again, but Dark disappeared just before Jacob's sword would have cut through his head. Jacob tripped and fell forward, the Master Sword flew from his hand and impailed the ground a few feet in front of him. "Aaaargh!" Jacob screamed furiously, hitting the ground with his fist.
    ****
Joey and Celton walked into one specific room on the Temple and Celton put his arm out to stop Joey from falling down an unseen cliff. "Oh... thanks mate." Joey said. "Wow... all this teleporting is really wearing me out." he said tiredly.
Celton nodded "I think we're almost there. Do you need to stop?"
Joey shook his head "We're wasting time mate." he said as he started walking again. Celton nodded and then he spread his conciousness throughout the temple, looking for where the Crystal could be. He walked over to one of the walls and rested his palm against it's cold stone surface. An upside down golden triangle appeared on his hand.
Joey watched Celton, wondering what was going on. Celton's eyes turned a cold lifeless black again. Joey could feel in the air something evil was near "Um... Celton?"
Celton looked at Joey in one quick jerky motion of his head. There was a very cold look in his eyes, almost lifeless. The black in the irises of his eyes traveled to make dark rings under his eyes as well. His knuckles were white due to how hard he was holding on to the handle of his sword. "Woa!" Joey took a staggering step backward, reaching for Double Helix instinctively.
Celton didn't seem to notice Joey's presence anymore though. He turned his attention back to the wall "私に壁を開けなさい。 力がどこにあるか私に示しなさい。." Celton said.
Joey just stared at him, wide eyed as Celton's palm glowed with a black power and the wall fell to pieces with a loud crash. After a moment, Celton groaned as his eyes and countinence returned to normal. he looked at, looking a little confused. He noticed the shocked look on Joey's face and frowned "You ok?" he asked.
Joey's mouth hung open "Woa... what did... how did you do that mate?"
Celton looked confused until he followed Joey's gaze and saw the crushed wall. Then he shrugged "I have no idea."
Joey glared "You said something and then it crashed in on itself. What did you say?"
Celton shrugged "I dont know... I just kind of knew already what I was supposed to do. Wait- you didn't understand me?" now it was his turn to be surprised.
Joey shook his head "You went all scary and then you spoke in a language I didn't recognise." Celton glared "I told it to open." he explained. "I must have been speaking the forgotten language."
Joey looked really freaked out now "The what mate?"
Celton shrugged "It's hard to explain. Come on we dont have much time."
Joey nodded. Despite how freaked out he was, he still trusted Celton. The two of them walked through the opening Celton had created into a part of the shadow temple that has been hidden for years.

    Chapter 12: Heart of Worlds

Zelda walked out the front gates, carrying some papers with her. She heard someone of in the courtyard and decided to find out who it was. When she got there, she saw that it was Jacob.
    “Jacob?” he looked up.
    “Zelda… I.. I don’t know who I am anymore.” he whispered.
She set her papers down. “What do you mean?”
“Impa just told me about my ancestors. Zelda, Dark is me.”
Zelda was confused. “Dark is you?”
Jacob nodded. “When Dark tried killing the Goddesses, they trapped him in a human body. MY ancestor! He is me!” Jacob screamed.
“Jacob, calm down.” she put her hand on his shoulder. “While that may be true, he is not you. Jacob, your family has proven through out the years that they are not evil. Dark was only a being trapped inside of you. But now he is not.”
Jacob continued looking down at the ground. “Why our family though? What was it about us?”
“I can’t tell you that Jacob. But I can tell you that Joey and Celton need you.”
Jacob looked up at Zelda. “Yeah. I think you are right. I just… I thought we knew our enemy. But with that, something has changed.” he stood up and looked out at the mountains.
    Hurry guys.

