Here we go with the voting. Cast your vote in the poll and make comments in the thread. Does this need any more explanation?

Excluding myself from my commentary, here are my thoughts:

1: Again, Become. For reasons I already explained in my nomination. Become is a level ahead of most of us in a ton of important categories. He's realistic, creative, and always willing to share commentary to help another person to improve their own writing.

2: OathkeeperXIII. You know, I almost didn't ask Oath to return to KHP for DI. But I'm glad I did. She's brought a tone to the entire story that I think it had been somewhat lacking before. The way she is able to take on so many diverse characters and still give them their own completely different voice is pretty awesome.

3: Taboo Sho. My lower two were difficult for me to decide. Sho has shown a ton of improvement in March, and it's pretty cool to see him stir up so much activity in the Arena. Oath is right in that he has a lot of potential and admirable enthusiasm. I look forward to see more posts from him in the future.

    Comments:

1- Still sticking to my nomination. Based on progress alone I gotta hand March to Taboo Sho. Aside from all the other comments I made already, I will re-iterate that I think Sho has a lot of potential in general, and I have to hand credit to him where it's due. The monster he made for our Arena is badass. He does lack a certain level of ability to grasp his character's surroundings. But he's shown a lot of progress in that regard over the past month and has been super open to feedback, which I respect in a player.

I don't have a particular order for the other two.

2- Become. I agree with Hope in that he is a level above a lot of us when it comes down to skill alone. There is a certain sophistication with his writing that a lot of us lack. My biggest issue with him is simply activity. I haven't ever really worked with Become directly before.

3- Hope. Again, I think Hope is a fantastic writer. And the level of detail she puts into her work is astounding. I also love how she works to keep everyone involved and make a story as epic as possible. I can't name one roleplayer who DOESN'T like working with Hope. My biggest critique for her comes down to versatility. She makes amazing characters, but they all stick to a very similar mold. All of her characters are good people at their core. I want to see Hope make a convincing bad guy one day. :3

Gonna post here too. Mostly because I feel I owe a bit of an explanation.

    1. Become (THAAAAAAT'S MEEE!). I confess that I went turncoat and voted myself up over my original nominees. Someone might think it sleazy of me to go that route, and suspect I did it to even my chances. That's not the case... well, maybe like 5% the case. Guilty.

But really, I saw it as a way of not selling myself short. I think I may seem like one of the more self-assured members around these parts. In reality, I'm quite riddled by many doubts; that's kinda one of the things that hinders my activity. I feel that I need to start being receptive of the compliments I receive, and voting me was honestly a step in that direction.

    2. H&O. If not for my own status on this list, and my own reason for voting for myself, I'd have, no doubt, stuck to my guns on these two. They're both two of the best writers we've got around this forum (in rp at least). Their battle has been highly entertaining to read through... pretty much everything I said in my nomination carries over.

    3. Taboo Sho. This'll probably come off as cold and offensive, but... I don't understand why oath nominated him in the way she did. She gave him low(er) ratings all down the list and was largely pointing out 'negatives.'

I understand, and recognize, that he's been getting much better. Having watched him over the course the majority of his rp career here, I'm well aware of his progress, and will not deny his potential, so long as we can break him of his less endearing habits.

However, I do feel that it is a tad bit premature for him. He'll get his moment. Probably soon.

He's on his way there, but he hasn't arrived quite yet. And I think it'll be far more rewarding (to him, and to those of us that have contributed to his development in RPing), to earn this on a nomination of high ratings. In a way, I guess you could say that I just want the kid to stay as driven as possible to keep improving.

I might as well post too.

    1) On the subject of Become, I enjoy reading his posts. His attention to the detail of his characters and what their own struggles are one of the things I'm enjoying about the RP. I hope to be able to work on some more posts in the future, along with other RP's.

    2) Hope & Oath are the ultimate dynamic duo. Hope, with her ability to craft a beautiful story and ensure that everyone, no matter how small their role is, is included in the development. And with Oath, her rash and forwardness of her characters honestly scares me a little. But it makes me excited for the coming fight between Haldor and Lucius, plus the inevitable colab posts with Kable and Paige. If I had to pick just one, I'd have to pick Oath though. She's our own wild card to keep things fresh and alive.

    3) Sho, I haven't had an opportunity to write with you before this RP. The only one I've colabed with in the votes was Hope on our LoZ crossover story. The only criticism I have is the same as what everyone else says, it would be best for you to work on your character development and to be able to work with everyone else. Otherwise, O say keep up the good work!

@Become posts paint a pretty picture, but are too focus on details and settings. The reader, myself, loves how the scene is set up but the details overshadow actual story progression. The bulk of his posts are mostly spent on explaining the environment and observations(the set up) and aren’t dialogue driven or show character development or the inner thoughts of characters till the very end which I’m pretty much out of it by then.

@Taboo Sho posts are probably the exact opposite. He gets straight into the action without getting too much into the setting. It’s more dialogue driven and captures your attention quicker. The difference being the mood isn’t properly set or important details that should be fleshed out are missed.

@Oath I find the most trouble in her characters’ dialogue. I’ll read something and have to re-read it then ask myself does that fit? Her characters’ dialogues are usually filled with expressions and odd words which I don’t think is necessary.

If you guys haven’t guessed, the person I think should win and casting my vote for is @Hope. I don’t know why both @Oath and @Hope were nominated together when their post is clearly different but whatever. I selected @Hope mainly for this post. Should’ve ended the post before “Lastly, Jaxx mission gave Raven a less”. But yeah, Hope starts off very strong but as the post goes on. It fiddles out, but that’s my decision on March’s nomination.

Always nice to hear positive feedback from you @Angel.

In hindsight I probably should have separated Oath and I as individuals for voting purposes.

I'm going to leave this open until the 29th for any other comments or votes. April RPOTM Nominations will start on April 1st. Let me know if you guys want to see any changes in the way this competition is run. As is, I kind of like the nominations being pulled from everyday posting.

And with the opening of Become's new one that brings on new players, we will have more people to work with. :)

Interesting critique I've never heard that one before. I'd love to see examples of where you've seen this. :3
