    Hey there! This is my second story here on the site. The first one, Dolphin Girl I never finished due to lost of intersts, however this next story I'll gaurantee you, you'll get intersted in it. Just give it some time. So I'm Hoping all of you will check back here often. This story is the story I had in a dream last year in eigth grade. Everything in it is basicly exact copy of that dream. This dream appeared in multiple dreams almost like a series. I'm putting it on here in a full story. since having this dream I have added onto it in day dreams. Hopefully I'll add onto it. Due to a dream being rather short, it's not full story material. I've had to add onto it some. So this is Inbetween.

    Inbetween is the story of a girl name Nicole. The story opens up of Nicole basicly saying how she got this special power. It happened back in eigth grade. The chapters then go into third person. The story is very intesting. I hope you'll enjoy it...

    Introduction…

    I’m not your typical basic Girl…

    No I’m just someone different. I guess I’m somewhat normal, but I’m not. Now and then I look normal, but at night and when needed, I’m not normal. The way I am now I haven’t been like that my entire life. It all started a few years back. When I was in eighth grade to be exact. I’ll never forget the events that unfolded then.

    Chapter I

    “Nicole!” Kate yelled running down the hall at Westington Middle School. Nicole was leaning against the wall outside the school library. She turned and looked down the hall hearing her best friend Kate unbalance run smack the floor hallway. Echoing through the halls. Nicole pushed off the wall and turned to face her out of breath friend. Kate was tall, one of if not the tallest girl in 8th grade. She was in good shape, but now and then if she didn’t focus on herself at times she can run out of breath quickly. She had long blonde hair. Kate had large brown eyes. One thing though about Kate was she was a little heavy. Not so much fat, but muscular. Nicole was the exact opposite. She was medium height to all the girls in school standing about five feet four inches. She had short brown hair, and was skinny with no body strength. She wasn’t the healthiest person in the world neither. She wasn’t a physical fit person, but she was skinny and that was all that mattered to her. She had large greenish hazel color eyes. Nicole looked at Kate.

    “So what’s exactly up?” Nicole asked her.
    “Someone’s at your locker, she seemed really dark, and I know how you are with all the dark kind of people.” Kate told her. She looked down the hall and heading down the hall was a skinny, pale, long black haired girl.

    Nicole looked at the girl. Her eyes locked with the girl’s eyes. The girl slowly approached them. Nicole crossed her arms and looked at the girl.

    “That’s her Nicole!” Kate exclaimed.
    “So your Nicole Lee. My name is Abigail.” The girl told them. “I’m new here at school, you must be my locker partner, since I overheard what your friend has said.” Abigail sad to them.

    “Ok, so where’d you move from?” Nicole asked the new girl.
    “I didn’t move anywhere, I lived here my entire life. However, I was homeschooled living more so up in the mountain with my parents before my grandparents took me in.” Abigail said. Nicole looked at the girl.
    “Oh that’s I guess pretty-“ Nicole began saying before the bell rang. “Oh, it’s pretty cool, I better head to English.” Nicole said. She picked up her books on the floor outside the library door. She headed down the hall. Kate looked at the new girl and hesitantly and quickly walked away.

    Nicole turned into her English class and got a very odd look from Mr. Kelly. Nicole took her seat in the third row second seat in. She put her books on the desk behind her. When she turned around she was surprised. Her eyes widened upon seeing who she saw. The new girl, Abigail. Nicole was puzzled on how the new girl could have gotten to class before her when she left before the new girl, and on how she got there being new to the school. She looked at the girl.

    “Oh so you’re in my English class, that’s cool. I think we’ll be getting to know each other very well.” Abigail said to Nicole.
    “Ummm, yeah, very well…” Nicole said nervously.
    “Good afternoon, class.” Mr. Kelly walked in saying to the class. The late bell then rung.
    “Good Afternoon, Mr. Kelly.” The class said in harmony. Nicole didn’t though.
    Nicole looked at Mr. Kelly and saw something was bugging him. Nicole didn’t know if she should say anything or not. She looked to her left to see another good friend of hers.
    “Hey Eric, does something seem different about Mr. Kelly?” Nicole asked him. Eric looked at her.
    “No, not really, seems the usually English teacher.” Eric said. “Why?”
    “I dunno, just something seems different today. Never mind though.” Nicole said. She looked up at Mr. Kelly. He began to write on the board. His hand was shaking she then knew something was up.

    After the 45 minute class was up student got up out of their seats and charged for the door to head home. Nicole wasn’t one of them. She got up and walked up to Mr. Kelly. He was sitting at his desk and had his head buried in his hands. His elbows leaning on the desk. Nicole looked at him.

    “Mr. Kelly…? Are you ok?” Nicole asked him. He glanced up and he perked up seeing Nicole. Obviously putting on an act.
    “Yes, Nicole. Why might you ask? I just have a lot to do today. I guess I’m a little stressed out.” Mr. Kelly said. He smiled to assure her. Nicole wouldn’t usually fall for that but decided she had to get to lunch instead. She looked at him giving him a little concern face. Mr. Kelly just smiled.
    “Go ahead to lunch, Nicole, I’m ok.” Mr. Kelly said. He stood up and walked over to the door with Nicole. Nicole headed down the hall. She was very unsure about how Mr. Kelly was acting. She headed into the cafeteria and sat down with her friends.
    “No lunch?” Nicole’s one friend, Red asked. Nicole shook her head.
    “No, don’t you get enough food already Red, to be asking for my food?” Nicole asked. Kate who sat down next to her couldn’t but help to break out into laughter.
    “I see make fun of the fat kid, well we’re going to rule the world one day.” Red said. He laughed to. Everyone else at the table to turn and looked at them. Eric had his eye brow perked.

    “Same old same old, what are all of you staring at?” Nicole asked. They all shrugged.
    “Hey Nicole.” Nicole turned around seeing Abigail. Nicole looked at her. Abigail smiled at her. Nicole blinked. “Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friends?” Abigail asked. Nicole looked at the others. Kate looked at her.
    “Well, you know Kate, that’s fat boy Red, Eric, Ally, and Dawn.” Nicole said. Everyone just nodded as a greeting. Kate elbowed Nicole. Nicole looked at her.
    “Hey Nicole, maybe you should show Abigail around the school.” Kate said. Nicole looked at her.
    “Oh would you, I’d be thankful.” Abigail said smiling.

    Chapter II
    Nicole looked at everyone. They all felt the same way Kate did earlier about Abigail. Nicole turned around to face her.

    “Well right now I need to eat lunch, so…” Nicole began to say.

    “Then I’ll sit with you.” Abigail said.

    “NO!” The group yelled except Nicole when she went to sit down. Nicole looked at her.

    “Maybe you should find someone else to sit with Abby.” Nicole said. She looked and saw Abigail’s face tense up. She looked at Abigail’s eyes, they glowed green. Nicole felt her eyes widened.

    “Don’t call me Abby. Nicole I want to sit with you, if I must then, you come with me and sit.” Abigail said. Nicole stood up she felt she couldn’t control herself at the same time she could.

    “I’ll talk to you guys later then.” Nicole said. She was confused. She felt she had no choice but to sit with Abigail. She followed Abigail to the library. Abigail walked over to the table in the far corner. It near all the encyclopedia aisle. No one sat over there. Nicole looked at her.

    “I’m very grateful for you sitting with me, Nicole Lee.” Abigail said. Nicole watched Abigail as she pulled out a small sewed pouch and got out an apple. Nicole looked at the apple and for a minute she could see through it. Her eyes went wide, but she then blinked and it was normal.

    “Ummm yeah, no problem.” Nicole said. Nicole looked at Abigail. “Listen Abigail, umm don’t take this the wrong way, but who exactly are you?” Nicole asked her. Abigail looked at her.

    “Well I’m Abigail, nothing much to it.” Abigail said.

    “Well it’s not really what I mean, but-“ Nicole began to say as the bell rang. Nicole stood up and started to leave.

    “Nicole, are you going to go say goodbye to Mr. Kelly?” Abigail asked her.

    “Huh?” Nicole looked at her. She grabbed her books and without saying anything else she left. She looked and saw an ambulance in front of the school. She also saw students crowded around Mr. Kelly’s room. Nicole walked over and saw Mr. Kelly unconscious.

    “What happened?” Nicole asked.

    “He had a heart attack, no one knew he had it and he died in his own room.” A student said. Nicole looked at Mr. Kelly. She pushed through the crowd to get to him. She looked at the ambulance doctors.

    “He may not be dead yet, we’re going to try to save him.” The one ambulance doctor said. They hurried down the hall and put him on the ambulance. Just as quickly as Nicole found out Mr. Kelly may be dead, the ambulance left.

    Nicole headed onto history. She ended up falling asleep in that class. She was worried for Mr. Kelly. Mr. Kelly was one of her favorite teachers. As she heard the bell ring in her head she woke up to find Mrs. Boterton staring down at her.
    “Miss. Lee.” Mrs. Boterton said.

    “Yes?” Nicole asked her.

