As a whole, what do you think about the final fantasy armors and weapons? Which weapons were your favorite from which game? This is only for the talk about weapons and armors related only.

A lot of times, I think the weapons are slightly ridiculous. For example, the buster sword. Seriously? How the hell can anyone lift that, let alone swing it with enough force to take someone's head off? It's like as long as Cloud is tall. o_O And the gunblade. How exactly does that work? The suspension of disbelief is at work here.

Aside from that, the weapons are usually pretty cool. I sometimes find it odd when so many fight with swords, while the setting is more modern and there are guns and such (like in VIII). I don't have a favorite weapon out of all the games. In each game, the weapon I like the most is usually the most powerful, and as such, the most useful one.

As for armors, well, I don't really have an opinion on them. There's not usually anything special about them, and there's not usually "ultimate" armors for the characters like there are weapons.

Buster Sword - We are chalking it up to the fact that Cloud is a genetically enhanced super soldier haha.

Gunblade - What I understand from the game is that by pulling the trigger of the gunblade, it causes the blade to shake, creating a Viro-blade like effect

I suppose, but I still say it is ridiculous. ^_^

Apparently the gunblades in XIII shoot projectiles.

A gunblade just seems like something some kid would make up. 'Guns are cool. Swords are cool. So, let's just mash 'em together'. But, the fact that it is Squall who uses it makes it cool regardless of the stupidity.

I think the armor that you wear in FFX is helpful and brings some protection to your characters but they provide some more usefulness in FFXII.

^Yeah, X's armor was alright, with Auto-Phoenix, Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect, and Auto-Potion stuck on 'em. Getting enough of the items to customize the armors was sometimes a pain, though.

Eh, I just like Giant weapons. No matter what it is, if it's ridiculously huge, it's cool. Not to mention it also can make one look more of a bad arse. Even Yuffie's Shuriken, pretty cool in my opinion.

I'm more of a stave person anyways. Yuna's staff are so colorful and shows promise. Aerith's staves do to. Now, the weapons in FFXII are unique in it's own ways and has it's own abilities. I like weapons like that. -____- I still can't get Tournesol. Vincent's Death Penalty I love and that's because I have learned that his weapon and Barret's has a glitch that can defeat the Emerald Weapon in one move and can possibly defeta the Ruby Weapon even faster.

Tournesol is the best weapon in that game, imo. You should try and get it if you can.

I agree about Yuna and Aerith's rods/staves. Yuna's were especially pretty, and I liked Aerith's Princess Guard, though you hardly get to use it.

I also am partial to Relm's paintbrushes, Eiko's flutes, and Quina's forks. I like weapons that aren't really weapons.

^ You know, I'd end up with most of them in my inventory, but I don't think I ever used any of them, except maybe Cloud's. I guess I was just mostly focused on growing materia, and the funny weapons didn't have materia slots in them, if I remember correctly.

    Your favorite types of weapons?

Everyone should have some types of weapon that was appealing to them? hich one was your favorite? My name says it all so I'm a staff lover for the final fantasy series. Still, I find that you don't need ot use weapons at all since I now love Edea, Ultimecia, Zell, Tifa and Adel's way of fighting with just the movement of arms and hands. I find Lulu's weapon kind of funny but mysterious.

i preffer the classic bladed weapons (lances and swords)

i just grew up enjoying hitting things like as if it were a sword, and now, i'm more into the longer ranged spears

spells are good, in their own way, and melee are also good in their own way

I merged the "Your favorite types of weapons?" thread with this "Fantasy Arms" thread, because I think they are basically the same thing.

I also like staves. And I'm partial to swords. But like I said above, I also enjoy the goofier weapons- the items like Lulu's dolls, musical instruments, and so on.

Oh. I basically had the two thread on two different things. one is for what you think about the Final Fantasy weapons in general and the other thread is based on favorites. Sorry if that made you had a different perspective. I can't believe that a ball like Wakka's can be so useful.

^ It's still basically the same thing, or close enough. While speaking generally about weapons, you can easily say what your favorites are at the same time. I doubt anyone will have so much to say that two threads are needed to contain it all.

I've always thought this was a damn stupid weapon. Getting a ball to the face doesn't feel good, but it doesn't seem like it'd be strong enough to really discourage a fiend from attacking, let along kill it. And I wonder why Tidus doesn't use one, if it is as successful against fiends as it appears to be. He's the superior blitzball player- if anyone would use a blitzball as a weapon, I'd think it'd be him. Meh.

One specific weapon I like is the dancing dirk from FF V. Sword dance, paired with a dual-wielding ninja is awesome.
