Dark Room (working title)

I enjoy writing short stories/scripts and I make them into machinima films.
Machinima (muh-sheen-eh-mah) is filmmaking within a real-time, 3D virtual environment, often using 3D video-game technologies.
In an expanded definition, it is the convergence of filmmaking, animation and game development. Machinima is real-world filmmaking techniques applied within an interactive virtual space where characters and events can be either controlled by humans, scripts or artificial intelligence.
By combining the techniques of filmmaking, animation production and the technology of real-time 3D game engines, Machinima makes for a very cost- and time-efficient way to produce films, with a large amount of creative control.

Its a hobby of mine and I like doing it. So this short story I've been writing for awhile now and its been on the backburner for a bit now, thought I'd pull it out. Thought I'd post it here to get some comments/suggestions so it can help me make a more clear choice on where I'd like to go with this story. Please note that the story is not finished and keep in mind that it is in script format.


DARK ROOM (working title)
scene 1

Opening credits are shown as various parts of the city are shown. A few sirens heard here and there. A man walks out of a bar and continues his walk down the street. Scene cuts to a suburban street as the man continues to walk. The man enters a house. Various scenes are shown and are watched with the tv screen border around them. Flipping through channels and see a scene from SYIH and Fredtheclock. The man is sitting on the couch when scratching is heard. He listens closely and then gets up and opens up his front door.
Man sees a dog outside his door and looks down at its collar.

Michael- "If you find this cat, call this number immediately."

Michael looks down at the dog.

Michael- "You're not a cat at all."

scene 2

Michael grabs his cell phone and calls the number. After a few rings they stop. Static is heard and then Michael hears a voice.

Voice- "Save (static) se...(static) lf.."

Phone dial tone is heard. Michael hangs up the phone.

Announcer- "We interrupt this program for a special weather report."

Weatherman is shown standing outside (in town?)

Weatherman- "It seems that the leftovers from Hurricane Claudia are headed this direction. Winds up to 70 mph and tons of rain headed with it. A severe warning has been issued until 3:30 am. Stay with us for more updates."

Michael looks outside and sees wind starting to pick up and hears a low crackle of thunder. Michael brings the dog in and puts him in a cage.

scene 3

Michael sits down and wonders what he should do with the dog.

Michael- "Looks like you'll be staying here for the night. I'll turn you in tomorrow morning."

Scene fades out and shows Michael asleep in living room but awakens to a loud thud. Michael looks around and then walks toward his front window. The window then suddenly breaks and Michael flies back. A man in black stands over him and hits him in the face several times causing him to blackout.

scene 4

After a few eye blinks Michael wakes up in his own blood.

Michael- (moans) "ow my head."

Getting up slowly Michael looks around and sees he is in a basement. He then begins to slowly walk around to examine the area. On the side of the stair case he finds 2 dead bodies. He stands there frozen in fear when a door opens with great force. A stumbling noise is heard and then a body comes rolling down the basement stairs. After it made impact with the floor a chuckle was heard and the door slammed shut.

scene 5

Michael goes over to the body that was just thrown down the stairs and examines it. The man begins to speak.

Jeremy- (cough) "Where am I?"

Michael- "A basement somewhere, not quite sure how we ended up being here either."

Jeremy sits up and Michael sits down to get more information.

Michael- "Whats your name?"

Jeremy- "Jeremy Reeves, and you are?"

Michael- "Michael Cooper. (a brief pause here) Do you remember what happened?"

Jeremy- "I was at home making dinner when I heard a noise at my door and there stood a cat at my door. I went to reach out but after that its all a blur."

Michael- "Who is doing all this and what does it have to do with us?"

A door opened as steps coming down were heard. The man in black stood before us and took us up the stairs.

scene 6

Michael and Jeremy were taken into a room that looked like a torture room. Jeremy was thrown in and the door slammed shut. Man in black took Michael down a hallway into a room and threw him in there. Michael looked around but was too dark to see anything, a light turned on as a man sat at a desk.

Man- "Glad you could join me. Now, where is it?"

Michael- "I...I don't understand what you're talking about."

The man sighed.

Man- "You're going to get the worst of what I have planned."

scene 7

Scene cuts to Jeremy sitting in the room and hearing screams.
Police on patrol is driving it the city as he gets a call from the radio.

Radio- "Calling all units, several sightings of the suspicious old man we're looking for. Check in for more information."

Man in black opens the door and Jeremy follows him. Jeremy walks down the same hallway and enters the room.

Man- "Your friend wasn't so lucky."

Jeremy- "What did you do?"

Man- "See for yourself."

Light comes on and Jeremy sees Michael on the floor dead(eyes missing, chest cut opened?).

Jeremy has quick emotions changes as the Man laughs hysterically.

scene 8

Cop cars pull outside the (house/cabin/building?).

Man walks around/toward Jeremy.

Man- "All I wanted was my dog....what more can a man my age ask for?

 

Glad you have enjoyed the story so far. I'm kinda at a writer's block with the story at the moment. I think I'll open something to drink and work on this story since its been awhile.

A video for this site eh? Care to elaborate more about this subject in PM just so we don't take this off topic. Next scene, I'll hope to get some more writing done tonight or within the next few days. Glad you are eager to see what happens next.