    “Excuse her, Mrs. Boterton, Nicole is under a lot of stress right now.” Abigail was behind Mrs. Boterton sand said. Nicole looked at her, her eyes glowing.

    “I guess then you’re right, hurry along to your next class.” Mrs. Boterton said. Nicole got up and glanced back at Abigail. Abigail smiled and followed Nicole out. Nicole hurried. She got to Spanish. A class she wasn’t with Abigail. Nicole looked out the window then up at the front of the room to see her Spanish teacher speaking Spanish. Nicole didn’t process the words, just watched her read to the class in Spanish.

    Soon Spanish was over with, and the end of school bell rang. Students ran to get to their buses. Nicole climbed onto her bus to see in the parking lot, Abigail. She was riding an old antique sort of bike. Her bag on the back of her bike riding off. She rode off into the woods. Nicole took her seat to see Casey sit down in front of her on the bus. Casey was her friend. He was in seventh grade though, a year younger. Nicole looked out the window. She felt her heading hurting and massaged it.

    When the bus got to Nicole’s stop she got off and headed on home. She sighed and before going in her house stopped and looked up the street. Up the street were the old train tracks. The train tracks don’t function anymore, due to a modern station being built and closing up that route to trains. She looked up at them. Kids and teens alike hung up there. No one was there though. Nicole headed on inside getting greeted by her mother like usual. Nicole just waved and hurried up the steps and got to her room. She went in her room and she looked on her wall.

    “Do not go to school tomorrow, or you will die, Miss. A. J. Lessen.” Nicole read a message written on her wall in blood “MOM!” Nicole yelled seeing it. She ran down the steps.

    “Mom! There’s blood on my wall!” Nicole said frantically. Her mother looked at her. They hurried upstairs. She looked inside to see nothing.

    “Blood, huh? I don’t see anything.” Her mother said. She walked away. Nicole looked at the wall and walked over to it. She sat down.

    “I’m still dreaming, I know it.” Nicole said. She smacked her head to feel it was really hot. She was running a fever. She looked at her open year book on her bed and saw Mr. Kelly’s page opened up.

    “I’m just worried, that’s all.” Nicole said. She fell back on her bed and looked up at the ceiling.

    Nicole soon woke up hearing her mother call her for dinner. She sat up her head was pounding.

    “No thanks, mom, I’m not really hungry, I’m going to go ahead to bed now.” Nicole yelled down.

    “Ok, there won’t be anything later on then.” Her mother called up. Nicole closed the door and picked up her laptop. She opened it up. She began to research ghosts on her computer.

    “Ghosts can only be seen with a camera. Wait a minute… some ghosts can appear as humans during the day, at night they’re their normal forms, during the day you can see their appearance by taking a picture of them.” Nicole read aloud. Nicole got up and went over to her drawer and pulled out the camera. “I don’t like the fact she knew what was going to happen before it happened.” Nicole said aloud. She crawled into bed.

    About 3am Nicole woke up hearing wind outside blowing against the side of the house. She looked on her wall seeing the tree branches shadow from outside coming in from the window. She saw out of the corner of her eye though a man. Standing at the edge of her bed. Not any man though, Mr. Kelly. She looked and no one was there. Nicole sat up and looked around her room. She went back to sleep.

    Chapter III
    “Ok, so let me see if I got this straight. You think Abigail is a ghost? Now I feel creeped out when I’m around her, but now I think you’re nuts.” Kate exclaimed.

    “Yeah, Nicole even if she is a ghost, how is she going to feel about you taking a picture of her?” Red asked her.

    “Well then I’ll just tell her I’m sorry and I guess still be friends with her.” Nicole told them. She put her camera away.

    “Hey look, there’s Mr. Kelly’s sub.” Eric said pointing to an old lady. The lady was old. She was tall wearing an old outfit like you would see old English ladies wear in Disney Movies. Her hair was up colonial kind of style as well. Nicole looked at her.

    “Now I’ve seen some bad hair styles, but nothing like that.” Dawn pointed out.

    “That actually used to be really in, back in the early 1900’s in England.” Nicole said.

    “Since when have you become the history genus, don’t you have like an F in history?” Kate said.

    “Actually, I know a lot about history, and I have a C because I don’t have time to do homework.” Nicole said.

    “Come on though the bell for English is going to ring soon.” Eric said. Nicole nodded.

    “Hello!” Everyone jumped and turned to see Abigail smiling.

    “Hi… hey weren’t you wearing that yesterday?” Eric asked Abigail.

    “Yes, it’s my favorite outfit, plus my family doesn’t have that much money for good outfits, so I have this outfit. I wear it everywhere, to school, public, church, and to funerals.” Abigail said. Nicole’s eye began to twitch.

    “Okaaay…” Nicole said she was freaked out about the funeral. She looked at everyone else seeing they were just as surprised. Nicole, Eric, and Abigail headed off to English. Eric headed to his seat.

    “Hey Abigail, can we switch seats for class, just for today?” Nicole asked Abigail. Abigail shrugged.

    “Sure thing.” Abigail said sitting down in Nicole’s seat.

    “Good afternoon class. I’m Mrs. Lesson.” The sub said. Nicole looked at the sub. It sounded familiar to her. She then remembered the wall.

    “Weird…” Nicole whispered.

    “Excuse me, Miss… Miss. Abigail.” The sub said.

    “Umm actually I’m Nicole Lee, Abigail and I switched seats because Eric and I couldn’t get along.” Nicole said.

    “Well then Miss. Lee, would you like to share with the class what is so weird?” The sub said.

    “Oh did I say that too loud, no I’m good.” Nicole said.

    “Hmmm, very well. Class, I’m here for the rest of the school year due to the tragic accident your English teacher went through.” The sub said. Nicole slugged down in her seat. Just what she needed, a reminder of what happened to Mr. Kelly. She pulled out her camera. She looked at Abigail. She was hesitant about taking her picture. When the teacher turned around she took the picture. The teacher and Abigail turned around.

    “Nicole… what are you…?” Abigail said. Nicole glanced at the teacher’s face was mad. Nicole looked at the picture. The picture was nothing but white.

    “Why you!? No cameras in my classroom!” The teacher yelled.

    “Run, Nicole.” Abigail said her eyes glowing. Nicole got up and did run. She threw the camera into the boys’ bathroom when she ran past it. She ran out the door and kept on running towards the woods. She ran into the woods. Before she knew it she was at the abandoned old train tracks. She turned around to see the sub teacher. Her appearance different though. Her skin was pale. Her clothing was ripped and old. Her eyes glowed. Her hair had small strands sticking out everywhere. She wasn’t even out of breath for running and being an old lady. She looked at her and backed up some. Nicole heard a train whistle and saw a train go back behind her. It was somewhat invisible. A ghost train.

    “Nicole Lee! Give me the power, or die!” The teacher yelled. Nicole backed up more.

    “What are you talking about?” Nicole asked her.

    “The power!” The teacher yelled again. Nicole couldn’t back up anymore.

    “DIE!” the teacher yelled and launched at her. Nicole was pushed back and hit by the ghost train. Unknown to be dead or alive. Her body laid there on the tracks.

    Hey I created a blog for the story so you can keep up to date here, and if you want on the blog. Here however I won't be adding all the extra stories after finishing this one, it's the main story, not the short stories and stuff following. The link is below...

