Wow, at this rate I'd almost regret ending the suspense. Maybe I should've used that tactic elsewhere, too...

Ok, you asked for it. :) Here's my research project.

Now this might seem a bit weird (...it is a bit weird), but I am serious about gaining information to write a commentary partially based on the responses that I receive (if any). Here are some "analysis" questions:

How do you feel about the characters in Kingdom Hearts II (includes Final Mix+, CoM, etc. And yes, I suppose KH...but KH Re:CoM and KH II FM+ are way better...)?

Like I said before, I'm researching...and I'm curious to find out whether or not the characters from this game series actually affect people (you) on an emotional level in addition to a mental one. If so, how? And also, how much? [A physical measurement, such as a smile, tears, or laughter would indicate this.] Lastly, why? I am trying to prove that characterization affects people-and how it affects people-and so I am looking for evidence from fellow gamers. I know that it sounds completely obvious; DUH, some things that characters say in the games are funny, and thus people would laugh, but I still need the proof from other people, not just myself. It's kind of hard to explain...Anyway, it'd be great if you could help me out.

[I'm attempting to prove a hypothesis: that the KH series (all) has a greater effect, meaning that the creators of the game have portrayed the characters in such a way that the characters' characterization tugs more at your (the audience/players) heart than other video games' characters. Sorry if that's confusing.]

Erm, no need to sound professional or anything...

Haha...too difficult? Actually, that's alright, because I've found something that works better...

Do you have a favorite character? If so, why is that character your favorite?

I think you are right. But its not just games. Books, movies and tv shows are the same. You see a quitaly you yourself have in common wit them, and situation and greave.Desipte the fact that the characters in the game arent real. You are real, you feel the emotions they feel as you go through the game. Which in turn rubs off on your personality. Even if its somthing as small as a simle.

Thank you! This is the kind of information that I'm looking for. Brilliant.
Do you think that Kingdom Hearts characters have a stronger pull than the characters in other games?

Personally speaking I feel that I like the characters in Kingdom Hearts more than the characters in other games. I think it's because I grew up on Disney movies so to see a game where you can interact with characters from the Disney movies it....well I don't know how to put it into words but I like it. : )

So there's a connection between characters due to familiarity and similarities. We are getting somewhere...

In terms of effecting the emotions, then, would you (any of you that have answered thus far) say that due to familiarity or similarity you are affected to a greater extent?

    Heey! Welcome to the forum!
Your questions are very interesting! I was wondering the same since I cried for Zach's death in FFVII Crisis Core, well... I cried, but it was like a "depression", for a few days I was really sad, I really had the impression that my father died or something like that. But I've never play the game! I just watched some videos on YouTube !
And when I finished Kingdom Hearts I, II and Final mix +, I mean, when I saw the end, I cried too, but I was more... "happy". Well I don't know how I can explain, it's just weird ^^*

hi welcome to the forum :]

those are some very interesting questions. i understand what you are asking though. i can't really remember what i was feeling during any of the games though. it's just been to long for me to really remember.

but i will say this though. i think we have those emotions through any type of adventure game actually. since you play as the main character (s). you basically fight as them, heal them, walk as them. you're basically connected to them. kindof like reading a book or as everyday life.

i'm hoping that made sense to you! it's hard to explain trying to get it from my mind on here

Wow, these are some really great answers! I'll be sure to ask more questions to reach the heart of this 'matter'... I'm glad that I'm not the only one who actually feels something and admits it. Thanks for illustrating that the creators of the game can reach the audience through characterization (the characters in the game).
