The Way To Dusk

Tidus nods, and they get close to their memories. The memory Tidus is looking over a book next to Gerik, who had found the book that had fallen. The memory Tidus looks at Gerik, and grins.

"I think this is what I have been looking for. The heartless that attacked the town connect the dots. I think I can help figure out whats going on, and put a stop to it. Is that helpful to you?"

He says, indicating the book.

 

"A bit," the memory answered, "It would be more helpful if I could find that computer. But I've been all over the castle and I still haven't found it."

 

The memory nods, and looks back towards the door.

"Well, you've got to find it. If I can answer the unknown quantity that is magic, I think that it will help fight these things back."

The memory sighs, and turns to the window.

Tidus crosses his arms.

"Does anything seem out of place to you?"

 

"Not that I can think of," Gerik answered, "Only that I think we're close to the end of this floor."

 

Tidus sighs, and follows his memories gaze to the window. Outside, he remembered his friends were fighting out there, while he was in here. Not that he wasn't a fighter, but he was much more studious than the rest of them. They were depending on him to do this part. It was his destiny. Thats why he was here, even today, looking in on his own past. They would seperate in a moment, the last time they would see each other for 5 years. Maybe this is where it would change.

 

Gerik glanced out a window to see something, but when he did, the memory faded away. "It looks like we're at the end of this floor. The stairs should be past that doorway."

 

Tidus follows him, shrugging.

"So we gotta go through something like that 11 more times huh? Sheesh."

He says, chuckling a little bit as he watches the memory fade.

 

"Yeah, no kidding," Gerik said, handing Tidus a card, "Your memory is next. Let's hope it's a good one."

 

Tidus nods, and holds his card up. The light grows brighter and brighter, and then dims, revealing their surroundings. They were on a cliffside, on a group of rocks in the middle of a water fall, staring right over the edge. Behind them, the sound of combat echoes just under the sound of the waterfall.

"I know where we are."

 

"Where is this?" Gerik asked, "I'm not familiar with this world. At least, I don't think I am."

 

Tidus nods, and steps forward onto the water leading away from the edge. The water freezes directly beneath him, and leaves a trail for Gerik to follow.

"Thats because you have never been here. This was a world that I visited for a long time."

He says, almost mesmerized by his surroundings. It was a tropical jungle, with animals everywhere. And off in the distance, the sound of a battle was getting closer.

"They will be here shortly."

 

Suddenly Adam's teacher came up before he had a chance to reply, "Your majesty I regret to report that Adam has broken a clear school rule. Your son was caught smoking on school grounds."

 

"Who's gonna be here?" Gerik asked, "What world is this exactly?"

 

"The world of my best friend...."

Tidus says running forward suddenly. Up ahead, the forest suddenly opens up, two people running out of the jungle. One is Tidus, the other, a man with rugged gear, and two swords in his hands. They run out onto the river, and stand there, the memory Tidus standing on ice created on the water, and the other man floating on the wind above it.

The memory Tidus stands in between the other man and the tree line.

"Hurry! Get to the bottom of the boat in the cove! I will meet you there."

When he doesn't budge, the memory turns to face him.

"You aren't prepared to face the heartless yet Aven. They will take your heart. I promise, I will meet you there."

Aven shakes his head, and stands next to him.

"You better be there. Or I will come back up here and kill you myself."

He says, turning towards the waterfall, and flying off, into the horizon. The memory Tidus nods, and turns back towards the tree line, which is now filled with heartless.

 

"Where were you guys going?" Gerik asked, "And did you ever fullfil that promise?"

Adam looked at his mom, "It was just one ciggaret and I was forced to do it."

Jasmine folded her arms, "What do you mean?"

Adam bowed his head in shame, "I had to do it to get you ring back. Some guys stole your wedding ring and they said, I had to smoke one infront of a school camera if I wanted the ring back." Adam pulled the ring from his pocket.

Jasmine took the ring and put it on her finger, "So you did that for me? You were willing to get in trouble just to get my ring back?"

Adam nodded, "Yeah, I had to because I knew that ring is very important to you."

Jasmine smiled and kissed Adam's cheek, "Your a good kid. Just never smoke another ciggaret again."

He hugged her, "I promise mom." The teacher just walked away smiling.

 

"I was getting him off this world, before it was taken. We couldn't save it. We had been trying too, and we did a damn good job. But it was too little, too late. By the time I had gotten here, the heartless had been swarming the world for months."

He says, watching as the heartless pour out of the forest. The memory blasts the first few, and engages the next group in melee. He does pretty good, but takes some good hits, falling into the river. He flows down it, falling over the waterfall.

"It was my excape route. I had just recently discovered I could mix my molecules with water. It took me all the way to the ocean, and I made it to the ship in time. The ship was how I got here, and how I got him and as many of his people as we could, out. Come on. I think we are gonna be taken to the cove soon."

Tidus says, running to the edge of the waterfall. The memory starts zooming forward, like someone hit the button.

 

Semnax walked through a dark corridor and smiled, "So whats up?"

Adam looked at Jasmine and Jasmine smiled, "Nothing sexy, just mom and son time." Semnax remained blissfully unaware of the recent events between Adam and Jasmine.