    Inbetween

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``
    Chapter IV
    Nicole slowly opened her eyes but then closed them. All she saw was a bright light. She had them closed tight as she began opening them again. She looked around the room she was in. The nurse was looking at her and dropped the notes in her hands.
    “Doctor! She’s awake!” The nurse called. Many nurses and a doctor ran in. Nicole looked at all of them.
    “She was alive.” A nurse said.
    “Someone call her mother.” Another nurse said.
    “Her mother!? Someone call the news!” A nurse said.
    “Now calm down, let’s focus, we need to make sure she is awake and her body’s functioning correctly.” The doctor said.
    “Nicole, Nicole, Nicole, do you know who you are? Do you know who you are?” The doctor said talking to her like she was a baby. Nicole closed her eyes again.
    “Where… where… where’s Abigail, Eric, Kate, Dawn, Red…” Nicole said very weak like.
    “Ok those were her friends.” The nurse said.
    “Yes I remember seeing Kate, Eric, Dawn, Red, Kylie, and Nikki here visiting her. I don’t remember an Abigail though.” A nurse said.
    “Those are my friends…” Nicole said. “Where…. Am I?” Nicole asked them. The nurses looked at her.
    “You were hit by a car and suffered a major concussion putting you in an instant coma. You’ve been asleep for two months now.” The doctor said.
    “We thought you were dead, your friends and family insisted that we keep you hear until everything started wearing away.” The nurse said. Nicole stared at the nurse confused somewhat of what she said.
    “Remember, Lilly, we need to be slow with her.” The doctor said.
    “I need to talk to Mr. Kelly.” Nicole said.
    “Wasn’t that the-“The nurse said?
    “Yes.” The doctor said. “Mr. Kelly isn’t around anymore. You can’t really talk to him, he’s dead. He died when he saw us actually pull your bed into his room. I think he was surprised to see you, especially how beat up you were. He died from a heart attack then.” The doctor said. Nicole looked at him.
    “You’re lying…” Nicole said. The doctor shook his head. “No he’s alive! I know it!” Nicole yelled. Her head then began to hurt. She was too weak to move but she closed her eyes shut tight.
    “We’re sorry Nicole, but he is indeed dead.” The doctor said.
    “We’ll let you rest, when your mother get’s here we’ll let her come in.” The doctor said as the nurses and doctor left. They closed the door behind them. Nicole sighed and looked up at the ceiling.
    “Told you not to go to school.” A voice said. Nicole’s eyes widened.
    Chapter V
    “Abigail…” Nicole said very weak. Nicole walked over to the side of Nicole’s bed and looked down on her. She crossed her arms.
    “Father, Nicole is awake.” Abigail said aloud.
    “I know that, her spirit left the Inbetween world.” A man came walking through the wall. Nicole looked at him and tried to crawl up and away. The ghost walked over to her. He looked down on Nicole. She was scared.
    “I guess you were right when you said you’d be scared.” Another man walked through the wall. It was Mr. Kelly.
    “Mr. Kelly…!?” Nicole almost yelled before Abigail grasped Nicole’s mouth shut.
    “Shhhh…. You’ll give them away.” Abigail told her. Nicole looked at her then at Mr. Kelly.
    “The doctor said you were dead.” Nicole said.
    “The term we prefer you use is passed away.” The ghost man said. Nicole looked at him.
    “I did die.” Mr. Kelly said.
    “You’re standing right here, unless I’m seeing things.” Nicole said.
    “Yes, I’m standing here, yes I’m dead, and no you’re not seeing things. I’m an Inbetween now.” Mr. Kelly said.
    “A what?” Nicole asked him.
    “An Inbetween, I’m also an Inbetween, so is my daughter Abigail. Surprisingly you’re not.” The ghost man said.
    “An Inbetween?” Nicole said confused.
    “Someone dead waiting to move on. You can say it this way; we’re waiting for our boarding passes to come in the mail so we can move on to heaven.” The ghost man said.
    “We’re also the here to help our love ones still living on Earth. Inbetweens are also people who were knocked out in a coma like you. Except when they wake up they forget they were an Inbetween, like you.” Abigail said.
    “I was an Inbetween?” Nicole asked. Mr. Kelly nodded.
    “That’s why Abigail never came visiting you here at the hospital, she just went to the Inbetween world and visited with you there.” The ghost man said.
    “And you are?” Nicole asked the ghost man.
    “My name is of no importance, many call me Chief though.” The ghost man, Chief said.
    “Chief, ok, ummm, can you hand me that vase and smash it on my head so I wake up.” Nicole said.
    “You’re not dreaming.” Chief said.
    “Then why’d you appear to me?” Nicole asked him.
    “We need your help. You see, now that the bad Inbetweens here on Earth know that you know that they’re different and that my daughter was different they have to kill you. You also have the ability to feel us; you know how to determine our human selves from our dead selves.” Chief said.
    “You have a normal self?” Nicole asked him. Chief shook his head.
    “Only a few do. I don’t, Mr. Kelly doesn’t, and my daughter does. That’s why she was able to re-attend school.” Chief said.
    “Re-attend?” Nicole asked.
    “It’s a long story, but my family died 100 years ago. I was about 14 years old. We went to the Inbetween world. My father was chosen to become the leader of the Inbetween world, basically like the mayor. My mother however her soul split. Her evil became leaders of the evil Inbetween. They’re the bad people basically on Earth. They have to earn their way to heaven. They don’t go to hell or anything. My mother’s good part of her soul became an angel and moved on. I could have gone with her, but I decide to stay with my father. My father was able to get me the ability to be human while dead.” Abigail said. Nicole perked her eye brow.
    “It’s a long story on how we did that. Another thing though, the evil Inbetweens are going to be after you to get other powers that rest in your body. No one knows what they are; all Inbetweens just know it’s there.” Chief told Nicole. Nicole looked at him.
    “You’re all nuts. So am I though, but-“Nicole was saying when her mother was heard outside her door.
    “Abigail go. We’ll talk to you later Nicole.” Chief said as Abigail and Chief disappeared.
    “Don’t worry; I’m still new at all of this, so I’m not leaving for a while.” Mr. Kelly said as he ran at the wall. He hid in the wall. Nicole could feel him. Nicole turned and looked at the door to see her friends and mother come rushing in. She also saw her little brother walk slowly in playing his Nintendo DS. Nicole rolled her eyes at him and looked at her friends.
    “Nicole! You’re awake!” Kate yelled.
    “We were so worried!” Kylie, another friend of Nicole said.
    “You have no idea how worried.” Nikki said. Red and Eric stood off to the side smiling.
    “I’m ok, I don’t stay down long.” Nicole said.
    “Except in gym class doing push-ups.” Dawn said as the group broke out into laughter.
    “Not cool!” Nicole exclaimed.
    “Are you ok, Nicole?” Her mother asked hugging her. Nicole hugged her back and nodded.
    “My head hurts some, but I’m fine.” Nicole said. Mr. Kelly watched in his hidden little spot. He was crying even know he was dead. Nicole could feel he was upset. She glanced at the wall where he was hiding and looked concerned.
    “What’s up Nicole?” Kate asked her.
    “Oh nothing, just trying to think of what happened. I can’t remember at all getting hit by a car.” Nicole said. They all looked at her.
    “When you just randomly ran out of the room and out the door you ran out onto the street right in front of the car. Your head was bleeding and your body was laying in this huge puddle of blood, it was really gross, it’s strange that you lived, but we’re not complaining.” Eric said.
    “Why did you run out the door?” Nicole’s mother asked her.
    “The teacher was after me, and Abigail told me to run.” Nicole said. “She was right though, I’m glad I did run, who knows what would have happened…” Nicole said.
    “You would be fine, not having a major concussion, and not be in a coma for 2 months. Instead you’d probably gotten detention for taking a picture of the teacher and a student who is camera shy.” Her mother said.
    “No I would have been killed!” Nicole exclaimed. “I can prove it; did you boys see my camera by any chance?” Nicole asked them. Red nodded.
    “It was in the guys’ bathroom. You took a picture of your fingers.” Red said showing her the camera. The white was a pinkish of her fingers. Nicole looked at it.
    “Oh…” Nicole said.
    “For running out of the school you ended up getting in school suspension anyways.” Nicole’s mother said.
    “Luckily they counted it in your coma.” Kate said. Nicole closed her eyes.
    “Sorry…” Nicole said. Her mother looked at her and sighed.
    “How about you get some true rest tonight, I have to get everyone back for dinner anyways.” Her mother said. Nicole waved o her friends as they all left the room saying their own good bye. The minute the door closed she sighed and closed her eyes.
    “They won’t understand it will they.” Nicole said. Mr. Kelly walked out of the wall where he was hiding. He shook his head.
    “No, not till they all die they won’t.” Mr. Kelly said. Nicole sighed.
    “I’m going to keep getting chased now though, meaning I’ll never be safe nor will they. Plus I’ll have to return to that school with that sub of yours. Wait, who is that sub?” Nicole asked sitting up.
    “That’s Abigail’s mother’s bad side.” Mr. Kelly said.
    “Wait wouldn’t that mean she’d go after her own daughter?” Nicole asked. Mr. Kelly shook his head.
    “No, Abigail when she uses that power disguises that she really is, Miss. Jennifer Abigail Lessen.” Mr. Kelly said.
