All jokes aside, are you a feminist? Do you think it's really needed the way it's exploding in first world countries (looking at you America..... You and your vagina hats)

    Lets discuss.

To put it in my simplest terms: I believe in the feminism that stresses gender equality (ensuring that women have as much say in their own lives as men (generally) get in theirs, equal pay for equal work, and so on). What does irk me is the females that wave the banner of feminism on the platform of demonizing anyone who happens to be male.

As with many movements and such, feminism, IMO, has its extremists. And I definitely feel like I've met some feminists (usually female) who were difficult to forge an legitimate, even non-romantic, relations with.

PS - I apologize for my lack of eloquence on this topic.

I agree with this. This sort of attitude pops up in a lot of movements, I think- I see it pop up in discussions about race in relation to how white people can apparently have no opinion on it. I don't feel like this attitude helps the causes much, and in fact probably turns a lot of potential allies away.

I would consider myself a feminist by the definition Become used- striving for actual gender equality (not feminine superiority), equal pay, getting more women into the STEM fields, seeing women better represented in government and as CEOs of corporations, etc. I think some people think feminism means women have to act a certain way (see the people whining at Emma Watson as being anti-feminist because she posed for a photoshoot semi-nude), but I think it just means women are free to make their own choices and live their lives the way they want to- whether they want to pose nude in photos, or they want to be a stay-at-home mom, or they want to own their own business or whatever.

While the ideas behind feminism are good I feel that modern feminists these days have gone too far from what feminism is meant to be. There are reasons why there is the stereotype of modern feminists are all a bunch of man haters who desire for female superiority, and it annoys the hell out of me when feminists either completely ignore why the stereotype exists or they defend those who prove the stereotype.

Other issues I have with feminists is their insistence on perpetuating misinformation, such as the "gender wage gap." It is a complete myth founded by misunderstanding statistics and (In my view) not applying basic logic to how businesses operate.

i think feminist dont see that there are inequalities on both sides. its not just women who arnt treated fairly. a lot of times men are treated unfairly too it just depends on the circumstances. the courts obviously favor women in child custody and child support. i dont really feel like there is actually a need for a movement demanding equality between the sexes because the sexes are equal they are just different. people get hung up on one or the other but they both compliment each other. i mean men and women are not equal in strength are they? so every situation is never going to be equal all across the board.
