After you get to the World That Never Was, you know the boss battle with the black demon, is there any sort of tactical plan on defeating it? I've tried everything, but I always seem to get fried! help would be appreciated, Blizzara never seems to do much damage even though it should seeing as though the demon is a fire-type, and I can't ever get close enough to cause much physical damage cause it always fries me, and there's never enough time to cast cura fast enough!
so if anyone has managed to defeat it then please can you tell me how you did it?

The Phantom battle is all timing really. When he leans forward and you see fire around his arms, get the heck away. It WILL kill you. Also when he makes the blue orbs, step back. The next attack is always the fire of doom. Also, what level are you?

You are talking about the Chernabog battle at the End of the World, yes? I think I just cast the strongest Aero spell I had on myself, flew in and locked onto his head, tried to stay behind him as much as possible, and then whacked him with the keyblade as much as I could. (This was pretty much the extent of my strategy in this game. Yes for button-mashing). If I got low on health and ethers, or when he'd do his big flamey attack, I'd back away like the coward I am and let Goofy and Donald whack at him and take the hits for a while. Maybe it would help if you leveled up some more? I don't know what level you're at, but I was always at a very high level after fighting all of the optional bosses and I don't remember this fight giving me too much trouble.

With Chernabog... in all honesty, I think that you should already have curaga and aeroga. Make sure that you use Aerora so that you can take less damage. Make use of your pots if you are low level.

okay thanks all of you! still haven't defeated it yet, but I gotta say, using Aeroga worked like a charm, I have always used the 'let Goofy and Donald wack the living daylights out of it' approach, but thanks for telling me to keep on using it! timing eh? I guess I could do that, it's just annoying when you get down to the last HP bar and that one mistake sends you back to the beggining and you've already spent like 3 hours trying to kill it!! I have NO idea what Level I am at, though it wouldn't hurt me to go and level up some more, should've done that from the start, but I was so eager to get through the game!
So I will use a mixture of everything, timing, brute-strength, and using wind spells, thank you for your help!!

He is hard, but i never used Aero to beat him, it took a long time to beat him. Good luck!

I beat him at level 30 with Oblivion and some pure skill. Get Oblivion from where you fought Riku-Ansem and then go fight him.

Go back to Hollow Bastion for the second time and go back to where you fought Riku the last time, at the big keyhole. In the Grand Hall, head up the steps on the right to grab a chest with a Flare-G. From the platform with the giant keyhole, look back across the room and look up. The chest up here can easily be reached by jumping up on the ledge and walking around the perimeter. It contains the Oblivion keychain.

You should also go back to some of the worlds. They can give you some nice items. The Olympus Coliseum can also give you nice items too if you win the tournaments. Still, you need to have some stronger spells if you want to beat Chernabog.

The problem is that I don't believe it is actually possible for Donald and Goofy to finish off a boss on their own. So eventually you do have to get Sora in there. And also, Donald and Goofy die a helluva lot, so leaving them to take out a big chunk of Chernabog's health will take forever. But Donald and Goofy do come in useful as targets, taking hits and giving you time to get Sora healed up and ready to get back into the fight.

I don't think the keychain you use makes too much of a difference, really. People beat the game using just the kingdom key all the time. And the Oathkeeper and Oblivion aren't that far apart, as far as strength goes. By this point in the game, though, shouldn't you have the Ultima Weapon? It's the best keyblade in the game, for all that it's irritating to synth.

I still think some leveling up might be in order, especially since you won't have much of a chance after this, if I'm remembering the events of the game right. Not that the final boss was really all that hard, but then, I was at a really high level myself.

I beat it!!!! I couldn't be bothered to go back and get Oblivion, so I just used Oathkeeper, thank you all, I found out that I was level 50 so it wasn't too difficult to kill it off, it just took a loooooonnnnggg time, about an hour! I went for the overly cautious approach, but I worked it out that Donald and Goofy were'nt capable of finishing it off so I got Sora in there, but it was really tense near the end cause I was out of potions and magic, but I did it!!!
so thankyou everyone for you help and suggestions!
@Kitty: where can I find the Ultima Weapon? I can't seem to find it anywhere and believe me I have been searching for it!!

You don't "Find" the Ultima Weapon, you MAKE the Ultima Weapon.

I am almost sure you have moved on to the next area... But I find the mobs fight in the volcano harder than Chernabog. One I tried doing the mob fights at 50 I had a really hard time. I usually grind to 55 before I take that on. (Grinding to 55 doesn't take as long as it sounds.) Once you start the mob fights, the only way to get out is to go back to the Winnie The Pooh save... which means you have to defeat Chernabog again : (.

    Chernabog doesn't respawn...

I meant if you had to go back to a previous save point (before you defeated Chernabog)