    “Miss. Jennifer Abigail Lessen, so that’s what she meant by she warned me.” Nicole said.
    Chapter VI
    “That is what she meant.” Mr. Kelly told her. Nicole nodded and yawned. “Tired?” He asked her. She nodded.
    “Just a little.” Nicole said. She looked to see he was upset. “What’s wrong?” Nicole asked him.
    “I miss living I guess, I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, I can’t talk to my family, I can only talk with you and Inbetweens, and I can’t really do anything.” Mr. Kelly said.
    “Oh… I got an idea, maybe like in that ghost movie when I fall asleep you can take over my body and stuff.” Nicole said. “I’d let you.” Nicole told him. He shook his head.
    “It’s too risky.” He said. Nicole looked at him and sighed.
    “Well then I just won’t sleep, I’ll feel weird being able to sleep and my English teacher watching me sleep.” Nicole said.
    “Haha, you always do know how to make a person laugh, dead or alive. You get some sleep though, the dead can’t be injured the living can, they need to sleep to recover. The dead have no reason to recover.” Mr. Kelly told her. Nicole smiled.
    “I guess that’s 1, 1, tie.” Nicole said. She got under the covers and closed her eyes. Mr. Kelly leaned against the wall and smiled. He closed his own eyes. About a minute later he shot them open. He looked around.
    “NICOLE GET UP!” He yelled. Nicole shot up as she saw Mr. Kelly fly through her and into the wall. She blinked then a second later saw two ghost people. Mr. Kelly and someone else. Mr. Kelly was under the other one though.
    “You’re a pathetic new Inbetween.” The man said.
    “Mr. Kelly!” Nicole said.
    “Get out of here!” Mr. Kelly exclaimed. Nicole didn’t budge. She looked around. She looked at the camera. She focused it on the man and took a picture.
    “AH!” The Inbetween man said. He turned and looked at Nicole. His body looked like it was on fire.
    “You brat delete the picture!” The man yelled. Nicole looked at the picture to see a body with clearest white smoke around it. The body was also whitish clear.
    “Take another picture; it hurts Inbetweens unless the picture is destroyed.” Mr. Kelly said. Nicole took another one when suddenly she felt hands around her throat choking her.
    “Ahhh…” Nicole said. The door went flying open. The doctor came running in and was looking at Nicole who was grasping her throat. The doctor couldn’t see the Inbetweens. They were all quite. The one choking her backed away. Nicole looked at them.
    “Are you ok?” The doctor asked her.
    “Yeah, my throat just hurt there for a while.” Nicole said.
    “I’m good, I’m going to go to bed, I may have a nightmare, and hospitals creeps me out but ignore me.” Nicole said. The doctor smiled and left. Nicole quickly dodged when the Inbetween tried to choke her again. Nicole took a picture of the two evil Inbetweens. Mr. Kelly stood up and looked at them. He was holding his arm.
    “Are you ok?” Mr. Kelly asked her. He looked at the other Inbetweens as they disappeared.
    “Me, are you ok?” Nicole asked him. He nodded.
    “The only things that are bad for an Inbetween In which we should recover are camera which kills us and fights with other Inbetweens. However, we have a quick recovery without sleeping.” Mr. Kelly said. He saw Nicole was worried though.
    “Don’t worry, I’m fine.” He told her. She nodded. She got back in bed. She couldn’t sleep though.
    “Mr. Kelly, where is the Inbetween world?” Nicole asked him.
    “It’s right here and a magic world. Technically there’s many Inbetweens right here but sort of in an alternate dimension.” Mr. Kelly said. He turned to see a familiar face.
    “She’s getting all the teachers I see.” Nicole turned to see her science and homeroom teacher Miss. Marx. Nicole looked at her.
    “She died a month ago.” Mr. Kelly said.
    “Hi Nicole.” She said. “Even know I talked to you yesterday.” She said.
    “Very funny.” Nicole said. Mrs. Marx laughed.
    “So what were you saying many teachers?” Nicole asked her.
    “Well the bad Inbetweens apparently want something with the school, so far all the sixth grade teachers are gone, 3 in seventh grade, then us 2 for eighth graders.” Miss. Marx said. Nicole was surprised by that.
    “The other weird thing you’re the only student who’ve been attacked by the Inbetweens, yet once a week or more a teacher dies. The school is thought to be the cause so right now it’s closed. Who knows what will happen.” Mr. Kelly said. Nicole looked at them.
    “So what are you saying, the evil Inbetweens are after kids?” Nicole asked them. Mr. Kelly and Miss. Marx nodded. Nicole sighed. “They’re going to go after the parents.” Nicole said.
    “That’s what we think.” Miss. Marx said.
    “So you both talked to me without me truly knowing, what did I say?” Nicole asked them.
    “Ummm got to go.” Miss. Marx and Mr. Kelly said then disappeared. Nicole sighed.
    “Not cool.” She said crossing her arms.
    Chapter VII
    A week later Nicole was released from the hospital. Since the first day she hasn’t seen Mr. Kelly, Miss. Marx, Chief, or Abigail, she knew though at night they guard her, she could feel them. Nicole sat silently in the back of the car and was looking out the window.
    “Has school let back in yet?” Nicole asked her.
    “How’d you know about the school being closed?” Her mother asked. Nicole forgot she found out from Mr. Kelly and Miss. Marx.
    “I saw it on the news.” She said. Nicole looked out the window.
    “Everyone is still out, they had to move everyone around the school out, more people were dying, as is government officials are there looking for a cause from all the deaths.” Her mom said.
    “That’s why we’re staying with grandma and grandpa.” Jake, Nicole’s brother finally said. Nicole looked at him.
    “Great…” Nicole said. She wanted to figure out why everyone was dying herself. They pulled in the rocky driveway. She looked up towards the giant house. Nicole got out of the car and headed up the stairs. She had crutches but she didn’t use them. She was greeted by her grandparents hugging her.
    “Sorry we couldn’t come visit you.” Her grandmother said.
    “That’s ok.” Nicole said. “I think I’m going to go walk around, it’s been a while since I’ve last stood up.” Nicole said. She went walking down the trail. She walked through the woods. She stopped though and turned around.
    “What are you doing?” Nicole asked her brother. He stopped in his tracks and looked at her. Nicole then realized it, she could feel him. She looked around.
    “Hey Jake, umm do you-“Nicole said still looking around. It was coming from Jake. She could feel the living now as well. “Hey what are you doing?” Nicole asked him.
    “Wondering what you were doing? You’ve been weird since you woke up from your coma.” Jake said.
    “How so?” Nicole asked him.
    “In multiple ways, the way you knew things before we did. The way you’ve been having quote more nightmares, and-“Jake was saying
    “Shhhh, for a sec.” Nicole said. She looked around. “GET DOWN!” Nicole yelled pushing Jake down as an Inbetween came swooping over. It grabbed Nicole’s angle. She went and kicked but she was dragged.
    “Let go!” Mr. Kelly came swooping down. He tackled the Inbetween.
    “Go Nicole.” Miss. Marx said. Nicole stood up.
    “Jake go!” Nicole told him. He laid on the ground scared. “Jake!” Nicole yelled at him
    “Both of you!” Mr. Kelly said.
    “I can’t see anything but I hear voices, and you do. Wait do you see things to?” Jake said. Nicole looked at Mr. Kelly but then was tackled by an Inbetween.
    “Yes, yes I can, they’re the reason people have been dying, there’s good and bad.” Nicole said trying to get the Inbetween off her.
    “Your, what!?” Jake exclaimed. He stood off to run off.
    “Jake!” Nicole yelled after her. She got the Inbetween off her and she stood up and looked at him. “You can’t tell anyone.” Nicole said. Jake looked at her then ran off. Mr. Kelly and Miss. Marx were able to get them away. Nicole stood there and looked at them.
    “Thanks.” Nicole said. She sounded upset. They both look at her.
    “He probably won’t tell.” Miss. Marx said. Nicole nodded.
    “Yes he will.” Nicole said. They looked at her.
    “Well look at the bright side, you discovered more of your secret powers, you can feel humans and Inbetweens and even fight and touch Inbetweens.” Miss. Marx said.
    “It however means they can get you easier.” Mr. Kelly said.
    “It most certainly does.” Chief appeared saying.
    “Great, meaning my family, friends, and myself are in more danger.” Nicole said.
    “Unfortunately yes, but if we can figure how to use this at an advantage then we’re good.” Chief said smiling at her. Nicole looked at him.
    “Hey where’s Abigail?” Nicole asked him.
    “She’s at home and stuff.” Chief said.
    “Oh… Inbetween world, correct.” Nicole asked him. He nodded.
    “You know I think we should try to see if you can enter the Inbetween.” Chief said. Nicole blinked.
    “Huh?” Nicole asked.
    “Yeah.” Chief said. “Why not?” Chief asked.
    “Listen, even know that sounds cool, I’m good.” Nicole said. “I need to see what damage my brother done.” Nicole said. She ran off. She got up to the house.
    “And I fell, and she was laying on the ground-“ Jake was saying when Nicole walked in.
    “Yes it’s all true, I-“ Nicole began to say when they looked up at her.
    “We both slipped and fell.” Jake said. “So that’s how I’m scratched up.” Jake said. Nicole looked at him.
    “Well then, luckily you went to tell us what happened, luckily to she was ok.” Her mother said. Nicole sat down on the couch.
    “Yep, now I think I’ll play the Wii.” Jake said.
    “Mind if I join you?” Nicole asked him. He looked at her. She could see the scared look in his eyes.