    ***

Joey stayed close by Celton as they walked down the abandoned walkway. Weird drawings lined the walls that seemed to shift and change. Celton didn’t slow down once, causing Joey to walk faster just to stay with him.
They came to the end of the hallway, which was blocked off. “Mate, I don’t think this will work…”
Celton smiled, his eyes going dead black once again. That is creepy. Joey thought. “Don’t worry Joey.” he placed his hand on the wall, which disappeared, showing an empty room. They walked through it.
Joey looked in awe at the room. They were in a huge cavern. The pathway they were on was suspended in the air, with a huge drop below them. A huge, dark whirlpool lay at the bottom, which seemed eager to swallow them whole.
“Look.” Celton said, pointing at the center. Joey looked to see what Celton was pointing at. A huge stone tablet stood erected, which glowed with black light. Celton walked forward with no worries. Joey walked slower though, watching out for anything. Celton reached the tablet and looked it over.
“It says the same thing that Renado told us. The Crystal could be found in the Heart of Worlds. But this can’t be it.” he looked over at Joey for answers, but found him standing at the edge of the platform.
“Celton…” he whispered. “This is where the Crystal is, mate.”
“What makes you say that?” he walked over beside Joey, and found what he meant. The walls of the cavern seemed to be alive with pictures of fields, mountains, and just about everything else.
“This truly is the Heart of Worlds.” Celton turned back to the stone. “Which means the Crystal is here!!”
Joey looked at him. “But we can only find it at the Dawn of Midnight mate. How do we know when that is?”
Celton thought it over. “I have no clue.”
A chuckle appeared. “Of course not.” Joey drew Double Helix, while Celton drew Guardian Soul. They looked around, trying to find who said that. The chuckle appeared again.
“Feeble Hylians.” a wind swam past the hero’s. when it died down, Dark stood next to the stone tablet. He had his sword drawn and he smiled at the two. “Did you really think you would find the Crystal before me?”
“You will not win Dark.” Celton whispered. He threw himself at Dark, where they stood with swords locked.
“JOEY! Find the Crystal! I’ll hold him off!!” Celton shouted. Dark pushed the sword aside and sliced at Celton, who managed to avoid it. He brought his sword up, but Dark blocked it. Celton started giving ground around the platform while Dark followed him, attacking at Celton. It took the hero everything he had to block the attacks.
Joey ran to the tablet, but something blasted him back. I can’t reach it. Wait… Joey closed his eyes. When he opened them again, he was in front of Jacob and Zelda. Jacob looked down at him, and jumped.
“Joey!” Joey staggered to his feet.
“Mate… we… we need you…” he whispered. Joey grabbed Jacob’s hand and before Jacob could protest, they were in the temple again. Joey fell to the floor, gasping for air. Jacob knelt down beside him.
“Joey! Why did you do that?” Jacob asked. Joey looked up at him. He mumbled something that Jacob couldn’t hear. “What did you say?”
“He said,” someone said. Jacob couldn’t believe what he heard. He stood up slowly and turned, drawing the Master Sword. Celton stood next to Dark, smiling. His eyes were their dead blackness. “That you needed to help me. But why should you help me?”
“Celton. What is going on?” Celton smiled.
“I’m doing what is best for me. What is right.” he started walking towards Jacob.
“What is right for you and what is right for all the dimensions survivals are two different things.” Jacob commented back. He pointed his sword at Celton.
“It will be right.” he lunged at Jacob, swinging his sword. Jacob blocked it and knocked Celton back.
    “Celton!”
Dark laughed. “You’re not talking to Celton!”
Jacob looked at Celton to Dark. He knew what was going on. “Dark Link.” he whispered.
“Exactly. What a happy family reunion!” Dark said, laughing.
“Family reunion?” Joey asked, staggering next to Jacob.
Dark smiled. “You don’t know, do you? Well, let me explain.” Dark held up his hand and stared at it. “When I attempted to kill the Goddesses and they locked me in that despicable mortal body, they put me in the most interesting body.” he pointed at Jacob. “He put me in his ancestors body, the first ever Link.”
Joey looked at Jacob. “So that means…”
    Jacob nodded. “He is me.”
    “Yes, and so is Celton.”
    Joey looked confused. “Celton?”
Celton/Dark Link walked forward. “Yes. You see, I am a part of Kaiden. Or, as you know of him, Dark.” Celton walked beside Dark. Dark looked up at the Cavern walls.
“The Dawn approaches.” he looked at Jacob and Joey. “Soon, I will have the Crystal. And I will destroy you!”
“Wait,” Jacob cut in. “What is the Dawn of Midnight?”
Dark smiled. “When midnight comes in every dimension at the same time, that is the Dawn of Midnight. All the dimensions intersect at the same time, causing the Crystal to give enough light to be seen.”
Dark stepped forward. “Not that it matters. You will be dead long before then.” he held his sword up. “Your future ends here.” Celton/Dark Link stepped next to him.
Jacob looked at Joey. “It’s you and me. Are you ready?”
Joey smiled. “Ready as I can be mate.”
