How to put Star Wars and/or Marvel into Kingdom Hearts

Welp It's late, my imagination is running, sooooo yeah random idea time.

Now hear me out I actually do have a simple and decent idea. I used to rave against it and to some extents I think it’d be an issue-
    BUT

That all depends on how you put them in. So to cut to the chase I propose a simple solution to the SW/Marvel fans out there.

    A storybook.
Just think about this for a moment. In KH1&KH2 we have Winnie the Pooh’s storybook which is a literal world within a book.

Oh but wait I’m not done~

In Chi, Unchained and Back Cover we have the Foreteller’s Book of Prophecy. This book literally makes holographic/fake worlds for you to go in. Hercules, Beauty&theBeast, Aladdin, those are all worlds that book is making.

Again in Coded/Re:Coded we have Jiminy’s KH1 Journal. Mickey puts this book into a computer and creates an entire living digital world similar to Trons.

Hell you can even use Tron himself as an example since his is a world within a computer.

So the solution is honestly quite simple. Perhaps Sora finds other books-in-worlds. Like maybe Marvel is some magical comicbook or perhaps Star Wars is within a futuristic kind of book or even holocron.
Literally limitless applications if you introduce them in this way. The only real issue would be the toning town of SW characters and their powers buuuttt you should already be used to that with the Final fantasy ones in KH.

So yeah just a small idea. Food for thought essentially to all you still debating the issue. Later~ >3> *goes to bed*

Well, I don't like the idea of Marvel or Star Wars in KH at all. Like, I suppose they could write the worlds in a way that makes them fit tonally with the worlds previously used in the game (I can see Sora swinging through the air alongside Spiderman), but I really like the way the Disney movies (at least the animated ones- Port Royal was garbage mostly) are used for this purpose, and I wouldn't want to see them replaced. I was drawn to the first KH primarily because of the Disney aspect. I don't think Star Wars or Marvel have that sort of charm.

With that said, if those franchises were to be incorporated into KH against my objections, a book within the game would work, but since it's been done before, I think I'd prefer for them to come up with some other way. I suppose, really, there's no need to come up with a special reason for the world's existence. New York City with supers flying around all over the place isn't really any more outlandish than any of the other worlds already in use.

Understandable and honestly I agree for different reasons. Star Wars and Marvel are honestly just way too big a universe (multiverses really) to add in well. The idea came to me once arguing about it and I think that's one way it could work but if given a choice I'd rather they not.
Disney and FF alike are given new backgrounds...well the FF is at least. Cloud in KH isn't Cloud from FF7 for instance or like how Yuna is some kind of fairy. I like that original take on such characters. Disney did have a more original approach in KH1 but it seems worlds have sadly fallen into "copy&paste movie".

That is also true. I guess for Marvel it's not needed as badly. Depends on which heroes your meeting or which city you base that world on. Star Wars is where it gets into a territory of having to confine it. Marvel huge but you can ignore aspects of it and write it in as it's own KH version the same way Final Fantasy or The World Ends With You is done. Star Wars on the other hand is a story across galaxies. It'd be next to impossible to just throw that in or confine it to one world without messing it up or angering it's massive fanbase.

On tumblr someone offered the idea that SW could be similar to Tron or Coded. Like they find this holocron thing and put it in a computer to analyze it creating or opening a way into a SW level. It'd be like a digital/story world come to life or such.

The only real issue I can't work around is depowering. From what I understand force powers are near godly sooo can't exactly have Sora fight someone that can choke him across a star system with their mind.

I don't really see the problem with Star Wars. Obviously as just one level in a game it wouldn't go into massive worldbuilding details, but I could see Sora crash landing the Gummi Ship on Jakku and running into Rey, who is trying to get BB-8 to the resistance before Kylo Ren and his heartless stormtroopers catch them. You don't have to bring in the Extended Universe or any of that, and if fans can't accept that it's a KH game, and not a Star Wars game and want to bitch about it, fuck 'em.

I don't see an issue with depowering, either. I mean, sure, maybe force powers can let a person choke someone across a star system, but did we ever really see that kind of power in any of the movies? I've seen all of them at least once, but I'm not a massive fangirl, so I could be forgetting something, but mostly I just remember a lot of light saber duels. Sora can take that shit on with his keyblade.