    “I guess…” Jake said. Nicole followed him up. She closed the door behind them. He turned on the Wii then turned up the volume. He turned around and faced her.
    “Is that why you’ve been acting weird, you can see invincible people, what are they? Ghosts?” Jake asked her. She shook her head.
    “Sort of, they’re called Inbetweens. They’re dead ghost like creatures waiting to go to heaven, there’s bad and good Inbetweens. The ones that attacked us were the bad ones, but the good ones came in and saved us. I know the good ones who did; they were actually teachers of mine who have died. According to them, the only teachers seen so far as Inbetweens.” Nicole said.
    “I didn’t know this but I poses a power to see Inbetweens, and feel Inbetweens and humans. I have more powers; I don’t know what they are though.” Nicole said. “I also actually died once, but came back. I’m not dead, or an Inbetween, but alive.” Nicole told him. Jake looked at her.
    “So you’re like some ghost whisper.” Jake said,
    “I guess, more so an Inbetween whisper.” Nicole said. She looked and in the corner was Abigail.
    “Dad told me, that you wanted to see me.” Abigail said.
    “Whoa…” Jake said. “How’d you-“Jake began to say.
    “She’s an Inbetween; she’s one of the special few who are able to be seen like a normal human to humans.” Nicole said. “I guess I worried not hearing from you in a week.” Nicole said.
    “Well I thought you would hate me, I had control over you but it was over when you woke up.” Abigail said. Nicole shook her head.
    “I guess you say it that way, I should be, but at first I was wrong of you, never got to know you, but now I do.” Nicole said. Abigail looked at her.
    “I guess I was a little weird.” Abigail said.
    “Hey you died in like 1923.” Nicole said.
    “Earlier then that. I died during the influenza.” Abigail said.
    “The what?” Jake said.
    “The influenza of 1918.” Nicole said.
    “Wow then she’s like, 100 years old.” Jake exclaimed.
    “104 years old actually, I died when I was 14.” Abigail said.
    “You know I bet we can get you more modern, then school you’ll be modern.” Nicole said.
    “I’m not going to school again, Nicole, I can’t re-attend. I’m considered a freak already.” Abigail said. Nicole looked at her and sighed.
    “Ok, your choice.” Nicole said.
    Chapter VIII
    “Yeah, sorry.” Abigail said. “Anyways, we want to see if it’s possible to get you past the gate.” Abigail said. Nicole looked at her.
    “Past the gate?” Nicole asked her.
    “Inbetweens can bring humans to the Inbetween world if that human knows they have loved ones who are Inbetweens.” Abigail said.
    “Meaning the human needs to know the Inbetween is there.” Nicole said. Abigail nodded.
    “They can even see the Inbetweens. They just can’t go past the gate.” Abigail said. Nicole looked at Jake.
    “I’ll try with my powers to get there, but can Jake go, he kept a secret that’s big and I’m sure hard, I think he should see what the Inbetweens are like and stuff.” Nicole said. Jake looked at her then at Abigail. Abigail smiled.
    “I’m sure I could do that. You first need to see and feel how to get there, both of you grab my hands.” Abigail said. Nicole walked over to Abigail and grabbed her hand Jake grabbed her other hand. Nicole and Jake appeared on one side of a crowded gate and Abigail was on the other side of a crowded gate. Nicole looked around and at Jake.
    “Look at this place.” Jake said.
    “EVERYONE BACK UP!” An Inbetween yelled .The gate began to open when a huge assembly of people walked in.
    “They’re all dead.” Abigail said. “This is where we test if you can get in.” Abigail said. Nicole ran into the gate. She felt a shock but she got through. Jake went to follow but got knocked back. He stood up and walked over to the gate.
    “You got in, why can’t I?” Jake asked.
    “Part of my powers I guess.” Nicole said.
    “LIVING!” An Inbetween yelled. Nicole turned around to see Inbetweens backing away. They soon ran off. Nicole looked at Abigail.
    “Humans have done harm to them in the past.” Abigail told her.
    “Everyone calm down. She’s our guess.” Chief appeared.
    “New Death!” The gate opened. Nicole looked at the open gate. Someone stood in front of it their front all blood.
    “Kate…” Nicole said. She then saw Dawn. Dawn was actually Kate’s twin sister. Nicole looked at Kate whose chest was obviously shot, Dawn looked beat up. They ignored her and walked in. Nicole looked at them. They walked slowly.
    “They can’t see or hear you till they become Inbetweens.” Abigail said.
    “But they can’t be dead.” Nicole said. She ran out at the gate and stood in front of them. They walked right through her. They both stopped and turned. Nicole looked at them.
    “They’re looking for you.” They both said. They kept walking.
    “Who is!?” Nicole yelled.
    “The dead teachers.” They both said. Nicole’s eyes widened.
    “Wait! You can’t be dead…” Nicole said.
    “They may not be dead, Kate is, and Dawn has a chance.” Abigail called. “I better get you two back.” Abigail said. She ran to Nicole and Jake and they appeared in Jake’s room. Nicole gripped her hands into fists.
    “I had enough of-“Nicole began to say as a gunshot was heard and a scream, in the house.
    Chapter IX
    “Jake hide now.” Nicole said.
    “What about you?” Jake asked.
    “I don’t care hide.” Nicole said. Abigail heard footsteps coming up the steps. Nicole could feel them.
    “They’re half Inbetweens and human.” Nicole said. She had Jake hide in the attic. There was an entrance in the closet. Nicole went to follow him but the door knob turned. She closed the door and went to find a new hiding spot. The next thing Nicole knew is she heard a gun and her chest hurt. She fell to the ground grasping her chest.
    “Nicole!” Abigail yelled. She quickly disappeared. She appeared right as Nicole stood in front of the gate. She had Jake with her. Jake looked around.
    “How I…. is that…” Jake said.
    “Nicole!” Abigail yelled. She walked forward.
    “Nicole!” Jake yelled. Dawn and Kate stood at the gate now themselves, dead and knocked out though. They shook their heads. Chief appeared and his face was blank even know his face already pale, he was paler than usual. Nicole entered the gate and it lit up. Abigail turned away from Jake. Jake was crying and wanted to stop Nicole. Once Nicole made it past the gate she fell to the ground and punched the ground.
    “I tried.” Nicole yelled. Mr. Kelly and Miss. Marx ran to her aid.
    “Nicole…” Jake said. The gate closed and he ran to the gate. Nicole looked to see her brother standing on the one side. Abigail walked over next to Nicole. Nicole stood up and looked at him. Her face was blanked.
    “I’m sorry…” She told him. Jake closed his eyes shut.
    “There’s got to be some way you can come back.” Jake said. Kate and Dawn looked at each other and at Jake.
    “Unless you go get some help, she’s going to die laying in your room.” Dawn said. Nicole grasped the metal bar of the Kate. Her fingers that went through the gate were pale and white. On the Inbetween side of the gate she looked normal.
    “I’m sorry, I’m sorry everyone.” Nicole said. Chief shook his head.
    “There’s only one way she can return back and if she’s lucky. If she’s the chosen guardian.” Chief said.
    “We already know she isn’t though, father.” Abigail said. Chief nodded.
    “I know…” Chief said.
    “Meaning I’m stuck here basically for forever.” Nicole said. She fell to the ground. She put her head against the metal gate.
    “Jake head on back, call the police and help whoever else is up there, they aren’t dead yet. I’ll see about meeting you up there.” Nicole said. Abigail looked at Nicole. She sighed.
    “If you go up there, you’re guaranteed dead.” Abigail said.
    “I need to help my family, if that’s so then, so be it.” Nicole said. Abigail looked at Jake and grabbed his hand through the gate and he appeared in his room. Jake ran downstairs.
    Jake ran downstairs to find his family knocked out. He saw that his mother was shot in the shoulder but ok. She was on the floor with the police.
    “Nicole’s dead…” Jake said. Nicole’s mother looked at him and hung up. Her face was white.
    “Are you…. Are you sure?” Her mother asked. He nodded. She then broke out into crying.
    Chapter X
    “Nicole was a good daughter, a good student, and a dear friend to many. She had suffered a lot leading up to her death, she was unaware of two of her best friend’s death, I’m sure all three of them are together. Probably looking down on all their friends…” Nicole’s mother spoke at Nicole’s funeral. Unaware to no one, standing behind Nicole’s coffin, was Nicole. The dead Nicole, the Inbetween Nicole. She was looking down at her body.
    “It’s weird isn’t it?” Kate appeared whispering. Nicole looked over at her best friend, Kate’s coffin. Kate was brushing the hair off of her dead body.
    “I guess it is; I never ever thought I’d be at my own funeral let alone, dead at 14.” Nicole said. Kate nodded in agreement. Nicole went to lean back on the wall when she fell through the wall. Kate hurried over and caught her hand pulling her up.
    “You need to focus when you’re about to lean on something or touch something in the living world. Everything, but the floor.” Kate said.
    “I know, I just feel like I need to fall. Nicole looked over at her mother now crying giving her death speech. Nicole wanted to walk over there and hug her but she couldn’t.
    “Funeral people.” Kate whispered in Nicole’s ear. Nicole looked and both girls back up and remained very silent. The men picked up Kate’s coffin first and carried it out a door into a funeral car. It was going to be taken to the grave. All of the people there for Kate followed it. They pulled away. Another group came back for Nicole’s. Nicole watched hers. She saw her mother walked over. She stepped forward to grab a hold of her mom, but Kate grabbed her and held her back. Everyone was gone except Abigail who was sitting with Jake. Nicole walked over to them.
