Fun Plot Idea

In-between classes and a fun thought came to me. We all know how the KH story has built up inconsistencies. Not as many as some complain about but they are there. (even Nomura interviews conflict with in-game Journals)

So knowing this an idea came to me. Why not make that a plot point?

td;lr ver: Say it was time travel. Literally every inconsistent moment could be explained this way. Even down to Mickey’s faulty memory.

Messing with time messed with reality, simple. There's no real point or thread for this later, just a means to give in-game justification to inconsistent moments.

So in simplest terms: the plot of the Kingdom Hearts series is so convoluted because of some sort of butterfly effect?

In a way yes. It's just a way to give actual in-game reason for inconsistencies that could or could not be fixed. Like, at this stage the issues it has can't be fixed but it's giving actual in-story reasons as to why.

I wouldn't say the convolution either, but the things that are kinda inconsistent. Like Mickey never mentioning BBS. Donald & Goofy not knowing Yen Sids tower in KH2. The mix up of who banished Pete. Why Maleficent came back to life. Why Ursula came back to life. Just the small things like that.

The convolution isn't an issue itself so much as how it's handled.

Isn't it suggested that Maleficent was basically just able to reform because the three fairies remembered her? At least, that's what it was in KH2. I'm not sure I'd count that as an inconsistency; more like an unexplained mechanic?

Suggested yes, her being some kinda fairy/witch creature also likely means she follows different rules. (like Hades who is literally immortal)
I just don't like that she came back just cause. Revivals are one thing, revivals for no reason are worse.