I've been imagining that, if they were to incorporate SW into KH, they'd do so in a manner more akin to Monstro or Hooks ship in KH1.

Basically, you're flying the Gummi Ship between. Worlds and suddenly you're caught in a Star Destroyer's tractor beam and BAM! Star Wars plot line.

I like that idea, too. Basically, I don't think it would be very hard to fit either of these franchises into KH, as long as the writers have a little imagination.

I would just rather they didn't.

Ya made my day at fuck'em~<3

I couldn't tell you. I'm not a fan of SW myself but I made the idea based around complaints I've seen in sites arguing over inclusion or not. I've seen the movies aside the new one, some of the Clone Wars, but I never really took to it. I do remember the high level of power mentioned with force people but I can't remember if it was a animated show reference or some book....or maybe it was a movie....

That'd be a decent way to do it for me since that's pretty much what they did with Stitch's level in BBS. Stitch himself has a huge even if largely unseen alien thing going on in the background with planets and such.

One idea I liked in all the things I've seen was SW being more of a secondary inclusion like having types of outfits, joke weapons and so on. I even seen a decent idea of Goofy having captain americas shield. No real marvel or movie inclusion just that shield.

I could go with that idea. That way there are small nods to Marvel and Star Wars without it taking over the Disney/FF dynamic.

Well, you can't please everyone. I wouldn't even bother trying with those sorts of hardcore fans. There's only so much story you can fit into a world, and when you have a universe as big as either Marvel or Star Wars, there's no way you'd even come close to covering it all. If S-E wants to include them, in my opinion they should just focus on small story arcs and not worry about trying to encompass everything. That'll just make things confusing for players not as familiar with those franchises.

Speaking of the FF dynamic I hope that comes back in KH3. The slow diminish of FF in the games over time was very off putting. I'm not big FF fan but I've tried many and when KH1 first came out I knew nothing of them and they felt like part of the original experience. To have them vanish wasn't very good to me. After Kh2 at most you got Zack in BBS and a few very small roles in Coded....well the Moggle was in Days if that counts. haha

Hell it'd make it confusing those familiar with the franchise tbh. If anything I'd say your right. Casual players seem to enjoy the series waaayyy more than more hardcore ones do these days...always arguing over fact checks and shit >__> ugh

I wouldn't bet on it. I posted a quote from Nomura in another topic a while ago addressing this, and he basically said that FF characters were there as filler until they could create more KH original characters, and as more original characters popped up in the series, the FF characters' roles would diminish. It sucks for me because I was/am a big FF fan.

It sucks for me as well since I felt FF was a part of that original experience. =/ If all he's gonna do is shift KH into purely Disney then it's value drops even more for me.

I can't find the thread with the quote in it now, but he didn't say FF would disappear from the series completely, so there will still be some FF presence, but you can already see how they have gotten less and less important. Honestly, the game probably has enough to deal with without adding more characters more important than a cameo.

FF was never more than a cameo. Leon and his crew had a slight role but even then they didn't do much. It's just the overall lack of them that's off putting since they feel like part of the experience for me. Those cameos and small roles give more flare or life to the game to me since it's something not Disney. Without FF KH is just a Disney game staring an anime boy.....which is kinda what it is now but ya get what I mean I think. xD

We're starting to get off topic, but while FF characters have never been the stars, I would argue that at least some of the FF characters had some impact on the story, at least on the same level as some of the Disney characters. I think KH III will focus a lot more on the original characters, especially if it's going to be concluding on some level stories for Sora, Riku, and Kairi, Donald, Goofy, and Mickey, and Aqua, Ventus, and Terra.

But we should probably stick to talking about Marvel and Star Wars here. :)

*shrugs* Ehh I dont think getting a bit off will be a problem since it still focus' on the core theme of camos in the series. :3 I dont think that can really be argued myself since that only Disney ones with real impact are Mickey, Donald & Goofy...well aside Kh1. Everything kinda built up in that and it was beautiful. :'D

    Tbh the SW and Marvel seems done to death unless we get fresh voices. ;w;
