PM box

Hi everybody,I just thought I'd start this topic off.
Is it just me or are there lots of people pm'ing every person on the site and asking them to join there forum,this would not bother me if the person was respectable,had a decet non-spammy post count and I trusted them.However,they don't,they send these and then run away from this forum. I'll give some examples from my PM box.

Also,Kupo will hopefully back me up on this,but somebody else has sent me one for another KH site.

To combat this problem,I think you should have to get at least 5 posts for your pm box to open.

Also while we're on the subject,is it possible to get the pm box up to 150?

 

I agree, i think people should have a post count of 5 before being able to PM, etc

The same thing happened before with the arcade(I don't know if it still does,but back in the day of EbAl) you had to heve ten posts to use the arcade.

 

I'm with choco, I have gotten that first one and one other one I deleted. It's against the rules and stuff. I woiuldn't really change the PM rule because I know when I first joined I went and PM'ed some members for questions and stuff.

 

What's to stop you from asking questions on your intro thread?

 

That be pretty much spam. I asked a few, but if you start asking to manyquestions it'll turn into spam.

 

I don't think that would be spam,the whole welcome threads themselves are spam really,there is no topic apart from to say,"hi,I like KH." there should be no reason why not to ask questions there.

I also recall an,"Ask the mod thread."

 

The 'Ask a Mod' thread was to ask them a question about something that you didn't understand.

And I think that the PM box should be made bigger.

 

I agree as well, the PM box should be more expandable.. I get to much though and eventually I have to delete and empty teh sent/received PM's.

 

that's what i said.the thread would be quicker than pm's too.
and i can't see how the bigger pm box would be bad either.

 

This reminds me of this other site I saw. They had it so you weren't a full member until you made 10 posts. And then they had some kind of advanced member thing for those who made a certain amount of posts and were members for at least a year.

 

I think we could come up with that idea. One way to combat spam is have a limit. In some forums I see, the only thread you can post was on the Introduction Thread and the General Thread. Once you have a certain number of post, then you are allow to post in other sections, such as codes, cheats, faqs, etc.

 

I know him! He does the exact same thing on another Kh forum I go to, same username and everything. He's been banned for it twice.

 

yeah, the Blade guy from one of the Pm's that Chocobo posted, he has been going around trying to get other people from other sites to join KH Media

I agree with the idea that PM box would be bigger. Because mine is quite full all the time, of course I can delete the messages but.. I receive lots of new ones.

 

I don't really operate through PM a great deal but I have had both those plus a good 6 or 7 more before most of you were around you young whippersnappers!

I like the idea of 5 posts before PM box is open, though actually I believe it should be more. 5 isn't exactly hard.... They intro, go to general, 5 within 2 minutes to be quite honest...... 15 would be better.... and it's unlikely you'd need PM's before 15 because I doubt you would make alot of friends at 15 posts Unless you used F&G i guess..... I'd have like 800 posts including all y F&G ones lol ^_^

I don't really want a bigger PM box, just delete all when it gets full except ones you need. It'd just be extra work for Zee for the comfort of us, it isn't really a neccessity and we gotta remember Zee isn't just someone to grieve to, he's a person just like us who's busy lol ^_^

 

shad...i like the idea of fifteen,mabye even 50 (first piece of rep). and as for the bigger pm box,your right,it's not a nececity (sp?),but it would be nice. you see,I don't understand the ins and outs of forums.

 

Well, I forgot to mentoin about the post.. I think it isn't nesary.. PM should be free for all users. There is really no point on restricting it for 5 or 15 post.. because they will start spamming.. That's what I belive.

But in redgardless of Arcade, it should be like 10 post before entering and play a game. And in tournaments, a little bit more.

 

This topic poses a good point but I wouldn't change the PM style. I like being able to talk to members if there are no forums I'm interested in. Also, I have a real life friend on this site who I talk to when the phone isn't an option. The PM system could be better but I don't think it should change that much.