    “He can’t see you.” Abigail said. “Jake she’s in front of you.” Abigail whispered in Jake’s ear. Jake looked ahead. He couldn’t see her at all.
    “How’s it like?” He said even know he felt like he was talking to nothing. Nicole sighed and leaned back on a chair this time not falling through.
    “How’s it like living?” Nicole asked. Jake’s eyes widened. He knew she was there.
    “The same old same old, there’s been more deaths now though. Abigail says none of them appear down in the Inbetween world.” Jake said. Nicole wanted to just nodded.
    “That’s right.” Nicole whispered.
    “I’m sorry, you should have gone and hid-“Jake began to say before he saw his mother walk in.
    “Come on, we’re heading to the cemetery.” Their mother said. Abigail stood up.
    “We’ll meet you there Jake.” Abigail said. She looked at Nicole who was watching her little brother leave.
    “You know what I find strange, is the minute you get cool powers and die, he actually cares about you.” Kate said trying to change the mood.
    “It’s not helping Kate.” Nicole said. Abigail looked at Kate. Kate at Abigail then at Nicole.
    “Nicole… you can’t be like this forever, we all die…” Abigail said.
    “Yes, but many people are dying because I couldn’t stop those other Inbetweens.” Nicole said. Abigail looked at Nicole.
    “Come on. It’s usually good luck to be able to be there for your burring.” Abigail said. She closed her eyes. So did Kate. The two of them disappeared. Nicole stayed there leaning against the chair.
    “I know how you feel now.” Nicole said. Mr. Kelly came walking out of his hiding spot in the wall. He looked at her.
    “Sorry…” He said. Nicole shook her head.
    “It’s not your fault.” Nicole said. “If it’s anybody’s it’s mine. I should have never taken that picture, should have stayed home when Abigail told me. I shouldn’t have kept digging deeper into something I’d probably never be able to handle.” Nicole said. Mr. Kelly looked at her.
    “Everyone is gathering, you should probably go.” Mr. Kelly said. She shook her head.
    “I won’t be able to.” Nicole said. She turned around. She turned to see a white door. Nicole couldn’t stop herself moving towards it. She walked through it. Mr. Kelly stood there amazed.
    Chapter XI
    “OWW!” Nicole said banging her head off the top of something. She felt around her low ceiling. She was in her coffin. She was alive. She banged on it when she felt herself shift. She banged her head off the coffin. She rubbed her head.
    “Man, I wonder what bodies go through in these rides.” Nicole whispered.
    “Hey! Let me out!” Nicole yelled. She saw light open up. Not any light though. She was up, in a hospital, again. She saw doctors all around her. A blinding light shining down on her. She felt her eyes closing.
    Three hours later Nicole woke up and found herself in a hospital room. She saw her mother holding her hand her face buried in the hospital bed.
    “What happened?” Nicole asked her.
    “You were shot in the side, if a little more to the right you would have been killed.” Her mother said.
    “What!? How’s that possible, but I was dead. I was in my coffin. I banged my head, and…” Nicole was saying. She saw sitting down Abigail and Jake. She went to sit up but felt pain in her side.
    “Remember you just got surgery there, you won’t be able to sit up for a while. I’m going to be right back, Jake you can come or stay.” Her mother said. Jake shook his head.
    “I’ll stay here.” Jake said. She nodded and left. Abigail stood up.
    “You came back to life, you’re lucky we were able to change time so it didn’t reveal all of us.” Abigail said.
    “So I was dead then.” Nicole said laying in bed crossing her arms.
    “Yeah…” Abigail said laughing.
    “I’m still confused; I don’t get any of this.” Jake said.
    “You’ll get in one day Jake.” Nicole looked to her side.
    “Let’s face it; it’ll take him a while.” Nicole said. Kate walked out of the closet, except she walked through the door.
    “I guess you’re right.” Kate said.
    “I don’t get how I came back to life; I just saw this white light door and couldn’t stop myself to go through it. The next thing I remember is being in the coffin a bright light.
    “It’s very confusing, I don’t even get myself, but my father was able to do it. He found basically a life ring to bring you back.” Abigail said.
    “Well thank you Chief.” Nicole said.
    “You’re welcome.” Chief said appearing. Nicole nodded.
    “Ok how many Inbetweens are actually in this room?” Jake just asked.
    “Well Mr. Kelly is hiding in the bathroom wall. Kate is on my right side. Abigail of course is at the foot of the bed with you. Her father, Chief is standing behind her. Oh and Miss. Marx is sneaking up on you.” Nicole said.
    “WHAT!?” Jake exclaimed turning around. He felt his arm go through her feeling the coldness.
    “Nicole, ruin the fun of scarring the little kid.” Miss. Marx said.
    “Sorry, man I wonder what would have happened if you didn’t die and had him as a student that would be a funny year. I’d come visit you every day when I’m in high school.” Nicole said.
    “Well we’ll all be looking over you more often meaning I’ll still be able to scare Jake here.” Miss. Marx said. Nicole smiled. She looked at everyone in the room.
    “How’s Dawn?” Nicole asked Kate.
    “She’s good you should see her. She knows she’ll end up losing her memory of being knocked out in the Inbetween world, but she doesn’t want to forget all the Inbetweens and how you died and came back to life.” Kate said.
    “Same old Dawn. Tell her she’ll probably remember or re-learn when she wakes up. If she’s near me at all she’ll remember.” Nicole said. Kate nodded.
    “Hey Jake, why not go keep your mom busy.” Chief said. Jake looked around and just looked up.
    “Ok.” He said. Nicole couldn’t help, but laugh. “What, I don’t know where he’s standing to be facing him.” Jake said.
    “Sorry…” Nicole said wiping away a laughing tear. Jake shot her a glare and left. Nicole looked at Chief. The minute the door closed she imitated him. Chief just shook his head.
    “Nicole, we have some serious matter, we have no more life support here or anything for you. You’re on your own now; we can only do so much, meaning you need to find all your powers quickly.” Chief said. Nicole looked at him.
    “How am I supposed to do that?” Nicole asked him. Chief just turned his back to her.
    “I’m not really sure myself Nicole.” Chief said. Nicole looked over at everyone else.
    “You’ll figure out something, Nicole.” Abigail said.
    “Yeah! We’ll be here to help.” Kate said.
    “Actually, I don’t want anyone helping me; I endangered too many people already.” Nicole said. Kate looked at her.
    “Is this about me?” Kate asked. Nicole nodded. Kate sighed. “You need to give that up.” Kate said.
    “It’s going to be bugging me; it’s going to be bugging me the rest of my short life span and beyond that.” Nicole said. Kate looked at her, but she couldn’t think of how to argue against Nicole’s reasoning.
    “Well, I got to go find Dawn, go save her from her misery.” Kate said. She disappeared.
    “Where is Dawn?” Nicole asked. Everyone looked at her. “Her body?”
    “It’s in the room next door.” Abigail said. Mr. Kelly and Miss Marx looked at each other.
    “Nicole, listen, we think we found all the teachers. Every one of us died at the death tracks, plus that’s how you were originally injured. Near the death tracks is an old cemetery, an old church, and even deeper in the woods an old steam textile mill along the river.” Mr. Kelly said. Nicole looked at them.
    “You think they’re there?” Nicole asked them. They nodded.
    “The minute I’m full health, if I have my powers or not, that’s what I plan on doing.” Nicole said. Everyone looked at her; they knew there’d be no way of changing it. They respected that and nodded at her.
    “We’ll assist you when the time comes.” Abigail said.
    “Before you go, Kate and Abigail go get the others I hate to endanger them, but we’ll need their help.” Nicole told them. They nodded.
    Chapter XII
    It was 4 days later Dawn woke up. She was moved into Nicole’s room. She couldn’t remember anything, but Nicole and Abigail talked to her explain everything that happened. She didn’t really believe it until Kate visited her. It was 3 days after she woke up, both Nicole and Dawn could head home. Nicole was ready. She was greeted by her actual home. Government gave up on it and just had the school closed. Nicole every night upon being home sat awake with Abigail and Kate. Now and then Mr. Kelly and Miss. Marx. She’d stay awake silent looking up at the abandoned train tracks.
    “We need to go investigate that place.” Nicole said. She turned and faced everyone, but Chief and Jake in her room looking at her.
    “Right now?” Mr. Kelly asked. Nicole nodded.
    “It’s now or never.” Nicole said. “There’s just something different tonight, I can feel it.” Nicole said.
    “Well…” Kate began to say. She looked at everyone else.
    “We were talking about this today; we believe it’s something at your school they want.” Abigail said.
    Nicole looked at her. She was confused.
    “At school? What could be at that school?” Nicole asked them.
    “Well, all of this land used to be a farm, the Westington Farm, also during the civil war this used to be an army training camp. Then before the farm and army training camp, this was just forest and woods, home to an Indian tribe. However this Indian tribe left nothing to prove to history they exist. It’s said they used magic to destroy everything hoping so they wouldn’t die, however they all ended up dying due to a terrible disease. Due to their magic it says they still roam this land in a hidden underground paradise, the pin point is up at the school.” Mr. Kelly said.
    “That’s what we think the evil Inbetweens are after, they get the magic Indians then they can do their plan, we don’t know what that is though.” Miss. Marx said. Nicole nodded and went to her closet, she began digging through it.
    “What are you doing?” Kate asked.
    “Could I have some privacy please?” Nicole said looking at all of them. They nodded and looked away when she went in the closet door. She came out wearing old pair of dark navy jeans and a navy blue sweat shirt. She pulled the hood up and picked up her navy blue gym bag and had stuff in it to help them.
    “I say it’s time we get to the action.” Nicole said. She made sure her door was closed and locked. Abigail flew through the door to make sure everyone was asleep and flew back. Since it was night for Abigail she looked like a normal Inbetween. Nicole hurried to the window.
    “Someone help me down.” Nicole whispered. Kate and Abigail went and helped Nicole. Nicole landed on her feet.
    “We’ll get everyone else and meet you at the middle school.” Mr. Kelly called down. Nicole nodded. Jake appeared at his window when Abigail helped him down.
    “Both of you go and wait for us.” Abigail said. Nicole nodded. She and Jake ran off.
    “So what Abigail told me is true, you guys really think there’s something under your school.” Jake asked her. Nicole nodded.
    “Yes.” Nicole said. She made Jake stop. “Get down…” Nicole whispered. Nicole looked over a bush seeing evil Inbetweens in the halls of the school; she could see their weak auras.
    “What are you looking at?” Jake asked.
    “I got another power; I can literally see the bad Inbetweens in the building.” Nicole said. Jake looked at her.
    “Stay here, I’m going to go ahead, I’ll come back if I find anything, when the others get here go with them, and be careful.” Nicole told him. Jake looked at her and nodded. She got up and ran over to the school. She snuck around to the back and found the art room window. She got out a pocket knife in her bag. She stuck it in the wedge of the window prying the lock open. She opened the window and climbed inside. She got down quickly and hid. She looked over at the door window. She went to move away when something grabbed her foot she almost yelled but kept quite. She looked to see a hand from the ground. It pointed towards the art closet. Nicole walked over to the closet and opened it up. Inside was a normal closet. She looked on the floor of the closet, there was a marble slate.
    “Don’t open it; they’ll be able to find us.” Nicole heard a whisper. It came from the slate. Nicole nodded. Nicole felt her friends coming. She stood up and headed over to the window. Jake pointed towards her and they all ran over. Nicole pointed towards the window. Kate’s eyes then widened. She pointed towards the door. Standing in the doorway was Mr. Catalone, her math teacher. His eyes were red his body was all white. Nicole backed up some. She looked at him.
    “Human!” He yelled.
    “Nicole get out of there!” Kate yelled. Nicole ran over to the door but more Inbetweens showed up surrounding Nicole. Kate, Mr. Kelly, Miss. Marx, and Abigail tried to get to her except they couldn’t get into the school.
    “AHH!” Nicole yelled. She fell to the ground. They lit a match and caught Nicole’s body on fire. They headed towards Jake. In a flash Nicole as an Inbetween showed up and was able to fly through the barrier and push them to the ground. She was thrown off and thrown at the chalk board; she flew through it though into the music room next door. She got up and ran back at the wall and stopped at the chalk board.
    “Nicole!” Abigail yelled. Nicole turned around to see an Inbetween push her to the ground.
    “Get off me.” Nicole yelled. She pushed the Inbetween off.
    “What’s going on?” Red who was with the group asked.
    “Nicole is dead, and an Inbetween fighting.” Kate answered even know Red couldn’t see her or any of the Inbetweens.
    “Get them out of here!” Nicole yelled to Kate and them outside.
    “Nicole!” Jake yelled. He looked and in a mirror in the corner he could see the Inbetweens, he could also see the Inbetweens standing near them. “Look!” Jake exclaimed pointing at the mirror. All the Inbetweens were clearest white with a white glow, the good ones were white, and the bad ones had a grayish glow. Jake, Red, Dawn, Kylie, Nikki, and Eric looked at the mirror seeing their best friend with an eerie glow laying on the ground fighting. There was an Inbetween on top. She looked over at them.
    “Jake, get inside and grab my bag and get my camera out before it burns and take a picture of the Inbetweens around me. Jake climbed inside and grabbed it.
    “Nicole! You’ll get killed yourself!” Mr. Kelly yelled.
    “Then so be it!” she yelled back to him. She struggled against the Inbetween. Jake didn’t know what to do. He aimed the picture so he couldn’t get Nicole in it. Suddenly the Inbetween pulled Nicole up into the picture. All the Inbetweens there began to burn. Nicole fell to the ground, feeling like she was burning. Jake’s eyes widened. He looked on the picture at Nicole who was all eerie in.
    “Nicole!” Jake yelled plus everyone else. They hurried inside as Mr. Kelly, Miss. Marx, Kate, and Abigail were stuck inside. Nicole worked her way over to the mirror so they could see her. She leaned against the mirror. They ran over to her.
    “How can we stop this?” Red asked.
    “If you stop it they’ll go and attack you, I’ll be ok, I don’t know where I go, but I’ll be ok.” Nicole said. Jake looked at his sister’s reflection in the mirror. He extended his hand and arm they were shaky. He swayed them through where Nicole was sitting. Nicole didn’t move just watched his hand go through her.
    “You’re burning up.” Jake said. The other did as well to feel, she was burning up.
    “That what happens when an Inbetweens picture is taken, majority of them burn up and burn away, but I’m sure Nicole won’t be, she’ll probably eventually cool down and move on.” Chief appeared. He knelt down next to Nicole. They could see his reflection in the mirror.
    “So will she be ok?” Jake asked. Chief looked at him.
    “I hope so, how are you doing Nicole.” Chief asked seeing her body was starting to fade away almost into nothing.
    “I feel warm.” Nicole said.
    “Nicole…” Kate said. She waved good bye to everyone outside and made sure she did to everyone around her so they could see it in the mirror. She then disappeared. Jake’s eyes were full of tears. He threw the camera at the chalk board and it broke. He fell to the ground. Kylie looked at him.
    “Where exactly is that place?” Kate asked.
    “Nicole found it, that’s why I hurried up and got here, it’s in the art closet.” Chief said pulling Kate, Abigail, Mr. Kelly, and Miss. Marx inside. All of Nicole’s friends and Jake stood up and looked over at Nicole’s completely burned up body.
    “I sure hope she’s ok…” Dawn said. Everyone else nodded.
    “Jake, break the mirror and grab a piece of the broken mirror so you guys can see us and all Inbetweens.” Abigail said. Jake kicked the mirror and it broke. He picked up a piece and could see Nicole’s face in it smiling at him then fade away. He began to cry. Eric and Red put a hand on Jake’s shoulder.
    “She’s ok. Maybe we’ll see her again one day.” Eric said. They hurried over to the location of the hole.
    Chapter XIII
    “We’re going to pull you guys through.” Abigail said. All the Inbetweens went through then grabbed all their feet and pulled them through. They were in a huge dark underground tunnel, however the weird thing was Jake, Kylie, Dawn, Red, Eric, and Nikki could see Kate, Abigail, Mr. Kelly, Chief, and Miss. Marx without the mirrors.
    “Whoa this place is like magic.” Kylie said. Eric nodded in agreement, They headed down through the tunnels soon opening up to a huge underground field, soft lush grass was on the ground a huge water fall and teepees. Everyone looked around amazed. Indians showed up and gathered.
    “Where is your chosen one?” The Indian chief asked Chief.
    “She’s gone; she has sacrificed herself to save us all.” Chief said. The Indian chief’s eyes widened and nodded.
    “This way please.” He said. The group followed him to a water fall.
    “Where is her body?” The Indian asked.
    “Burned, the others burned her.” Abigail said. The Indian sighed. He turned and faced the water fall.
    “Oh great spirits above us, give us a sign of the Inbetween chosen one being with us!” The Indian chief yelled out. The falls glowed and the water fall split. Floating in the split was Nicole’s Inbetween body unconscious. Her limbs and head just hung off the rest of her body.
    “So she’s not ok…” Jake said.
    “She probably is; her soul is empty because her spirit and soul combined and moved onto be the great spirits, maybe she’s one of the great spirits now.” The Indian chief said. Jake sighed. He picked up a rock and threw at the opening in the water fall. It flew through Nicole’s soulless Inbetween body. Jake looked at Nicole’s body when one eye opened being weak and she somewhat smiled then it closed and was gone. Jake’s mouth hung open.
    “Nicole!” Jake yelled and headed towards the water.
    “The water will kill him.” An Indian yelled. They grabbed Jake just in time as he continued to fight to get to Nicole. He looked at Nicole’s body as it weakly moved some again.
    “Jake… no… I’m ok…” She said very weak. Suddenly the ground shook some though and the water fall kept falling. Nicole’s Inbetween body fell into the water.
    “What’s going on?” Nikki asked grabbing a hold of a teepee.
    “The others are trying to get in.” Kate said. They looked around. Suddenly the evil Inbetweens fell from the ground and began to attack the Indians.
    “They’re all teachers!” Eric exclaimed.
    “All of you get out of here!” Mr. Kelly exclaimed. Jake looked back at the water. Red and Eric pulled him along. They ran up the path rocks and dirt falling on them. They jumped towards the dead end as a bunch of rocks fell. They were stuck.
    “Hahahahaha…” Laughter was in the air. Mrs. Lessen, the evil Inbetween leader, and Abigail’s mother’s evil side appeared. All the kids climbed back against the wall as far as they could.
    “So, are you all ready to join Nicole, unless Nicole completely burned up that is?” She said.
    “Or maybe I’m standing right behind you!” Nicole’s voice was heard. No one could see her.
    “How, where!?” Mrs. Lessen said. A whitish color orbed came flying out of nowhere at Mrs. Lessen. Mrs. Lessen fell to the ground, she looked terrified. Nicole then appeared her body glowing.
    “Leave my friends and brother alone.” She said. Her hands were in fist with whitish orbs surrounding them. Mrs. Lessen looked at Nicole and then flew past her. Nicole went to follow her, but turned and looked at the others smiling and crying tears of joy.
    “Nicole…” They said. Nicole smiled at them.
    “You’re ok, and back.” Dawn said. Nicole’s frown disappeared and she turned around.
    “Not quite.” She said then flew off after Mrs. Lessen. The wall collapsed and they ran down to the meadow. Everything was destroyed but everyone was ok. All the evil Inbetweens were gone for the moment. Nicole stood at the edge of the pond.
    “Are you sure?” Abigail asked Nicole. Nicole nodded.
    “I have to, I can’t stay here.” Nicole told them.
    “Nicole!” Jake yelled. He and all of Nicole’s other friends ran down.
    “If you’re going somewhere we’re all going with you.” Dawn said. Nicole looked at all of them. She smiled and shook her head.
    “Guys, I can’t, you guys still have a long life to live, my time was up, and that’s all.” Nicole told them. She smiled at them.
    “Maybe one day you’ll see her again, but it’s too soon.” Mr. Kelly said.
    “Nicole…” Kate said.
    “See ya.” Nicole said. She jumped back and went to go into the water when she was standing in the water. “I can’t go through.” Nicole said. She looked into the water, there was 100’s of feet below her, but she couldn’t go through and down.
    “Maybe it’s a sign that you're suppose to stay here?” Jake said. Nicole smiled at him.
    “Maybe…” Nicole said.
    Chapter XIV
    The grouped went upstairs to find the school empty and the sun was rising. Nicole leaned against the wall watching the sun rise outside the window.
    “So what are you going to tell mom.” Nicole asked Jake. Jake held up his mirror and looked at Nicole in the reflection.
    “That you’re gone, but not gone.” Jake said.
    “You’re seriously going to tell your mom about the Inbetweens?” Dawn asked. She looked at Nicole in the reflection of her small piece of mirror. Nicole nodded.
    “I have no choice, but to.” Nicole said. She pushed off the wall and stood up straight.
    “What if your mom tells the news, or asks for proof or something?” Kylie asked. Nicole shrugged.
    “Then I’ll tell her myself, plus Jake is going to give her a piece of the mirror.” Nicole said.
    “As long as she doesn’t say a word to anyone else, we should be ok.” Kate said. Everyone made Kate reflect in the mirror.
    “I’ll be going with Jake and Nicole as well to help explain things and about Nicole.” Abigail said.
    “The rest of us if they need more proof will be here at the school talking with the Indians below us.” Chief said.
    “I still think this is nuts, but whatever.” Eric said. Nicole nodded.
    “It may seem nuts, and no doubt it is pretty nuts, but it has to be done, I know I’d probably wouldn’t be able to get past my mom.” Nicole said.
    “Well we all better get home before we get yelled at.” Red said. Nicole nodded and waved good bye to them as they all left. Jake stood next to Abigail. Kate looked at Nicole.
    “You don’t have to tell her.” Kate told her.
    “I’m good, what could go wrong.” Nicole said.
    “Everything…” Kate said looking down.
    Abigail, Jake, and Nicole began leaving. Abigail and Jake walked ahead of Nicole talking. Nicole walked behind them some. She looked ahead and kept on walking. She stopped and looked at her hand. A car was driving down the road and drove through Nicole. Nicole saw out of the corner of her eyes the driver looking around. Nicole kept on walking. They soon got home. Nicole stood next to Jake and Abigail. Jake rung the door bell as their mother opened the door.
    “Thank goodness I found you, now where’s Nicole?” Nicole’s mom asked.
    “Mom we need to talk.” Jake said. Jake and Abigail followed Nicole’s mom inside. Nicole stood outside for a while and looked up at the house; she looked over at the tree and flowers. She then looked at the door. She walked through the door and upstairs. Her mother’s face was blank, she knew then Jake and Abigail told her. Jake and Abigail were sitting on the couch. Abigail looked over at Nicole. Nicole nodded to her as Abigail whispered in Jake’s ear. “Mom, she’s here.” Jake said. He pulled out the mirror he had in his pocket and walked over to her and held it up and reflected Nicole in it. Nicole stood there looking at her mother. Her mother didn’t look in the mirror though; she just stared down at the ground.
    “Mom…” Nicole said.
    “Leave my house now…” Her mother said. Nicole was surprised by that. Nicole stepped back some.
    “Go now you spirit, I’ve had to deal with Inbetweens before, they’re all evil, you too, you also leave, both of you leave.” Her mother said looking at Abigail. Abigail stood up and headed downstairs and opened the door. Nicole stood there surprised. “GO! Get out!” She yelled at her. Nicole looked at her.
    “Mom…” Nicole said again. Her mother grabbed the mirror and walked towards where Nicole stood looking in the mirror. She looked one last time in the mirror at Nicole whose face was now blanked and surprise.
    “Get out what are you doing just standing there?” Nicole’s mother said again. Nicole felt tears go down her cheek; they were ghostly tears but there. Nicole looked at her.
    “Nicole, if she refuses to accept then let’s go, we can at least trust her about our secret.” Abigail said. Nicole stood there and looked at Abigail. Nicole didn’t go though. She flew up. She flew up into the attic and sat down there, she sat there and cried. She couldn’t believe her own mother treated her the way she just did. Jake looked at his mother.
    “I can’t believe you!” Jake yelled then ran upstairs to his room and slammed the door close. Their mother went and sat down. She put her head in her hands.
    “They tried to get me before, I can’t trust you.” Nicole’s mother said. Abigail walked upstairs and sat down next to her.
    “It’s hard to believe, but majority of us Inbetweens are good.” Abigail said.
    “They attacked me before, they tried to kill me.”
    “Nicole would never do that, in fact she’d probably try to protect you, when exactly were you attacked?”
    “Last night, they said they were with Nicole, they said they were getting revenge for her, and they were going to kill me so that I knew how Nicole felt. I didn’t believe them, because I thought Nicole was asleep, I tried to get the door opened but it was locked. Then I ran to Jake’s bedroom and he was gone. I turned around asking them what they did with my son, they told me, it’s all part of Nicole’s revenge.”
    “The other Inbetweens did that, the evil ones, that’s why Nicole is fighting them; she had and still has special powers to fight them.”
    “I can’t believe I just yelled at my own daughter then, where she at?”
    “She’s upstairs.”
    Nicole’s mother ran upstairs and went to Nicole’s bedroom and went into her closet opening up the attic entrance she went downstairs and got the ladder. She climbed up into the attic and got out a flash light.
    “Nicole when I shine this light on you can you make a noise or something?” Nicole’s mother said. She shined the flashlight all around. When the light got to Nicole she looked up at her mother. She shifted her feet making a noise. Her mother crawled over to where she was at and sat next to her. She set the light down shining up at both of them. She got out the mirror and held it back facing them. Nicole had her knees up. She put her face back in her knees.
    “’I’m sorry Nicole, you should be mad at me, I know that, but I hope though you’ll forgive me, I should have listened to your brother and friend, even you, it’s just-“ Nicole’s mother was saying before Nicole talking.
    “I heard…” Nicole mumbled.
    “What?” Nicole’s mother said.
    “I heard.” She said looking up. She looked up at the mirror at herself and her mom who had a slight glow around her. Nicole looked at her mother.
    “You’ll learn one day what that is, and why I didn’t die.” Nicole’s mother said. She turned off the light and sat the mirror down. Nicole didn’t feel her mother there anymore, or an Inbetween, but a ghost. She looked over at her mother who was hard to see. Her mother wrapped her arms around Nicole.
    “You’re cold.” Nicole said.
    “You are too.” She said back.
    “Are you…?”
    “No, it’s part of a special power I have, maybe if you’re lucky you’ll get to experience.”
    “Mom, why then did you treat me like you did below, when you have your own power?”
    “Because I made a promise long ago not to tell anyone, not even the person I trust most in the world.”
    “I’m sorry, I’m sorry for not telling you sooner, I’m sorry for doing this all behind your back, I’m sorry for endangering myself-“
    “It’s ok Nicole, maybe we should go inform everyone that your dead, or should we wait?”
    “Go ahead and do what you think is fit.”
    Nicole closed her eyes. She stood up and looked across the attic entrance. She walked over to the exit. She turned and faced her mom, she was gone though.
